A visiting priest from Africa was arrested yesterday on charges of fondling a 16-year-old girl  A visiting priest from Africa was arrested on charges of fondling a 16-year-old girl in the rectory of a Brooklyn church. The Rev. Anthony Ocloo, 45, a student at St. John's University who arrived from Ghana nine months ago, denied the allegations at his arraignment on misdemeanor charges of sex abuse and child endangerment. Prosecutors said Ocloo molested the teen in the rectory of St. Ephrem's, the parish where he has lived since his arrival from Ghana. The Assistant District Attorney said the victim was stuffing envelopes beside Ocloo at the rectory when the priest allegedly lowered the blinds and began to hug, kiss and grope her. Sports: Ex-Wrestler Indicted in Prostitution Ring Case - "a ruthless pimp"  A wrestler who was once known as "Hardbody Harrison" has been indicted on charges of running a prostitution ring and using beatings and sexual assault to keep eight women in sexual slavery. Federal authorities say Harrison Norris Jr. was a ruthless pimp who kept the women virtual prisoners in two Cartersville homes he owned. Aimee Allen, 33 and Cedric Lamar Jackson, 39 have also been charged. "From April 2004 to August 2005, the defendants recruited and sometimes kidnapped young women and then forced them to engage in prostitution in the Atlanta metropolitan area for their financial benefit," said an indictment. - (NNN Newsroom) - (crime) - (more sports) |
Women Take Stand In Rape Trial Of Nigerian Migrant OB-GYN  SEATTLE -- Women who accused a local gynecologist of raping and molesting them during exams took the stand Tuesday in the trial of Dr. Charles Momah. Momah faces charges of rape and indecent liberties. Seven women said he touched them in a sexual manner. Two of women testified Tuesday about how they felt on the exam table. "It was more like the way my husband would touch me," said one of the women. "I pulled back … because it was uncomfortable. It didn't feel right, it made me very uneasy." Principal Reacts to Rape Incident at Local School The principal at Laney High School is trying to calm parents concerned about school safety because a student is accused of raping a classmate in a school bathroom. A letter went home with Laney students, detailing the incident last week. 17-year-old Marcus Robinson is charged with the kidnapping and sexual assault of a female student. Man Arrested In Connection With Kidnapping, Assault of Woman  OMAHA, Neb. -- A man is under arrest on suspicion of kidnapping and assault after an incident on Sunday. Omaha police said they arrested Timothy Marzettie, 33, on suspicion of false imprisonment of Brandi McDade, 25, at the Areo Hotel at 16th and Cuming streets. Officers found Marzettie and McDade after locating a car that matched a denoscription from an Iowa kidnapping and assault incident. McDade told police she was being held against her will by Marzettie, and that he had assaulted her. - (crime) |
Mario Garcia arrested in case of missing woman * Have You Seen Christie Wilson?  LINCOLN, Calif. -- A man called "a person of interest" in the case of a missing Sacramento-area woman was expected to make bail Monday morning on unrelated charges. Mario F. Garcia, 53, was arrested on two felony counts involving possession of a weapon. He has been interviewed by authorities in connection with Christie Wilson, who disappeared from the Thunder Valley Casino parking lot 12 days ago. Investigators said that Garcia was seen on surveillance videotape playing cards with Wilson, then walking to the parking lot with her. Garcia was arrested on unrelated weapons charges after investigators found an illegal club and firearms in his home and car. Man who raped woman at a local park may be a serial rapist PORTLAND, Ore. - Police are warning that a man convicted of raping a woman in a popular Portland park is actually a serial rapist. Kevin Walls is suspected of attacking at least five different women, based on DNA analysis. He was convicted of eight felonies, including rape, sodomy, using a weapon, kidnapping, attempted rape, and sex abuse. In the most recent assault Walls drove up to a 28-year-old woman as she waited for a bus, and asked her for directions. Walls then threatened the woman with a knife and ordered her inside his truck then took the woman to a secluded trail on Mount Tabor and raped her. - (crime) - (Northwest) |
Suspect In Shooting Of Central Fla. Deputy Captured In Brunswick   BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- A man suspected of shooting an Orange County, Fla., deputy earlier this week as well several other felony charges was captured overnight by Glynn County police. Jeffrey Forbes, 22, was taken into custody after police evacuated guests in adjacent rooms. Forbes was wanted for aggravated assault, aggravated battery, kidnapping a child under 13 years of age and armed burglary of an occupied dwelling, and probation violation. He was named as a suspect in the shooting of Orange County Deputy Adam Pierce. Pierce was trying to break up an apparent drug deal when he was shot. He remains in serious condition at Orlando Regional Medical Center Friday. Also arrested was Rachelle Jean Marie who as in the room with Forbes. Tribble killed girlfriend - tryed to make it look like 'suicide' - Police say
