U.S. District Judge James Lawrence King threw out the suit against Miami-Dade County. He noted "compelling evidence" against Sgt. William Alsbury but said the county couldn't anticipate racially motivated intent when Alsbury used his patrol car to run down Detective Michael Perez. "While it might be unwise policy to permit racists to serve as county officers, (Perez) has not presented evidence that a 'plainly obvious consequence' of employing Alsbury would be the intentional, unlawful use of force against African-Americans." Perez, who is black, was not in uniform when he was chasing a Radio Shack robbery suspect on foot in 1995. Alsbury, who said he thought Perez was a suspect, claimed he hit the detective when he lost control of his car on wet grass.

"I had a Dream" - retiring a millionaire from a racial bias lawsuit.
I have a dream. I yearn to become a member of a ``protected class.''
by Howie Carr in the Boston Herald
"I want to be a victim too. I'm tired of working. And even though I was born here and I'm not the politically correct color, religion or gender, I demand the same free ride everybody else is getting.
It's the American way."

 * Lawyers Now Have Control of Nation Once Ruled by Law
Lawyers, as a rule, never tilled a field, repaired an automobile, built a product, managed a
profit-and-loss business, planned a manufacturing facility or, generally speaking, added
anything of tangible value to the gross national product.

 * There are some wrongs that cannot be paid for in dollars.
They must either be paid in blood or not at all.
Naturally, in our effeminate country, people love the lawsuit
as much as they love the lottery and the slot machine, and
they abhor and fear the idea of real justice. Money has
become the ultimate corrupter of Americans, more
powerful than sex or drugs. - Charley Reese Commentary
