Mother bathed, dressed her dead children before putting them in trash bags Two children found dead under an apartment sink were bathed and dressed by their mother before being wrapped in trash bags. Arrest warrants released Wednesday provide new details of the chilling events that led to the arrest of a troubled single mother who police say left her children in a hot car for hours while she was at work. The children's mother, Sametta Heyward, has been charged with two counts of homicide by child abuse. Black boy, 14, accused in rape, robbery A 14-year-old Mangonia Park boy has been charged with raping and robbing a 42-year-old woman only a few steps from her apartment while his friends waited and watched, some shouting "Hurry up" and "Me next." Robert Anthony Walker, 14, was arrested Thursday after he was interviewed by Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputies. He appeared briefly in Palm Beach County Juvenile Court on Friday. The victim told deputies that she was returning to her apartment from Burger King just after 11 p.m. that Sunday night when she was approached by six teens, including two girls. Two of the boys laughed and exposed themselves to her. |

Black CNN Sportscaster - Dog fighting worse than raping a woman - Where’s the Outrage?   On Thursday, CNN sports anchor Larry Smith commented on Atlanta Falcons’ quarterback Michael Vick’s recent arrest for running a dogfighting ring: SMITH: Yes, well, that’s — he’s been in a lot of trouble lately, when you think about all the other incidents, and this is just the worst one of all. Keep in mind, too, that while Kobe Bryant is a situation we can sort of compare this to, this really is much worse. Not only can you argue that the crimes are much worse in terms of, you know, killing dogs and that kind of thing, but as an NFL starting quarterback, you are the most visible face in that city. Two Negroes finally on trial for kidnap execution massacre of 5 White KFC workers  Authorities say DNA evidence, gathered 2 years ago, has linked 2 Tyler men to the crime scene of the 1983 KFC murders in Kilgore. 44 year old Darnell Hartsfield and 47 year old Romeo Pinkerton were indicted today on 5 capital murder charges each. Currently, both men are already in jail on other charges. Just last month, Hartsfield was sentenced to life in prison on Aggravated perjury charges. The indictments were announced on the Henderson courthouse steps by Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, with the victims families in attendance. Pinkerton and Darnell Hartsfield, 46, cousins from Tyler, were indicted in November 2005 on capital murder charges as suspects in the 1983 deaths of five employees at the Kilgore restaurant. The bodies of David Maxwell, 20, Mary Tyler, 37, Opie Ann Hughes, 39, Joey Johnson, 20, and Monte Landers, 19, were found on a rural oil lease in Rusk County. Nigerian migrant student accused of terrorist threats EDWARDSVILLE — An attorney representing an SIUE student who authorities say wrote a note threatening a "murderous rampage," kept a gun in his campus apartment and had sought four more on the Internet said Wednesday that her client would plead not guilty to the charges against him. A day earlier, Olutosin Oduwole was charged with a felony count of attempting to make a terrorist threat and with a misdemeanor count of illegally keeping a gun on public property. Oduwole, 22, is a freshman at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where he lived in an apartment-style dorm in Cougar Village until Friday. According to court documents, that's the day police found a hand-written note demanding payment to a PayPal account. The note said "if this account doesn't reach $50,000 in the next 7 days then a murderous rampage similar to the VT shooting will occur at another highly populated university. THIS IS NOT A JOKE!" It appeared to refer to the shootings in April at Virginia Tech. A student there killed 32 people and injured 25 before killing himself. Black Serial Killer Watts Convicted in 1970s Student Slaying  KALAMAZOO, Michigan: Jurors convicted a confessed serial killer of first-degree murder in the 1974 slaying of a 19-year-old Western Michigan University student. Coral Eugene Watts, who claims to have stabbed more than a dozen women to death but denied killing WMU student Glorida Steele, faces a mandatory life prison sentence after Friday's verdict. Steele was stabbed more than 30 times in the apartment she shared with her 3-year-old daughter in 1974. Watts, of Inkster, about 13 miles (21 kilometers) west-southwest of Detroit, already is serving a life sentence for the 1979 murder of Helen Dutcher in the Detroit suburb of Ferndale. Watts, 53, received immunity for the 12 killings to which he has confessed, including 11 in Texas and one in Michigan, as part of a 1982 deal with Texas prosecutors. - (Newsroom) - (crime) - (Black-on-white) |

A former Tacoma middle school principal was convicted on Thursday of raping a woman at a party. Harold Wright Jr., 36, of Puyallup will be sentenced on August 31st. He faces six months to one year in jail. Wright was the principal of Baker Middle School until earlier this year, when he was put on administrative leave pending the outcome of the case. A woman accused him of raping her at an after-hours party on January 31st, 2004. The woman said she and two friends were at a bar where Wright, his brother and two other men invited them to one of their homes. She told investigators at least two of the men took her into a bathroom and took turns having sex work, but it was too dark for her to identify them. She was 19 at the time. DNA evidence linked Wright and another man, Ritchie D. Carter to the crime. Back in February, Wright and Carter were both charged with one count of second-degree rape. Carter was also convicted on Thursday. Wright is married with three children. He had worked for the Tacoma School District for seven years, the last five as a principal. Wright's bail has been set at $10,000. 
A feisty 70-year-old escaped the clutches of an intruder - who beat her, threatened to kill her and attempted to rape her in her Staten Island home - by praying. "I didn't fight him off, I prayed him off," 
Investigators say two men broke into an 85-year-old woman's home, beat her with a hammer, tied her up and took her pickup because they wanted to use it to pull their car out of a ditch early Wednesday. The suspects were captured after a chase that ended in a muddy pasture. Vincent Goree Woodard, 22, of Missouri City and Billie Jermaine Johnson, 18, of Rosharon, led sheriff's officers on a four-mile chase before crashing through a gate into a pasture, ramming the stolen truck into a patrol car and attempting to run down officers who were on foot, authorities said. They are being held in the Brazoria County Detention Center on aggravated robbery charges. Bail is set at $100,000 each. The victim,
