Black-on-black crime: Woman Accused Of Killing Rilya Wilson Could Bond Out In May  MIAMI -- A judge ruled Tuesday that the woman accused of killing her foster child, Rilya Wilson, should be released on bond. The judge made the decision after the key witness against 59-year-old Geralyn Graham refused to testify. The witness is a woman who was in jail with Graham. She had told investigators that Graham had confessed to killing Rilya, but now she is refusing to talk about the case. Rilya's body has never been found. Black-on-black crime: Mother Arrested After 3-Year-Old Shoots 10-Year-Old Sistah  A Miami Gardens woman was arrested this morning and charged with child neglect after her 3-year-old son shot her 10-year-old daughter Monday afternoon. Sherice Latimore, 27, left a small-caliber handgun on a sofa in her home. Her 3-year-old son got a hold of the weapon and shot his sister in the chest. Lui Arrested in Wal-Mart Deaths GLENDALE, Ariz — Two Wal-Mart employees were shot to death Tuesday as they gathered shopping carts in the parking lot of one of the retail stores in suburban Phoenix. Ed Lui drove into the parking lot, got out of his car and shot each victim several times with a handgun. The Asian gunman then drove away but was followed by two witnesses who were able to provide license plate numbers. Investigators initially sent a robot to Ed Lui's door, fearing he could still be armed. The man came out with his hands up and was booked on two counts of first-degree murder. Authorities did not have a motive for the shootings. It does not appear Lui knew the victims or had a vendetta against them or Wal-Mart. The gunman did not appear to have been under the influence of any substance. "We don't know why he did this. This was barbaric," Pena said. - (Dragasès, Crusader) |
Jury Selection Begins Monday In Trial Of Man Charged With 89-Year-Old's Murder  DURHAM, N.C. -- Jury selection begins Monday in the trial of a man accused of the murder of a Durham grandmother. Lois Cannady, 89, was shot to death in her home as she called 911 to report a break-in on June 6, 2002. Sheriff's deputies arrested and charged five males for her death. Gregory Lee Jr., who was 18 years old at the time of Cannady's death, is the fourth of five suspects to be tried. Two other men pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and another was found guilty of first-degree murder. Authorities said Lee lived across the street from Cannady. - (Tyrone N. Pastor and NAACP president charged with homosexual child molestation of 12/13-year-old boy relative A Union County pastor, former NAACP president and Union County School Board member faces charges of child molestation. George Watson's picture and details of the molestation charges against him are all over the front page of the Union Daily Paper, while the charges date back nearly 10 years ago, the 21-year-old victim says he wants closure now. Watson is charged with three counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor. The victim is Watson's relative. The incidents allegedly happened when the boy was 12 or 13 years old through his senior year of high school. Watson sexually assaulted the boy at several locations. The victim says Watson performed oral sex acts on him, against his will. Bisexual pedophile sex assault suspect arrested for raping at least 18 little boys and girls  Aurora police have arrested a man suspected of sexually assaulting at least 18 children. Police said Zuri-Kye Latifbay McGhee, 31, met some of his victims by volunteering at local churches and schools. He also reportedly hosted sleepover parties. McGhee passed himself off as being between 13 and 15 years old, said police. His victims were both male and female, between the ages of 9 and 13. The investigation began after a 14-year-old reported an assault last month. McGhee lives in Aurora, at a home with an 11-year-old boy. - (Alan Richards) - (reader link) |
Temple of Faith Bishop Arrested for Lewd Act with a Seven-year-old Girl Richland County deputies have arrested a local bishop, charging him with crimes against a minor. Sixty-one year-old Theodore Myers is charged with one count of lewd act upon a child and one count of indecent exposure. Myers is the bishop of the Temple of Faith Bible Way Church. Investigators believe that on two separate occasions Myers enticed a seven- year–old girl up to his office located in the church. On one occasion Myers exposed himself to her. Suspect In Teen's Murder Surrenders The suspect in a June murder that brought attention to possible "turf wars" between Bond Hill and Avondale youth has surrendered to police. Jonathan White, 20, turned himself in Monday, Cincinnati police said. White allegedly shot and killed 16-year-old Eugene Lampkin, of Bond Hill, in the early morning hours of June 6. - (White Boy) |
Accused Black Carjacker Charged With 41 Felonies - murder of Hispanic woman   CHICAGO -- Seneca Allen, 21, of Harvey, appeared in court facing 41 felony counts, including first-degree murder, driving under the influence, vehicular hijacking and aggravated battery to a police officer. Officials said that when an officer arrived, Allen was on top of another man, punching him repeatedly. When the officer tried to stop the fight, Allen fled, but suddenly turned around and attacked the officer, injuring his knee. Allen then ran toward a car occupied by a woman driver and three male passengers and that Allen forcibly removed the driver from her seat and fled in the car, with the driver and passengers still inside. Three squad cars pursued the hijacked car. The chase ended when the car Allen was driving ran a stoplight and collided with a vehicle driven by Jose Luis Mendoza, 31, who was giving America Aguilera, 22, a ride home from the Lansing pizzeria where she worked. Aguilera, of Blue Island, was killed in the crash. |
