A Black female student at a California high school admitted to putting racist graffiti above water fountains, according to an official with the school district.
"While identification of the person involved in this incident has been addressed, we also will remain focused on supporting the healing of students and staff who have been impacted by this troubling act of vandalism," Sacramento City Unified School District Superintendent Jorge Aguilar said Thursday in a statement, which the district provided to Fox News Digital. Douglas County, Atlanta – A 30-year-old woman this week was charged with 8 counts of making terroristic threats in the Brookmont subdivision of Douglasville. For nearly a year, Terresha Lucas left threatening, racially charged notes in black people’s mailboxes on Manning Drive. Lucas, a black woman, pretended to be a white male member of the Ku Klux Klan and described herself as 6 feet tall with a long red beard. “Residents on Manning Drive began receiving the notes last December from a person who claimed to be a white male member of the Ku Klux Klan, who threatened to burn down their homes and kill them, according to detectives with the Douglasville Police Department.” the police said. “Instead, their investigation led them to Terresha Lucas, a 30-year-old African-American female, who was charged with eight counts of making terroristic threats this month. Accused of writing and placing the notes in her neighbors’ boxes, Lucas allegedly described herself as a six-feet-tall white male with a long, red beard who did not live in the neighborhood.” they added. It was all a hoax. Lucas is expected to turn herself in and faces up to 8 months in jail. The Georgia university repeatedly avoided questions about Roy Lee Gordon’s race
Emory University’s Police Department on Wednesday arrested the man accused of writing racial slurs and swastikas at its autism center in early August.
Roy Lee Gordon Jr. (pictured) is charged with second-degree burglary, Emory officials said in a news release that indicated Gordon is also the same person who allegedly wrote the “N-word” and drew swastikas at the Emory Autism Center last month. He is a former employee of the university. A police mugshot published by the Atlanta Journal Constitution shows that Gordon is black. This is the first time his race has been revealed publicly. Although Emory officials have known the man accused of the racial vandalism is black since early August, they have not informed the campus community of his race, which may have put a different interpretation of the incident on it. Asked for a mugshot and information on what Gordon is accused of stealing, and what his possible motivation was for allegedly committing these acts, Emory spokesperson Gana Ahn told The College Fix on Thursday that, “Unfortunately, we are unable to share any additional details beyond what is in the statement.” “Emory is unable to share personnel information and can’t speculate his intentions,” Ahn said via email. On Wednesday, the university continued to maintain that it condemns “acts of racism and antisemitism,” however did not mention the race of the suspect in its September 22 news release. Emory did not want to reveal suspect’s race The College Fix has filed multiple public records requests with the university and several police agencies over the last month to obtain more information about Roy Lee Gordon, Jr., but Emory police and local law enforcement has repeatedly declined to answer questions or provide information. The arrest warrant for Gordon was issued August 20. The vast majority of arrest warrants include a suspect’s race, but officials refused to provide The College Fix a copy of this public document. Because of this, The College Fix first raised the possibility that the incident was indeed a hate-crime hoax on August 25. Emory spokesperson Lauren Diamond told The Fix last month that the school had “nothing to add” besides the minimal details in the original news release announcing the identification of Gordon and that he had previously worked part-time at the Georgia university. A student at Wayne State University in Michigan likely egged her own door after she was found to be the primary suspect for an alleged hate crime outside her residence, according to police.
The Wayne State University Police Department said it spent nearly 200 hours investigating the apparent hate crime hoax, according to a readout of the investigation.
The first-year transfer student, Zoriana Martinez, initially told authorities that she believed the crime took place "because [she was] a black person" living in the space. Martinez alleged that someone egged the door of her residence hall room and removed the LGBT pride sticker from her door. She also claimed the crimes happened during two separate instances, once on Feb. 16 and one on March 1. After police inspected the available evidence, they concluded that it appeared Martinez committed the crime herself and changed the narrative to stoke outrage and attention. "There are absolutely no indicators of any racial intent," police wrote in the report, adding that they believed the complainant likely made up the story to earn a better shot at gaining a leadership position in the Black Supremacist Student Union. The report was obtained by the College Fix under the Freedom of Information Act and furthered that "the complainants motivation ... and ambition to become an officer in the BSU although speculative isn't easily dismissed and provide a great amount of motivation to make a false report." Additionally, police said an unidentified person with knowledge on the matter "refuses to provide information." Martinez is reportedly enrolled for classes in the fall semester. Kalinle was arrested and later indicted on multiple criminal counts, including a first-degree bias crime, fourth-degree assault and interfering with public transportation, court documents show. She did not show up for a Feb. 5 arraignment, and authorities issued a bench warrant, according to court records. Police on Sunday arrested Kalinle on suspicion of criminal mischief and disorderly conduct in a separate incident and booked her into the Multnomah County jail. authorities.The suspect, Alfredo Sanchez, 43, faces charges of Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition by a Felon. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office says Sanchez is a convicted felon from Miami-Dade County and was previously sentenced to prison for firearm charges. Under Florida law, convicted felons are not allowed to possess firearms or ammunition. In addition, he actually attended the Ft. Myers Synagogue he threatened. According to the Rabbi from the Chabad Lubavitch of Southwest Florida, Sanchez and his family have attended for about a year. The investigation into Sanchez started about two weeks ago when he told a fellow synagogue member, “If he had another screw loose, he would go to the synagogue and shoot it up,” according to the arrest report. “Sanchez made at least one statement indicating that he had the ability and the means to carry out a shooting at the synagogue. It was also reported that Sanchez offered to sell a firearm to a synagogue member,” said Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno. owner after he allegedly staged a
racially-motivated burglary
inside his Gwinnett County restaurant.On Wednesday, officers were dispatched to the Create and Bake Restaurant and Coughman's Creamery on the 1900 block of Duluth Highway in unincorporated Lawrenceville. When they went inside, they found several racially-motivated words and symbols spray-painted on the walls and doors. They also found several booth cushions sliced open, broken mirrors and cut wires. The surveillance system was also damaged. A witness told officers that they saw a black Chevy Silverado with no license plate leaving the business. Officers eventually caught up with that truck and noticed several televisions and electronics in the bed and cab of the vehicle. The driver of the truck was identified as 31 year-old Edawn Louis Coughman, the owner of the business. He told them he noticed the damage and called his insurance company but did not call 911. After investigating further, the lead detective sensed something was wrong and Coughman was arrested and his truck was impounded. Inside the truck, officers then found a crow bar used to pry open the back door of his business as well as several cans of black spray paint. Gwinnett County Police say Coughman conjured a premeditated plan to collect insurance money from his damaged business, disguising it as a hate crime, and selling off the undamaged electronics found in his truck. Coughman has been charged with false report of a crime, insurance fraud and concealing a license plate. |

