Trial of black man accused of murdering a white man pushed back due to witness search The murder trial for the man accused of murdering a Willow Creek resident in early 2010 was rescheduled during a trial readiness hearing Wednesday at the Humboldt County Superior Courthouse after the prosecution indicated a potential time conflict with another upcoming murder trial and a need to secure witnesses. Limmie Greg Curry III, 24, stood handcuffed in the courtroom wearing an orange jail jumpsuit. Curry is accused of murdering 46-year-old William “Billie” Reid on Feb. 3, 2010, at a rural property off State Route 299 near Willow Creek, allegedly to rob him and take over his marijuana growing operation. The prosecution also alleged that Curry and a conspirator — Reid’s roommate Eddie Lee — burned Reid’s body before burying the charred skeletal remains at the site of an old marijuana grow on Reid’s property. Lee was acquitted of his charges after Feeney ruled in October 2014 that there wasn’t enough evidence for the case to go to the jury. As a result of that decision, the district attorney’s office is barred from appealing and charging Lee with the same charges in the future. - (Black-on-white) |

Johnny Wright was pronounced dead at 7:15 p.m. Thursday of apparent natural causes, according to a news release from the Missouri Department of Corrections. He first was admitted to prison April 14, 2011, to serve a 30-year sentence. Wright was convicted in January 2011 of the 1976 murder of 23-year-old Becky Doisy, whose body was never found. A former roommate testified at Wright’s trial that he had bragged about Doisy’s murder and had shown him the body. Wright evaded detection for decades, living under the assumed name Errol Edwards in Seattle, Georgia, and Beaumont, Texas. An arrest warrant was issued in 1985, but he was not arrested until 2010 after he walked into a Georgia police station and asked for a background check for a job using an ID card with his real name. Doisy’s sister, Kathy, testified in court that her sister’s disappearance could not be mentioned around her father, and he frequently had nightmares about her screaming for help. Kathy Doisy said her parents both died before Wright’s trial. - (Black-on-white) |

Black murderers YAWN and swagger in front of their victims tearful parents as they are sentenced to life without parole While the relatives of two murdered Detroit teens spoke movingly of their loss, their killers yawned and feigned total disinterest as they were sentenced to life without parole. A bored looking Frederick Young, 25 and Felando Hunter, 24, stood before Judge Dalton Robertson and the families of 18-year-old Jacob Kudla and 17-year-old Jourdan Bobbish as the packed courtroom descended into tears. 'I stand here today broken inside,' said Jourdan's mother, Carrie Bobbish. 'I have sorrow in my heart, soul and every fiber of my being today, and I will carry that with me for the rest of my life here on Earth.' Her witness statement was so emotional that tissues were passed around the courtroom. Young and Hunter were convicted of the 2012 murders of Kudla and Bobbish in December and police say they robbed the teenagers before shooting them dead, execution style. Five days after the murders their bodies were found in an empty lot on Detroit's east side. Their bodies were found in a trash-strewn field overgrown by weeds near Detroit's city airport, not far from the drug house where they were forced into a car's trunk. They'd been shot in the head. Before he was sentenced, Young gave a long, rambling statement. He began by apologzing to the families of Eric Garner and Michael Brown and ended with, 'Hands up. Don't shoot. Black lives matter.' In addition to his new sentences, Hunter is already serving two other life sentences, including one for the murder of a Vietnam War Veteran, John Villneff. Police have said that the two teens were trying to buy prenoscription drugs from the pair before they stripped them at gun point and put them in their car trunk. Witnesses to the killings said the two boys pleaded with the men to spare them before they were shot dead. - (Black-on-white) |

