Alleged Lesbian Teacher Arrested on Felony Charges A Durham high school teacher is accused of making inappropriate advances toward a 16-year-old female student. Kara Hill, 30, surrendered to police yesterday, posted bond, and left the Durham County Courthouse in a hurry Tuesday morning. Hill is charged with two felony counts of taking indecent liberties with a student. Warrants allege both incidents happened late last year at Northern High School, where Hill teaches P.E. and English. The accuser is a 16-year-old girl. - (Tyrone N. Butts) |
Sports: Ex-Steeler Accused Of Torching Chicken Plant Federal fraud and arson charges against Terry Long, a former Pittsburgh Steelers lineman, were unsealed on Tuesday. The charges are related to Value Added Foods, a chicken processing plant that Long operated on the city's North Side. Long allegedly secured more than $1.1 million in state loans for his business by submitting false information, according to the indictment. He later burned down the operation and made insurance claims of more than $1 million, the indictment said. The chicken plant drew the ire of local residents who often complained about bad odors drifting through the neighborhood. - (Brewski) - (more sports) |

in isle court - Three boys allege that
Marvin Harrison and two
other men attacked them HONOLULU (AP) -- A lawsuit filed in Honolulu accuses Indianapolis Colts receiver Marvin Harrison and two men of attacking three boys who were seeking his autograph at a Waikiki resort a day before the Feb. 13 Pro Bowl. The suit, made public Monday, seeks general, special and punitive damages to be determined at trial. It alleges Harrison "violently and physically attacked" the minors, including placing a "potentially deadly choke hold" upon one of the boys.

Jury's Bible Use Nixes Sentence in brutal rape and murder  Ruling that juries cannot turn to the Bible for advice during deliberations, a divided Colorado Supreme Court threw out the death penalty for a convicted murderer because jurors discussed verses from noscripture. Five of the jurors who convicted Robert Harlan of a brutal rape and murder consulted the Bible before voting for the death penalty. Justices ordered Harlan to serve life without parole for kidnapping Rhonda Maloney and raping her at gunpoint for hours before fatally shooting her. Maloney, a 25-year-old cocktail waitress, was on her way home from work at a casino. Harlan later admitted killing her, but said he was addled by cocaine, alcohol and rage. Harlan was sentenced to death in 1995, but defense lawyers learned that five jurors had looked up such Bible verses as "eye for eye, tooth for tooth," while deliberating behind closed doors. UK: Child rape fiend picture  THIS is the man police are hunting over the rape of a young girl in her own bed. The unnamed child - aged between five and 10 - was attacked at her home on the Craylands estate, Basildon, Essex. Her mother and five other children were asleep in the house at the time of the incident on Wednesday night. Cops have released the artist's impression of the fiend after the young victim described her attacker. He is black, aged 18-20, skinny, with black hair, dirty teeth except one distinct clean tooth. - (Madkins) |
East St. Louis Police are investigating another rape within the city limits, their fourth in two months.  Police say the female victim was walking across a field near Piggot Avenue on Friday morning when an unidentified man asked her for a light for a cigarette. When she approached he grabbed her and told her he had a gun. The victim was then forced into a vacant home in the area and raped. The man is described as a light-skinned black man, about 5-feet 6-inches tall, weighing between 130 and 135 pounds. He is in his late 20s or early 30s and has thick facial hair, dark brown eyes, and thick eyebrows. |
Hines is accused of attempting to rape his 13-year-old cousin Daniel Hines is accused of attempting to rape his 13-year-old cousin. Prosecutors say he also used a knife, VCR and crowbar as weapons against his cousin and her brother. A jury has still not reached a verdict. |
| Foreign African Alfred Tamba attending Idaho State arrested for attempted rape - (temp link - content will change) Pocatello police officers arrested Alfred Tamba, 21, 1236 E. Clark St., on an accusation of attempted rape and forcible sex with a foreign object. The alleged assault occurred late in 2004, with a former female acquaintance. The victim recently reported the incident after she observed someone gained access with a key to her apartment in Pocatello and cut the groin area out of several clothing items and underwear, and cut stuffed animals and damaged a 35mm camera and DVD player. She reported $450 in cash also was stolen. Police described Tamba as a foreign national who is attending Idaho State University. Tamba is currently in custody, police said. |
Reno Police arrest Garcia , three others in brutal gang rape, seek additional suspect Reno police say four suspects in the brutal gang rape of two teenage girls have been arrested and they are asking for the public's help in finding one who is still on the run. Police say three juvenile boys and one 18-year-old are in custody and they are still looking for the fifth suspect. Broome says someone at the scene recorded the incident and they are seeking a copy that recording. "It was recorded on a phone camera, and it could've been passed around the school." The only adult arrested in connection with the case, 18-year-old Paul Garcia of Reno, is charged with one count of sexual assault. |
