Ward Connerly
RACIAL PRIVACY ACT--BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU ASK FOR
by H. Millard (c) 2002

Ward Connerly is a black, white, American Indian, whatever, mixed race, Californian. I've previously suggested that Tan Everyman is a good name for those of such mixed genes. Actually, despite the mix, Connerly looks black, but talks white, as is often the case when white genes mix with non-white ones.

My guess is that it is Connerly's black look/white talk nature that is the main reason that many aracial white conservatives seem to toady up to the guy. After all, that's what most aracial white conservatives are always looking for: someone with black skin but who sounds white in his world view. With such blacks sharing their views, these often cowardly and identitiless Ken Hamblinaracial whites can deflect the usual and expected charges of racism. Because these aracial whites seem to tremble at the very thought of being called racists, and because non-whites such as Connerly give them the intellectual equivalent of beer muscles, they can hide behind the good blacks, such as Connerly, while complaining about bad blacks.

Connerly heads up something called the American Civil Rights Institute and he's been in the press of late because his so called Racial Privacy Initiative (officially, Classification by Race, Ethnicity, Color or National Origin Act) has qualified to be on the California primary ballot in March of 2004. What the act will do, if passed, is keep California's state government from collecting race data on students or state employees.

The RPI is being pushed by Connerly as a way to end affirmative action in college admissions and in hiring. If the race of an applicant isn't known, goes the standard thinking, then a person will be admitted to college or will be hired based on his or her ability, and no one will be given special consideration because of race.

Some aracial white conservatives lick their chops at this. This is so, because they have long believed, and usually rightly so, that lesser qualified minorities have often been given college seats or jobs because of their race, while better qualified whites have been held back because of theirs. If race isn't considered, they publicly reason, then we'll have a color blind society where everyone will rise or fall on ability and not skin color. Privately, many probably believe this will mean that whites will be back on top. However, those who think this, need to take a deeper look at what may really happen.

Reinforcing the view that the RPI is good, at least in the minds of aracial white conservatives, is the fact that many liberals, and large black organizations such as the NAACP, have lined up against the bill. If they're against it, it must be good, figure the aracial white conservatives.

The reality of our times, however, isn't painted just in black and white, and this is where the deeper look comes in. Today, we're faced with millions and millions of browns. Therein, lies the problem. Browns are, of course, Latinos (or its synonym Hispanics) who are mostly Mexican Indians or mestizos from Mexico and points south.

What seems to be happening today, is that whites (and also blacks, as many blacks are now starting to realize) are increasingly the victims of racial/ethnic discrimination at the hands of Latinos and their white supporters and apologists. Even more disturbing is the fact that many of the Latinos who are discriminating against white citizens are illegal aliens, and they're also doing the discriminating through the use of federal tax money. The white supporters often have various Great White Mother and Great White Father neuroses, and appear to fantasize that they are on Earth to save their favored brown peoples and teach them to be brown skinned whites, just as their neurotic predecessors did with the American Indians.

Before going on, we need to remember, as pointed out briefly above, that in the U.S., today, "Latino" or "Hispanic" mostly means mestizo or brown people. Technically, the term Latino also encompasses Spaniards and other whites. But, Spaniards aren't the majority of Latinos in America. This is important to understand, because it is by using the term Latino (or Hispanic) as a substitute for "brown people," that government funded racial/ethnic discrimination against whites is often being allowed to secretly creep into our society.

The reason the anti-white discrimination is working, in part, is because those who want to give special favors to browns don't need to see the skin color of those they want to discriminate in favor of. All they have to do is select the people whose last names end in vowels or who otherwise have Latino names. This allows the discriminators the ability to eliminate most whites and blacks from various programs, while saying that race wasn't even considered. In other words they are able to bring in institutional anti-white racial discrimination.

This brings us back to the RPI. How can we spot institutional racial discrimination against whites today? The same way we used to spot such discrimination against blacks: we look at statistics. Without such statistics, we won't be able to tell or make a case that whites (or blacks, or anyone else) are being discriminated against.

In one California city that I've studied, a group recently advertised for "Latinas" for an after school program. A white citizen called the number listed and was told that it was a program that offered homework help and some other things for girls from the ages of 9-15--- but, only IF they were Latinas. Apparently, you could be of any race, so long as you were Latina (wink, wink). The citizen did some research and discovered that the program was funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services with our tax money. He then filed a complaint of racial discrimination against whites.

HHS investigated and recently told the organization that it must do certain things to ensure that it is in compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. You read that right. The Civil Rights act of 1964 which was used to stop discrimination against blacks can also be used, and should be, to stop discrimination against whites. Now, in this case, the discrimination was easy to spot and the proof of the discrimination was bolstered with statistics. These statistics would not have been available to the white, if the RPI were to spread to all government programs.

Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits racial discrimination in programs that receive public funding. President John F. Kennedy put it this way about such discrimination: "Simple justice requires that public funds, to which all taxpayers of all races [colors and national origins] contribute, not be spent in any fashion which encourages, entrenches, subsidizes or results in racial [color or national origin] discrimination.

Some apologists for the Latinas Wanted program tried to maintain that the reason it is for Latinas only, is because the neighborhood where the program is located is heavily Latino. The citizen who complained did some more research and discovered that the city, which is relatively small geographically, is approximately 31.8% Latino, and that it really doesn't have any natural barriers between neighborhoods such as rivers, mountains, or even freeways. One neighborhood blends into another. With this in mind, it seemed to the citizen that the claim that a program, funded with tax money, is only for Latinas because that's who lives near the program location, was hollow. In fact, it appears, to some observers, that this and other Latino only programs are being purposely located in a small geographic area, in what may be an attempt to keep non-Latinos out of the programs. Another program in the same city, also funded with our tax money, is supposed to serve "youths." Statistics from the program show that 99.67% of the youths in the program are Latino. There were no blacks, and no Asians and only one who claimed to be white, but who may actually have been Latino. This program is also now under investigation by the feds.

But all of this can't help but raise questions about Connerly himself. What's behind his push for the RPI? What makes him tick? Does he really want a color blind society, or is he pushing to eliminate distinct races in favor of a Tan Everyman?

Connerly gets heat from blacks who tell him he is hurting his "fellow blacks," yet he ignores them, and takes what many consider to be the aracial white position--a position that is increasing miscegenation and the genocide of distinct races, and especially the genocide of whites.

It may be that Connerly, given his mixed race background and despite the fact that he looks black, doesn't consider himself black at all. Yet, he can't claim his suppressed white or Indian genes either, because he doesn't look white or Indian. In other words, he has no strong racial identity, except "mixed-race." Connerly's confusion of genes seems to have led him to a position whereby he wants to be part of a new race. Could it be that, subconsciously, Connerly wants everyone else to also not have a strong racial identity? Isn't this what the Blenders, of whom I have written before, want for all of humanity?

It is reasonable to believe that the RPI, if passed, may further the creation of a mixed race Tan Everyman as the norm in society, and may help to further break down taboos that have kept the races from blending into this Tan Everyman. In other words, its effect would be to be a step toward the genocide of distinct races.

For all of the above reasons, I'm not buying Ward Connerly's race initiative. In the short term, it will prevent the rooting out of racial discrimination against whites, and in the longer term it will contribute to the further blending of distinct races by pretending that race doesn't matter.

Because his own genes are all mixed up, Ward Connerly appears to be something of a pitch man for the Tan Everyman. Connerly may not know which box to select when he's asked his race, but other Americans do know which box to check, and many want to keep it that way. Many Americans also don't want to see their tax money go to support discrimination against any distinct racial group, and they know they need these statistics to keep that from happening.
