retired St. Louis WM police sergeant, 67     Boys,
15 and 16, charged in juvenile court with murder of retired St.
Louis police sergeant ST. LOUIS • Two teen suspects have been
charged in juvenile court with murder and robbery in the death of a
retired St. Louis police sergeant who was killed during a botched
robbery Monday. A 16-year-old, believed to be the gunman, was
charged with second-degree murder and attempted first-degree
robbery. Another boy, 15, faces the same charges plus tampering with
a motor vehicle and resisting arrest after he fled police in a
stolen SUV. A juvenile court judge will determine whether the
teens should be certified to stand trial as adults for the
crime. That decision could take weeks or months. The 16-year-old was
arrested Monday at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, where he was dropped off
with a gunshot wound to the wrist, sources said. Police say he was
injured in a shootout after he tried to rob retired St.
Louis police Sgt. Ralph E. Harper that morning on a
residential street near Tower Grove Park. The other suspect arrested
after the SUV crashed, Julian Mathews, 17, was not involved

Arlington school bus driver is facing charges after being accused of
having a sexual encounter with a student on his bus, police say.
Chima Lemael Kalu Nsi, 21, was arrested Tuesday on a
felony charge of improper relationship between an educator and
student. The incident was reported to have occurred on Sept. 27
while the driver was taking the student from one school to another
while the two were alone on the bus, police said. The student, a
17-year-old boy, reported what happened to a friend
and the friend notified police, said Lt. Chris Cook with the
Arlington Police Department. The arrest warrant outlined a
sexual conversation between Nsi and the student where they
discussed homosexuality and what the other liked. .

Rutgers University football player allegedly plotted to murder two
members of a friend’s family, prosecutors said Tuesday. Izaia
Bullock, 22, was dismissed from the Scarlet Knights after
being charged with two counts of attempted murder and conspiracy
Tuesday by Middlesex County prosecutors. The footballer on Monday
“initiated a plot to murder the family members of an acquaintance,”
prosecutors said. The intended victims aren’t affiliated with the
university and weren’t injured, officials said. Bullock is being

sideDETROIT
(WJBK) - Two people passing out fliers were shot, one fatally on
Detroit's east side Tuesday night. A male and female, both in their
20s, were passing out get out to vote fliers in the 6000 block of
Drexel at the time of the shooting at about 6:30 p.m. The man was
fatally wounded by the suspect, according to Detroit police. The
female is hospitalized in stable condition. Investigators said the
suspect was a black male about 5 feet, 6 to 8 inches.
Detroit police say the shooting was not random, that the victim
had a dispute with someone in the neighborhood. The
man was shot twice in the stomach and the
woman was wounded in her legs and buttocks. "It
was a black male with a gray hoodie," said Capt. Gary Sroka,
Detroit police. "About 5 feet, 6, 5 feet 8, ran up on them and
started firing." The suspect fled northbound.. |

was fought off by a resident, was arrested after a foot chase with
officers, police said. An investigation determined that the

The suspect is described as a black male, 20-35 years old, bald or with short hair, no facial hair, and wearing a t-shirt and sweatpants or sweatshorts. |

of fatally beating a man with a metal cane after an argument that

Jamila Moore, a San Francisco resident, was arrested in Stockton last Tuesday for allegedly killing 65-year-old Harvey Grosser in the first block of Sixth Street early on the morning of Sept. 6, police said. Officers had responded that morning and found Grosser suffering from a skull fracture. He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital but succumbed to his injuries there days later. |

Pa. (CBS) — The Bensalem Township Police Department has seized over
$1 million of heroin in two separate investigations in Bucks County.
Three Mexican nationals were arrested after investigators
from a joint team raided an establishment on Oct. 27. The members of
that team of Bensalem investigators and DEA Task Force seized two
kilos of raw heroin. The heroin was hidden in a speaker box,
according to officials. All three men were arraigned and sent to
Bucks County Prison. Emilio Ornelas-Jacobo, Daniel Guillen, and Julissa Gonzalez were arrested during that bust and were arraigned. On Oct 16th Julissa Gonzalez, was arrested with a kilo of raw heroin. |

LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- Police have taken two juveniles into custody in
connection to the shooting death of retired St.
Louis Police Sergeant Ralph Harper. According to authorities,
a 15-year-old male and a 16-year-old male were both taken
into custody and remanded to juvenile court Monday. Further, the
investigation revealed that 17-year-old Julian Mathews, also
taken into custody, was not involved with the incident. He was
however charged with tampering and resisting arrest. His bond is
$30,000 cash-only. Harper, 67, was shot around 7:30 a.m. Monday. He
was parking his car along the street when he was approached by a
gunman. Harper and the gunman exchanged fire before the gunman fled
in a black SUV. Harper was taken to Barnes Jewish Hospital and was
"unconscious and barely breathing" while being transported to the
hospital, according to police. During a press conference around 10
a.m., Police Chief John Hayden said Harper had died. “This is very
close to home because I knew the sergeant personally and we all are

Ga. - A suspected sexual predator accused of attacking women who
were jogging in a Walton County park is off the streets and in
police custody. The Monroe Police Department teamed up with the
Walton County District Attorney's Office after investigating three
different attacks over the last 48 hours. Good Samaritans put a stop
to one of the reported assaults at Felker Park in the city of Monroe
on Sunday evening, after hearing a woman screaming for help, police
said. “The victim was allegedly forced to the ground and
physically assaulted,” police said in a news release. “The attacker
was scared away by witnesses coming to the victim's aid after
hearing her screams for help.” The latest incident happened on
Monday morning and hours later, an off-duty investigator with the
District Attorney's Office spotted the suspect roaming around the
park. Investigators arrested Deonte Branch.

charges in a May attack on a young woman who was ordered to undress,

times before she was able to escape in downtown Birmingham and run
for help.A Jefferson County grand jury on Friday issued six indictments against 39-year-old Courtney Karrone Austin, according to court records made public Tuesday. He is charged in a May 23 assault that left a 23-year-old Jefferson County woman with a punctured lung and other knife wounds to the neck, leg, and hand. Austin, initially arrested by Birmingham police on May 24, is indicted on charges of first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy, first-degree robbery, and attempted murder. He also is indicted on third-degree robbery and third-degree escape after authorities say he stole a UAB employee’s vehicle while he was escaping from police custody at the hospital in June. |

attacking a driver who into his family member. Khory Spruill, 19, of Clinton, Maryland, was arrested and charged with assault and criminal mischief. Police say the ordeal began Saturday shortly before 8 p.m. when Spruill’s family member, a 42-year-old woman, was crossing the roadway on South College Avenue in Newark, Delaware. As she was walking, she was struck by a vehicle. Police say she was not in a marked crosswalk. After the crash, the driver, a 77-year-old man, exited the vehicle to check on the woman. Spruill allegedly attacked the driver and punched him in the head and face multiple times. He then struck and damaged the driver’s vehicle, police said. |

at a local high school in Matthews Monday morning, according to

as school began. The lockdown at the school was lifted around 9:15

Texas (KTRK) -- The Houston Zoo was forced to evacuate its
chimpanzee habitat Monday morning after one of the animals smashed
an interior panel of glass. Zookeepers rushed to get chimpanzees
into their indoor housing after the incident around 11 a.m. The zoo
says they will remain indoors until the glass can be replaced. The
walkway through the African Forest has been reopened after being
closed to zoo visitors during the incident. Monday's incident comes
on the heels of a situation nearly a year ago, when a gorilla
escaped her barrier and got into the hog exhibit. |

The Chinese government is engaged in campaign of secretly enrolling
the nation’s prize military scientists in Western universities to
gain expertise in such areas as “hypersonic missiles and navigation
technology,” according to a new report from a think tank tied to
Australia’s defense ministry.The report by the Australian Strategic Policy Institute claims the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has paid for “more than 2,500 military scientists and engineers to study abroad,” with many of them hiding their official ties to China’s defense community. A key focus of Beijing’s program, the institute suggests, is to place the scientists in universities located in the so-called “Five Eyes countries” — parlance referring to the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia and New Zealand. “Dozens of PLA scientists have obscured their military affiliations to travel to Five Eyes countries and the European Union, including at least 17 to Australia, where they work in areas such as hypersonic missiles and navigation technology,” states the report published this week. |