Death Penalty Motions Heard In Dru Sjodin Murder Case  FARGO, N.D. -- Attorneys argued motions Friday in North Dakota in the death penalty case against Alfonso Rodriguez Jr. Prosecutors said they will seek the death penalty if Rodriguez is convicted in the death of University of North Dakota student Dru Sjodin. He's awaiting trial. Defense attorney Richard Ney argued in Fargo that Rodriguez's 1980 conviction in the attempted kidnapping and stabbing of a Crookston, Minn., woman shouldn't be used against him. - (Gman)

Black Teen Convicted In Jazz Fest Murder Of White Man Granted New Trial   NEW ORLEANS -- The teenager convicted of killing a fan at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival in 2004 may get a new trial. A judge ruled that evidence police withheld would have bolstered the defense's case that another youth was the shooter. John Duncan was convicted for shooting Daniel Breaux, 57, of Houma, in the back of the head after Breaux resisted an armed robbery as he was leaving the festival. Duncan was allegedly one of four youths involved in the shooting. Including Cedric Curtis and Jerone Walls. All but three pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder charges. The fourth teenager, Kelvin Atkins, pleaded guilty to a lesser charge and served as the prosecution's main witness against Duncan. - (black-on-white) - (White Boy) |
Man charged with grisly machete slaying of boy, mother Christopher Patterson, 32, is taken by cops from 60th Precinct stationhouse yesterday to face charges of killing his ex-girlfriend, Patricia Whitley, 46, and her son, Malik, 8. The creepy loner accused of strangling a Brooklyn mom and decapitating her 8-year-old son with a machete was arraigned yesterday, as the bloodbath's lone survivor struggled with the loss of her family. Police believe Patricia's son, Malik, walked in on the murder, and Patterson used a machete to savagely kill the boy. The boy's body parts were stuffed into several black plastic bags. Malik's screams woke Zina Whitley, 14,, and Patterson struck her in the head and attempted to rape her before calmly showering. Norfolk Police Arrest Four Suspects, Search for One More, in Deadly Drive-By Shooting  Norfolk police announced they had made four arrests, and identified one additional suspect, in connection with a drive-by shooting that left one man dead and three others - including two children - injured. Anthony Ellis, was arrested and three more suspects were arrested. James Nelson Wilson, 21, of the 400 block of West 27th Street, Timothy Cornelius Wilson, 18, at the same address and Jeana Lynn Lockett, 23, at the same address. Man sentenced for killing his 3-year-old son  HILLSBOROUGH, Florida -- A Hillborough County man will spend the next 30 years in prison for murdering his three-year-old son. Ronnie Paris Jr. told the judge he had been a good father. The child's foster mother said his condition deteriorated after he left foster care. Paris was convicted last month of second-degree murder and aggravated child abuse in the death of his son, Ronnie Paris after the boy slipped into a coma with swelling on both sides of his brain. The boy's mother, Nysheerah Paris, says her husband beat the boy and slammed his head into a kitchen wall. She is charged with child neglect and could get 15 years in prison if convicted. - (White Boy) |
Police: Teen Raped 9-Year-Old Boy - High School Student Accused Of Raping Boy CHICAGO -- Bond was set at $275,000 Sunday for a high school student accused of raping a 9-year-old boy. Martin Boyce, 18, appeared via closed-circuit television before a judge, charged with predatory criminal sexual assault. Boyce, a neighbor and friend of the boy's family, was watching television in the boy's home. Boyce told the boy to come over to the couch, pushed him to the floor and raped him. When the boy struggled, Boyce repeatedly punched him in the arm. The boy's mother walked into the room and saw her son and Boyce pulling up their pants, and Boyce told her, "It's not what it looks like." - (Svejk) |
African migrant woman charged with mutilating 3-year-old stepson's genitals - Some sort of African muti ritual?  "The child's scrotum had been cut open and the testicles had been pulled out." Deputies arrested 24-year-old Miama Kromah, charging her with unlawful conduct toward a child. According to the arrest warrant against her, deputies say Kromah injured the child with a sharp object. This is a horrific act, this injury to the child. This child has been mutilated." Miama Kromah is not a U.S. citizen. She and her husband, the child's father, are both from Liberia. Sports: Cordova High's Star running black Arrested for Rape Memphis, TN - Juvenile Court officials have confirmed Cordova High's star running black Jocques Crawford has been charged with aggravated rape. Details of the rape have not been released, but two other teenagers have also been arrested, 15- year-old Randy Harvey and Jocques' 17-year-old brother Xavier Crawford. All of them will be held in juvenile detention until their hearing on August 30th. Seattle kids counselor pleads guilty to sex abuse SEATTLE - A former children's counselor pleads guilty to child sex abuse in Seattle. Kenneth Bell, who worked at the Children's Home Society of Washington, admitted to a pair of rapes in the late 1990's. All of this was part of a plea agreement and because of it Bell will most likely avoid long jail time, and instead will face heavy counseling and treatment. Kenneth Bell admitted, after seven long years he raped a child in his care. "As I just read it to you, is that your statement?” asked the judge. “Yes sir,” replied Bell. - (War Eagle) |
Fugitive sex offender caught after a year on the run  Weslaco, Texas-- Police arrested 34-year-old Erasmo Martinez Casarez at a Donna hotel Thursday night. Police said a tip led them to Casarez after he failed to register as a sex offender. Casarez was charged last year with sexual assault of a 13-year-old. Police said evaded police by constantly moving around and changing vehicles.
