Judge apologizes for only giving 5 years to black beast who raped and murdered a White 13-year-old Oakland girl OAKLAND, CA - A 66-year-old ex-felon was sentenced Friday to 5 years to life for his second-degree murder conviction for killing a 13-year-old girl at her family's home in East Oakland 40 years ago. Alameda County Superior Court Judge Larry Goodman apologized to family members of Julie McElhiney for the lenient sentence he imposed for Curtis Tucker for killing her on Aug. 9, 1974, but said his hands are tied by the sentencing laws that were in effect at the time. "I wish there was more that I could do but there's a reason they changed the law so crimes like this would get punished more severely," Goodman said. Tucker, who has prior convictions for sexual assault and burglary, pleaded no contest to second-degree murder on July 8, just before a trial was to begin on allegations that he sexually assaulted and murdered McElhiney. According to Oakland police, McElhiney, a sixth-grader at Sequoia Elementary School, was found at about 5:40 p.m. on Aug. 9, 1974, face down on the second floor of her family's apartment at 3022 Pleitner Ave. She was then transported to Highland Hospital in Oakland, where she was pronounced dead. An autopsy said her cause of death was blunt force trauma to her head. The coroner also documented that there was an injury to her vaginal area. The case remained unsolved until 2012, when Tucker's DNA was found on the clothing that McElhiney was wearing at the time of her death. - (Black-on-white) |

Police: Black stranger attacks man in front of his kids at ER MARIETTA, Ga. — Police say a man is in jail after beating up at least five people at Kennestone Hospital without being provoked. Cobb County police say those attacks happened in the emergency room. Shannon Hill says her son made a late-night trip to Kennestone's ER because his son, Kaiden, had a serious ear infection. While filling out paperwork, Jason Haynes was attacked from behind and knocked unconscious as his two kids watched. "This guy came out of nowhere. (My son) is just struggling right now to even realize exactly what happened and he's pretty messed up," said Hill. Witnesses say after knocking out Haynes, the 6-foot-tall, 220-pound attacker went after others in the emergency room, leaving at least four others hurt. Police arrested 31-year-old Chase Moses. He had no explanation for his ER rampage other than to tell a Marietta police officer that someone had made a comment. But police say hospital video shows Moses had no interaction with any of the victims before he started throwing punches. Hill’s son, Haynes, the first attacked, suffered the worst of it. "He's got to have surgery on his jaw. It’s broke in four places; he's got four teeth that are knocked out. He's got bleeding on the brain. How in the world was there nothing, no help for my son, when his children had to pull him across the floor to get him protected?” said Hill. - (Black-on-white) |

Black man accused of hitting, killing woman on sidewalk has long arrest record VANCOUVER, WA - A man who crashed his car into a wall after hitting and killing a woman on the sidewalk claimed he didn't know anyone had been hit and said his cousin was driving the car. Matthew Purifoy, 33, appeared in court on the charges of vehicular homicide and hit-and-run resulting in death. He was arrested after 57-year-old Anita Walters was hit and killed. Police initially received a report about an erratic driver on Interstate 5 northbound in Portland at 11:08 a.m. Monday. Witnesses reported a car traveling "side to side" on the freeway with a driver who appeared to be asleep and "drooling." The car then struck a white pickup and kept going. Court documents state the driver slammed into a street light pole, knocked it to the ground and kept going. Witnesses said it was traveling 60 mph and swerving back and forth across the road. The car then drove toward two people walking on the sidewalk, narrowly missing one and hitting the other. The driver kept going, slowing down only a little before speeding away without stopping. The victim was identified as Walters, who was serving on a county work release crew and wearing a yellow reflective vest at the time she was hit. White grandmother beaten after standing up to three black would-be carjackers INDIANAPOLIS - An Indianapolis grandmother is recovering from serious facial injures after she says she refused to give in to three young men who tried to steal her van Sunday night. Kay Kise, 67, says she had just arrived outside her home around 8 p.m. She had been doing some Christmas shopping and was just getting out of her van when three black males, about 16 years old, approached her. One of the teens asked her for directions. After she gave him directions, he pulled a gun on her. “And the next thing I know, he’s got a gun right in my face.” “And he’s telling me, ‘Give me the keys to that van.'” Her reaction was instinct. “I said, ‘You’re not getting my van’ and I slapped that gun to the side,” Kise said. The next moment, the teen suspect bashed Kise in the side of her head, knocking her dizzy. She had fallen back into her van with the sliding back door still open. The next thing she knew, she was sitting in the back seat. Her head was throbbing and starting to bleed and swell. But, she was still holding her keys. “I wasn’t about to let no young punk take my car,” Kise said. - (Black-on-white) |
