(BLACK) Suspected serial throat slasher attacker arrested after 3 attacks in 4 days PETERSBURG, Va. — For the last 40 years, Butch Simmons has never been afraid to walk out of the doors of the Fraternal Order of Eagles building. Simmons was waiting for his ride Friday night when he was attacked by a stranger. Simmons said he asked the man if he could help him, but was punched immediately. “I said, 'What are you doing? What are you doing?' He walloped me again,” explained Simmons. Moments after the attack, Simmons made his way back to the door of the Eagles building, but the door was locked, and he could not get to his key card to open it. Scared for his life, Simmons pretended that there was a telecom on the door of the building and called to his friends who were still inside for help. “'Hey boys, come out here! I need some help,'” he yelled. The attacker then backed off immediately and was out of sight when Petersburg Police arrived. Lieutenant Greg Geist of the Petersburg Police Department said that in four days, they had three assault cases on their hands. While Simmons’ attack was the first, the attacker, who was later identified as 32-year-old Christopher Taylor, allegedly slashed the throat of Petersburg businessman Bill Sizemore on South Crater Road two days later. Then, on Monday morning, Taylor allegedly committed another assault that also involved a robbery. Police were able to identify Taylor by using security footage from a local Wawa and with the help of Simmons and Sizemore. Simmons is thankful that he was not seriously injured. “I’m just thankful every day for the life I have and just thankful to be here and see my grandchildren grow. I want him to pay for what he did,” Simmons said. Taylor has been charged in all three crimes. The charges include assault and battery, attempted murder, aggravated malicious wounding and robbery. He is being held at Riverside Regional Jail without bond. - (Black-on-white) |

Negro monkey caught on camera pooping, peeing on house HOUSTON - A Houston homeowner is hoping surveillance footage will help catch an intruder who defecated on her doorstep. The man was seen on camera cursing and muttering Saturday morning at a home on La Branch Street on the Midtown/Museum District border. The homeowner's daughter, who is still shaken by what she saw, did not want to be identified. "He's mumbling and saying all this stuff getting angry," she said. After getting notifications from the Ring doorbell app, the daughter decided to check the camera footage recorded on the device. "Then he puts his phone down picks up an old board and hits the camera," she said. But it wasn't until she went to the property the next day did she see what else he did -- something she'd missed on the recordings. "That's when I saw it and I smelled it," she said. "He had pooped and peed on our gate and near the gate." A closer look at the video showed exactly the moment it happened. "He just pulled his pants down and started peeing on the gate then he pulled them down even further and decided to poop right next to the gate," she said. "When you're a grown adult and you poop and pee on someone's property just because, there's something wrong with that." The house is not far from a homeless camp that neighbors believe is responsible for an increase in crime in the area. They plan to bring it up with the mayor at a meeting next week. - (Black-on-white) |

Bridges and Tunnels Officer Lawrence Ffrench, 42, was indicted on charges of intimidating a witness and leaving the scene of an incident — and faces up to four years in prison. Canete, 41, was crossing a Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, street toward the S53 bus stop on May 26, 2016, when Ffrench hit him with his MTA-issued SUV. Ffrench then pulled out a wad of cash — which Canete said he rejected. “He shoved his hand in his pocket and pulled out a fist full of money and said ‘I don’t have a lot of money. I only have this,’” Canete said. Ffrench then sped off and left the wounded man in a spot nowhere near his home or an emergency room. |

Arrow Morris, 39, of San Diego was identified by homicide investigators as the suspect who shot both Celani and his younger cousin as they left the Mad House Comedy Club near Horton Plaza on Saturday night, Lt. Mike Holden said. Morris was located in Serra Mesa and arrested last night at around 6:00 p.m. He is charged with the murder of Celani and the attempted murder of his cousin, as well as for robbery, dissuading a witness and a parole violation. Court documents confirm Morris is a member of the O'Farrell Park Bangsters -- a gang known to be allied with the Bloods Gang in Los Angeles. Morris also has a long history of drugs, assault, and domestic violence -- serving several stints in prison. Police today released additional information about what happened just prior to the shooting. Authorities claimed Morris had argued with a woman outside of the comedy club, forcefully took her purse and walked away. As he walked away, Morris allegedly encountered Celani and his cousin and, without provocation, shot them, Holden said. The second shooting suspect has been identified but not yet located by detectives. - (Black-on-white) |