Jersey man is facing charges after

man and then drove over him with his

hate crime.Jamil Hubbard, 25, of Sayreville, is charged with first-degree attempted murder, third-degree possession of a weapon (a motor vehicle) for an unlawful purpose and first-degree bias intimidation, in connection with the May 1 early morning attack on 55-year-old Jerry Wolkowitz, of Freehold Township. The brutal assault happened around 7:15 a.m. in the parking lot of the victim's Harding Road residence. Responding officers found the victim lying in the parking lot area with injuries to his head and body. Wolkowitz was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Hubbard approached the victim from behind, hitting him with his fists on his head and face before dragging him into the parking lot. he put racist graffiti on his own car
as a Halloween prank that got out of
hand, police said Monday. Photographs
posted on social media Wednesday
showed the car covered with
racial slurs against blacks and
messages that included "Go Home,"
"Date your own kind," and "Die." The
vehicle, covered in graffiti
scrawled with washable paint, was
parked Wednesday at an apartment
complex near Kansas State University
and the incident fueled racial
tensions at the university and in the
community.
An emergency meeting of the Black Student Union called that evening drew concerned administrators and community leaders as well as students. Kansas State held a Facebook Live event the next day with worried parents. The university stepped up patrols on campus. The FBI opened a civil rights investigation into a possible hate crime. But on Monday the Riley County Police Department issued a news release saying the 21-year-old owner of the vehicle, Dauntarius Williams, had told investigators that he was responsible for the graffiti. Prosecutors now say it was a church
employee who did it, in an attempt to
cover up a burglary. Nathaniel
D. Nelson, 48, is in
federal custody facing charges Monday.
Nelson was a member of the church who
was employed as a maintenance worker
at Concord Fortress of Hope church and
cultural center at 11040 W. Longview
Parkway in Kansas City, Mo.
Firefighters were called to the church
Sunday morning after a fire occurred
inside the building, but it was
extinguished by the sprinkler system.Investigators discovered that the fire had been intentionally set, and also found racist graffiti spray painted on the front of the church. Investigators also discovered that surveillance cameras in several areas had been unplugged and were no longer recording when the incident took place. However, footage on a second, separate surveillance system captured footage of Nelson spray painting the graffiti, prosecutors say. When interviewed by authorities, Nelson admitted he went into his office in the cultural center to smoke crack cocaine, and then attempted to break into the finance office to steal money. He said he wasn’t able to enter the finance office, so he went to two other offices and took $140 from one and $94 from another, before leaving to purchase more crack cocaine. He said he then returned to the church to use drugs again, then used tools to break into vending machines, but only managed to steal $2 from the machines. After leaving to purchase more drugs, he returned to the church, prosecutors say, then intentionally set the fire inside the cultural center using clothing and paper towels that he placed on or next to an office chair. He admitted to investigators that he set the fire to create a diversion and throw investigators off. |