CINCINNATI -- Police said a man shot and killed his girlfriend and tried to make it look like a suicide. Police said they filed a murder warrant for Virgil Tribble, 39, in connection with the death of Renay Blunt, 21. Tribble has an extensive criminal history and should be considered armed and dangerous, police said. Police said they responded to a 911 call at 4:50 a.m. Monday and found Blunt dead from a gunshot. Man Sentenced in murder of his wife and brother * Man gets two life sentences for killing wife, brother LIBERTY, Mo. – A metro man who admitted to killing his wife and brother was sentenced to two consecutive life terms plus 100 years in prison. Twenty-seven-year-old Vincent D. Cooley was charged with first-degree murder, but pleaded guilty to reduced charges in the November 2002 shooting deaths of of Melody Cooley, 21, and Antoine Cooley, 19. Cooley says he snapped when he caught the two of them kissing. He says he shot both of them with an AK-47 and then cut his wife’s throat. Antoine Cooley had moved in with the couple after his recent release from jail. Vincent Cooley was charged in 1999 in the murder of Clifton Aaron, 21. Sports: Black Killer of 71-year-old White Jackson County Sports Official Sentenced - Tyrone was turned in by his own mother   A 30-year sentence has been handed to the man who murdered 71-year-old Jackson County Sports Authority Director John M. Friedmann. 19-year-old Tyrone Tucker, who was 17 at the time of the killing, was turned in by his own mother who - according to testimony - used the reward money to buy drugs. Tucker used a gun to try to rob Friedmann at a Kansas City car wash in December of 2003. A struggle ensued and Friedmann was shot. Man Found Guilty of Murdering WSB-TV Secretary in 1986 * D.A. Wins Cold Case Conviction ATLANTA -- A jury convicted a man accused of murdering and sexually assaulting a WSB-TV receptionist 19 years ago. Richard Hambrick, 49, was found guilty on all counts in the 1986 slaying of Clydine Dallas, a receptionist for WSB-TV/Channel 2. Her body was found 19 years ago on the floor of her bedroom by her daughter. Hambrick was immediately sentenced to serve two consecutive life sentences after the jury returned its verdict. A lawyer for Hambrick argued that his client had sex with the woman but that "it was consensual". The defense also argued that the woman was slain by someone else after Hambrick had sex with the woman. - (White Boy) - (crime) |
TV Show Helps Nab Sexual Predator CLEVELAND, OH -- It seems the long arm of the law was given a big boost by the long arm of television. We first told you about 50-year-old Niles Scott last July, that's when he was our featured Fugitive of the Week. Accused of kidnapping and raping a 12-year-old girl, Scott took off when he made bond three years ago. East Cleveland detectives wanted him behind bars. It turns out that Scott made it all the way from East Cleveland to the country of Belize in Central America, where he was driving a taxi. But last Tuesday, when Oprah Winfrey did a show about finding Scott and catching accused sexual predators, the people in Belize were watching. - (crime) |
Killer will be executed for slayings of two cousins in 2000 A 24-year-old Lakeland man was sentenced Wednesday to die for the execution-style shootings of two cousins in April 2000. Tavares Jerrod Wright remained stoic, returning Polk Circuit Judge Dick Prince's gaze as the judge finished imposing two death sentences upon him. "May God have mercy on your soul," Prince said. Wright also received five consecutive life sentences for related charges of carjacking and two counts each of kidnapping and robbery. Afterward, family and friends of the victims, James "Jimbo" Felker and David Lee Green, shared tears and hugs outside the courtroom. Felker's father, Dennis, said "Now it's his turn to fear for his life." |
Low-down "Youth Worker" Accused Of Sodomizing Boy  KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A former youth counselor hired to help troubled boys is accusing of sexually assaulting a minor. Tommy Mclaurin, 26, was charged with statutory sodomy after several alleged encounters with a 12-year-old male student. He's being held on $75,000 bond. Mclaurin was a supervisor of boys between the ages of 5 and 17 at Gillis Center in south Kansas City, which is an education facility for at-risk children. A boy told police he saw Mclaurin on his knees in front of a classmate. When the victim was questioned, he told officers that Mclaurin had allegedly done this several times. Man Indicted on 83 Sex Charges ranging from statutory rape to child molestation A grand jury has indicted a 36-year-old man on 83 felony counts ranging from statutory rape to child molestation. Eighty of the counts against Phillip Moore charge him with sexual exploitation of a minor. Atlanta police officers started to receive complaints about a man asking children to get inside his car for money. One child was able to provide the license tag number to his grandmother, who contacted the police. An officer spotted the vehicle and arrested Moore, who was charged with four counts of criminal attempt to commit enticing a child for indecent purposes. - (-88-) - (crime) |