(Black) Tennessee ex-con accused of killing kitten arrested after Facebook post goes viral MARSHALL COUNTY, Tenn. —– A domestic call in Marshall County led to an ex-con being arrested for aggravated animal cruelty. The suspect was charged after pictures of a dead kitten went viral on Facebook. Police say Kendric Porter has admitted to killing the 6-week-old feline, which belonged to a woman he was dating. The woman got the kitten from her best friend, Lynn Turner. “How could you hurt something that cute?” Turner said. Turner became emotional Tuesday as she told about the jarring phone call she got from her best friend Sunday morning, describing how Porter allegedly killed the kitten. “She says, ‘I need you to help me now.’ She says, ‘He just killed my cat. I have to get out of here,’” Turner said. According to an arrest report, Porter and his girlfriend got into an argument and deputies asked him to leave the home. That’s when Porter allegedly told police he kicked the kitten into the wall and it died. “He grabbed it by the neck and slammed it were her words,” explained Turner. “And I think of the force it took to do that much damage in one slam.” Turner’s friend posted the picture on Facebook. “This is about a kitten losing its life – a helpless kitten. That kitten couldn’t stand up and punch that man and make him stop,” she said. Porter has previously been jailed on drug charges. |

Hispanic Judge warned for trying to use position to free Hispanic murderer-son from prison A Manhattan Supreme Court judge who improperly used her position to try and free her convicted murderer-son from prison got off with a wrist slap. Justice Leticia M. Ramirez was publicly reprimanded by a state ethics panel for writing to an appeals panel on behalf of her son Michael Tineo in his bid to overturn a 20 years-to-life sentence for fatally shooting a man in a heroin deal gone wrong on Long Island. Tineo had pleaded guilty to the charges for the 2004 North Babylon, but then regretted the decision. In a 2014 appeal his jurist mom submitted two statements on his behalf. One closed with, “[I] respectfully request that this court grant the relief sought herein.” She signed the document, “Hon. Leticia M. Ramirez, Acting Justice of the Family Court, Kings County.” Tineo was asking the panel to release him from prison, arguing that he was arrested without probable cause. The judge also used her title to help a childhood friend who was fighting a gambling charge. |

(Black) Suspect in (White) armored truck worker's death fled state, another (black) arrested picking up a paycheck, FBI says One man suspected of involvement in the deadly shooting of a Loomis armored-truck employee in Mid-City late last month fled the state afterward, and another was arrested when he tried to pick up a paycheck from the job for which he had abruptly stopped showing up, according to federal authorities. The information surfaced at a hearing in New Orleans federal court Friday during which a judge agreed to order that the man in custody, former college football player Deltoine Scott, be held without bail. Scott so far has been accused only of lying to investigators about his whereabouts on May 31, the day Loomis employee Jimmy McBride, 33, was fatally shot while servicing the automated teller machines outside Campus Federal Credit Union at South Galvez Street and Tulane Avenue. But a federal prosecutor on Friday made clear that Scott is strongly suspected of participating in McBride's killing. Authorities have not said whether the "other suspect" to whom FBI agent Christopher Bauer referred during his testimony Friday is Jerome Kieffer, whose name figured prominently in the written complaint against Scott. The FBI investigates robberies at banks and similar institutions. According to authorities, two armed men wearing hoods and masks tried to rob McBride and a co-worker in Campus Federal's drive-through ATM area about 4:30 p.m. The co-worker and the assailants exchanged gunfire, and McBride was killed. Kieffer is a known associate of Scott. Information suggests both were athletes at McDonogh 35 High School. - (Black-on-white) |
