Searching for "White" man that shot ex-girlfriend sister's boyfriend and kidnaped ex and 4 kids Ind. — Police and federal agents extended their search to Chicago on Sunday for four illegitimate children and their mother, whose ex-boyfriend authorities say shot a man and kidnapped them in Indiana the day before. Authorities have issued an Amber Alert and said the children and their mother, 31-year-old Kimberly N. Walker, were in extreme danger. Walker and Jerry D. White, 30, the father of the four children, once lived in Chicago, and White has family there, police said. About 2 a.m. Saturday, White broke into Walker's house and shot her sister's boyfriend, Wargo said. Police said White held everyone hostage until about 11:30 a.m., when he fled with his five hostages in the Dodge, which belongs to Walker's sister. Walker's sister was then able to call police. Her boyfriend, whose name was not released, was in serious condition Sunday, police said. Walker and White's children are Jaylan Walker, 9; Justin Walker, 8; Kyara Walker, 6; and 16-month-old Kayla Walker. - (Newsroom) - (crime) |
Rape case spotlights danger of a convicted sex offender who is also "mentally retarded" For years, police and the state Department of Mental Retardation have tried to keep an eye on James Pells, a convicted sex offender who is also mentally retarded. Barnstable police arrested Pells when he failed to register as a sex offender in 2004 and notified school officials when they spotted him behind Barnstable Middle School. DMR arranged for Pells to share an apartment with a roommate/supervisor, who received free rent and a stipend to monitor Pells. But the system designed to protect both Pells and the public apparently failed when a woman accused Pells of raping her in his bedroom after she passed out during a party last summer while his roommate/supervisor slept in another room wearing earplugs. |

Officer Charged With Rape Denies Incident A Baltimore police officer charged with rape has told jurors that "nothing sexual happened" during what he said was a routine arrest of a woman. Jemini Jones took the stand yesterday and made his first public statements about the case against him. He told the mostly female jury that he "never had sexual intercourse with that woman." The woman, who's now 23, has testified that Jones coerced her into having sex with him in December 2005 inside a police station house. He's also accused off threatening to charge her with possession of crack cocaine in addition to the marijuana she admitted was hers. Jones told the jury yesterday that he never did such a thing. Jurors are expected to begin deliberating Monday. - (Newsroom) - (crime) |
Teacher Aide Suspected of Rape Qualified to Teach When is a teacher or teacher's aide unfit to serve in the classroom? It's a serious question in light of the arrest of an Elmore County educator on a rape charge. We first told you about Patrick Epkins' arrest Thursday night. Friday, his employer told us Epkins was qualified to work in a classroom. But a check of his state criminal background might make you wonder how that's possible. - (Newsroom) - (crime) Elmore County School Employee Charged With Rape of 14-Year-Old Student |
