- A White female Duke student was raped by a black man
at an off-campus party early Sunday.
According to police reports released Monday, the 18-year-old woman reported forcible rape that took place at 3 a.m. at 405 Gattis St., where a party was hosted by some members of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
University officials said Monday that they had met with members of the fraternity after the report was filed by the alleged victim, who Wasiolek confirmed is white.
The alleged victim told police she was raped in the bathroom by a black man in his late teens or early 20s, 6-foot-1 and wearing a black do-rag, gray sweatshirt and jeans, according to a DPD statement released Sunday.

The victim, an unidentified 28-year-old woman, told police she was inside a residence in the 600 block of McBaine Avenue at 11:40 a.m. Sunday when a man entered the residence and assaulted her, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department. The composite illustration of the suspect depicts a black man in his late 30s to early 40s. The woman told police he was unshaven and approximately 6 feet tall and between 220 and 240 pounds. - (Newsroom) 
Pa. -- Police said a 36-year-old woman infected with HIV has admitted to having sex with 10 male Cheyney University students last week. Investigators said Sakinah Floyd roamed the halls offering her body for cash. Police said Floyd admitted to giving two students oral sex for a total of $20. Investigators said they fear she may have passed the HIV virus on to some of those students. Police arrested Floyd last Thursday after she was spotted running through college residence halls nude. - (Newsroom) - (crime) 
A First Student bus driver charged statutory rape was due to have her first appearance in court today --- but she didn't show up. Now the judge has issued a warrant for Latoya Baldwin's arrest. Earlier this month, investigators charged her with having sex with a 15-year-old Central High School student who was on her bus route. Rumors about the relationship between the student and the bus driver got back to the school resource officer who questioned the teenager. Baldwin now faces one felony count of statutory rape.. but investigators say there may soon be more. Since Baldwin didn't show up at Monday morning's court hearing the judge tripled her bond to $18,000. - (Newsroom) - (crime)

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO -- At a news conference Monday afternoon, South San Francisco police announced the arrest of a man suspected of attempting to rape a woman at a South San Francisco business on Thursday, but have yet to connect him to a several area rapes and attempted rapes over the past year.Investigators were not "100-percent sure" that Contreras was responsible for a February 2006 rape in Colma, two attempted rapes in South San Francisco's Orange Park in September and November, and a rape on South Linden Avenue in South San Francisco, also in November. 
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Mayor Bill Purcell vetoed a measure Monday that would have made English the official language of Nashville, saying it was unconstitutional, unnecessary and mean-spirited. "This ordinance does not reflect who we are in Nashville," Purcell said. The measure passed 23-14 last week by the Metro Council required all government documents to be in English, except when multilingual communications are required by federal rules or are needed "to protect or promote public health, safety or welfare." Opponents and supporters of the ordinance agreed it was largely a symbolic slap at illegal immigration that had no significant effect.
