Police Arrest Negro In Home Invasion Case * Family Grieves White Mother Of 3 Shot To Death   Police arrested the man they were interested in questioning in regard to a home invasion shooting that left a woman clinging to life and her daughter hospitalized Monday morning 40-year-old Dorothy Jean McReynolds and her 19-year-old daughter, Kelly Brooks, were both shot by a gunman dressed in black while inside of their home on the 1900 block of Coolidge Street. Police said the women may have been targeted by the gunman and detectives are currently trying to determine the identity of the suspect, but they did say Billy James Lewis was a person of interest they wanted to talk to about this shooting. According to police, McReynolds was scheduled to testify in an armed robbery case against Lewis this week. Tuesday night, police announced his arrest and charged him with violation of pre-trial release.Instead of celebrating Mother's Day on Sunday, a South Florida family prepared to bury a mother of three who was shot and killed last Monday, one hour before she was scheduled to testify in an armed robbery case. The memory of 40-year-old Dorothy Jean McReynolds is all that's left for her three children and her husband. "I want my wife to be remembered for the strong person that she was," said Ken McReynolds, the victim's husband. "To me this has been a complete and utter shock."Dorothy McReynold's 19-year-old daughter, Kelly Burke was asleep on the couch during the shooting. She woke up to the commotion and was shot in the leg. Burke survived the attack. During the shooting, Dorothy's 8-month-old granddaughter was sleeping in a playpen nearby but was not hurt. Woman beaten and gang-raped in home invasion - one black in custody Memphis Police have charged a man in connection to the Friday home invasion, robbery, and sexual assault of a woman and her son in the Chickasaw Gardens neighborhood. According to investigators, Marchello Hurst, 24, and another suspect broke into a home in the 300 block of Goodwyn just before 3:00 p.m. Friday. Once inside, the suspects pointed a gun at the woman and her son, demanding money and jewelry. The suspects then ordered the woman into another room, where police say she was beaten and sexually assaulted. - (Newsroom) - (crime) |
Black Airman gets away with murder of White woman 'airman' in Iceland * Verdict upsets Turner’s parents   BOLLING AIR FORCE BASE, D.C. — The parents of Airman 1st Class Ashley Turner, who was murdered in 2005 at a military base in Iceland, said Thursday they are outraged at the speed with which the jury returned a “not guilty” verdict to her alleged attacker. Eight Air Force officers and six enlisted members declared Airman Calvin Eugene Hill not guilty of murder just “five hours and 11 minutes” after the judge sent them into seclusion to discuss the evidence accumulated over two the years it has taken for the case to come to trial, Ashley’s mother Lisa Turner said in a telephone interview Thursday. “They just wanted to get it done and get out of there,” Turner said. “It was a travesty of justice.” “I think the jury was concerned about getting home in time to avoid rush-hour traffic,” Larry Turner, who is divorced from Lisa, said in a separate telephone interview Thursday. - (Newsroom) - (crime) - (Black-on-white) |

The two victims were white; the five defendants are black     KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- In a powerful demonstration of the way the Internet has opened up the mainstream media to intensive second-guessing, bloggers are charging that news outlets have ignored the rape and murder of a young Knoxville couple because of the racial implications of the story. The two victims were white; the five defendants are black. The critics include mainstream conservatives, such as the National Review, and white "supremacists". They have drawn comparisons to the Duke lacrosse rape case and wondered why the killings of Channon Christian, a 21-year-old University of Tennessee student, and her 23-year-old boyfriend Christopher Newsom are not getting the same attention from what the bloggers regard sneeringly as the liberal media. "Oh, that's right, the victims were WHITE!" several conservative blogs have observed. Or as National Review columnist Jack Dunphy commented online: "Uh oh, we're not supposed to talk about such things, are we." |
| Christian and Newsom were last seen Jan. 6. They were carjacked as they were leaving a friend's apartment. Newsom's shot and burned body was found the next day along the railroad tracks, and Christian's corpse was discovered two days later in a trash can at a house rented by one of the defendants. Both had been sexually assaulted. Household cleaner had been poured in her mouth to remove (black DNA) evidence, according to court records. Christian's father, Gary Christian, wore a Confederate flag T-shirt  to the first hearing for one of the defendants and then pointed at the man as if firing a gun.Among the bloggers who have questioned the media coverage is country singer Charlie Daniels. Police identify negro teen suspected in rape, beating of 81-year-old woman A 16-year-old neighborhood boy is the suspect in the beating and rape of an 81-year-old widow who was the victim of an apparently random attack at her home over the weekend, Shreveport police said today. Detectives this afternoon obtained a court order to arrest Calvin "C.J." Breakfield of Bienville Street on aggravated rape charges. He is expected to be prosecuted in Caddo District Court, where the penalty could be far tougher than allowed in juvenile court. He forced his way into the house and then began beating the woman and dragging her through the house before raping her. The woman was robbed -- including the contents of her piggy bank -- before her attacker left. - (Newsroom) - (crime) |
Three blacks accused of gang-raping a White girl - "A broom handle also was reportedly used"   LOCKPORT — The alleged victim in a gang rape last year testified Friday that she didn’t report the incident at first because she didn’t want to be seen as a racist. Three African-American 17- year-olds — Nicholas M. Smith and Dontre R. Woods, both of Lockport, and Dartaine M. Ubiles of Niagara Falls — are on trial in Niagara County Court, charged with raping the girl in Woods’ home. The girl is white. She was cross-examined Friday by defense attorneys for all three defendants. “At first I had it look like everything was willing because I didn’t want to lose all my friends, I didn’t want it to look like I was racist . . .” the girl told Smith’s attorney...“I tried to hide the truth to keep them from getting in trouble.” - (Newsroom) - (crime) - (Black-on-white) |
Negro teen charged with rape in series of break-ins Police said that a jailed teenager has been charged with rape, kidnapping and other charges connected to a string of burglaries and assaults. Darrian Dewayne Bryant, 17, was arrested in on seven counts of burglary in connection with break-ins in his neighborhood. Police charged him with rape, kidnapping, aggravated battery, child molestation, two counts of battery and four additional counts of burglary. The rape of a 15-year-old Parkview High School student during a break-in outraged the community.
