Black Man In Court After Allegedly Shooting White Ex-Girlfriend 9 Times - December 11, 2013 PITTSBURGH – Arthur Leroy Whitfield III wasn’t talking when he was escorted out of a district magistrate’s office. But earlier this month, he’s accused of talking a lot, telling his ex-girlfriend, “This is the last time you’re going to (expletive) me up.” Witnesses, including his own daughter, say he then fired nine shots into Holly Embry, who remains in critical condition. Whitfield’s daughter testified about how she had to watch as he fired. “The 15-year-old daughter fled that bedroom,” said State Police Tpr. Steve Limani, “and went to an adjacent room in the house, calling out for some of the people that were there – particularly the 21-year-old that was the daughter of Mr. Whitfield.” But Whitfield may be in even more trouble now. His daughter testified that he’s been calling her repeatedly from the county prison and says a family member delivered a message from her father instructing her not to testify. Whitfield could now face the additional charge of intimidating a witness. - (Black-on-white) |

New sentencing hearing for cowardly black York thug who murdered White law student Convicted teen killer Jordan Wallick has won a new sentencing hearing, meaning he could possibly avoid spending the rest of his life in prison. On Wednesday, the state Superior Court agreed with defense attorney Dawn Cutaia's argument that an automatic life sentence without parole for Wallick was unconstitutional because he was 15 at the time he murdered law student James Wallmuth III. Cutaia also argued Wallick deserved a new trial on several legal grounds, but the Superior Court disagreed. "I am thrilled that my client is going to get a new sentencing hearing," she told The York Dispatch. "We will be putting on extensive testimony to illustrate why Jordan should not be sentenced to life." The murder: Wallmuth was sitting on a park bench near the corner of Grant Street and West Clarke Avenue in York City on July 28, 2010, talking to his girlfriend on his cellphone, York City Police said. He was approached by Wallick, who tried to rob him. But when Wallmuth resisted the robbery, Wallick fatally shot him in the back, according to police. Co-defendant Kenneth Santiago-Curet, 22, testified at Wallick's trial, admitting he gave the teen the loaded gun and waited nearby for Wallick to commit the stickup. He eventually pleaded guilty to robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery and was sentenced to 15 to 30 years in prison. - (Black-on-white) |

Arnell Yearwood pleads guilty in Union cold case killing of Diane Zaleski UNION TOWNSHIP - A man who admitted stabbing and strangling a Union Township woman in 2010 pleaded guilty to first-degree murder Tuesday. Arnell Yearwood, 28, of Irvington, will spend 30 years in state prison with no chance of parole after agreeing to a plea deal that included admitting to killing 54-year-old Diane Zaleski. Yearwood admitted to stabbing Diane Zaleski with construction scissors and then strangling her. The victim died from multiple injuries to the head and neck. On the one-year anniversary of Zaleski's death, police released additional details about the slaying, hoping to revive a case with few leads. A Massachusetts woman who had befriended Yearwood on Facebook contacted authorities after she read an article about the case because Yearwood had mentioned some details of the murder during an online conversation. Detectives had believed that Zaleski knew her killer because friends said she never liked to open her door for anyone she didn't know. They discovered Yearwood had lived in the house right across the street at the time of the murder. - (Black-on-white) |

Supreme Court looks at case of Freddie Lee Hall, Florida death row inmate with low IQ A Floridian with an IQ as high as 75 may be diagnosed as mentally disabled and be eligible for help getting a job. But on death row, the state says having an IQ higher than 70 categorically means an inmate is not mentally disabled and may be executed. The Supreme Court barred states from executing mentally disabled inmates in 2002, but until now has left the determination of who is mentally disabled to the states. In arguments Monday, 68-year-old Florida inmate Freddie Lee Hall is challenging the state's use of a rigid IQ cutoff to determine mental disability. He was sentenced to death for murdering Karol Hurst, a 21-year-old pregnant woman who was abducted leaving a Florida grocery store in 1978. Hall also has been convicted of killing a sheriff's deputy and has been imprisoned for the past 35 years. He earlier served a prison term for assault with intent to commit rape and was out on parole when he killed Hurst. Hall's guilt is not at issue. - (Black-on-white) |

Black man punches (White) people in face, runs to getaway car AMES, Iowa —Ames police are investigating multiple reports of a man randomly punching people in the face. Two assaults were reported on the same day, Feb. 16. The people reported to police that a man punched them in the face in two separate incidents. Tony Behnke relives the moments before he was attacked in the early hours of Feb. 16. It was sometime after 3:30 a.m. in the 200 block of Stanton Avenue in Ames. "About halfway down the block a guy got out of a car and started following me down the street," said Behnke. "He followed me pretty closely. It always sounded like he was increasing pace. It kept scaring me." The Iowa State sophomore slowed down and tried to let the man pass him. "I heard him just right behind me and I heard a couple steps and then I felt the hit to my side and I was on the ground," said Behnke. Before he could get up, the man had run away. "After he hit me, him and his buddies just started laughing -- got in the car. He didn't steal anything, nothing like that, but it just seemed like a joke to them," said Behnke. What Behnke didn't realize was minutes before another man was also assaulted at the intersection of Hayward Avenue and Knapp Street. That man suffered a broken jaw. Behnke said he suffered a concussion. Sean White said another attack happened to his friend just this past Saturday night, but the friend was lucky. "He got out of the car and just run up and and he kind of punched, but he slipped on the ice as he punched him," said White. Behnke said he is confident his attack was part of what is called the "knockout game," which are crimes reported across the USA where suspects attempt to knock out or sucker punch a victim. Ames police can't confirm that the incidents are related to a knockout game, but they can say they're similar. "It's still very scary. I can't walk home at night without thinking about it," said Hehnke. Police said the man involved was a black male about 6 feet tall with dreadlocks that might have had yellow or highlighted tips. - (Black-on-white) |

