White mother, black boyfriend charged beating her 6-year-old son to death over Christmas   A Cahokia woman who was charged Tuesday with beating her 6-year-old son to death over Christmas had herself fled from an abusive relationship with a former boyfriend, according to a former neighbor. The woman, Starr Lohman, 24, and her current boyfriend, Lee D. Crutchfield, 33, were charged with three counts each of first-degree murder on Tuesday. Authorities said that the couple had severely beaten Lohman's son, Ryan Smith, over a period of months, culminating in a final, fatal beating that began Saturday night. McLaurin described Ryan as a friendly, talkative child who often would wave and smile at her from across the street. Authorities discovered Ryan's lifeless body on the floor of a bedroom in the couple's house after Lohman called 911 on Sunday. Three Afro-americans Charged In Shooting Death Of African Migrant Cab Driver from Nigeria Two teenage women and a man have been charged in the fatal shooting of a cab driver during a hold up in south suburban Chicago. Eighteen-year-old Joyce McGee, 19-year-old Jimille Brown and 22-year-old Elliott Peterson all are charged in last week's shotgun slaying. Police accuse the three of robbing and shooting 52-year-old Kolawole Ogunniyi after the cabdriver responded to a cell-phone call for a taxi. Police say they've determined the call came from McGee's phone. Ogunniyi's body was found in an Evergreen Park alley Thursday evening. Baby rapist - confessed cop killer featured on 'America's Most Wanted' Tennessee authorities are searching for a man they say brutally raped two young girls he was supposed to be babysitting. In February 2003, two sisters, ages 7 and 11, told investigators that they were repeatedly molested by 64-year-old Donald Edward Lynch. According to officials, Lynch forced the girls to sleep in his room, watch pornographic movies and participate in sexual acts. Cops say Lynch often took photos and videos of the young girls and threatened them with a gun. He also victimized at least eight other girls -- one only 3 years old. Idaho women who may have been infected by HIV-positive Zambian migrant get tested * Three more women have come forward MOSCOW, Idaho (AP) -- Several women believed to have had sex with a man who they say didn't tell them he had the HIV virus, a felony in Idaho, are undergoing testing this week in a Moscow clinic. So far, about a dozen people linked to the case have been tested for HIV, said Carol Moehrle, director of the North Central District Health Department. She declined to give the results, citing medical privacy laws. Kanay A. Mubita, 31, has been charged in 2nd District Court with seven counts of transferring body fluids that may contain HIV to seven separate women. HIV is the human immunodeficiency virus that can lead to fatal AIDS. Rape Suspect Believed To Be Responsible For Numerous Attacks - Officers Responding To Rape-In-Progress Call Shoot Suspect Police arrested a man early Thursday morning in connection to a series of rapes and robberies in west Baltimore. officers received a rape-in-progress call in the 700 block of Edmondson Avenue at about 2:45 a.m. Thursday. Reginald Williams, 34, who is a registered sex offender, tried to escape from the officers. "They cornered a guy in the alley, the suspect turned with the gun that was used in the rape/robberies, and the officers were forced to shoot him," she said. DeKalb County police officer is facing charges of child molestation against a 15-year-old girl Officer Anthony Greer is also charged with aggravated sodomy in the case. The 42-year-old Greer is assigned to the Tucker Precinct, where he works the day shift. He has been suspended without pay. Greer has been on the force for more than 20 years. Arrest Made In Virginia Beach Double Homicide Investigation  An arrest was made in the investigation of a double murder in Virginia Beach, and the motive of the murders may have been money. Carl Lee Walton was arrested Thursday morning. Walton is charged with the murders of 28-year-old Ronique Lavone Ewing and 27-year-old Tonya Dover Smith. The bodies of the women were found Wednesday morning about a mile from the Norfolk International airport. Ewing's body was found inside an SUV that was in a ditch on Tim Road. Smith's body was found a short distance away on Sand Pit Road.Ewing and Walton were childhood friends, and she called him brother. - (Tyrone N. Black man arrested for shotgun murder of 61-year-old White woman  A man is charged with first-degree murder in connection with last week's death of a 61-year-old woman. Trill S. McKinney, 30 also faces charges of armed robbery, aggravated burglary and being a felon in possession of a firearm Deputies found Betty Jean Sweet dead in her home on Sunday with at least one gunshot wound to the chest. Her co-workers alerted the sheriff’s office after they couldn’t reach her by phone and no one answered her door. Investigators say McKinney broke into Sweet’s home with the intention of robbing her, but she panicked and began to scream when he entered the house. That’s when he