called ‘white boy’ before brutal
attack in South Memphis  MEMPHIS,
Tenn. -- A 23-year-old, Graham
Patton, has both eyes blacked
out, his nose swollen and bandages all
over his face following an attack in
South Memphis. "I mean he doesn't even
look like the same person at all,"
Neysa Anderson, the victim's
stepsister, said. Police said the
attack happened on Tuesday, Jan. 5, at
the Pendleton Pines Apartments near
Pendleton and Ketchum. According to
officers, Patton took a walk outside
around 11 p.m. when two men he
did not know came out of nowhere.
"Something along the lines of
'hey white boy what are
you doing around here? You're not
supposed to be here' or something and
that was it," Anderson explained.
Anderson said Patton was knocked to
the ground and severely beaten. "It
completely crushed his entire sinus
cavity. Like his -- all the bones
under his eyes, his face were all
completely crushed," Anderson
said. Police said the bad guys who did
the crime are still out there on the
streets. "I was just very afraid,"
Michael Patton, the victim's father,
said. Michael Patton lives in East
Tennessee but said over the phone he
has one question for his son's
attackers. "Why? Why would you do
something like that to somebody that
had no reason to be attacking? Doesn't
make sense," Michael Patton asked. The
alleged racially motivated
attack also did not make
sense to people who live in that
community. Neighbors said although
crime happens there, people do not
usually beat up others because of
their skin color. "He wasn't robbed.
There was nothing taken. It seemed to
be just a violent hate crime,"
Anderson concluded.

faces hate crime charges
after reportedly attacking
a man for being white. Mahad
Abdinoor Abdi is the same
suspect that was exposed in a report
after witnesses said he
threatened to decapitate police
officers. These are
extremely rare charges because
prosecutors say hate crimes can be
very hard to prove. In this case,
according to this probable cause
statement, the victim reports that
Abdi attacked him Wednesday only
because the
victim was white. The cab
commission revoked his license after
Abdi reportedly threatened to
chop the heads off police officers.
He is already facing assault
charges for threats. Abdi now faces
two hate crime charges – property
damage and assault motivated by
discrimination. Court documents say
the victim did not know Abdi. He was
sitting on the tailgate of his truck
when Abdi put him in a headlock and
said. “He wanted to kill the
victim because (he) was white.” The
latest reported assault happened
within a mile of where we first
followed Abdi in his unauthorized cab.
He faces the property hate crime
charge because the victim reported
that he later watched Abdi slashing
the tires of his truck.

rubble at their Venore, Tenn.,
property in 2010, local reports said.
An insurance company caught on to the
ruse months after the blaze and
accused Carol Ann and Laura
Stutte of perpetuating a
hoax and blaming the fire on their
neighbor, the Knoxville News Sentinel
reported. A federal jury ruled in
favor of the insurance company’s
belief that the couple spray-painted
an anti-gay slur on their own garage
to spin the fire as a hate crime based
on their sexual orientation. The

allegedly shot a reputed

Tuesday night, police said. Corey
Mills, 26, a resident of
the Park Hill Apartments, shot Tombstone

Banks in the left
hand during an argument on Metcalfe
Street on the night of June 28,
according to charging documents. The
bullet also grazed Banks' thigh,
causing an abrasion to his leg, the
criminal complaint states. The victim,
who is an acquaintance of Mills, is
also currently locked up. He was
recently charged with assault

assault for taking part in an

Banks, 22, of Port Richmond, was part
of a group that attacked the
28-year-old white victim on
Targee Street between Laurel and
Vanderbilt avenues on June 19, police

group yelled as they beat the man and
pelted him with garbage and debris,
according to complaints filed in

crime in Stapleton STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Just days after a white South Carolina man allegedly gunned down nine black churchgoers, police are investigating reports that a group of black males shouting racial slurs attacked a white man on Targee Street in Stapleton Friday afternoon, an NYPD spokeswoman said. The 28-year-old victim was walking southbound on Targee Street around 3 p.m. when he was approached by the violent mob, the spokeswoman said. The attackers, who were not known to the victim, hurled racial epithets and assorted debris at the victim, including glass bottles, pieces of lumber and a fluorescent light bulb, she said. A friend intervened and took the victim to Richmond University Medical Center, West Brighton, for medical treatment, the spokeswoman said. His condition was not immediately available. was able to get away and get help.
Arnold was later arrested, and the

identify him in a lineup. Arnold is

menacing, and ethnic intimidation. He
is held in the Hamilton County Justice
Center. His bond is set at $90,000.