A former actress claims she didn't know her husband murdered the 27-year-old mother of his two young children until he pushed her to help hide the body parts more than a week later. Amanda Hayes, 41, took the stand in her defense, saying she only agreed to help hide the chopped up body parts of Laura Jean Ackerson when her husband Grant threatened to kill her as well. But prosecutors said Hayes never tried to expose her husband's heinous act, and even seemed happy in pictures taken after they disposed of the body . More than that, they say the couple planned the murder after a troubled custody battle over Grant's two young sons with Ackerson. Hayes is facing charges of first-degree murder and accessory after the fact for the July 2011 death. Her husband Grant was convicted last year of murder and is currently serving a life sentence. - (Black-on-white) | ||

Baton Rouge police arrest two teens in beating death Baton Rouge police arrested two teens Tuesday accused in the fatal Feb. 1 attack of a 55-year-old Indiana native, a crime that might have been committed simply because the teens wanted to see who hit harder. John Bannon, 1654 Clear Lake Lane, Baton Rouge, died Friday of injuries sustained when he fell onto the concrete sidewalk during the attack, fractured his skull and suffered a brain hemorrhage, according to the arrest warrant for Windall Lavel Herring. Bannon’s death leaves his family wondering why a man they described as a compassionate and caring individual was targeted. “You just want to know why, why him,” said Susan Smith, Bannon’s sister, who resides in Nashville, Tenn. on Wednesday afternoon, choking back tears. “Why him, of all people, (who) didn’t bother anybody.” Police think the two teens, Herring, 19, and a 15-year-old whose name was not released, attacked Bannon in an attempted robbery, to see who could hit harder or possibly for another reason, police spokesman Cpl. L’Jean McKneely said. - (Black-on-white) |

Brothers Were Shot And Killed Before Their House Was Set On Fire (Corinth, MS) A man is being held in the deaths of two brothers found inside their burned home in Corinth, Miss. Investigators say the two brothers, 66-year old James Copeland and 64-year old Jerry Copeland, had each been shot in the head before their house was set on fire. The fire was reported the morning of February 13th. Corinth police say the murders and arson were allegedly an act of revenge by 28-year-old Sirdon Greer. The tragic deaths of the Copelands was hard enough to handle, but details on why they died has left neighbors in shock. In 2011, Vietnam veteran James Copeland shared with reporters his joy of being reunited with a daughter he fathered while serving in the war. “I’m glad that I was able to find her and we got the future to look forward to,” James Copeland said in 2011. But two-and-a-half-years later, the 66-year old man’s hopes have come to a tragic end. Thursday morning, he and his younger brother Jerry were found dead in the ashes of their Corinth home... Police say the fire was no accident. They took 28-year-old Sirdon Greer into custody and plan to charge him with two counts of murder and arson. Police allege Greer wanted revenge for a domestic situation involving Greer’s wife and Jerry Copeland’s son. Police said the two men were each shot in the head and died before the fire was set. - (Black-on-white) |

Another damned bleeding heart liberal governor preventing the just execution of a black mass killer of Whites Victims' families furious after governor stays execution of notorious black Chuck E Cheese killer because he now doubts the death penalty. Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper has indefinitely delayed the execution of convicted killer Nathan Dunlap, saying that he had doubts about the death penalty, much to the dismay of victims' families and a furious district attorney. Hickenlooper, a Democrat, said he had doubts about the fairness of Colorado's death penalty system and about the state's ability to get the lethal drugs required for an execution. Dunlap, 38, is one of three men on the state's death row. He was sentenced to death in 1996, but the victims' families say they have been waiting for justice to be carried out for nearly 20 years. Republicans have derided Hickenlooper's decision as no decision at all, with Attorney General John Suthers saying the reprieve guaranteed 'continued suffering and delayed justice' for families of Dunlap's victims. 'He took a coward's way out,' said Melinda Cromar, whose 19-year-old sister Sylvia Crowell was among those killed by Dunlap. 'I am just so angry.' A ‘very disappointed’ Bob Crowell, whose 19-year-old daughter Sylvia was killed by Dunlap, said he didn't think there would ever be total closure in the case, but believed the execution could have demonstrated to other criminals that 'they will pay the price with their lives if they perform an act like that in the state of Colorado.' Dunlap's victims included Sylvia Crowell, 19, and Colleen O'Connor, 17; Margaret Kohlberg, a 50-year-old mother, who was on her first day on the job when she was shot by Dunlap, as was Ben Grant, 17. - (Black-on-white) |

"It was just horror," said Ryan's father, Tom Hacke. Tom Hacke was driving the car, with Ryan and his 3-year-old brother, Matthew, as passengers. They were stopped at a red light behind his wife, Mary Beth, in Homestead when Vaughn Mathis started shooting. "There was just this 'pop' in the windshield of the car and the bullet actually grazed me, and I looked up and I saw the perpetrator standing on the corner with two hands on the gun, and he was just squeezing the trigger," said Tom Hacke. "I just remember flames shooting out and my immediate reaction was to scream to my children 'duck.'" Tom Hacke said when the gunfire stopped, he realized Ryan was hit in the eye. Ryan died two days later. Vaughn Mathis was convicted of killing the boy, but 17 years later, he's up for parole. - (Black-on-white) |
