DNA links black ex-con to 19-hour torture of student: prosecutor - razor blades in his rectum  An ex-con accused of raping and torturing a Columbia University graduate student thought he had erased all traces of his DNA at the crime scene by ruthlessly dousing the victim with bleach and scalding water, police said. But then Robert Williams made the mistake of spitting into a police station wastebasket - giving authorities the evidence they needed to link him to the ghastly attack, a prosecutor said yesterday. Forensic investigators matched the spittle to skin cells lifted from a T-shirt Williams wore during the 19-hour assault and then left in his victim's Hamilton Heights apartment, authorities said. Six armed court officers in riot gear brought Williams, 30, into Manhattan Supreme Court yesterday where he pleaded not guilty to 71 counts of kidnapping, arson, rape, burglary and sexual assault. - (Newsroom) - (crime) |
Black accused of courtroom attack on lawyer convicted in rape trial The man who stabbed his own lawyer at his rape trial was convicted Friday of the charges and sentenced to up to 55 years in prison. Che Sosa, 36, was convicted in Norfolk Superior Court three months after he allegedly snuck a makeshift plexi-glass knife into the courtroom and stabbed defense attorney John Courtney in the face and chest while a prospective juror was being questioned. Two days later, Courtney and Judge Charles Grabau recused themselves from the case. Sosa was handcuffed and shackled and entered the courtroom behind a phalanx of security officers in helmets, gloves and padded chest protectors. He greeted Courtney by asking, "You still breathing?" On Friday, Sosa was convicted on more than a dozen charges, including nine counts of aggravated rape. He was sentenced to 30 to 40 years in state prison, with a separate 10 to 15 years to be served consecutively. - (Newsroom) - (crime) |
Negress Accused Of Raping 12-Year-Old Boy - His mother was 'pimp' Police in Lancaster County said a 12-year-old boy told investigators he had sex with a 24-year-old former York woman, and that his mother accepted money for it from the woman. Ashley Banks, 24, is being held in the York County Prison. She waived a preliminary hearing May 21 on rape and theft charges. Police said Banks acknowledged to them that she had sex with the boy. Police said the encounters happened numerous times at the boy's Columbia home. The boy said his mother knew about it and accepted money from Banks. - (Newsroom) - (crime) |
Former Nigerian football player sentenced to 13 years for rape of adopted daughter  France (AFP) - A French court on Friday sentenced a Nigerian former footballer who played for a top French club, Godwin Okpara, to 13 years in prison for the rape of his adopted daughter. Okpara's wife received 15 years for her rape and torture, while his mother-in-law received a five-year sentence for failing to come to the aid of a person in danger. After the verdict, Okpara's wife, Linda, sarcastically turned on their daughter, Tina, saying: "Thanks. Thanks a lot, Tina. Good luck in France." During the four-day trial, Tina, also a Nigerian, now aged 19, described having lived through an ordeal because of her parents, who brought her to France in 2001 at the age of 13.

Negro inmate's DNA is linked to three rape-murder cases  They were dumped like garbage, half-naked, raped and strangled. For years, the deaths of 25-year-old Phyliss Flagler, 20-year-old Janet Ramos and 23-year-old Sybol Dillard have gone unsolved. Now Broward Sheriff's Office homicide detectives have charged a man in two of the slayings -- and, according to the arrest affidavit, his DNA matches samples taken from the bodies of all three women. On April 5, the BSO charged Alvin A. Merrit, 57, in the Flagler and Ramos cases. He has been in the Miami-Dade County Jail for the past two years, awaiting trial on two separate armed sexual assaults. Black Arrested In Washington University Rape Police in Clayton and from the Washington University campus say a rape case that spilled concern all across the Wash. U. campus is closed. Back in February a stranger forced his way into a Co-ed's dorm room and raped her. Now three months later police say they have identified that suspect William Harris, 24, former campus restaurant employee.. Harris has been in jail since March but police are confident he was responsible for this crime. Cops won't say how big a part DNA played in this case but will say the cooperation and courage from the victim was key to finding their suspect. - (Newsroom) - (crime) |
Dark negro raped 14-year-old girl in the woods at knifepoint  Clayton County Police are trying to identify a man wanted for questioning in the rape of a 14-year-old girl in the woods around Castlegate Drive. The man has been described by the girl as a black male with dark skin, a small afro and a goatee, about five-feet, 10-inches tall and weighing between 200 and 220 pounds. The man is believed to be in his mid 20s, and was wearing a blue jeans, tennis shoes and a gray T-shirt on Thursday, May 17. The girl told police she heard a sound, thought it was a rabbit and followed the noise back into the woods at about 4 p.m. that day. In the wooded area, she was met by a man with a knife. She said he held the knife to her throat, threatened to kill her if she moved and raped her. - (Newsroom) - (crime) |