7 blacks arrested for two-week Detroit killing spree - White Vietnam War vet murdered - shot in back DETROIT - Seven men are arrested in connection with what police say is a two-week killing spree in Detroit. Police believe the spree started with the murder of two teenage boys from Westland. The bodies of 18-year-old Jake Kudla and 17-year-old Jourdan Bobbish were found in a field on Detroit's east side late July of 2012. They had been missing for about a week. The boys' families eventually learned they visited an uncle's house, then went to a gas station looking to buy drugs. Investigators say they met with a group of guys who drove them to a house, robbed them, drove them to a field on Lyford Street and shot them to death. "Yes, these are some god-awful people that need to be off the street," Melissa Villneff said. Police believe the suspects also killed her father, 62-year-old John Villneff. Police say on that day the group broke in and robbed a house, pistol whipped a 16-year-old boy and shot and killed John Villneff, a veteran and two-time Purple Heart recipient. But the alleged killing spree continues. Just hours later, in the early-morning hours of August 9, police believe some of the men are involved in a carjacking and used a woman to lure a 25-year-old man into an apartment building, robbing and killing him. The first suspect was arrested in connection with John Villneff's murder and the rest slowly started to trickle in after that as, police say, the men began to turn on each other. The suspects have been locked up for months, and some are already convicted for Villneff's murder. The men arrested in connection with the killing spree are Felando Hunter, Fredrick Young, brothers Reco and Aquire Simmons, Michael Evans, Michael Montgomery and Brandon Crawford. - (Black-on-white) |

Unarmed White Aurora teen robbed by two worthless criminal blacks on bus and shot for his cell phone tells story AURORA, Colo. - An Aurora man who was robbed on an RTD bus and shot over his cell phone, said he hopes someone will come forward with information. No one would blame Jordan Hough if he didn't feel up to telling his story with his jaw wired shut, but the 19-year-old said he refuses to live in fear while the guys who shot him walk. "I know that as long as I get through this, I'll be stronger than I was before," said Hough. "And I know if they're willing to do it once, they'll definitely do it again." Hough was taking the bus home from work at 10 p.m. Friday, texting on his phone near the back door. When the bus came to a stop at East 30th Avenue and Worchester Street, a man standing by the door grabbed Hough's cell phone out of his hands and ran. Hough immediately jumped off the bus to chase him. "(I did it) because it was a $700 phone that I had paid for in full in one payment," said Hough. "I need it for work and to be able afford rent and food and everything. It was important." The 6-foot-4 inch Hough said he didn't think about his own safety, until he noticed the second man running behind him and heard the gunshots. "I always carry a pocket knife on me. So yes, it was really bring a knife to a gun fight," he said with a small smile. The first bullet hit Hough in the back, nicking his kidney and lodging in his abdomen. "With that gunshot wound, it didn't go all the way through, so they had to do an incision on my stomach to get out the bullet," he said. The second bullet went straight through his jaw. Four days in the hospital and two surgeries later, he is now recovering at home -- relieved he wasn't killed over a cell phone. "I'll still take the bus," he said, "but yes, I think I'll be more aware of who's around me and what's going on." Aurora police are now releasing a more detailed denoscription of the two suspects: Two black males in their mid-to late-teens, both between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a medium build. One had short hair and was wearing a black windbreaker with a hood. Police said the other had a short afro-style haircut and a jungle camouflaged jacket. He was carrying a black and white camouflaged backpack with distinctive red basketball shoes. - (Black-on-white) |

Canada: Edmonton witnesses describe robber as a white man. But it was a black African migrant wearing a ridiculously real mask An Edmonton man admitted Monday that he committed a carjacking and two quick bank robberies in a disguise so realistic that witnesses described him as an unmasked white man, even though he was black. In January 2014, Solomon Zemichael Teklie carjacked a woman at Northgate Mall, robbed a bank at Londonderry Mall, robbed a second bank at 97th Street, then was pulled over and arrested by police. The three robberies and arrest all took place within 37 minutes. Through it all, the 39-year-old Teklie wore a disguise that fooled everyone. “It was so realistic that each witness on this file thought that Mr. Teklie was white. He is not white.” Defence lawyer Deborah Hatch said Teklie, originally from Ethiopia, came to Canada from Africa and was in a Kenyan refugee camp for years. Due to his lack of documents, he is stateless and may not be deported after he serves his sentence. He is currently a permanent resident of Canada. - (Canada) |

