  Authorities said the man, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador, did not meet the girl until after she moved to the United States in 2000 as a 13-year-old. Their sexual relationship began around that time, prosecutor Mike D'Andrea said. A father who raped his teenage daughter over several years and ordered her to throw two newborns he had fathered with her down an air shaft was sentenced to 35 years in prison. The 45-year-old West New York man pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter, aggravated assault and two counts of aggravated sexual assault. The Associated Press is not identifying him to protect the identity of his daughter, the victim of a sex crime. One of the babies survived and is in foster care.   LOS ANGELES -- Students wrested a gun away from a University of Southern California student who had been asked to leave an off-campus party after threatening a young woman, police said Tuesday. Zao Xing Yang, 19, was arrested early Sunday and is being held without bail, Chief William Bratton said at a news conference. Some students at the party, held at a student's home, overheard Yang making intimidating statements to the woman and threatening her with violence about 3 a.m. Sunday, Bratton said. Yang began arguing with the host, who noticed Yang was holding a gun, he said. "Several students wrestled the gun away from Yang and held him until campus security and then LAPD officers arrived," Bratton said. Detectives searched Yang's off-campus room Monday and found a safe containing methamphetamine packaged for sale, a .44-caliber Magnum revolver and several hundred dollars in cash, Bratton said. Yang is charged with making criminal threats, assault with a firearm and personal use of a handgun. If convicted, he faces up to 18 years in prison.

  TOLEDO, Ohio -- Four men pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges that they plotted to recruit and train terrorists to attack U.S. and allied troops overseas. Zubair A. Ahmed, Mohammad Zaki Amawi, Marwan Othman El-Hindi and Wassim I. Mazloum are accused of conspiring to kill or maim people outside the United States, including military personnel in Iraq. A fifth man, Khaleel Ahmed, 26, pleaded not guilty to similar charges last month. He and Zubair Ahmed, 27, are cousins from Illinois. Amawi, El-Hindi and Mazloum live in Ohio. All are U.S. citizens except Mazloum, who came to the U.S. legally from Lebanon.

  NEW YORK -- A civil rights lawyer convicted of helping an imprisoned terrorist sheik communicate with his disciples was disbarred Tuesday. The New York Supreme Court's Appellate Division denied Lynne Stewart's request to voluntarily resign from the practice of law. Stewart was convicted in 2005 of providing material support to terrorists. She had released a statement issued by one of her clients, Omar Abdel-Rahman, a blind sheik sentenced to life in prison for plotting to blow up five New York landmarks and assassinate Egypt's president.

Fourth Sexual Assault Linked to Arizona Hispanic Serial Rapist Suspect
Chandler police said Tuesday that a fourth sexual assault has been linked to a serial rapist accused of attacking teenage girls in their homes.Police said the latest assault linked to the investigation occurred between 6 and 6:30 a.m. on June 4, 2006. The 12-year-old victim was assaulted in her home after her parents left for work. Fear caused the girl to wait more than seven months before telling her parents about the attack, but evidence backs up the girl's story, investigators said. Police said the evidence also links the girl's assault to three later sexual assault incidents involving four other girls.Investigators say the rapist is a Hispanic man who targets teenage girls in single-parent homes after the parent has left for work. - (Newsroom)