MetroLink assault suspect
identified    Two
suspects are in custody after
allegedly assaulting a man on a
MetroLink train last Monday. A
15-year-old and a 21-year-old,

Michelle Berrio, 43, was at the 145th Street subway station, near St. Nicholas Avenue, about 5:30 p.m. when a 25-year-old white woman, who was texting with her headphones on, bumped shoulders with her as she left the station, an NYPD spokeswoman said. LOUIS – St. Louis police are
investigating an alleged hate crime in
the Bevo neighborhood early this
morning that left a 26-year-old woman
beaten. According to a police report,
at about 5:30 a.m., a Bosnian woman
was driving when three black
males in their late-teens
to early-20s stepped in front of her
vehicle. When the woman tried to drive
around them, the suspects reportedly
pulled out a firearm, so she stopped
the car. After hitting her
windshield with a crowbar,
the suspects pulled the woman
from her car, threw her on the
ground and kicked her. A
suspect grabbed her purse, searched
it, and told the others it was empty.
All three suspects then fled the
scene. Police say the woman said she
thought the crime was racially
motivated because the suspects asked
her if she was Bosnian. St. Louis
Mayor Francis Slay responds. “The fact
that they did suggest that she was a
Bosnian – she was a Bosnian lady.
We’ve already turned this over to the

to hate crime charge STOCKTON — A woman was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor hate crime as well as two felonies following a fight with another woman Monday at San Joaquin Delta College, according to college police. Just before noon, campus police officers responded to a delayed fight call in the Shima Building, where they found the victim suffering from several small lacerations to her face as well as small puncture wounds on her right eyelid and the top of her head. The victim was treated at the scene for her injuries and indicated she would be seeking further medical care, according to a report. Witnesses told the responding Delta College officers that the suspect, identified as Dehmi Moore, 23, of Stockton, attacked the victim and began stabbing and slashing at her face with a pen. Moore was located in front of Danner Hall and arrested based upon the witness statements and the victim’s injuries, as well as an outstanding misdemeanor arrest warrant, the report stated. During an interview with officers, Moore made statements that led officers to add the hate crime charge. “A large portion of the statements made had to deal with race. The victim is a white female. The suspect is a black female,” Delta College police spokesman Officer Jim Bock said. Been Black-on-White Hate Crime  BALTIMORE
— Police confirm the suspect arrested
for a violent attack Thursday night on
a young man in the Otterbein
neighborhood near Federal Hill is now
a suspect in a similar attack just one
night earlier in the same area. Derek
Valcourt talked to the father of the
latest victim and has more on the
attacks. Three attacks in less than a
week in Federal Hill. We have a first
look at the injuries from the most
recent attack—and why the victim’s
family thinks this might have been a
hate crime. It will take plastic
surgery to properly fix the injury
suffered by the 25-year-old victim,
who asked not to be identified by
name. It happened Thursday night when
three African-American teenagers
attacked him, throwing a rock at his
face as he walked down Montgomery
Street after leaving his lifeguard job
at the nearby Otterbein Swim Club.
Police say one of the suspects,
19-year-old Sidney Joyner,
tried to stab him with a pocket knife;
the victim dodged the blade. “The
victim began to yell out. Residents
began to come out of their homes; the
suspects then ran away,” said Sgt.
Jarron Jackson, Baltimore police.
Police later found Joyner, who is now
charged with armed robbery, robbery
and two counts of assault. He was
charged in the other robbery and
assault, as well. “I feel like this
was attempted murder,” said his
father. “An injury that severe
definitely wasn’t an intent to
injure—it was an intent to kill.” The
victim’s father also questions why
Joyner wasn’t charged with a hate
crime, since the suspects reportedly
yelled, “Hey, white boy!”
at the time of the attack. “If roles
were reversed, it definitely would be
no question whether it was a hate
crime or not,” he said.

is investigating an assault that
happened in Central Park last Monday.
According to police, a 36-year-old
woman was assaulted while
exiting the park near 60th Street and
West Drive around midnight. Detectives
say she was shot in the back of the
head with a BB gun. “I immediately put
my hand to the back of my head and
there was blood everywhere and I
turned around and I said, ‘What are
you doing? What are you doing? What
did you do to me?” she said. What they
said to her next, she says, was a mix
of expletives, and “white
people should die.” She
said she is still struggling to make
sense of what happened to her. “I
didn’t make extreme eye contact. There
was nothing said,” she said. “I don’t
understand, I don’t understand at
all.” The victim spent the night in
the hospital where doctors
told her it’s too dangerous to
remove the BB that’s now lodged in
the soft tissue of her head,

