Sports: Olympic Medalist Facing Child Sex Charge Two-time Olympic gold medalist Angelo Taylor was arrested when a police officer allegedly found him having sex with a 15-year-old girl in a parked car. Taylor, 26, of Decatur was charged Thursday with one count each of child molestation and enticing a child for indecent purposes. Two blacks held in 1970 killing of White officer Two men indicted in connection with a 34-year-old ambush killing of St. Paul police officer James Sackett were arrested.. Authorities are hopeful that the charges against Ronald Reed and Larry Clark will help them close the only unsolved police killing in St. Paul. Sackett, 27, was fatally shot in an ambush May 22, 1970. He had been on the force for 18 months and was working his first shift after the birth of his fourth child, who was three weeks old at the time. Authorities identified Reed as a black militant. A social worker testified that she saw posters in Trimble's apartment that advocated killing "pigs" and "whitey." - (Brewski) |
Woman shot and stabbed to death in hospital bed by her son Tyrone Police say a 30-year-old man stabbed his mother to death as she lay in her hospital bed. Janice Marie Hollis, 62, is believed to have been hospitalized for a heart attack. When she was in the room alone, investigators say her son entered the room, shot her stabbed her several times. Officers found Tyrone Hollis walking in the area approximately twenty minutes after the initial call at the hospital. He was arrested without incident - (Tyrone N. Butts) |

Hawaii: Hate crime case ends with Puka’s guilty plea A hate crime accusation against a Kona man has been dropped in exchange for a guilty plea to six lesser charges related to a nighttime attack last year. Henry "Puka" Bell had been charged with 13 crimes in connection with an attack by several people on a group of campers at Makalawena Beach. Police estimated that up to 50 people were involved in the incident just before midnight, in which attackers drove vehicles through campsites, smashed vehicles and attacked people. Those involved in the attack were generally identified as "local," while the victims were identified as Caucasian. - (Aetius) |

Black brutally pistol-whips and carjacks White 69-year-old nun Sister Margaret Faherty was pistol-whipped and pummeled just before 7 a.m. when she failed to surrender her car fast enough to the lowlife. She suffered a broken nose, bruises and cuts to her face but was thankfully was not sexually assaulted. The suspect who beat Faherty may be the same black man who carjacked and raped a 34-year-old woman 24 hours earlier, just three blocks away. - (The Bobster) |
Attempted Abduction, Carjacking, Outside Hampton Elementary Schools Hampton police have arrested a black they say tried to abduct a four-year old student outside one elementary school and attempted a carjacking outside a second. Police say Steven Lavonne Morris entered Spratley Middle School Thursday and signed himself in as a parent picking up a student. When he was refused he attempted to carjack a woman. He then walked to Smith Elementary School and reached out for a four year old student waiting for a ride. The child screamed and ran to her mother. When another woman nearby confronted Morris an argument developed and Morris struck the woman before leaving. - (Tyrone N. Butts) |
Charged with murder, Andre Bell is at large Cassandra Jent is alive today because she played dead after she was shot in the head last October. Prosecutors said that Andre Bell jumped out of a closet in the apartment he had shared with Jent with a gun in his hand and said to her and a female friend: "Who wants to be first?" Bell now faces a possible death sentence for killing the friend, but first police have to catch him. He is charged with fatally shooting Jent's friend Stephanie Bowling and then putting the gun to Jent's head and pulling the trigger. - (Hellcat, Tyrone N. Butts) |
Detectives issue child rape warrant for Victor Valasco Hernandez Detectives have issued a warrant against a man they believe a missing 13-year-old girl might be with. Deputies are looking for Victor Valasco Hernandez. The warrant against Hernandez is for raping a child. The arrest has nothing to do with Ana Louisa Acevedo, although investigators say they believe she is with Hernandez. It has been over a week since Acevedo left her home in Castle Hayne. In a note to her parents, she told them she wanted more independence. |
