(White female) Irish Tourist Tearfully Confronts (black) Man Who Attacked Her NEW YORK — A woman went through an emotional confrontation in court in the Bronx Friday, as she came face-to-face with the man who attacked her. Alisha Jordan broke down in tears after she bravely faced Kevin Bynum. “Within the span of one night, my entire life changed,” she said in a victim impact statement court. Jordan, 23, was visiting from Ireland in 2012 when Bynum hit her in the face with a slab of concrete, after a night out with friends. She returned to New York on Friday so she could tell Bynum in person just how horribly he hurt her. “I suffered extensive injuries, including a fractured skull which required 10 metal plates inserted into my head, broken cheek bones, broken orbital bones, a crushed nose and cracked teeth — and all for no reason at all,” she said. Jordan underwent several surgeries to reconstruct her face. The attack, random and unprovoked, left Jordan physically and emotionally scarred. “I sat and cried almost every night about how this attack disfigured my face, and the fear of you that I lived in was crippling,” she said. Jordan said she has since moved on with her life, but the horror of that night will live with her forever. - (Black-on-white) |

He was shot to death while working at Military Gun Supply, 2901 S. Cravens Road in far east Fort Worth. Peterson was 32. Police were still searching Monday for the person who shot him multiple times in the store. “What for? What does that person really gain?” a distraught William Peterson asked Monday. “Maybe a few bucks out of the till? Maybe a couple handguns or something? I don’t know. It doesn’t justify taking anybody’s life.” Homicide Sgt. Joe Loughman said Tuesday that nothing was taken from the store during the slaying and that investigators are still trying to determine the motive. |

Police said that officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car and called it in. The car was pulled over a short time later by 27-year-old Officer Andrew Groman -- a three-year veteran of the force -- and five other officers. Police said the driver followed instructions, but 19-year-old Donte Jones, who was in the back seat, wouldn't get out of the car and refused to show his hands. "One officer advised him that if he didn't comply he would be tased. At some point in time, there was the discharging of the firearm. "We do know, however, that the suspect who was the only one who fired a weapon." Three shots were fired, striking Groman once in the abdomen, just below his bulletproof vest, police said. They do not believe any officers fired their service weapons. Jones was chased a couple of blocks away and captured. Meanwhile, Batts said he hopes the shooting will get the same type of attention as the grand jury decisions in the Michael Brown and Eric Garner cases that have led to protests around the country. - (Black-on-white) |

Australia: Black African migrant Majak Daw, footballer, faces charges of raping a teenage girl FOOTBALLER Majak Daw raped a teenage girl in scrub land beside a creek during a house party in 2007, a court has heard. The chilling details have emerged in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court during Daw’s committal hearing over three rape charges. The 23-year old, who was just 16 at the time, has pleaded not guilty to the charges. A witness to the alleged rape said she caught the Sudanese-born footballer with his pants down in a missionary position on top of her terrified friend. The witness said she was drawn to the area along a darkened path after hearing her friend’s cries. “I’d say it was in between crying and screaming,’’ she said. The witness said she was about four metres away when Daw spotted her. “He had one hand on her chest, like restraining her,’’ she told the court. “I feel her legs were being restrained as well. She was squirming.’’ The terrified witness tossed a glass bottle at Daw before he stood up and “adjusted himself’’. “He stood up and she was just laying there crying … for a long time,’’ she said. “She was hysterical.’’ - (Black Sports) |
