Black African doctor wanted for raping a child in the U.S. will be allowed to stay in UK after judge rules extradition will breach his human rights A fugitive foreign doctor accused of child rape in the U.S. has been allowed to stay in Britain - in case the Americans lock him up for too long. Judges ruled it would be a breach of Tobias Bowen's human rights if they agreed to his extradition. The 48-year-old fled New York for Africa four years ago while on $10,000 bail charged with two counts of raping a child. Detectives working with the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force tracked his travels, which included a stay in Holland, and he was taken into custody at Heathrow when he visited Britain in April last year. Westminster Magistrates' Court yesterday heard that he had since settled in Milton Keynes with his wife and young family – making Britain his 'safe haven'. Daniel Sternberg, acting on behalf of the American authorities, told the court: 'Bowen is undoubtedly a fugitive from justice from the legal powers of the United States. 'He was granted bail for a huge amount of $10,000 and subsequently left the country in 2010. 'He was given bail and released and his record is not good, he has not attended court and travelled in Liberia and the Netherlands.' But, in a judgment likely to spark outrage in America, magistrates ruled that Bowen's 'right to liberty and security' under the European Convention on Human Rights was at threat from his extradition. District judge Margaret Rose rejected claims that putting him on a plane would breach either his right to a fair trial or his freedom of expression. |

Black man convicted in (White) 3-year-old's death up for parole SPRINGFIELD TWP, OH - A Cincinnati man is up for parole after he was convicted for the kidnapping and the death of a 3-year-old boy more than 30 years ago. Jason Evers was last seen by the YMCA near his Springfield Township home in 1982. Adrian Williams has served 33 years in prison for this crime. Evers would have turned 36 on January 6th. All that remains are photographs, a lock of his hair, and three years of memories. "He was a sweet little boy, innocent, there was no reason for somebody to take his life," said Jason's father Bob Evers. In 1982, Adrian Williams kidnapped Jason Evers and for 43 agonizing days, the family searched for the toddler. The devastating truth came when Williams was arrested after leading authorities to where Evers was found buried in a shallow grave. "He went everywhere with me so it's really hard for me and it's not fair that he's gone," said Amy Evers. Williams, a teenager at the time, was convicted of kidnapping and involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to 14 to 50 years behind bars. Williams, who turns 50 in May, now prepares for his seventh parole hearing. Last week, the Evers launched another petition to keep Williams in the Chillicothe Correctional Institution for the remaining 17 years of his sentence. "My brother no longer has a voice so we're his voice and we want to keep his killer behind bars as long as possible," said Amy Evers. So far the petition has more than 10 thousand signatures and family members plan to deliver them to the Ohio Parole Board in March. - (Black-on-white) |

The Tulsa police warrants squad had followed the accused shooter for nearly a week, and when prosecutors officially filed the charges Wednesday morning, they made their move. Even though he’s now in jail, Walker said they can’t rest. “The investigation is still ongoing. There is no doubt that more than one person played a part in developing the information, to getting the weapons,” Walker said. “They know who they are, and they know that we know who they are.” Walker said they can’t arrest anyone else just yet because they don’t have enough evidence to prove their involvement. - (Black-on-white) |

White boy, 16, beaten by two blacks at Carrick group home dies; Homicide charges expected CARRICK, Pa. — The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed late Tuesday that a boy brutally beaten at a group home in Carrick over the weekend has died. Nicholas Grant, 16, was taken to Mercy Hospital Saturday in critical condition after he was allegedly attacked by two teens at the Circle C Youth and Family Services home on Carrick Avenue. Grant’s best friend said the home should have been a safe place for Grant. She said that not long after Grant moved into the home, he started having trouble. “He told me there were guys messing with him,” she said. “I thought he was exaggerating and I hear about this and think he wasn't exaggerating at all.” Grant had left the home because of an argument he had with Yusuf Shepard, 15. On Saturday, Grant returned to the home, and after exchanging words with Shepard and Malik Crosby, 16, Grant was attacked. The pair allegedly "chocked" Grant and hit him with a vacuum cleaner. Grant was hurt so badly that paramedics had to revive him at the scene. Shepard and Crosby have been charged as adults with attempted homicide. Those charges will likely be changes to homicide charges following Grant’s death. - (Black-on-white) |

UK: White woman stabbed to death by black father of their biracial child A man on trial accused of murdering the mother of his child while high on cocaine allegedly told police their taser was not strong enough after being shot with a stun gun. Victoria Adams, 22, is said to have twice fled her home at Springwood Hall Road, Oldham, in fear of Andre Bright in the build-up to her death on the morning of December 8, 2013. Manchester Crown Court heard he admits stabbing her at her home, but says he 'acted unconsciously’ and did not intend to harm her. Prosecutor Mark Kellet alleges that Bright, 30, who had been an on-off relationship with Miss Adams since she was 16 and he was 23, was drunk and high on cocaine at the time of the killing, but ‘knew what he was doing’ and intended to kill or cause serious harm. - (Black-on-white) - (UK) |

Beaumont black gets life for murder of a White maintenance worker BEAUMONT, Texas — A Beaumont man has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty in the stabbing death of maintenance worker last year. A judge on Monday sentenced 39-year-old Samuel Thomas to life in prison in the April death of John Neff, also of Beaumont. Thomas pleaded guilty to murder last month. Police officers in April found Neff's body in the backyard of the home where Thomas was living. Prosecutors said Thomas stabbed Neff, his family's maintenance worker, to death with a knife. Thomas' attorney, Hayden Cribbs, argued Thomas was mentally incapable of showing remorse. Thomas has been diagnosed with chronic schizophrenia, but a court-appointed doctor determined Thomas was not insane during the slaying. He is eligible for parole after 30 years. - (Black-on-white) |
