An Fort Lauderdale man fired a shotgun into a crowd early Saturday morning in Fort Lauderdale, slightly injuring five people, police said. About 12:20 a.m. Saturday, Kevin McCormick, 18, went to the 800 block of Northwest 13th Terrace, pointed a shotgun into a crowd and fired at least once, said Sgt. Andy Pallen, spokesman for the Fort Lauderdale Police Department. It was unclear who McCormick's intended target was, but Pallen said the shooting was likely related to an argument Friday between McCormick and others in Carter Park. Registered Sex Offender Arrested On Rape Charges DURHAM, N.C. -- A registered sex offender has been arrested and charged with sexual assaults involving two teenage girls. Santiago Bonee Elliott, 32, was first arrested on June 17 after officers stopped a car for a traffic violation. When officers approached the car, they found marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle and also noticed that Elliott's pants were undone and that there was a 13-year-old girl in the back seat. Elliott was charged with one count of taking indecent liberties with a child and one count of statutory rape in that case. Virginia Beach Man Sentenced for Abducting, Raping Exotic Dancer A man who abducted and raped an exotic dancer last year will spend the next ten years in prison. Wednesday a Virginia Beach judge sentenced Sean Omar Wilmont to 30 years behind bars, but suspended twenty. Police say the 23-year-old sailor abducted and raped an exotic dancer on Christmas Eve at a residence in the 5500 block of Magnolia Circle. Burned Alive! Hunt for man accused of burning ex-girlfriend "She's burnt so bad." Family members struggle to hold it together after Latonya Harris is attacked in her home. Police say gasoline is thrown on her face and upper body, then she's set on fire.Derks struggles to hold it together for Harris' kids. "He stood there and watched her burn." Kids, 6 in all, ages 1 to 14, watching their mom burn. Derks says some tried to stop it. "Everytime they would try to put her out, he would hit one of them." Man Arrested For Posing As Police Officer, Robbing Elderly Person N.C. -- Police arrested a man Friday for robbing an elderly person while posing as a police officer. Investigators said Javon Ellison approached an elderly man, pretended to be an officer with the Selma Police Department, and told the victim he was going to drive him to a town-sponsored event for the elderly. Instead, investigators said, Ellison drove the victim to a remote part of town and stole his money. - (Tyrone N. Butts)

Arrest Made in Stone Mountain Park Killing * Woolf was on probation for child cruely   Authorities have made an arrest in connection with the slaying last week of a Stone Mountain park attendant. A judge declined to set bond for Mark Anthony Woolf, 36, during an initial court appearance in connection with the killing of Anita Redmon. The 63-year-old woman was gunned down at 12:30 a.m. Saturday during an apparent robbery attempt, said John Bankhead, a spokesman for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Education: School teacher Darryl Swygert raped two 9-year-old girls who were family friends Authorities are asking for help finding a school teacher accused of molesting two young girls. Polk County investigators believe 50-year-old Darryl Swygert molested two 9-year-old girls who were family friends. Swygert had sexual intercourse with the two girls. There is a warrant for his arrest charging him with two counts of sexual battery on victims under 12 years of age.Deputies believe Swygert, who teaches at Dundee Ridge Middle School in Dundee, may be trying to leave the country. A travel agent said Swygert looked into information about traveling to Thailand or South Africa. The agent says he became suspicious and contacted the sheriff's office. - - (Tyrone N. Butts) |
Teen Rape Suspect Indicted by Grand Jury TOLEDO -- A Lucas County grand jury has indicted a man for kidnapping and raping a 16-year-old Sylvania Township girl. Jeremy Quinn is now facing six felony charges of rape, and one felony charge of kidnapping after police arrested him earlier in the week. Quinn is accused of taking a teen-age girl at knife-point from outside her house in the Deerpointe subdivision. Police and family continue to call the 16-year-old victim in this case a very brave kid. She testified before the grand jury and told them about what happened to her. Nashville Teen May Be Tried As An Adult 
Lavender Howse is accused of a shooting spree that took the life of a security guard on June 20th. Howse waived his right to a transfer hearing. His case now goes to the Grand Jury, and in court on Friday, the judge told the 15 year-old it is highly likely he will end up being tried as an adult in Criminal Court. Among other things, police say Howse stole a pair of shoes at a Shoe Carnival store and shot and killed the security guard who asked him about it. - (Tyrone N. Butts) - (crime) |
University of Georgia Footballer Faces Sanctions for Alleged Test Cheating A University of Georgia instructor says the 6-foot-1, 210-pound linebacker Tavares Kearney twisted her wrist after she confiscated his camera cell phone because she suspected him of using the device to cheat on a nutrition exam. A battery charge instructor Dawn Penn filed against Kearney was dropped Wednesday, but the freshman player could still face school discipline for the incident. S.C. Department of Corrections officer arrested for attempting to buy drugs to bring into prison Elroy White, Jr., 37, of Columbia, was arrested Thursday in the parking lot of the Toys-R-Us on Two Notch Road. White is employed at the Broad River Correctional Institution in Richland County. Warrants accuse White of trying to buy marijuana and crack cocaine from an undercover SLED officer with the purpose of furnishing the drugs to an inmate. Freed inmate charged in rape, kidnap of teen Just days after his release from a state prison, Jeremy Quinn, Jr., was charged with kidnapping a 16-year-old girl at knifepoint from the driveway of her home and raping her. Quinn, 22, was arraigned on one count of kidnapping and six counts of rape. The teenage girl had just gotten into her car outside her home about 4:15 p.m. to go to work when she was confronted by a man with a knife. The attacker forced the girl onto the floor of the passenger seat of the car, drove to an undisclosed secluded area nearby, and sexually assaulted the teenager. - (Tyrone N. Butts) |