Ky. —In just a matter of weeks, a man
beaten and robbed in an area park will
come face to face with one of the men
he says attacked him. According to
police, the suspect was a juvenile at
the time. But, the courts said Brejon
Ford will now be tried as
an adult when he goes to trial Sept.
9. The victim, Joseph
Rountree, said three others
have not yet been arrested for the
crime he said left him not only
humiliated but physically injured.
"For a while I didn't get out hardly
at all. I just feel threatened every
time I leave my house. I was afraid
walking down the street somebody might
grab me from behind," said Rountree.
Rountree said he has lived in fear for
the past 15 months. It was at Okolona
Park on April 12, 2013, when he went
for a walk. He said the park was empty
around 5 that evening when a
group of young, black men
were making their way to him. "They
were yelling 'honky' and
'white boy,' 'cracker' and 'white
trash,'" said Rountree. He
was beaten and knocked unconscious;
doctors later discovered bleeding on
the brain. The group, Rountree said,
took his two cellphones and the $22 he
had in his pocket. "I believe they
might have thought I looked like I was
an easy target because I'm white,
because they were calling me racial
names," said Rountree.

people have been indicted in
connection with a downtown attack that
followed the Taste of Cincinnati.
Jon Deters, 24, was assaulted
on West Ninth Street as he was walking
his sister to her car on Memorial Day
weekend. His father is Hamilton County
prosecutor Joe Deters. On Tuesday, Matthew
Johnson Jr., 23, Joshua McCoy, 21,
Onea Lapsley, 22, Yahdea Brown, 19,
and a 17-year-old were each
indicted on one count of felonious
assault, two counts of assault, one
count of aggravated riot and one count
of ethnic intimidation. A witness
previously said the attack was
racially motivated, noting
"that was quite obvious in the slurs
that were being thrown out.”
The suspects are black,
while Deters is
white. "If that lady hadn't
stepped in, Jon would be dead
because he was a white kid and
it's disgusting either way," Joe
Deters said. Joe Deters said
his son's girlfriend was also
assaulted in the attack.
Investigators said another man, Elliott
James, 24, was also attacked
by the same group of people that
night, before Jon Deters and his
girlfriend were attacked.

white girl as hate crime  CLEVELAND,
OH - Cleveland Police are
investigating an attack on a
10-year-old girl as a hate crime, and
the attack was captured on video and
posted on-line. It happened on Leeila
Avenue off Bellaire Road on the west
side. A video posted on YouTube shows
a white girl on
a scooter ambushed and beaten by a
black girl. The beating
went on for about 12 seconds until you
hear voices in the background calling
for it to stop. A Cleveland Police
report shows the attacker is 13 years
old. The victim, Danielle
Fair, says she felt bullied.
A neighbor says she saw it all, and
she heard the attacker use a
racial slur. "Cracker. She called
her a cracker," said
Jessica Jaworski. The attack looked
planned, with the camera rolling even
before the beating even started. We
went to the home of the teen throwing
punches. "Nobody was waiting. I don't
have to talk to you. It'll all come
out in court," a woman at the door
told 19 Action News. The victim's mom
and dad want justice. They say their
daughter never said anything to
provoke the beating. Dad says he even
tried talking to the other girl's
grandfather instead of calling police.
But now, a First District Detective is
working the case. Hate crime or not,
it's a vicious attack.

Black) Teen Violence: Racial
assaults a national problem   CINCINNATI
-- Teen mobs at city events is not a
Cincinnati thing, and it's been going
on for years. Evidence of teen
violence goes back to the Wisconsin
State Fair in 2011, Philly, Chicago
and spring 2014 in Louisville. They
all have in common the attacks
are by black, teenaged boys and
girls. And most
of the victims are white. The
race factor is not something officials
like to talk about. One UC criminology
professor says that silence could be
deadly. To some who called 911, the
race factor was obvious. 11 victims
filed reports saying they were kicked,
punched or stomped by a group of
black teenagers or young adults,
boys and girls.
Ten of the victims were white, one
was Asian. Two reported
racial slurs. Noelle
Findlay was so certain the
assault was racially motivated; the
police report says hate crime. At 12th
and Clay, Noelle says about 15
teenagers stepped in front of the car
her husband was driving, "Everyone
swarmed the car; I was like, 'Go, go,
go, get us out of here.'" Noelle's
husband, Chad
Findley, told Local 12 News,
"I had my window down four or five
inches, he punched me in the left side
of the face, someone else was on my
wife's side." He said, "They were
laughing the whole time having a great
time" Noelle Findley used to live in
Over-The-Rhine. Her job was about
helping mostly young black men find
careers. She filed the police report
as a hate crime
because she believes there was no
other motive. "I feel like it needs to
be addressed, people need to speak out
say something not sweep it under the
rug," Noelle said. Dr. John Wright, a
criminal justice professor at UC,