(WATE) - Two Knoxville men were arrested and charged with aggravated
kidnapping and rape October 23 after they allegedly forced a woman
into an apartment and raped her. David Barbee and Torrian
Watkins confronted the victim in the 4600 block of Joe Lewis
Road. Barbee and Torrian forced the victim into the apartment,
forcefully removed the victim's clothes and raped her. Both Barbee
and Torrian were arrested and charged with aggravated kidnapping and

man who authorities say shot and killed his mother and sister
following an argument at their Pennsylvania apartment has been

Altariq Carson was arraigned Monday, one day after the

retained a lawyer. Carson is charged in the deaths of 52-year-old

Over 60 in Long Beach  A
Lynwood man convicted in a string of burglaries and attacks on two
women across one week in 2017 in Long Beach was sentenced Monday to
423 years to life in state prison, officials said. A jury previously
found Melvin Earl Farmer Jr., 40, guilty of 13 felony counts
on July 20, including one count each of forcible rape, sexual
battery by restraint, dissuading a witness from reporting a crime,
assault to commit a felony during the commission of a first-degree
burglary, criminal threats, second-degree robbery and elder abuse.
He was also convicted on three counts each of first-degree
residential robbery and first-degree burglary with a person present.
Four women between the ages of 63 and 95 in a senior
housing complex reported being robbed that week.
Farmer was also convicted of beating a
90-year-old woman after she refused to
perform a sexual favor while he was burglarizing her home |

Authorities said Critz, 16, Bela Perdomo, 15, who are students at the Marine Academy of Science and Technology at FIU, were collecting samples Sept. 10 for a science project near the school when the man approached them. After talking to them for a few minutes, the man suddenly attacked the students with a tree branch, police said. "I was walking by the bay and it was completely random," Perdomo told reporters at a news conference late last month. "James and I were on our way walking back and out of nowhere, we were both attacked." (The boy was knocked, then) the man then demanded that she remove her clothes before he attacked her. "He said, 'Don't worry. Don't worry. I'm not going to kill you. Just take off your clothes and you'll be fine. I won't kill you. urging women to get out of a relationship if it's abusive and
controlling. Dawn McKinney was
rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center on Tuesday night
after her black boyfriend, a convicted felon, allegedly
slashed her neck and stabbed her in the stomach.Danny Cosby (any relationship to black serial rapist Bill Cosby?) is accused of attacking her near the intersection of 6th Street and Sylvan Street in east Nashville with witnesses around. According to his affidavit, he admitted that he snapped and stated that "if he could not have the victim, nobody could." "I felt it but I didn't feel pain. I could feel him slashing me but it didn't hurt for some reason because I guess I was in shock. The next thing I knew I was waking up at the hospital," McKinney recalled. McKinney said she had her bags packed because she was leaving the relationship. She first met Cosby at Room In The Inn six months ago. She described him as charming at first but he quickly became controlling. "The real him started coming out. There was control, he wanted to know why I was leaving the house, controlling my money, telling me what to wear, and these things are just warning signs and it's not going to get better," she said. McKinney wanted to leave as soon as she learned that Cosby was released from prison in March after he served a 20-year sentence for two counts of attempted first degree murder. According to the Tennessee Department of Correction, Cosby also served time for aggravated assault charges. "That's when I decided to leave and pack up, and that's the most dangerous time is right when you're leaving. I started packing my stuff and hiding it and keeping it in the closet and I was never alone so I had to leave right in front of him," she remembered. seven puppies. According to prosecutors, 25-year-old Quintay H.

