Arrested For Injuring (at least one White) Oakland Police
Officers With Explosive Device   OAKLAND
(CBS SF) — A 13-year-old and 23-year-old man have been arrested for
igniting ‘an improvised explosive device’ that injured 10 Oakland
police officers during a demonstration in July, authorities
announced Thursday.The attack took place on July 23rd, during a gathering at the MacArthur BART Station to protest the stabbing death of 18-year-old Nia Wilson. Authorities said at least two M80- or M1000-type devices were thrown at officers, injuring them. Eventually, investigators were able to identify a person of interest and he was located. Detectives prepared a search warrant for the subject’s residence and a Ramey warrant was signed for his arrest. The 13-year-old was taken custody and evidence linking him to the crime was recovered during the search. “He made a full confession, apologized for injuring the officers and cooperated with the investigation,” Oakland police said in a news release. “He provided a formal apology to the Oakland Police Department and plead guilty for felony criminal conspiracy.” Several search warrants were prepared and authorized for social media profiles, emails accounts, cell phone data and location information on a second suspect — identified as 23-year-old Giovonni Gaines. - (Black-on-white) |

N.C. (WTVD) -- The Harnett County Sheriff's Office is investigating
after a woman was fatally shot during a domestic dispute Thursday
night. Deputies said the shooting happened after 10 p.m. outside of
a home on Sanatra Drive in Cameron. Officials said a dispute
happened between 29-year-old Dena

boyfriend, 30-year-old Gregory Cole. Deputies said Luedka
did have a gunshot wound but said an autopsy would determine her
official cause of death. Cole was arrested and charged with murder.

trial this week in Caddo District Court.Robert Ladell, 29, was convicted of the aggravated rape of one child between Feb. 24, 2009 and Feb. 23, 2013, attacks that began when the victim was 9 years old. He also was convicted of simple rape of a second girl between Dec. 2013 and March 2015, attacks that began when the victim was 10 years old. Police began investigating after one child victim cried out to her parents. While the first case was pending, police received an additional complaint regarding the second child and Ladell. During a police interview, Ladell admitted to inappropriate conduct with one of the victims. The trial began Monday, and ended Wednesday after the four man-eight woman jury ended 2-1/2 hours of deliberations. |

Orleans police arrested a 35-year-old man Wednesday (Nov. 7) who is
accused of raping a 10-year-old
girl the previous day in Gentilly’s Filmore
neighborhood. James Mealey was booked on charges of
second-degree rape and molestation of a juvenile. According to the
warrant sworn by NOPD Detective Marcia Willis-Watson, the
10-year-old girl reported the rape to a school employee. She told
the school employee she was at Mealey’s home when the alleged crime
occurred.The girl’s mother was notified, police said, and she brought her daughter to a child advocacy center where a forensic interview was conducted. During that interview the girl said Mealey instructed her to remove her clothes, removed his own and then had intercourse and oral sex with her. |

Battle Creek man who told police he raped the wrong woman asked a
judge Thursday for mercy. "As a man and a father I have to accept
responsibility for my actions," Armand Hudson told Calhoun
County Circuit Court Judge Sarah Lincoln. On Sept. 17 Hudson,
41, pleaded no contest to a charge of second-degree criminal sexual
conduct in the June 18, 2016 rape of a
38-year-old woman. The plea was part of an agreement
with prosecutors who dropped a first-degree criminal sexual conduct
charge which carried a maximum sentence of up to life in prison. He
was sentenced Thursday afternoon to five to 15 years in prison and
ordered to register as a sex offender. |

Texas (KTRK) -- Hafeez Qureshi
was a father of five, a grandfather and loved by
his community. "He looked out for everybody that came into the
store, in the community, very caring," said friend Erica Brown.
Sadly, police say he was killed on Saturday by (worthless
African American negro) robbers.Investigators say Qureshi was working at Sunny's Food Store in the 9000 block of South Dairy Ashford when the suspects entered the store and demanded money. robberies at Yorktown Mall in Lombard on Tuesday. The DuPage County

