Police: 3 Good Samaritans catch carjacker Police said three Good Samaritans chased down a man who allegedly attempted to carjack a woman in a Fort Worth mall parking lot. Two men approached a young woman at the parking lot and demanded the keys to her Honda, police said. "Now, this victim did not comply with the robbers commands and in fact told them no." "One of the jackers then told the other one to shoot her." Instead of shooting, the woman told police one of them snatched her purse and took off running. However, the three Good Samaritans chased him into a restaurant and held him there until police arrived. Officers arrested Anthony Oxford, 20. - (Newsroom) - (crime) |
Bloods Gangster Charged With Shooting Girl at Party * A deadly dissing Terrell Gray, 18, of Ronkonkoma, was arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Central Islip on charges of second-degree murder in the April 8 death of Danielle Baker. He was denied bail. Authorities said Gray, who they said claimed to be a member of the Bloods, attended the party with members of the Browns, a local offshoot of the gang. Gray apparently became upset by a song played by members of the Deuces, another offshoot of the Bloods, which contained contemptuous references to the Browns, police said. Gray went outside the North Amityville house and fired a shot through a window, police said. The bullet went into a room with about 50 people, striking Baker in the neck. - (crime) |

Wild-eyed negro with Muslim name called insane by lawyers - at least 2 of five victims were White men - No hate crime charges DURHAM, N.C. -- Abdullah Shareef is accused of killing one and hurting four people on a deadly rampage two years ago. Prosecutors say he knew what he was doing and should die for it. But Shareef's lawyers say he's insane, and, therefore, not guilty. Shareef allegedly stole two cars and led authorities through three counties before being taken into custody in April 2004. Along the way, he allegedly hit five pedestrians. One man was killed. Four people, including Gary Weller, were hurt and are still recovering. Shareef was sent to Dorothea Dix Mental Hospital after the incidents. At first, a judge ruled he wasn’t competent to stand trial. Now a judge has decided differently. Both sides are planning their next moves. Prosecutors plan to seek the death penalty. Defense lawyers said Shareef will plead insanity. Which raises the question: How can someone be competent on one hand, but insane on the other? - (Newsroom) - (crime) - (Black-on-White) Ref: Abdullah El-Amin Shareef Accused Of Using Stolen Vehicles To Run Over Pedestrians Police say Shareef, driving the stolen van, struck David McCaskill, who was walking his two dogs. They say Shareef attempted to back up the van to strike David McCaskill a second time, but did not. Shareef reportedly got out of the van and hit McCaskill with his hands. Fayetteville police say at 8:08 a.m., Shareef truck 55-year-old Gary Lee Weller with the stolen van near Ramsey Street and Summerchase. At 8:21 a.m., the van struck Robert Fortier, who was walking along the roadside of Ramsey Street. Shareef abandoned the van in Cumberland County and went to 56-year-old Lonel Bearl Bass, who was driving in his pickup truck, to ask for directions. Bass had stopped by to check on dogs at the Linden Hunting Club. Shareef was able to get Bass out of his vehicle and ran him over, sometime after 9:40 a.m. Bass, a volunteer firefighter, was pronounced dead at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. |
Mulumba Kazigo gets 20 years for bludgeoning his Ugandan migrant father to death and slitting his throat A man who admitted bludgeoning his father to death was sentenced to 20 years in prison Wednesday, despite pleas for leniency from relatives who said the father had abused his entire family for years. Mulumba Kazigo, 26, sat stoically as the judge read the sentence. He pleaded guilty last month to first-degree manslaughter. Kazigo declined to withdraw his guilty plea in the August 2005 slaying of his father, Dr. Joseph Kazigo, who moved to the United States from Uganda 40 years ago. He admitted that he broke into the Long Island apartment that his 67-year-old father used while working in the emergency room at the Nassau County Medical Center, beat him with a baseball bat and slit his throat. He then wrapped the body with plastic bags and duct tape and dumped it in a wooded area. - (Newsroom) - (crime) |

Indicted Black Officer Faces More Rape Charges - Woman Goes Into Detail About Alleged Sex Act A Baltimore City police officer faces additional rape charges after a woman claimed she, too, was forced to have sex to avoid arrest. In January, a city grand jury indicted squad Officer Jemini Jones on six counts of rape, conspiracy to commit rape, assault and misconduct in office. The charges stem from accusations that he forced a woman to have sex inside the Southwestern District station. Jones demanded sex, telling her: "... you are about to be charged with this gun. If you don't give us some by the time the big man gets here with the search warrant, I'm telling you, you have about an hour." The woman said the other officers left the apartment, and Jones took her to a bedroom, where they had sex. - (crime) |

