Black preacher's son charged with rape and murder of 99-year-old grandmother Authorities in Florida have charged a 17-year-old with sexually assaulting and killing a 99-year-old woman in her home early Tuesday morning. Initially, investigators called the death of Edith Mecalla, who was living with her 77-year-old daughter in Poinciana, Fla., "suspicious." But a medical examiner ruled that the woman's death was a homicide and that she had been the victim of a sexual battery. Deputies arrested Moise O. Opont on a felony warrant for burglary and battery to a person over 65 years old. . - (Newsroom) - (crime) |

Subhuman negro who slaughtered White girl found guilty * Forrestry captain arrested in '84 killing A 46-year-old Department of Forestry captain was unable to escape his past Friday as a jury found him guilty in the murder of a Whittier woman 23 years ago. Robin Hoynes' three sisters and mother clutched their hands together, and someone whispered, "Yes," as a court clerk announced that William Marshall was guilty. Marshall showed no reaction to the verdict. He returns to court Oct. 26 for sentencing to a mandatory term of life in prison without the possibility of parole. The jury deliberated for about a day before finding Marshall guilty of first-degree murder, a special circumstance of killing during an attempted robbery and using a deadly weapon. Marshall killed Hoynes, a 21-year-old restaurant manager, when he returned to rob the Kentucky Fried Chicken where he once worked. Although Marshall was always a suspect, he wasn't arrested until the case was reopened several years ago and he was indicted by a grand jury in 2006. - (Newsroom) - (crime) - (Black-on-white) |

Closing arguments in 1985 Black-on-White rape-murder trial in San Francisco Jurors heard closing arguments Thursday in a 22-year-old San Francisco murder case in which the only evidence against the defendant was DNA he allegedly left behind during the rape of the 28-year-old victim. Prosecutor Claudia Phillips said the odds that someone other than the defendant, John Davis, committed the Dec. 4, 1985, burglary, rape and fatal stabbing of Barbara Martz were in the quadrillions-to-1 and quintillions-to-1, based on the rarity of his DNA pattern. A quadrillion is a 1 followed by 15 zeroes; a quintillion is a 1 followed by 18 zeroes. "Modern science has finally caught up with Mr. Davis," Phillips told the jury in San Francisco Superior Court. "Modern science tells you who raped and murdered Barbara Martz." But Davis' defense attorney challenged the reliability of the DNA evidence while at the same time suggesting several theories, including that Martz may have had consensual sex with Davis sometime before the slaying and that someone else committed the killing. Davis told police, however, that he did not know Martz and had never been in her home. He told investigators, "I don't remember raping nobody," authorities said. - (Newsroom) - (crime) - (Black-on-white) |

Black arrested in shooting death of migrant cabbie SEATTLE (AP) - A trail of pennies led to the home of a teenager charged with killing a taxi driver and setting his cab afire, King County sheriff's deputies said. Earnest Lenell Collins Jr., 18, charged with first-degree murder in the shooting of Jagit Singh, a driver for Farwest Taxi, and his 16-year-old brother, sought on an unrelated fourth-degree assault warrant, were arrested in Chicago and were being held pending extradition, sheriff's Sgt. John Urquhart said. Robbery appeared to be the reason for the killing. Friends and associates told investigators Collins had been losing money gambling with dice at a housing project in Seattle and talked of "jacking someone" or robbing cab drivers to get cash. - (Newsroom) - (crime) |
Negro confesses to raping and murdering 85-year-old White woman in 1976 For more than 30 years, the gruesome murder of Mary Jane Barth remained unsolved, one of the department's oldest open cases. She was an 85-year-old retiree who had grown senile and often wandered away from home. On Sept. 17, 1976, police found her facedown inside Greenwood Cemetery. She had been raped and stabbed 27 times. Police worked overtime following leads. But the trail went cold. Then, last year, investigator Brenda Stevenson submitted DNA evidence to the state's crime lab, something police do regularly with cold cases in the hope of getting a break. And they did. Last month, police got word that the DNA from semen on a small piece of Barth's clothing matched a profile in an FBI database: Alfonzo Austin, 58, a convicted sex offender who was living in an apartment just outside Quincy in the Panhandle. He was surprised when officers showed up to arrest him. - (Newsroom) - (crime) - (Black-on-white) |

Most of the complaints stem from his employment at other nursing homes in Salt Lake County, specifically South Salt Lake and Holladay, Wihongi said. African migrant raped his paralyzed patient in her own hospital bed SEATTLE - A man who was accused of raping a paralyzed patient in her own hospital bed has been set free after a judge declared a mistrial due to a hung jury. Four jurors said there just isn't enough evidence to convict Lamin Darboe of the crime. One of the jurors said her gut feeling is Lamin Darboe is guilty, but based on the testimony and exhibits, she had to vote not guilty. Prosecutors insisted Darboe, a nursing assistant at Kindred Hospital, raped his own patient in her hospital bed. A stroke left the 32-year-old woman paralyzed and unable to speak. Darboe was responsible for her daily care, including sponge baths. While eight jurors said they would have found him guilty, four others could not be convinced. None of the jurors knew that this wasn't the first time Darboe was accused of a sex-related crime. The judge ruled his history inadmissible. In 2001, Darboe was charged with rape in Snohomish County. The case was dismissed. In 2003, another rape accusation, but Darboe was acquitted. And in 2002, Swedish Medical fired him for allegedly inappropriately touching a patient. The jury also didn't know that after Darboe was arrested, he fled the country to his native homeland of Gambia. A year later when he returned, he was arrested. - (Newsroom) - (crime) - (Invasion!) - (Northwest) |
Black migrant from Trinidad and Tobago arrested for serial rapes in NY An athlete from Trinidad and Tobago, who was part of the relay team at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, has been arrested in New York, accused of being a serial rapist. Alvin Henry, 30, was reportedly held on Sunday, shortly after he allegedly raped a woman who police said was his fifth victim in four years. Investigators dubbed the suspect the Lover's Lane rapist, because the crimes were carried out in public parks and the victims were involved in intimate trysts shortly before the attacks. He was arrested at a park when an alleged victim saw him and called the police. Henry was arrested when police allegedly traced calls he made on a cell phone to a 15-year-old girl who was allegedly assaulted. Investigators are said to have linked Henry to the June 26, 2003 rape of a 19-year-old at a Baisley Park in Jamaica, New York, the August 4 attempted rape of a woman at Roy Wilkens Park, Jamaica, and the assault, last April 27, of a 15-year-old girl in Prospect Park. Black Sex Offender Charged With Kidnap-Rape-Kill of White 11-year-old Jacksonville Girl In 1996 Fla. -- A Connecticut sex offender will be returned to Florida to face a murder charge after being linked to the decade-old rape and drowning of an 11-year-old girl through a database of DNA from convicted sex offenders. Robert Shelton Mitchell, 43, was being held on a $5 million bond after being arraigned as a fugitive. He will face first-degree murder and capital sexual battery charges in the death of Cherie Morrisette of Jacksonville. The Mandarin Middle School student body was found on Dec. 8, 1996, floating in the St. John's River about 10 miles south of the apartment she shared with her mother and sister. An autopsy determined that Cherie drowned shortly after her disappearance on Dec. 2, 1996, and was alive when she either fell into the river or was thrown in. Police labeled the death suspicious, and authorities found a small DNA sample on her underwear and body. Mitchell lived in nearby Middleburg at the time of the girl's death, police said Thursday. Mitchell later moved to Connecticut and was convicted in January 2003 of illegal sexual contact with another child. - (Black-on-White) |