Shaheer Muhammad, 19; Dewayne Powell, 22; and Lezzerick Webster,
24; each with two felony counts of robbery. Police said
the men bumped into a man talking outside the mall on his phone and
grabbed his device. They also allegedly grabbed a
78-year-old woman’s purse as she walked outside the

sentences for a man convicted of violently assaulting and raping
three women in the early 1980s when he was a
juvenile.Arthur O’Derrell Franklin has served more than 30 years for raping three women in 1983 when he was 17. Franklin’s hearing evoked “Graham v. Florida,” a 2010 US Supreme Court case that mandated juveniles cannot be sentenced to life imprisonment without parole if they have committed nonhomicidal offenses. The ruling also said that such juveniles must be afforded “meaningful” opportunities to obtain release if they’ve demonstrated “maturity and rehabilitation” before the end of their sentence, the report said. |

sayBaton Rouge police believe a man on death row in Texas was the killer in a 1999 shooting death of an LSU student, linking him to the crime almost two decades later through DNA evidence. Investigators on Tuesday issued a warrant for Travis Green, 49, after his DNA was matched to a glove found at the scene of the 1999 shooting death of 19-year-old Kassie Federer. Green is currently on death row in Livingston, Texas, for another slaying, that of a 19-year-old woman killed in Houston days before Federer's death in Baton Rouge, said police spokesman Sgt. Don Coppola Jr. "It's been a long time coming," said Warren Federer, her father. "It's a big burden off of us. We know he's not going to be out there doing that to somebody else's daughter." Fulton County police Chief Darryl Halbert said Jerry Lee, 61, was arrested this week in the 1997 murder of Lorrie Ann Smith, 28. Smith was shot to death in her home in South Fulton County on May 25, 1997. Smith was shot in the back in her own bedroom at a home on Stonewall Tell Road. Police said there was no sign of forced entry, sexual assault or robbery. It was clear Smith fought for her life. Police found a "significant amount" of the suspect's blood at the scene, but without modern DNA testing were not able to make a match in the state database. That's where Ancestry.com came in to play. Investigators took DNA they collected from the crime scene and sent it to a DNA testing company called Parabon, which found a similar strand of DNA in their system from someone who was trying to uncover their family tree. trust of his victims so they would send him nude photos
before agreeing to meet him. When they found out he was not who he
pretended to be online, he would threaten to make their nude photos
public if they refused to have sex with him.Police Lt. Col. Nacharot Kaewpetch said the police discovered medicine for treating HIV when they arrested the 43-year-old suspect, Sgt. Maj. Jakkrit Khomsing, at his home Wednesday in the northeastern province of Khon Kaen. They said tests confirmed he was infected with HIV. So far police have determined that Jakkrit had more than 70 victims between the ages of 13 and 18. |

fatal shooting of a cabdriver during a robbery in the Central West
End was sentenced Thursday to prison. Shakur Ellis, 20, was
sentenced to 10 years in prison for second-degree murder,
first-degree robbery and armed criminal action by St. Louis Circuit
Judge David Dowd. The judge accepted a plea deal in August between
the state and defense in the Sept. 14, 2016, shooting death of cabdriver
Timothy Grice.A co-defendant, Jerry Reese, shot and killed Grice, 38, in his cab between 2 and 3 a.m. in the 4900 block of Laclede Avenue near Forest Park, according to court documents. His body was discovered in the taxi seven or eight hours later when someone reported to police that the vehicle had been parked there for a long time. Prosecutors said Ellis cooperated with homicide detectives and agreed to testify against Reese, who was sentenced by Dowd on Wednesday to 25 years in prison. Reese, 21, pleaded guilty to five felonies, including second-degree murder and first-degree robbery. Reese admitted pulling up behind Grice’s taxi, approaching the car and shooting the taxi driver in the neck before taking an iPhone and other items. In May, the judge gave Savion Smith, 24, a 15-year prison term after a jury found him guilty of receiving stolen property in a related crime. - (Black-on-white) |

carjacking of a 78-year-old man
on Tuesday. On Wednesday at 11:38 a.m. the gold color 2001 Ford
Taurus belonging to the 78-year-old victim was recovered in the area
of Peccole Strada and Bologna Drive after receiving a citizen tip.
Detectives later learned that two other similar crimes occurred. In
these two incidents, the victims
were also elderly. One of the carjackings was halted
when a citizen, who observed a suspect steal the keys from the
elderly victim, intervene and blocked the vehicle to prevent the
suspect from driving away. The suspect fled on foot from the
intended stolen vehicle. As a result of the extensive investigation,
four juveniles have been identified and taken into custody
for their involvement in the series of carjackings. Detectives are
looking for two additional suspects involved in these

week in uptown Charlotte was in custody Wednesday afternoon.