Greenville
Shooting Spree Suspect On Camera
For First Time  For
the first time since his arrest, the
suspect in last summer's Greenville
shooting spree has appeared on camera.
Lakim Faust appeared
in a courtroom at the Pitt County
Detention Center this morning. He is
accused in the June 21st shooting
spree in front of the Kellum Law Firm
and across the street at Walmart. A
grand jury indictment said the
shooting was racially motivated. All
four victims were white men,
while Faust is black.
Faust was seriously wounded by
Greenville police after they
confronted him on Hooker Road. Until
today, most of Faust's court
appearances have been in secured
locations, away from the media. He is
being kept at Central Prison in
Raleigh while awaiting trial.

WA - Two men face charges in
connection with an attack in Vancouver
early Sunday morning that
investigators believe was
racially-motivated, according to court
documents.
Matthew Boorujuy, 30, was
walking his dog in the 1800 block of
East 32nd Street near Washington
Elementary School at around 4 a.m.
Sunday when several men
attacked him, investigators
said. Zachary Hotchkins,
22, allegedly pointed a gun at
Boorujuy's face and pulled the
trigger, according to court documents.
But when the gun didn't go off,
Hotchkins allegedly used the butt of
the gun to beat Boorujuy in the face
and head. Police said Robert
Mitchell, 18, held Boorujuy
down while he was being hit. According
to court documents, one of the
suspects called Boorujuy a
racial slur several times
during the attack. Police said
Boorujuy had to get staples and
stitches on his face and head. His
vision is now blurry in his left eye.

16-year-old has been charged with
ethnic intimidation in connection with
brutal beating of Steven
Utash, the motorist attacked
in Detroit last week when he got out

named. He also was charged with
assault with intent to do great bodily
harm and has a court hearing scheduled
Saturday morning at the Wayne County

lawyer for the family of a woman who
was stabbed to death in White Plains
because she was white argued Thursday
that the city failed to adequately
secure a parking garage near the
Galleria where the crime occurred. The
lawyer spoke during the opening of a
civil trial in the case, pressed by
the family of Concetta
“Connie” Russo-Carriero of
White Plains, who was stabbed by
Phillip Grant on June 29,
2005, at the parking garage. Grant,
who is serving a sentence of 25 years
to life in state prison, told police
shortly after his arrest that
he was waging a race war and only
regretted not being able to kill
more whites that day.
Russo-Carriero’s family sued a variety
of entities after the murder,
culminating in Thursday’s trial, which
is expected to last through next week.
Russo-Carriero’s two sons, who have
continuously fought for their mother,
said outside the court that they were
not out for money.

on two sides of his rental house in

to divert attention from himself and

allegedly went on a rampage in Union
Square on Wednesday afternoon and left
a complete stranger brain-dead in the
process. Police said that the
attack may have been a hate crime.
Friends of Jeffrey
Babbitt, 62, were shocked to
hear about the random act of violence
that left the gentle, retired train
conductor in a coma. “I don’t believe
that. I don’t know why that happened.
He is very nice,” Igor Sapozhnikov
said. Babbitt was minding his own
business as he walked through the
crowd near the chess boards in Union
Square when a man made a hateful
announcement and began his rampage,
witnesses said. “He said ‘the
next white person who walks by I’m
going to [expletive],’” one
woman said. “His fist went in and the
man’s head bobbed and he hit the
ground and you could hear his skull
hitting the ground.” The man continued
his rampage before demanding to see
police officers. “He stood there and
hit two more people and
asked for the police to come,” Michael
Benson said. Stunned witnesses counted
a total of three people attacked. The
suspect, Lashawn Marten,
31, remained at the scene until police
arrived. Babbitt was on the ground
with blood flowing from his head.
Nearby were two other victims icing

Officers say Sanford entered a nearby

in Ramapo paint ball shooting RAMAPO
-- Ramapo police responding to a
report of a possible gunshot victim
instead found a pedestrian struck
multiple times by paint balls in what
is being investigated as a possible
hate crime. The victim stated that he
and a friend were talking and leaning
against the friend's car when another
vehicle traveling south on Rita Avenue
pulled up to them. Both the victim and
his friend said they observed a male
shoot a black rifle at them from the
passenger side window of the car about
five or six times, striking the victim
twice in the abdomen and the car three
or four times. They also reported
hearing someone yell "expletive
Jews" as they drove past.
The victim and his friend, who are
members of the Haverim community
patrol, broadcast their situation over
their portable radios. Members of
patrol who were also in the area
followed the vehicle and cornered it
on Frances Place in Monsey. The
suspects were identified as
23-year-old Shashi Ramsaroop,
20-year-old Lindsey Peaks
and 19-year-old Demetrius
Latrell Torain.