emergency veterinary clinic in Kochville Township. He had brought
them there after giving them deworming medication intended for

ditch near the clinic, seven of

Norfolk man for killing a small dog.Officers say Craig Cadore, 23, has been charged with felony animal cruelty. “That is what we are here for, to be the voice for the animals,” said Virginia Beach Animal Control Supervisor Meghan Conti. Officers say they can’t understand why anybody would hurt a dog. “We ask ourselves all the time what could cause a person to do something of this nature, but sometimes there is just not an answer,” Conti added. Officers say Cadore was dogsitting a Yorkie at his girlfriend's Virginia Beach condo. She got home from work and the dog wasn’t breathing. They rushed the Yorkie to Blue Pearl Veterinarian in Chesapeake. “The vet attempted CPR, but could not revive the dog,” Conti said. Vets called Animal Control, because something just wasn’t adding up. robbery delayed by Texas Criminal Appeals Court     The
execution of a man who robbed a Fort Worth gas station in 2010 was
delayed Friday by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. Kwame
Rockwell, 42, was set to be executed Oct. 24 for the deaths of
a gas station clerk and delivery man in a Fort Worth robbery.
Rockwell and two other men robbed the store and fatally shot Daniel
Rojas and Jerry Burnett, according to court records. In 2012,
Rockwell was convicted for the murder of Rojas.On Friday, a majority of Texas Court of Criminal Appeals judges ordered Rockwell’s execution be delayed, the Texas Tribune reported. Family members took turns to visit him each week until he died. Hubbard "explained that he chose him because he was a white man," Assistant Monmouth County Prosecutor Keri-Leigh Schaefer said in a September court hearing. former youth football coach accused of rape after he failed to

Attorney’s Office says a bench warrant has been issued for
48-year-old Shannon Westmoreland, of West Chester. They say
he failed to appear for trial on rape and sex assault charges.
Westmoreland was a football coach at Bensalem Rambler’s Athletic
Association when he assaulted a
15-year-old in 2005, according to Bensalem police.
Investigators say Westmoreland also assaulted another child from
the age of 4 until she was 9 or 10 years old and a 6-year-old in
1999, and again when she was 18 in 2011. |

identity theft, theft of property more than $10,000 and forgery. It
all began three years ago, when the victim says Smith asked her to
be on a committee at the church, and told her he needed her Social
Security number, drivers license and a utility bill. A few months
later, the woman started getting bills in the mail for credit cards
she didn't open. She discovered three cards with a combined balance
of $51,000, according to court records. She confronted Smith, who
said he'd pay her back, but that apparently never happened. Smith's
wife, Jerri Smith, has also been arrested and faces the same
charges as her husband. |

shooting a homeless man in 2016, Oneida County District Attorney
Scott McNamara said. Raekwon Winston, 22, appeared in Oneida

motions filed by the defense and prosecution. He’s facing charges of
one count of second-degree murder and two counts of second-degree
criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the death of
60-year-old Lawrence “Larry” Edwards.

firefighter claims his dreams of being on an elite FDNY rescue
squad were crushed when his co-workers began suspecting he is
gay. Jason Johnson, 40, a former National Guardsman, says
in his Manhattan federal lawsuit filed Monday that he made it to
a Special Operations Command unit in 2016, only to be kicked off
the team several months later following a bizarre
crotch-grabbing incident while riding a firetruck, which
resulted in Johnson being branded as “gay.” During the ride —
and “while being watched by other firefighters” — firefighter Jason
Ribisi, who is now retired, “grabbed Johnson’s penis”
in an apparent effort to harass the newcomer, the lawsuit
alleges. Johnson responded by trying to kiss Ribisi in
an effort to make him feel “equally uncomfortable,” the suit
says, but the maneuver completely backfired.

Brooklyn firefighter faces charges he brutally attacked and
choked a top FDNY lawyer he was dating, The Post has
learned. Ernest McCoy, of Engine Co. 323, is accused of
assaulting Bridget Hamblin,
special counsel to Terryl Brown, the FDNY’s assistant
commissioner for legal affairs. A criminal complaint filed by
the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office says McCoy, 47, grabbed
Hamblin, 38, by the neck with both hands, applied pressure, and
pushed her toward the ledge of a roof. McCoy let go, put his
hands around her neck again, then pushed her down several steps
— one hand holding her neck and the other grabbing her “wig,”
the complaint states.