Thomas Jr. was accused of attacking the victim as she walked
alone on E. Morehead Street on November 1. The woman was targeted
after leaving an establishment in the early morning hours. “(She)
attempted to get a ride, but was unsuccessful, in the process of
walking she was followed by an unknown suspect,” said Sgt. Alli
Rooks. “(He) approached her and sexually assaulted her, as well as

(WABC) -- The NYPD is searching for a hammer-wielding robber who has
targeted victims in Manhattan. Police said the suspect has robbed at
least three people in Harlem after following them into their

hammer, stole their cash and then took off, police said.

Masked gunman killed by armed father in McDonald’s shooting
identified as Birmingham 24-year-old  The
masked gunman who died after opening fire inside a Birmingham
McDonald’s has now been identified. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the man has Antonio Demond Sanders. He was 24 and lived in Birmingham. He had only recently completed The Dannon Project, a program aimed at reducing recidivism. The shooting happened about 10:45 p.m. at the Lomb Avenue restaurant. Sanders was taken to Princeton Baptist Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 11:16 p.m. A father who was eating inside the restaurant with his two teen sons was injured by Sander’s gunfire as was his 17-year-old son. He returned fire and killed Sanders. Sgt. Bryan Shelton said the restaurant was closing for the night and the manager was unlocking the door to let out the father and his sons. As the door was opened, a masked man – now identified as Sanders - burst inside and opened fire. The exiting customer was able to return fire, striking Sanders. |

Police said the suspect continued to resist arrest and they shackled his ankles. The entire ordeal attracted a crowd. (FOX 26) - A Houston woman has been charged with murder in the death
of her 2-year-old daughter. Police say the girl died after being
severely beaten by her mother.Shandricka Nakesha Mack, 27, is charged with murder and injury to a child. On September 5, Houston police were flagged down after the 2-year-old girl was found unresponsive. Police say officers also noticed external injuries on her 1-year-old sister while they were waiting for paramedics. |

from punches were audible through the walls of an apartment,
prompting a concerned citizen to call police. This time, on Sept.
19, was about the 10th occasion the person reporting had heard a
domestic-disturbance-related commotion coming from the apartment and
decided to finally speak up. So, Metro Police showed up to
investigate the claims, but a woman and a man there denied any abuse
had taken place, and the officers left.A month later, a 1-year-old boy was dead, fatally injured in the same location officers had responded to at the Pinewood Crossing Apartments, 764 Twain Ave., near Swenson Street, according to an arrest report. Robert Aaron Smith, who was tasked with caring for the boy, called 911 about 9:20 a.m. Oct. 9 to report a child in distress, police said. Injuries throughout the boy’s little body included rib fractures and internal bleeding from a broken liver and spine hemorrhaging, police said. He died at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center. Brianna Brown, 24, the boy’s mother, who wasn’t present when first responders arrived, and Smith, 29, are accused of child abuse, police said. Smith is facing an additional count of murder. |

- The mother of two boys, ages 2 and 4, who abandoned them at a
Boost Mobile store in Houston was found safe on Friday, Houston
police said. Police are not saying where she was found.

store and the woman came in," store manager Muhammad Naeen said. "And
she said, 'You want the kids?' I said, 'No.'" The woman,
now known as Ashley, told Naeen she and her sons had been
kicked out of their apartment recently and had moved in with a
neighbor, but then that neighbor kicked them out, too, Naeen
said."She was praying to God and she was crying," Naeen said. "The
children were crying." Friends of Ashley showed KPRC her fully furnished three-bedroom apartment in northwest Houston and said she hasn't been kicked out. North Las Vegas suspects tied to the fatal shooting of an
11-year-old girl inside her home have been arrested,
police said during a Thursday press conference. The two suspects – a
16-year-old, and Jarquan Tiffith, 20 – were among five
men involved in the fatal shooting of Angelina
Erives, Las Vegas’ Fox 5 reported, citing police. The three
suspects emptied rounds into a house before running back to the car.
The 11-year-old girl was killed amid
the gunfire while she sat in the family kitchen. Police said last
week that the gunmen had opened fire on the wrong house. A
neighbor fatally shot one the 17-year-old suspects, police said. |