fired a shotgun at close range. McKinney, who has a criminal history that includes burglary and drug charges, was released jail from 10 weeks before Sweet’s murder. | Merhani Teklemariam Bahabla - who is black and a native of Eritrea gets 112 years to life in prison for four rapes in Santa Rosa Speaking during an emotional hearing, two of the victims said Merhani Bahabla shattered their lives, while he said the jury convicted him because they "judged me by my color." In a wide-ranging statement, Bahabla, who is black and a native of Eritrea, said he wouldn't have committed the rapes because his mother had taught him to respect women. "I am not the first innocent person to go to the jail," he said, "so thank you, God bless you and Merry Christmas." He was convicted in November of 12 sex offenses, committed between October 2003 and January 2004, including forcible rape and forcible sodomy. He wielded a knife against three victims, authorities said. Lowdown Black Man Charged in Kidnapping, Rape of Six-Year-Old Boy  A 21-year-old man is behind bars tonight, charged with kidnapping and raping a six-year-old boy. It happened over the weekend. Sheriff's deputies say the boy was abducted from a mobile home park then taken to some woods. Josh Dunson is the man investigators say committed what they are calling a sickening crime. Deputies say Saturday evening Dunson kidnapped the little boy from the trailer park.The six-year-old was staying with his mom's best friend. Investigators say she lost track of him and he wondered off. Willie Simmons, who lives nearby found a little boy's pants, underwear and shoes. Evandro Doirado kidnapped a woman and her 2-year-old son and repeatedly raped the woman over two days  On Saturday night, Evandro Doirado stabbed a man in a botched drug deal, according to Framingham police, but the man was not seriously injured. He then carjacked the 25-year-old mother and son while brandishing a 13-inch knife in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart in Framingham. "He didn't know her at all," a Plymouth Police Capt said. "He just grabbed her." He first took her to the parking lot of a nearby apartment complex and allegedly raped her there in the car with her child looking on. He raped her again in Natick and forced her to withdraw money from an automated teller machine. They then drove to Plymouth where he allegedly raped the woman as the 2-year-old cowered by the bedside, according to Cruz, and repeatedly threatened to kill the child. Honduran Serial Rape Suspect Reynaldo E. Rapalo Had Help Escaping, Police Say  MIAMI -- An accused serial rapist who escaped from jail by climbing through a ceiling vent and rappelling down the building using tied-together bed sheets appears to have had help, the city's police chief said Thursday. Reynaldo E. Rapalo is accused of sexually assaulting seven girls and women in the Little Havana neighborhood in 2002 and 2003. He escaped Tuesday night from the jail where he was awaiting a February trial that could have sent him to prison for life. Another inmate, Idanio Bravo, also scaled down the building, but he fell, broke his legs and was caught. - (crime) - (José María) - (Invasion!) Black Killer gets sentence reduced to life for kidnap-rape-murder of White woman - because one juror read the Bible   '95 death sentence was overturned Rhonda Maloney was kidnapped, raped and slain in 1994. The jury's finding for execution was thrown out because of the use of a Bible during deliberation. A man who kidnapped, raped and murdered a woman in 1994 was sentenced Monday to life in prison without parole. Robert Harlan was originally sentenced to death by an Adams County jury in 1995 for the murder of Rhonda Maloney, 25. But Harlan escaped execution after the Colorado Supreme Court upheld a ruling that jurors in the case improperly consulted the Bible during deliberation. "It could be said you may have avoided the death penalty by a technicality," Adams County District Judge Scott Crabtree told Harlan. On Feb. 12, 1994, Harlan kidnapped and raped Maloney, 25, for hours. She temporarily escaped when motorist Jacquie Creazzo slowed down after spotting the two parked cars. Creazzo sped toward the Thornton Police Department, with Harlan in pursuit. Harlan fired bullets into the good Samaritan's car, hitting Creazzo in the knee, spine and face, causing her to crash. Black only sentenced to 40 days for killing of 13-year-old White girl   A Chesapeake Judge handed down a decision concerning a driver who had been convicted twice of driving on a suspended license. Gerald Haley, Jr., 22, was found guilty of the misdemeanor charge. The charge stemmed from an accident August 9, 2005. Haley was arrested after hitting 13-year-old Kasi Vaughan along Taylor Road. Vaughan was crossing the street when she was hit by the passenger side of Haley's car. She died in the accident. Haley's driving record several convictions. Those convictions include two for driving on a suspended license, as well as nine for speeding. Haley was sentenced to only 40 days and will have to pay a fine. - (Tyrone N. Butts) - (TNB) |