The 48-year-old fled New York for Africa four years ago while on $10,000 bail charged with two counts of raping a child. Detectives working with the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force tracked his travels, which included a stay in Holland, and he was taken into custody at Heathrow when he visited Britain in April last year. Westminster Magistrates' Court yesterday heard that he had since settled in Milton Keynes with his wife and young family – making Britain his 'safe haven'. Daniel Sternberg, acting on behalf of the American authorities, told the court: 'Bowen is undoubtedly a fugitive from justice from the legal powers of the United States. 'He was granted bail for a huge amount of $10,000 and subsequently left the country in 2010. 'He was given bail and released and his record is not good, he has not attended court and travelled in Liberia and the Netherlands.' But, in a judgment likely to spark outrage in America, magistrates ruled that Bowen's 'right to liberty and security' under the European Convention on Human Rights was at threat from his extradition. District judge Margaret Rose rejected claims that putting him on a plane would breach either his right to a fair trial or his freedom of expression. |

Black man convicted in (White) 3-year-old's death up for parole SPRINGFIELD TWP, OH - A Cincinnati man is up for parole after he was convicted for the kidnapping and the death of a 3-year-old boy more than 30 years ago. Jason Evers was last seen by the YMCA near his Springfield Township home in 1982. Adrian Williams has served 33 years in prison for this crime. Evers would have turned 36 on January 6th. All that remains are photographs, a lock of his hair, and three years of memories. "He was a sweet little boy, innocent, there was no reason for somebody to take his life," said Jason's father Bob Evers. In 1982, Adrian Williams kidnapped Jason Evers and for 43 agonizing days, the family searched for the toddler. The devastating truth came when Williams was arrested after leading authorities to where Evers was found buried in a shallow grave. "He went everywhere with me so it's really hard for me and it's not fair that he's gone," said Amy Evers. Williams, a teenager at the time, was convicted of kidnapping and involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to 14 to 50 years behind bars. Williams, who turns 50 in May, now prepares for his seventh parole hearing. Last week, the Evers launched another petition to keep Williams in the Chillicothe Correctional Institution for the remaining 17 years of his sentence. "My brother no longer has a voice so we're his voice and we want to keep his killer behind bars as long as possible," said Amy Evers. So far the petition has more than 10 thousand signatures and family members plan to deliver them to the Ohio Parole Board in March. - (Black-on-white) |

Brutal black killer of White man says he is the victim of race-based 'modern-day lynching' GRAND RAPIDS, MI – The man convicted of the brutal murder of John Dahlinger told the judge handing down a life sentence that he is the victim of “a modern-day lynching.” Danyell Thomas was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole Tuesday, Jan. 13, by Kent County Circuit Court Judge Paul Sullivan. And while no one was in court to speak on behalf of the victim, 37-year-old Thomas did tell the judge that he maintains his innocence and believed that the jury would exonerate him due to the lack of physical evidence tying Thomas to the crime including fingerprints and DNA. Thomas said that he believes he was convicted simply because he is a black man accused of killing a white man. Thomas that conspired with prostitute Dijana Kilic in feeding Dahlinger drugs in order to rob him on Oct. 16, 2013. Dahlinger had hired Kilic and brought her to the home and Thomas communicated via text message about a plan to knock the 56-year-old victim out and rob him, according to the prosecution. But the plan went awry and Thomas ended up beating Dahlinger severely and then shooting him with a .357 magnum handgun. . Dahlinger stumbled about his condominium before dying on his bed to be found hours later by his fiancé Melanie Yanchuk as she returned home. Yanchuk said she was unaware of the double life led by the man she lived with for 24 years. Dahlinger is alleged to be the illegitimate grandson of Henry Ford, according to a book by the victim’s father. |

Black man already serving time for separate murder takes Alford plea in 1976 Toledo cold case murder of a white woman 'acquaintance' TOLEDO, OH - A man already serving time for murder in an Ohio prison has entered an Alford plea to charges he killed a Toledo woman back in 1976. Martin Woods entered the plea Friday in the murder of Rebecca Gerst. Gerst was found dead in the 2200 block of Parkwood Avenue in central Toledo on February 4, 1976. Police say a witness heard a disturbance in Gerst's apartment that evening, then heard someone running down the stairs. The next morning Gerst was found dead with a laceration to her neck. Woods is already serving a term in the North Central Correctional Facility in Marion, Ohio for a murder which occurred in 1989. An Alford plea does not mean that Martin admits he committed the murder, but does admit that the evidence against him is likely enough for a conviction. Gerst's 81-year-old mother says she never thought she would see this day. - (Black-on-white) |