(WPVI) --\ Authorities say two suspects have been arrested in a
shooting that wounded a Philadelphia police officer. Commissioner
Richard Ross said 31-year-old
Officer Paul Sulock was shot in the leg shortly after
11 a.m. Wednesday. The gunfire erupted after he and another
uniformed officer apparently interrupted a confrontation between two
men in the Kensington neighborhood.Ross said the men were crouched behind cars across the street from each other, one armed and apparently about to shoot the other. "The quick action of these police officers probably save the life of one of these people involved, quite frankly. It was going to be a shooting, there is no question about that," said Ross. The armed man fired at the officers, hitting Sulock in his thigh. Ross said Sulock chased down one of the suspects despite his wound. The other suspect was also arrested. It wasn't long before law enforcement that descended on the shooting scene. They focused their attention on a house in the 3100 block of Custer Street. That's where four people were brought out and handcuffed. same person.This suspect is accused of killing one person. But he apparently shot at two others in a crime spree that started in August and spans from Baytown to the Heights. HPD released a composite sketch of the suspect from the shooting that happened on Cortlandt back on October 16. They say the suspect opened fire on a man walking his dog around 9:30 p.m. Baytown police believe the same car was used in a different shooting that happened in Baytown back on August 15. In that shooting, 84-year-old Sam Wingate was walking with a friend on Pinehurst Drive when a man in a light-colored car opened fire on him. Wingate was hit in the back and later died from his injuries. When he reached the source, he encountered Alarick Williams allegedly attacking a woman, who had some of her clothes ripped off, inside a car. The fight was occurring in front of the couple's three children, who were also in the vehicle. “I was completely in shock that he started beating on her and forcing her in the car,” Seadorf said. “As I get close to the vehicle, I noticed her top's ripped off. She has no shirt on, her bra is halfway off." Seaford approached the car with his gun pointed at Williams, and told him to get out of the vehicle and on to the ground. Kansas City Police soon arrived and arrested Williams. Seaford said that officers thanked him for stopping the attack. |

shotgun and slashing a La Grange police officer with a knife.Shazizz Mateen, 49, is charged with four counts of aggravated assault on a public servant with a deadly weapon. The shooting happened last week at the Carter Motel in La Grange, but it began when two officers attempted to serve a felony warrant on Mateen at a nearby Dollar General store for failing to register as a sex offender. Investigators said Mateen resisted, pulled a knife and cut one of the officers. He then ran to the nearby hotel room and barricaded himself inside. Fayette County Sheriff's Office(r) CJ Lehmann volunteered to take the lead in breaching the door because he was wearing a ballistic vest. In doing so, he was shot in the face with a shotgun. Deputy Lehmann lost his left eye, and doctors are still working to save his right eye, with surgery scheduled for later this week. shooting a 29-year-old woman multiple times at the Cherry Hill
Towers around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday. The woman was rushed to a nearby
hospital where she is being treated. There is no word on her
condition. Authorities say Walker may be driving a grey 2005 Dodge
Magnum, with the New Jersey license plate ZUA-48V. The vehicle
belongs to the victim. Walker is considered armed and