Killer was right about child support error but Rape and murder are not rational responses to resolving one's concerns over child support Herbert L. Chalmers, who told a victim during a violent rampage last week that he was angry over child support, was right about being assessed too much. There was an error in data entry, boosting his monthly obligation more than fivefold. Chalmers ignored many opportunities to correct the error. "Rape and murder are not rational responses to resolving one's concerns over child support obligations," Scott said. As of April 18, the day of the attacks that left four people and Chalmers dead, the department was garnisheeing 50 percent of his paycheck . 'I could have stopped them' - said Sandra Stamps, white girlfriend rape victim of black killer. Stamps, 44, who said she dated Chalmers off and on for almost 20 years, sobbed at times. Stamps said Chalmers forced her into sex before leaving on his murder spree. Chalmers traveled by bus to a Wal-Mart in Bridgeton, took ammunition without paying for it and headed again by bus to Finninger's Catering Service in the West End, where he had worked for about a year. There, he killed co-owner Cleo Finninger, 79, and her daughter, Christine Politte, 44. Another employee, Patricia Ann Meier, 48, was wounded. Finally, Chalmers fatally shot himself in the parking lot. A day later, another woman, Carol D. Moore, 35, was found dead from gunshot wounds in an apartment on the 5400 block of Delmar Avenue, where Chalmers often stayed with another woman. ‘If it was a mistake, it cost the lives of my family’ Did the state make some kind of mistake in calculating Herbert L. Chalmers’ child support, possibly sparking a rampage that killed four women — including his children’s mother and two members of the family whose business garnisheed his wages? Survivor says killer was a model employee A man whose wife and daughter were killed by an angry employee says the shooter had not caused any trouble while working at his business for the last five years. Charlie Finninger survived the shooting at his family's catering business on Thursday after employees pushed him into a cooler. But the shooter, Herbert L. Chalmers, killed Finninger's wife, Cleo, 79, and their only child, Christine Politte, 44. Chalmers injured a third employee before committing suicide in the company parking lot. Chalmers shot three women to death Tuesday, including his 53-year-old estranged girlfriend, Sylvia Haynes, at her apartment, and two of his bosses at Finninger’s Catering Service before killing himself. Police said he also killed a woman whose body was found Wednesday in an apartment owned by a friend of Chalmers. White Catering Company Owner Talks About Ambush, Deaths Of Wife And Daughter Charlie Finninger was apparently the last target in a gunman's rampage this week, but he survived. Now, the man who lost his wife and his daughter in the shooting spree is speaking out. Finninger says the gunman, Herbert Chalmers Junior, was upset about child support being taken out of his check. Chalmers killed 5 people including himself. One woman survived. "I don't understand why," said Finninger. His wife Cleo and Charlie were at Finninger's Catering Tuesday afternoon when Herbert Chalmers walked in and started shooting. An employee pushed Charlie's wheelchair into a cooler when she heard the shots. "I got out of the cooler and my daughter was laying in the front by the overhead door. A short distance away my wife was laying," according to Charlie. His anguish over the death of his Cleo and his daughter Christine Politte triggered a mild heart attack. - (Newsroom) - (crime) - (Black-on-White) |

Black Panther wannabe finally convicted for assassination of white police officer in 1970 A jury convicted Larry Clark today of aiding and abetting first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the first degree for the 1970 slaying of St. Paul police officer James Sackett. Clark, 55, is expected to be sentenced today following a hearing in which the slain officer's family will tell the judge about how Sackett's death affected their lives. Clark is the second man convicted for a slaying that for decades remained one of the city's most painful unsolved murder cases. In March, Ronald Reed, 55, was convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy and sentenced to life in prison. Prosecutors argued at both trials the Clark and Reed, who are black, were militant young men bent on impressing national leaders of the Black Panthers. In the racially charged late 1960s and early 1970s, the state argued, Clark and Reed conspired to kill a police officer. Sackett, who was white, responded to a phony call of a pregnant woman in distress at 859 Hague Ave., in St. Paul's Summit-University neighborhood. An unseen sniper armed with a .30-caliber high-velocity rifle shot the officer above his badge shortly after midnight on May 22, 1970. - (Newsroom) - (crime) - (Black-on-White) |

Dark Demon Sex Offender Charged With Kidnap-Rape-Kill of White 11-year-old Jacksonville Girl In 1996 Fla. -- A Connecticut sex offender will be returned to Florida to face a murder charge after being linked to the decade-old rape and drowning of an 11-year-old girl through a database of DNA from convicted sex offenders. Robert Shelton Mitchell, 43, was being held on a $5 million bond after being arraigned as a fugitive. He will face first-degree murder and capital sexual battery charges in the death of Cherie Morrisette of Jacksonville. The Mandarin Middle School student body was found on Dec. 8, 1996, floating in the St. John's River about 10 miles south of the apartment she shared with her mother and sister. An autopsy determined that Cherie drowned shortly after her disappearance on Dec. 2, 1996, and was alive when she either fell into the river or was thrown in. Police labeled the death suspicious, and authorities found a small DNA sample on her underwear and body. Mitchell lived in nearby Middleburg at the time of the girl's death, police said Thursday. Mitchell later moved to Connecticut and was convicted in January 2003 of illegal sexual contact with another child. - (Black-on-White) |