Education: Ex-Teacher Pleads Guilty to Having Sex with Minor  A judge has sentenced 32-year-old Robert Sutton of Columbia to seven years in prison. The former Ridgeview High School teacher was arrested in July of 2004 after authorities say he had a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old female student from January to July of 2003. He was charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Nashville: Black gunman shoots White police officer   Thursday morning 33 year-old Metro Police Officer Daniel Alford was shot in north Nashville while trying to apprehend a suspect. Officer Alford was shot around 11:45 a.m. while working routine drug enforcement. The suspects fled and the officer gave chase. The suspects fled into a vacant apartment building. Police cleared the first floor then went to the second floor. In a bedroom of a second floor apartment the officers found one of the suspects, 21 year-old MarShawn L. Serial Rapist Suspect Caught - Those Who Knew Young Surprised by Rape Charges Chief Dan Flynn of the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department announced that Ron Young, 23, of Savannah has been arrested in connection with several rapes. "The charges in this case are the result of an extensive investigation spanning a series of brutal rapes throughout Chatham, Bryan, Beaufort, and Colleton Counties," Chief Flynn said. "Doctor Nose" Goes to Jail  Franklin Doctor, Sr., 53, also known as "The Nose" or the "Nose Doctor" was arrested Friday in Columbia after a tip to 911. Dootor was wanted for an assault on a Columbia woman. The Richland County Sheriff's Department and federal authorities were searching for Doctor. Negro charged with indecent exposure at public library Police charged a man after a County Public Library patron reported he exposed himself to her twice. Eddie James Richardson, 32, was charged with indecent exposure and placed into the Rowan County Detention Center under a $500 secured bond. The 27-year-old woman was in the lower level of the library when the man first exposed himself to her, police reports said. The woman told the library staff member, who reported the incident to police. The woman then went upstairs in the library, and the man again exposed himself to her. Sex offender not living at address he registered - was evicted Deputies discovered that a convicted sex offender is not living at the address he registered with the state after finding his home empty last month. A deputy checked at the address listed for Joseph Worley Alexander Jr., 50, of 626 W. Marsh St., and found that the home was vacant. The owner of the home said that Alexander had been evicted. Alexander was convicted in 1996 for taking indecent liberties with a minor. He is now wanted for failing to register. Butts)    Two brothers were charged Friday with murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the slaying of their father at his northeast Jackson home. Rufus Brooks Jr., 20, and Nicholas Brooks, 21, were arrested Friday along with three other Jackson men. Rufus Brooks Sr., a 43-year-old minister, was shot in the chest and stabbed multiple times on March 26. Roger Brooks, Rufus Brooks Sr.'s twin brother, said while he's relieved arrests were made in the case, it's upsetting that his nephews allegedly were involved. |
Black Tampa man convicted in knife attack on White woman * Life in prison - plunged a butcher knife into her gut  Brenda Hill is sure there were angels there that day. She didn't see them, but she heard them when she leaned on her car horn as Matthew A. Fowler plunged a butcher knife into her gut in a Tampa parking lot. A jury convicted Fowler, 40, of attempted murder nearly two years after he attacked the woman in front of a doughnut shop. "I was surprised," Hill said. "I actually thought, "Well, it's a homeless person. I should try to give him money."' But when Fowler flashed the 8-inch knife, Hill knew she was in serious trouble. Haitian migrant Arrested For Allegedly Sending Obscene E-Mail To WRAL The State Bureau of Investigation arrested Fern Georges, 33, at the public library and charged him with four counts of cyberstalking and three counts of ethnic intimidation for allegedly sending threatening e-mail messages to WRAL staff.

84-Year-Old Shoots Leasing Agent At Seniors Apartment JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- An employee of an Edgewood Avenue apartment complex for seniors was shot Thursday after an 84-year-old tenant became agitated and pulled a gun, police said. Willie Hargrove and a leasing agent were talking in the office of the Rosalind Villa Senior Apartments when the conversation escalated into an argument. "He was renewing his lease," a fellow employee, said. "He was sitting down. He pulled a gun out of some department store bag and he shot her -- shot her in the arm." 78-year-old woman accused of shooting her 85-year-old boyfriend at their senior citizens home after he lost interest in her ATLANTA -- A Fulton County judge set a $25,000 bond for a 78-year-old woman accused of shooting her 85-year-old boyfriend at their senior citizens home after he apparently lost interest in her. The Judge agreed to release Lena Driskell after a preliminary hearing. The woman was angry that her yearlong romance with Winslow was coming to an end. Winslow had found another girlfriend. So Driskell -- wearing a hairnet, stockings, bathrobe and slippers -- walked with a gun to the lobby of Hightower Manor, a public-assisted complex for seniors and the disabled. of Character month. Five or six years ago the newsmedia saturated us with negritude 24/7 during February. The American people aren't as dumb as they look; we can only take so much celebrating the inventions of the biscuit cutter, the door knob, the curtain rod, the door stop and the super soaker water gun. Many of these claims are seen for what they are and other negro claims of invention have been definitively debunked. It became buffoonish after a while and I believe that the newsmedia recognized that. As negroes grasp at straws to find any boost for their fragile self esteem, we simply look to modern Africa or our local newspapers to see the negro in it's natural state: murderous, self absorbed, vicious, incompetent, and always whining that white people don't like them. Well tell me this, what is there to like? Sure, there may exist certain individuals of color who are decent folk, but who has the time and energy to go through city busloads of negroes until you find one like that?