“Amy” McLaughlin. Parkesburg Borough Police were
called to the 400 block of Walnut Street on Oct. 31. Authorities say
Amy was dead for some time when they arrived. The Chester County
DA’s Office says an investigation revealed that Robinson became
angry with Amy and intentionally pushed her down the 8- to
9-foot-tall stairs to the basement of the home. Amy struck her head
on concrete when she hit the landing. The autopsy also
revealed that Amy had been severely beaten over a period of time
as she had extensive bruises, scars, puncture wounds, and strike

identified as 37-year-old Davance Lamar Reed, a transient

CLAIR SHORES, Mich. (WXYZ) - The suspect in a K-9 officer shooting
and the K-9 officer involved are dead following a shooting St. Clair
Shores. According to police, a 911 call around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday
drew police to Lakeland Manor Banquet Hall on Harper Avenue near 10
mile — the initial report indicated the suspect had a gun. Several
dozen people were inside the banquet hall celebrating a baby shower,
per sources.Police arrived and found a suspect matching the description they’d been given over the phone. He ignored several demands before trying to run away from police, which is when K-9 Axe confronted the suspect. The department declined to speak on camera, but offered an explanation and timeline of events which describes the moment Axe chased the suspect and was shot as follows: “…Axe was deployed and upon confronting the male, shots were fired from a handgun by the male, striking the K-9. St. Clair Shores Police Department officers returned fire, striking the male.” As a result of the shooting, both the shooting suspect and K-9 officer Axe were killed. The shooting suspect was identified by the Macomb County Sheriff's Office as Theoddeus Gray, 29, from Detroit. As for K-9 Officer Axe, he was rushed to an emergency veterinarian office where he died — a large crowd of police and K-9 handlers showed up at the vet’s office to show their support. After being pronounced dead he was removed from the hospital draped with an American flag and escorted away in a procession of police cars with flashing lights. |

Ohio — A registered sex offender accused of shooting a Cleveland
police officer with an assault rifle is being held in the county
jail on $1 million bond after his first court appearance on Monday.
Jonathan Chambers, 30, is charged with three counts of
attempted murder. He did not enter a plea at his Monday appearance
in Cleveland Municipal Court.Chambers shot 28-year-old Cleveland police officer Shane McNae, who has been a police officer for nearly five years. McNae underwent surgery on both legs on Saturday and is in stable condition at University Hospitals. Chambers about 4 a.m. Saturday shot a man in the neck as the man sat in a car on East 121st Street near Shaker Boulevard in the city’s Buckeye-Shaker neighborhood. McNea and his partner, patrol officer Christian Childs, arrived to investigate, according to police. Chambers opened fire on their marked police cruiser with an assault rifle. Bullets ripped through the cruiser and both of McNea’s legs, according to court records. Childs was not injured. |

ride on the roof of his 2010 Toyota Highlander, the Suffolk County

pal filmed the stunt on Snapchat. As Cheema drove, Mullen fell
off and hit his head on the roadway. He died in his sleep later that

Va. (ABC7) - Ronald Hamilton has been sentenced to life
without parole in the murders of his wife and Prince
William County Police officer Ashley Guindon.A jury was in the sentencing phase in the Hamilton murder trial. The jury was deciding if Hamilton would receive life in prison or the death penalty. Prosecutors and defense attorneys presented their final arguments to the jury on Tuesday. On Sept. 26, Hamilton was found guilty on all 17 counts. He was charged with capital murder and other counts in the deadly shooting of Guindon and his wife Crystal Hamilton. He was also charged with attempted capital murder of two police officers who were shot but survived, Jesse Hempen and David McKeown. A death penalty trial began for Hamilton, an Army staff sergeant, in Aug. 2018. He pleaded not guilty to the shootings, but Associated Press court records revealed he confessed to the crime after he was arrested. Guindon, who was working her first shift after being sworn in, was shot and killed on Feb. 27, 2016 while responding to a domestic-related shooting in the 15000 block of Lashmere Court. Guindon was a United States Marine. Guindon was a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla. Man arrested after woman found shot in backyard of St.
Petersburg home  ST.
PETERSBURG, Fla. — Police have arrested a man in connection to a
deadly shooting in St. Petersburg. St. Pete police arrested Marco
Nicholas Murray, 37, and charged him with second-degree murder
and felon in possession of a firearm for the shooting death of Christina
Veronica Rush. Rush was found shot in the backyard of a
St. Petersburg home early Thursday morning. Detectives say the
27-year-old woman was found just before 1:00 a.m. in the
1000 block of 15th Avenue S. Investigators believe the victim
knew her attacker but have not said if Murray knew Rush.

