Rape charges filed against black male 7 years before arrest MILWAUKEE -- Prosecutor Norm Gahn filed had what he thought was strong evidence: the rapist's semen, taken from five young victims. The man charged in the rapes, Rodney Washington, appeared in court Thursday and waived his right to a preliminary hearing after four victims testified. . John Doe No. 5 -- with a genetic code that prosecutors say matches Washington's -- was charged March 17, 2000, with four counts of first-degree sexual assault, one count of second-degree sexual assault and three counts of robbery. The rapes occurred in Milwaukee between March 1994 and January 1995. Washington, 49, is accused of approaching the females -- who ranged in age from 14 to 20 -- on the street. He allegedly forced them into secluded areas such as alleys, abandoned buildings or woods, then raped them. - (Newsroom) - (crime) |
