Beach County jail to seek matches against a database of illegal
immigrants. But the immigration check does not cover juvenile
detention centers.
Cunningham arrived in the country in 2003 on a visitor
visa from the Bahamas. He was arrested three times last

immigration conference opens in Nevada amid protests

California and along the Canadian border, a group organizer said.

Illegal Asian immigrants caught in Goliad County
Sheriff Robert DeLaGarza
said more than a dozen Asians who appear to be illegal
immigrants were caught. DeLaGarza said the suspected
illegals had passports from the Republic of China. It
appears they are obtaining passports to enter Mexico as
tourists, then making their way to the United States border,
he said. A U.S.
Border Patrol agent who picked up the immigrants later in
the day told DeLaGarza the agency is seeing more
and more Chinese coming across the Mexican border.

In the first instance, a crane operator
spotted the Chinese immigrants. In the
second instance, private security guards discovered them. The cargo containers were
loaded at a Chinese port that does not
participate in a second Customs program. At least one of the
containers in which the Chinese immigrants
were hiding had been targeted for further investigation.

The deployment of 36,000 National Guard troops or state
militia on the U.S.-Mexico border would stop the illegal
flow of foreigners into America, says a congressional report
that credits the Minuteman Project with proving that
additional manpower could "dramatically reduce if not virtually
eliminate" illegal immigration.
The 33-page report, written by
investigators for the Congressional
Immigration Reform Caucus, said the Minutemen
— who shut down a 23-mile stretch of the Arizona border last
month — served as a model for a government effort to reclaim
the southern border of the United States.

Impregnating Stepdaughter, 10 A
Mexican man who admitted he repeatedly raped his 10-year-old
stepdaughter and eventually fathered her child was sentenced
Thursday to seven years in prison. Eleazar
Alvarado, 36, of Manhattan, was sentenced
after pleading guilty to a course of sexual conduct against a
child. He admitted that from August 2002 through September
2004 he had sex with the girl, his wife's daughter from a
previous marriage. He said the sexual activity with the
stepdaughter began as kissing and then touching when she was
9, and by the time she was 10 they were having sexual
intercourse. The girl gave birth at age 11
and the baby was given up for adoption. The judge said,
"You're probably going to be deported (to Mexico) after the
