Illegal Ecuadoran woman migrant food service worker dies from brain parasite
A 30-year-old Ecuadoran woman was declared brain dead this week, two weeks after she fell into a coma in the Ramsey County Jail, where the illegal immigrant was being held pending deportation. Maria Inamagua Merchan was taken off of life support Wednesday at Regions Hospital, her family said. Tests showed no brain activity and her heart was failing.   Any guest-worker program approved by Congress for the nation's 11 million illegal aliens would spawn a new wave of cheap-labor illegals that already-overwhelmed federal authorities are unprepared to handle, law-enforcement authorities and immigration officials say.
      A former high-ranking U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) official said the federal government does not have an adequate post-legalization enforcement program to prevent an expected flood of fraudulent identity documents or sanction employers who hire the new illegals.
      "The new illegal aliens will be cheaper than the guest workers, and there will be nobody in the government to check up on them," said the official, who asked not to be identified. "If there is no enforcement, illegals will pour in, requiring serial amnesties or legalization efforts."
      If any of the guest-worker, or amnesty, plans now pending in Congress are approved, the nation will experience an even greater flood of illegal aliens than in the wake of President Reagan's 1986 amnesty program, said several officials.
  

Illegal Mexican migrant bus driver caused deaths of 23 elderly evacueess - burned alive
The deaths of 23 elderly Hurricane Rita evacuees in a horrific bus fire could have been prevented had the driver inspected the vehicle before leaving and known enough English to tell passengers where the emergency exits were. "The driver could not speak English, only broken English at best," Those documents also assert that the driver, Juan Robles Gutierrez, admitted to investigators that he tried to avoid police detection by switching the bus's license plates. The case stirred a debate over whether Mr. Robles was an illegal immigrant who flouted U.S. laws or the hard-working victim of a boss who did. The sheriff's report said Mr. Robles was negligent for not having a valid Texas driver's license. State law allows people to drive on a Mexican license for 30 days.   BOSTON -- A young illegal immigrant who became a cause celebre in Minnesota after secretly living in a high school for weeks has been arrested here on home invasion charges, months after he was supposed to have left the country. Francisco Javier Serrano, 22, had waved goodbye to supporters and journalists who saw him off at the Minneapolis airport in January, but he apparently never boarded his plane for his home country of Mexico. Two weeks ago, police arrested him after finding him with a knife in an apartment in Boston's North End, struggling with the tenant, who was unharmed.   Brandishing a butcher knife, the 22-year-old media darling who once masqueraded as an Apple Valley High School student allegedly kicked open the door of an apartment last month in Boston's North End. The 3 a.m. crash roused a startled resident, who grabbed a large pot off the stove and slammed it over Francisco Javier Serrano's head. The man then chased Serrano down the street, wrestled him to the ground and into the arms of Boston police, according to a police report. In addition to landing Serrano behind bars again, the alleged March 29 home invasion has catapulted the young fugitive back into the media spotlight, in plain view of former supporters who once considered the baby-faced Mexican national a cause celebre.

