Kenyan Preacher Who Claimed Miracle Pregnancies Arrested In London A self styled preacher who claimed to help couples conceive "miracle babies" through prayer has been arrested in London to face kidnapping charges in Kenya. A Nairobi magistrate issued the international arrest warrant for 54 year old Gilbert Deya for his alleged role in a suspected child trafficking ring. Kenyan officials have been investigating allegations that some parents were told their newborns had died after the babies disappeared from a maternity hospital. Deya claimed to help infertile couples conceive "through the power of prayer and the Lord Jesus." But DNA tests showed that 20 of his "miracle babies" had no genetic connection to their supposed mothers. Deya was released on bond and faces another hearing next month. - (Newsroom) - (UK) - (Africa) * Foreign Preacher faces extradition over 'miracle babies' |
Sports: Ex-Cowboys QB faces drug charge Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Quincy Carter was arrested early Friday on a charge of possession of marijuana. Police arrived to a home they found Mr. Carter inside a house causing a disturbance, said Officer David Tull, police spokesman. Mr. Carter, who was booked into the jail under his full name Lavonya Quintelle Carter, was found with less than two ounces of marijuana. He was released from the Irving Jail after posting $500 bail, jail officials said. His bail was paid by Fort Worth Star-Telegram sports columnist Randy Galloway who said "I've had a lot of fun with Quincy over the years, his problems and everything else," Mr. Galloway said. "But it's Christmas and Quincy Carter is in jail, and I hate to see that happen. ... For him to be in the position today where he can't post a $500 bond, there's unfortunate problems in his life." - (Newsroom) - (Sports) |