murder  CHARLOTTE,
NC (WBTV) - The boyfriend of a woman whose body was found inside a
Steele Creek home Sunday afternoon is facing murder charges in her
death. Stephanie Potts,
35, was found around 3:25 p.m. inside a home on Black Chestnut
Place, in a neighborhood off of Steele Creek Road. Monday, police
announced Potts' boyfriend, 31-year-old Deshawn Lamont Clipper,
was arrested in connection to Potts' killing. Clipper was arrested
Monday morning in Greensboro. Police say Clipper is charged with
first-degree murder. According to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s
Office, Clipper was arrested in September for assault on a
female. Officers responded to a “check the welfare” call for
service Sunday. When they arrived, officers found Potts inside the
residence. Police described her as a “victim of violence.” Officers
said this did not appear to be random violence, but did not say how

charged with robbery in connection to the attack that left a father
on disability with even more injuries, police announced on Friday.
"This morning I happily got the news that they made an arrest.
That’s good and they're making progress," 59-year-old Bradley
Johnson said. Uber driver Johnson was attempting to drive down the
2000 block of West Grace Street at about 2:17 a.m. when he
encountered a group of people playing loud music, dancing and
blocking the street.“[Johnson] was attempting to drive through an intersection when he was robbed and assaulted,” a Richmond Police spokesperson said. “[He] was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.” The video showed the men approach Johnson’s van, where they appeared to punch him. When he got out of the van, the assault continued. “I remember hitting the ground and hitting my head on the pavement. I remember getting up a couple more times with the same result of getting hit and knocked to the ground,” Johnson recalled. The attackers took Johnson’s phone. MONTGOMERY COUNTY — Two female pizza delivery drivers were
kidnapped, one of whom was raped, in two separate incidents and now
a Dayton man is facing multiple felonies for the alleged crimes.
D'ablo McConnell, 19, was indicted by a grand jury Monday on
four counts of kidnapping, two counts of rape and single counts of
attempted rape, assault and aggravated robbery. McConnell allegedly
kidnapped a victim at gunpoint in Dayton on Oct. 17. The teen
then was accused of forcing the victim to drive him in her car to
the area of Taywood Drive, where he allegedly raped her, |

19-year-old man, indicted on multiple rape, gross sexual imposition
and kidnapping charges, knew his victim. Zaren Wiesenborn sexually assaulted the victim on at least five occasions over the last few years, the victim told investigators. “(Wiesenborn) admitted he liked feeling the power of control over (the victim) and he would do these actions as a punishment toward her for aggravating him,” detectives said. Wiesenborn’s next court appearance will be an arraignment hearing April 10. He remains in the Montgomery County Jail with bond set at $200,000. A 19-year-old Dayton man was indicted on several charges after he was accused of kidnapping and raping a 17-year-old girl. |

Bossier City police believe rape cases by rutting mandingo may
be related  Police
in Dallas and Bossier City are investigating whether multiple sexual
assaults in both cities may be connected to the same person. Dallas
Police said their suspect is
a black male between 16 to 19 years old, stands
5-foot-8 tall and weighs 140 pounds. He was in the Bossier City
and Shreveport area in March and April, but police said he is
currently in Dallas. The suspect is also accused of assaulting three
women in Dallas over the past two months. According
to the Dallas News report, in each case, a man knocked on a
door and either asked the victim for money or said he was looking
for work. “The man then forced his way into each victim's home,
flashed a weapon and sexually assaulted them,” the report states. |
Winning
lottery ticket leads to arrest of alleged Palatine bank robber PALATINE,
Ill. (WLS) -- An alleged bank robber was caught because of his good
fortune. The holdup took place at the Chase Bank at 1131 E. Dundee
Road in Palatine last Friday morning. The FBI says that during the
heist, a winning lottery ticket fell from Dexter Riley's
pocket. Investigators found out it had been sold at a gas station a
day earlier, along with four other winning tickets. Last Tuesday,
one of those tickets was cashed at a gas station in Deer Park.
Police used surveillance video from that gas station to track down
the suspect. In addition to be charged in the bank robbery and Riley
was also charged with misdemeanor driving on a revoked license. |