Former boyfriend Joshua Enterline says he's upset authorities never apprehended Fuentes after he failed to show up for a deportation hearing in Texas five years ago. Illegal migrant rape, genital mutilation and murder suspect stuns New City Courtroom with testimony
The testimony is both dramatic and disturbing. On Tuesday, an illegal immigrant accused of killing a Rockland County woman inside her own home took the stand in his own defense. During the final day of testimony in his own murder trial, Douglas Herrera claims beer and cocaine caused him to black out at least twice on the day Mary Nagle was killed. Hired to power wash the Nagle's home, the illegal immigrant said he had a hangover, but doesn't deny being at the crime scene. While on the stand, defense attorney Barry Weiss asked Herrera, "What do you remember about that day?" Herrera: "Waking up next to the victim." Weiss: "Waking up to Mary Nagle?" Herrera: "Yes." Weiss: "In the same bed?" Herrera: "Yes. I was frightened. She was naked and my right leg was over her. I got up." Weiss: "When you got up, what did you see?" Herrera: "I saw a lot of blood. A lot of things in disarray. I saw my clothes full of blood, it was horrible." Rockland County's medical examiner also testified, claiming out of the thousands of autopsies she's performed, Nagle's injuries were the most horrific she's ever seen. Daniel Rodriguez Mendoza - illegal immigrant from Mexico, gets away with murder - to be deported
WEST PALM BEACH - A 21-year-old man will get six months in jail for his role in a deadly accident last year that seriously wounded two and killed a Lantana mother.   A circuit judge accepted 21-year-old Daniel Rodriguez Mendoza's plea deal Monday morning against the wishes of the dead woman's family, who wanted him to serve as much as life in prison.  
Mendoza, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, pleaded guilty to two felonies -- driving without a license and leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in a death -- and will essentially end his six-month stint at the Palm Beach County jail and stockade for the Sept. 25 accident that killed Kimberly Jo Dahmer, 42.   But he probably will remain behind bars as he awaits deportation back to Mexico, another requirement of the deal.   ''Welcome to America,'' the victim's husband, Steve Dahmer, lashed out in front of television cameras outside the courtroom Monday. ``I have no faith in the justice system whatsoever.   His children, 16 and 9, pleaded with the judge not to accept the plea. The 16-year-old, who has an 8-month-old son, said she misses her mother's advice. "Have we forgotten about 9-11?" he said. • Seattle: Chinese human cargo escapes from container, get arrested
  Twenty-one people were in custody Wednesday after they apparently let themselves out of a 40-foot cargo container used to smuggle them from China, officials said.   The 17 men and four women, all believed to be Chinese nationals in their 20s and 30s, seemed to be in good physical condition after two weeks in the container, said Michael Milne, a spokesman for U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Port of Seattle security guards spotted the group about 1 a.m.

A man faces two counts of aggravated sexual assault and other charges in connection with a series of attacks on women in northwest Fort Worth. Jose G. Carrillo, 30, was arrested after a lengthy investigation by the Fort Worth Police Sex Crimes Unit Mr. Carrillo was arrested for outstanding traffic warrants, and investigators obtained enough evidence after executing a search warrant to tie him to eight assaults beginning in December 2004. Six of the attacks were against Hispanic women in the city’s Northside neighborhood, and two others occurred near the Cultural District. A homeless man charged with raping a 4-year-old girl faces new charges after investigators learned he gave them a fake name.
Carlos Eduardo Alfaro was arrested March 22 under the alias Tito Mora Zavala. He was working for an area day labor company.
Investigators charged him with raping a girl whose family let him sleep under their trailer porch. Alfaro is a convicted sex offender in Virginia, where he was sentenced to five years in prison, the sheriff’s office reported. He served one year and was then deported back to El Salvador. In December 2003, he reappeared in Virginia and was deported a second time as an Aggravated Felon.

Hidden Camera Catches Mexican Hernandez Cruz Molesting His Girlfriend's Children
Ohio -- A man pleaded guilty Friday to molesting his girlfriend's children after she set up a hidden camera to catch him in the act. Hernandez Cruz pleaded guilty to rape and gross sexual imposition involving his girlfriend's daughters. "He hurt my entire family, not just my girls," she said through an interpreter. "She thinks that because she's Mexican, should wouldn't be believed and needed evidence to go forward." Cruz faced up to 15 years in prison. The judge sentenced him to four years on each charge, to be served at the same time. "I wish the judge would have done consecutive sentences. We have two victims with multiple acts over a period of time," said Bill Creedon, assistant prosecutor. Cruz was in the United States illegally from Mexico. An HIV-positive man accused of having unprotected sex without telling his partners may have done so with more than 25 women in the past two years, police say.  Police announced yesterday they've charged 28-year-old Clato Lual Mabior with three additional counts of aggravated sexual assault and two additional counts of forcible confinement after two more of the man's alleged victims came forward this week. The women claim the crimes occurred last year. Mabior was initially charged with one count each of aggravated sexual assault, forcible confinement and uttering threats after a 17-year-old girl told police he sexually assaulted and threatened her inside his Sherbrook Street home on Sunday morning.
