Whites Now Minority in 1 in 10 Counties "There's some culture shock," said Mark Mather of the Population Reference Bureau, a Washington-based research agency. "But I think there is a momentum building, and it is going to continue." As of 2006, non-Hispanic whites made up less than half the population in 303 of the nation's 3,141 counties, according to figures the Census Bureau is releasing Thursday. Non-Hispanic whites were a minority in 262 counties in 2000, up from 183 in 1990. The Census Bureau's report has population estimates by race and ethnicity for every county in the nation. They are the first such estimates since Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast in 2005, scattering hundreds of thousands of people. - (Newsroom) - (Invasion!) |

On May 20 around 10:20 p.m., the unnamed victim and her two friends, one male and one female, were walking in the park when a man later identified as William Bates, 19, walked up to the group and asked them if they were friend’s with someone he knew. . The group said no and tried to walk away, but Bates reportedly brandished a handgun and stole their cell phones, before ordering two of the people to sit under a short bridge, Thacker said. “Then he starts talking to her and says, ‘you’re going to do me a favor,’ then orders her to take her pants off and he proceeded to have sexual intercourse with her,” Thacker said. - (Newsroom) |

Donald Francis was looking for spare change from passersby when he approached Geraldine Beasley in the parking lot of a gas station. South Carolina Police Charge 2 Islamic Students With Having Several Pipe Bombs Near Navy Base  S.C. — Two men found with several pipe bombs in their car near a Navy base were charged Monday with possession of an explosive device, authorities said. A joint state-federal investigation was under way to see whether there was any terrorism connection but no link had been found yet, said FBI spokeswoman Denise Taiste. The Navy base is the site of a brig where enemy combatants have been held. Ahmed Abda Sherf Mohamed, 24, and Yousef Samir Megahed, 21, both students at the University of South Florida in Tampa, were driving through the area on Saturday to vacation at a North Carolina beach for Mohamed's birthday, their defense attorney said. - (Newsroom) |

Hip-hop DJ Hollywood Bay Bay charge with rape A local DJ who has garnered national attention from his connection to a hit rap song is behind bars in connection with a rape investigation. DJ Hollywood Bay Bay, whose real name is Terrance Stewart, is charged with one count each of simple rape and intimidation of a witness. Stewart was arrested this afternoon and booked into the Shreveport City Jail. Investigators say an employee at Kokopelli’s found a woman lying drunk and unconscious about 4 a.m. Thursday on the downtown night club’s second floor. Party allegedly leads to rape of teen A forensics expert could testify as early as today in the trial of a Baltimore man accused of raping a teenage girl. Kenyon McCullough, 18, faces second-degree rape and other charges after being accused of raping the girl at a January 2006 party after she had passed out from drinking too much alcohol. "Just because someone drinks too much doesn’t give someone the right to have sex with them without their consent: The defense attorney didn’t deny that McCullough and the girl had sex that night. Black Berlin Man Arrested for Rape BERLIN, Md.- Police have arrested a Berlin man accused of raping a 40-year-old woman. According to police with the Worcester Bureau of Investigation, the alleged victim checked into Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury saying that she had been raped in Berlin. After police interviewed the alleged victim at the hospital, they say they were able to identify 42-year-old Preston Lewis Whaley Jr. as the suspect . |
Thai migrant Terapon Adhahn's alleged blonde rape victim speaks up  With accused child killer Terapon Adhahn now in jail, another alleged rape victim is breaking her silence. After Adhahn was charged with the rape of Sabrina Rasmussen, the 19-year-old sat down with KOMO 4's George Howell to share her terrifying tale. We rarely see the faces of victims of rape, or hear their stories. But in this case, Rasmussen decided to speak out, hoping that her story might inspire other victims to come forward. Rasmussen was just 11 years old when a man grabbed her on her way to school. She was raped and left in a field in Fort Lewis. Rasmussen couldn't fight her attacker physically, but she never stopped challenging him. "He's like, 'be good, don't scream. I'm not going to hurt you, I'm not going to hurt you," she remembered being told. Rasmussen said she didn't expect to survive that day. "You know, that was luck right there. Georgia Supreme Court will hear appeal of black who killed White police officer  The Georgia Supreme Court agreed Friday to hear the discretionary appeal of convicted cop killer Troy Anthony Davis, whose scheduled execution last month was put on hold by the state Board of Pardons and Paroles. Through a translator, one of the alleged victims testified Thursday that he was approached by Avina on Nov. 15, 2004, as he walked home from school. The boy, now 15, speaks English but said he felt more comfortable testifying in his native Spanish.