Racial slurs hurled during robbery
in Okolona ParkLOUISVILLE,
Ky. -- Louisville Metro Police say
they've arrested a suspect in
connection with a robbery in which a
man was beaten while the perpetrators
yelled racial epithets. According to
an arrest warrant, it happened in
Okolona Park on April 12. Police say
18-year-old Brejon L. Ford and
three accomplices
approached a man and attacked him.
According to the arrest warrant, Ford
punched the victim in the face. As the
victim was walking away, police say
one of the suspects hit him with a
tree log. Police say Ford and his
accomplices then began hitting the
victim several times in the head with
their fists, all the while calling him
names including
"honky," "cracker," and "white
trash." The suspects then
allegedly took two cell phones from
the victim, valued at $129.95 and $22.
The victim had to be taken to the
hospital and was diagnosed with a
subdural hematoma, described in the
arrest warrant as "a collection of
blood outside the brain."

Kiwi tourists were among four
victims of a racially-charged
attack in Perth by 'dark-skinned'
pack Two Swedes and two New Zealanders were attacked by a group of eight people in the Cultural Centre near James Street about 1.30am NZT, 9.30pm Perth time. The two New Zealanders, a 31-year-old woman and a 27-year old man, received minor injuries and were treated at the scene. A 35-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, both from Sweden, were taken to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital for treatment for head and facial injuries. The Swedish couple arrived in Perth yesterday afternoon. The offenders are believed to be six men and two women, described as dark-skinned and ranging in age from about 18 to 45 years and police say used offensive and racially-motivated language towards the victims. Man arrested for hate crimes after
beating man unconscious, making
racially charged threats  THIBODAUX,
LA — A Thibodaux man was arrested for
hate crimes after he allegedly
attacked a man and made racially
charged statements. The victim was
reportedly knocked unconscious,
received lacerations on his face, and
his teeth were damaged. “It’s not an
entirely common charge,” a Thibodaux
Police person, said. “You don’t see
racially charged crimes very often,
and I would say that’s a good thing.”
It all started on Saturday, July 6 at
a rented facility. The suspect, Demond
Johnson, 29, is accused of
attacking a man and allegedly stole
his cell phone. “He made racially
charged statements as soon as he took
the victim’s phone,” Melancon
explained. “A witness reported that
shortly before the incident, he was
heard yelling racial remarks on the
dance floor. He asked why they were
renting a facility from white people.”
Officials say officers witnessed
Johnson continue to make additional
threats after the incident. “After he
was arrested, officers reported that
he continued to make racially charged
threats against the victim.” Johnson,
who is currently on parole, was
arrested and charged with Hate
Crimes, Second-Degree
Robbery, and Second-Degree Battery.

Derick Lee Williams, 22; Kino
Martinez Jones, 25; and Montrez
Obrian Jones, 22; are
charged with assault and battery by a
mob. Covington said since the
investigation showed that racial
factors contributed to the
incident, the case has been forwarded
to the FBI to see if it should be
pursued further as a hate
crime under federal law.

White men Duck hunting incident leads to fight at store  Four
men have been charged with
second-degree lynching in connection
with a Thanksgiving Day fight captured
on a store video camera. One of the
men involved in the fight says it
started after a remark was made about
a Thanksgiving duck hunting trip.
While town police say the fight was
fueled by alcohol, the grandfather of
one of the men in the fight says it
was started by hate. "I saw
hate in that tape. Hate, hate,
hate," said Tony Fogle,
whose grandson, Ross
Fogle, was one of two men
beaten at Shorty's Horizon that night.
However, Norway Police Capt. Curtis
Mizell said that based on his
investigation and from reviewing the
tape, he doesn't believe the
altercation was hate-based. "I don't
think so," Mizell said. "I think it
was more alcohol-induced than anything
else." Regardless, four individuals
were arrested following the brawl. Charged
with second-degree lynching
was Reginald Youmans,
33, Marion Washington Jr.,
25, McKenzie Clemons,
23, and Christopher Burkett,
32. Lynching is the legal term
used when several people gang up on

criminal charged with crime of
burning cross into his own yard -
arrested for unrelated felony  ANOKA,
Minn. (AP) - De'Andre June
told police he woke up Wednesday
morning to find the charred outline of
a cross burned in the lawn of his
home. June now is accused of burning
the cross in the lawn himself. The
47-year-old Anoka man was charged with
falsely reporting a crime. He also is
charged with disorderly conduct and
obstructing the legal process stemming
from an altercation when police
arrested him Thursday afternoon on a
felony warrant in connection with a
financial fraud case. According to the
criminal complaint, inmates at the
Anoka County jail told authorities
that June was planning such a ruse.
"Inmates from the Anoka County Jail
saw the news story on TV and
recognized Mr. June," said Capt. Phil
Johanson "(They) said that when he was
in jail with them last week, he had
made comments that he was going to do
something like this to get sympathy
from the community and the church for
financial gains and otherwise."

