Black Muslim Sears Tower 'plot' trial begins MIAMI (AFP) — US prosecutors claimed on Tuesday seven members of a religious sect plotted to blow up buildings and shoot survivors but defense lawyers told a federal court in Miami the defendants were merely trying to trick Al-Qaeda into giving them money. "These defendants came together for one sole purpose, to wage a holy war against the United States," government prosecutor Richard Gregorie said in his opening arguments in the bizarre case of alleged homegrown terrorism. The defense team insisted the case was a double confidence trick. The lawyers argued that the accused feigned interest in carrying attacks in order to get money from a man who pretended to be an Al-Qaeda operative but who in reality was an informant who pushed the alleged plot along to get paid by the FBI. The defendants, known as the "Liberty City Seven" after the predominantly African-American Miami neighborhood where they lived, are accused of plotting to blow up the 108-story Sears Tower in Chicago and other buildings in the United States. The government alleges the men pledged allegiance to Al-Qaeda in an oath administered by one of two FBI informants. Afro sports; Isiah Thomas sexually harassed executive NEW YORK (Reuters) - New York Knicks coach Isiah Thomas sexually harassed a female executive of the basketball team, a jury decided on Tuesday, and it awarded her $11.6 million in punitive damages from team owner Madison Square Garden and its chairman James Dolan. The seven-person federal jury ruled that Anucha Browne Sanders, former marketing executive for the NBA team, was wrongly fired in retaliation for her complaints of sexual harassment. Police searching for black gunman that shot the white son of a city official - leaving him paralyzed  Police announced today that they have identified the gunman who shot Daren Dieter in East Oak Lane last month and left him paralyzed from the neck down. Now they need help finding the fugitive. Authorities released a picture of Tyree Bohannon, 21, and charged him with attempted murder, aggravated assault, firearm violations and related offenses. Bohannon is considered dangerous. Authorities ask that anyone with information about his whereabouts call 911 or 215-685-2838. Bohannon is accused of firing two bullets into Dieter, 24, at point-blank range in the parking lot of Shrimpie's Bar. Black criminal charged with crime of burning cross into his own yard - arrested for unrelated felony  ANOKA, Minn. (AP) - De'Andre June told police he woke up Wednesday morning to find the charred outline of a cross burned in the lawn of his home. June now is accused of burning the cross in the lawn himself. The 47-year-old Anoka man was charged with falsely reporting a crime. He also is charged with disorderly conduct and obstructing the legal process stemming from an altercation when police arrested him Thursday afternoon on a felony warrant in connection with a financial fraud case. According to the criminal complaint, inmates at the Anoka County jail told authorities that June was planning such a ruse. "Inmates from the Anoka County Jail saw the news story on TV and recognized Mr. June," said Capt. Subhuman negro who slaughtered White girl found guilty * Forrestry captain arrested in '84 killing  A 46-year-old Department of Forestry captain was unable to escape his past Friday as a jury found him guilty in the murder of a Whittier woman 23 years ago. Robin Hoynes' three sisters and mother clutched their hands together, and someone whispered, "Yes," as a court clerk announced that William Marshall was guilty. Marshall showed no reaction to the verdict. He returns to court Oct. 26 for sentencing to a mandatory term of life in prison without the possibility of parole. The jury deliberated for about a day before finding Marshall guilty of first-degree murder, a special circumstance of killing during an attempted robbery and using a deadly weapon. Marshall killed Hoynes, a 21-year-old restaurant manager, when he returned to rob the Kentucky Fried Chicken where he once worked. Three black afro-negroid teens murder 12-year-old White girl in home invasion     Three teens were charged with murder Monday night in connection with the slaying of a 12-year-old girl in her Moore County home last week. Authorities arrested Van Roger Smith Jr., 16, and Sherrod Nicholas Harrison, 19, Monday afternoon. After a search, the Moore County Sheriff's Office took Michael Graham Currie, 18, into custody Monday night. All three teens were charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of breaking and entering. All are from Cameron. Twelve-year-old Emily Elizabeth Haddock was shot to death Friday in her home on Marks Road outside of Vass, authorities said. The girl had stayed home from school with strep throat and was alone. "(She was) very quiet, soft spoken, always had a smile. TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — A gunman who told 911 dispatchers to "follow the screams" before wounding seven people in a shopping mall and taking four others hostage for several hours was convicted Tuesday of attempted murder and other crimes. 
CLEVELAND -- Cleveland Police say 22-year-old Amber Hill has been charged with 2 counts of aggravated murder in the deaths of her young daughters. Police say the 2 and 4-year-old girls were found Monday in the bathtub of the family's apartment. Cuyahoga County Coroner, Dr. Frank Miller, conducted autopsies on the girls and determined the cause of death as drowning. He ruled their deaths homicides, after which the charges were filed against Hill. Hill is in police custody and is expected to be arraigned Wednesday morning in the deaths 2-year old
