  Man cleared of hate crime
A jury cleared a Fairbury man of charges claiming he spewed racial slurs at a black woman and threatened to hang her from a tree after the two argued over a parking space. Justin Mangler, 22, was acquitted of felony hate crime and misdemeanor disorderly conduct. The defense attorney successfully argued that although his client may have been impolite, he never used racial epithets or tried to intimidate the woman during the argument. - (Hellcat)

    A man charged with leaving threatening messages at an Islamic center said he made the calls in anger after learning last month that Islamic terrorists beheaded an American in Iraq. The charging document says George M. Doyle II made derogatory remarks about Allah and Islam, and threats such as "they better watch themselves."
 

 
  • A black man was charged with a hate crime in the attack of a white plumbing repair man by a pit bull
    Dion Ray Moore, 27, was arraigned Friday in Marin Superior Court on charges of attempted robbery, assault with a deadly weapon -- the dog. The incident occurred May 26, when 36-year-old Kirk Willwerth of Novato was called to repair a flooded apartment in a public housing complex. Willwerth said he was walking toward the entrance of a building when a group of men rushed toward him, shouting and swearing because he was a "white man." Willwerth said a man unleashed a pit bull while trying to frisk him for an electronic recording device sometimes worn by police to tape illegal activities. Willwerth said the dog bit him in the pants and its owner repeatedly punched him in the head as he tried to escape in his van. Bardot, in her 1960s heyday the epitome of French feminine beauty, told Thursday's hearing that France was going through a period of decadence and said she opposed inter-racial marriage. Imagine if laws were passed prohibiting experience of pain. Children who woke up and screamed when the family dog bit their hands would be guilty of a crime, and their parents might be held accountable for their child’s delinquent behavior.   Professor Charged Over FAKE Hate-Crime Report
Kerri DunnA psychology professor who claimed someone vandalized her car with racist and anti-Semitic slurs on the campus of Claremont McKenna College was charged with faking the incident.
Kerri Dunn faces a sentence ranging from probation to six years in prison if convicted. Dunn, who is white, told police her car was spray-painted with racist, anti-Semitic and sexist epithets while she was on campus preparing a lecture for a forum on racism but witnesses report she did the 'spraying'.

  Yet another FAKE 'hate crime": Glander admits writing racist note on pickup
Thomas Charles Glander, 39, pleaded guilty in Ramsey County District Court to a count of making terroristic threats, a felony, in connection with the May 5, 2003, incident. It was one of a string of eight incidents of racist graffiti that had alarmed students and faculty members. Glander denies involvement in any of the other incidents.
Glander, who is white, initially reported the incident to the Ramsey County sheriff's office, where he had worked part time as a volunteer chaplain, but later told investigators he had vandalized his own truck, according to the criminal complaint filed against him.   Dallas Texas: 'Whites Only' signs win reprieve
John Wiley PriceDALLAS - Fading "Whites Only" signs on water fountains at the county records building will be uncovered and marked with plaques explaining their historical significance, Dallas County commissioners decided. Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price, the only African-American on the Commissioners Court, led the push to uncover the signs, saying they represent a part of history that should not be forgotten. "Our only real option is to preserve it and review it and use it as a barometer and a landmark for the future," Price said.

Price says that the signs represent history that should not be forgotten. Of course, he and other elected officials who attend that church don't want people to remember what happened there. We won't see a sign in front of a church saying "We were hate crime victims!"