Jack Rhodes, 44, was

larceny, burglary and assault, police

woman the same day, police
said. Police began questioning Rhodes
after noticing he matched a photo of a
person wanted for questioning in
robberies of women. He was initially
held on a charge of possession of a
crack pipe. Among the robbery victims
was 101-year-old Rose
Morat, whose holdup was
captured on a surveillance tape that
outraged New Yorkers. He got away with
$33 and Morat’s house keys. She
suffered a fractured cheekbone and
spent time in the hospital.

YORK — A judge sentenced a man to 240
years in prison Wednesday for taking
hostages in a bar and telling patrons
that "white people are going
to burn tonight." State
Supreme Court Justice Maxwell Wiley
told Steven Johnson, 39, who
is black, that he had
forfeited his "right to live in
society." Johnson, 39, was convicted
March 1 of attempted murder, assault
and other charges, including some
designated as hate crimes. Johnson
invaded Bar Veloce, in Manhattan's
East Village neighborhood, while nine
men and six women were inside it June
16, 2002. He was carrying
three pistols, a samurai sword and a
container of kerosene. He
told police he had left the Brooklyn
housing project where he lived and
taken the subway to go look
for "happy" white people to avenge
the mistreatment of blacks.
He shot and wounded three people,
including a police officer, and
sprayed kerosene on several customers
and threatened to set them on fire.
Two women caught Johnson off guard and
tackled him, and a policeman shot him.
About a dozen victims and their
supporters were in the courtroom for
the sentencing.

Halloween Hate-crime Beatings of
Three Young White Women  Nine
black youths were convicted
Friday in juvenile court of beating
three white women in a
racially charged attack on
Halloween night. The youths, ranging
from 12 to 18 years old, could receive
sentences from probation to
confinement in juvenile prison until
age 25. All were charged with felony
assault. The judge found
eight of them guilty of hate crimes.
The attack occurred in an upscale area
of the city known for its elaborate
Halloween decorations. Prosecutors
said the confrontation began when a
crowd of black youths threw objects at
the three young white women. Some
hurled racial insults and one was
heard shouting “White
bitches!” "I hate
whites," authorities said.

Diego police need your help to catch a
suspect in a hate crime
that happened on a trolley at night.
The suspect is an
African-American man between
5 feet 10 and six feet two. His hair
was in braids, and carrying a boom
box. Police say he got on the trolley
and made racially-motivated
remarks to a
white man and physically
attacked him. The man continued to
make the remarks while pacing back and
forth on the trolley and turning up
the volume on a boom box. At the
Euclid Ave stop, the black punched the
white man in the head, knocking him
down. He continued to hit the man in
the face and head until he ran from
responding trolley officers.

allegedly vandalizing five
different predominantly
African-American churches. Zuri

police about swastikas painted on
his house was ordered held this
morning on $500 bail. Andrew
King, 54, faces a
misdemeanor charge of falsely
reporting an incident. Police said
he told them someone spray painted
two swastikas on his Chiswell Road
home on Feb. 10, but a police
investigation concluded King painted
them himself, police said. Police
arrested King at 5 p.m. Monday at
his home and held him for
arraignment until Tuesday morning.
He pleaded not guilty through his
attorney, Julia Simone. Simone also
asked for bail, saying King
indicated he is in counseling with
Catholic Charities. She
did not say why he was in
counseling. She also asked that
King's case be screened for
inclusion in the alternative
treatment court program, which is
for defendants with mental
health issues. King has
an out-of-state criminal conviction,
but none locally. His female lawyer
said he got black eyes from police
brutality. Police deny these further
lies. He said he is Jewish.
King faces an unrelated violation
harassment charge related to a Feb.
15 incident at the county office
building. According to
police, he pointed his
hand and finger in the shape of a
gun and told a woman, "you
better take care of yourself,"
before making a reference to
the woman's daughters. Court records
indicate similar allegations against
King from September 2015, when he
was accused of making the same
finger gesture to a social worker at
the same office building and
threatening to throw her out the
window. The woman was overseeing a
visit between King and his child. 
"Just

me," said King, 54, a

arrested two men, one of them a

suspects who slashed a man's throat
in Queens Thursday afternoon, and
