• Mexican Gov't Blasts Killing of Agressive Illegal Mexican Migrant
  The Mexican government sent a diplomatic note to the United States on Tuesday protesting the fatal shooting of a Mexican immigrant by a U.S. Border Patrol agent. Francisco Javier Dominguez-Rivera, 22, of Puebla, Mexico, was killed Friday in a confrontation with the unidentified agent north of the U.S.-Mexico border in Arizona between Bisbee and Douglas. A group of seven people were crossing the desert and the agent took six of them into custody without incident, authorities said. But the agent and Dominguez-Rivera began fighting, authorities said. The agent, who believed his life was in danger, shot and killed the man, the Border Patrol said previously. An autopsy was scheduled Wednesday. - (Newsroom) - (Invasion!)

• 'Murderous' suicide bombs plot
  LONDON, England (CNN) -- Six men plotted to carry out a series of "murderous suicide bombings" on London's public transport system, a court has been told. The men were engaged in an "extremist Muslim plot" to target the capital on July 21, 2005, Woolwich Crown Court heard on Monday. The attacks would have happened just 14 days after the "carnage" of the July 7 London bombings, which killed 52 commuters and four bombers, the court heard. The jury was told that the conspiracy "had been in existence long before the events of July 7" and did not appear to be some "hastily arranged copycat," prosecutor Nigel Sweeney told the court. The devices were made using a mix of liquid hydrogen peroxide, chapati flour, acetone and acid, the court heard. Each bomb was placed in a large plastic container in a knapsack and screws, tacks, washers or nuts, were taped to the outside to "maximize the possibility of injury," - (UK)

2004 rape and beating draws 46 years to life for Spanish-speaking day laborer Raul Salvador Marin
A slender young woman rose on unsteady legs and told a judge through quivering lips Friday that the man who sexually assaulted her, beat her with a rock and left her for dead should be put away for the rest of his life. The 23-year-old Massachusetts woman – identified in court as Jane Doe – cannot remember anything about being chased down a dirt path in Trabuco Canyon in June 2004, or about being attacked amid scrub brush and cacti. She told Orange County Superior Court Judge that because of her ordeal, she is no longer confident in life and is still recovering from her injuries. And then she sat back in the courtroom gallery, where she was comforted by her mother, as the judge sentenced Raul Salvador Marin, 33, to 46-years-to-life in prison. Marin, a day laborer who admitted the attack, sat quietly a few feet away listening to the proceedings through a Spanish-speaking interpreter. The judge Hoffer said the beating demonstrated a "high degree of cruelty and viciousness," and that Marin would be a "very old man" if he ever became eligible for parole. - (Newsroom) - (crime)
