Suffered Brain Injury Attempted murder and other charges were filed Wednesday against a man accused in an apparent random attack on a 7-year-old boy in Desert Hot Springs, which rendered the child comatose. Daniel Birch Poulsen, 32, was arrested Sunday, the day after the youngster was found unconscious lying in the middle of the street in the 9600 block of Vista Del Valle. Along with attempted murder, Poulsen faces one count of willful child cruelty and sentence-enhancing allegations of committing bodily injury. Since 2007, Poulsen has been arrested and charged on 15 separate occasions in Riverside County on a wide array of allegations, including burglary, battery, resisting arrest, indecent exposure, committing lewd acts in public and annoying and/or molesting a child under 18 years old. woman shot to death in north
Charlotte shopping center CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Police say they were able to arrest three people hours after a woman was killed due to the help from witnesses. Katie Eckert, 27, was shot and killed in her car after an armed robbery. It happened at a shopping center off of West Sugar Creek Road after 5 p.m. Tuesday. Detectives have charged 22-year-old Marquez Tyrone Williamson, 25-year-old Bricard Washington and a 16-year-old-male for the murder. Witnesses gave officers a description of the suspect vehicle and the direction it headed, which allowed them to track down the car. A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle. Williamson, Washington and the juvenile male were all inside. All three were taken to police headquarters to be interviewed by detectives. At the conclusion of the interview, Williamson, Washington, and the juvenile male were charged with murder, three counts of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon. Additionally, the juvenile male was also charged with three counts of malicious conduct by a prisoner. “There was evidence there were drugs associated with that, and we believe that may be a potential motive,” CMPD Lt. BLACK MAN GETS AWAY WITH
MURDER OF A WHITE MAN Ex-Wake Forest coach avoids jail after ‘one-punch’ death of Florida tourist in NYC The former Wake Forest basketball coach whose knockout punch led to the death of a Florida tourist in Queens two years ago avoided jail time at his sentencing on Thursday. Jamill Jones, 37, will serve three years of probation, perform 1,500 hours of community service and pay a fine of $1,000 in the August 2018 death of Boca Raton resident Sandor Szabo. Jones had faced up to a year in prison after being found guilty in February of assault in the third degree. Then an assistant to Danny Manning at the ACC basketball program, Jones had slugged Szabo in the head for drunkenly banging on his car in Long Island City. Szabo — an online marketing exec who had earlier in the day attended his stepsister’s wedding — was looking for his ride-share vehicle when he knocked on Jones’ window, his family has said. The former college hoops coach pursued Szabo and socked him once in the face. Szabo, 35, fell and hit his head on the pavement, causing a skull fracture and other traumatic brain injuries. He died at the hospital three days later. The victim’s mother, Donna Kent, and other family members also attended the hearing via video. She ripped prosecutors’ decision to only charge Jones with third-degree assault, and the resulting sentence, as “inadequate and unfair for the crime of killing an individual.” - (Black-on-White) |

JPSO A surveillance camera was recording on the morning of July 2 when authorities say Arnold Magee left a Fat City apartment armed with a semi-automatic rifle, walked to the passenger-side window of his former girlfriend's car and opened fire as she frantically tried to drive away. Kawana Tibbet, 27, who had gone to the apartment to retrieve some belongings after their breakup, was fleeing Magee, 34, when that first shot was fired, according to Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office Detective Scott Bradley. She put the vehicle in reverse and hit a parked truck, then drove forward out of the camera's frame. Magee, on foot, was still following. Magee fired a second shot that wasn't captured by the camera but then is seen walking back into view, still holding the rifle, Bradley said. As Tibbet lay dying in her car with a gunshot wound to the chest, Magee called 911 to report the shooting, according to authorities. |

Attacking 8 Women In Boston BOSTON (CBS) – A Rhode Island man charged in January with posing as an Uber driver to kidnap and rape a woman after she left a Boston bar has been charged with “chillingly similar crimes” against seven other women. Alvin Campbell, the brother of Boston City Councilor Andrea Campbell, (right) was already being held on $250,000 bail. He now faces multiple charges of rape, kidnapping, and recording a nude person without consent for crimes that allegedly happened between 2017 and 2019. Investigators say Campbell targeted women at or near bars who were intoxicated and had summoned a ride share driver. “The attacks on these women are the acts of a predator,” District Attorney Rachael Rollins said. “Women are entitled to go out and enjoy themselves without the fear of being preyed upon, kidnapped or raped.” Campbell last worked for Uber in 2016, but when his vehicle was seized, it was “festooned with Uber stickers and logos,” according to the DA’s office. Campbell was arrested in January on charges he raped a woman that he picked up from the Harp after a holiday party. Investigators said the woman did not remember anything until she woke up at his home in Cumberland, RI. Rollins said the eight women who reported the assaults showed “incredible bravery and courage.” |

Ivan Robles Navejas, 28, won DACA status in 2013, about the same time he was charged with resisting arrest, but his status lapsed two years later, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. In 2016, he was charged with DUI and appeared on ICE’s radar, but the agency didn’t pursue deportation because the Obama administration didn’t consider drunken driving an offense serious enough to trigger deportation. Two years later, he was charged with aggravated assault. Police said he smashed his pickup into a man, pinning him to another vehicle, and then bit off his ear. He had conditional permanent legal status at the time, so he didn’t appear on ICE’s radar. |

Carlos Eduardo Mora, 27, has been arrested and booked into the Maricopa County Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder, aggravated assault, kidnapping and theft of means of transportation. Authorities got a call around 9:33 p.m. regarding an injured person on the side of the road on westbound US 60 at milepost 116. When DPS troopers arrived, they found two girls with serious injuries. A 13-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene by fire personnel, while a 12-year-old was flown to a Phoenix-area hospital and is in critical condition. It is not known how the girl died. After further investigation, it was discovered the two had been kidnapped earlier in the day. Troopers were also tipped off about a possible suspect wearing bloody clothing at a nearby gas station in Wickenburg. Troopers apprehended the man, who was later identified as Mora, after he provided authorities with false information about his identity. Officials said Mora and another adult male were with the two victims at a family residence in Phoenix when they decided to drive to a local convenience store. When the other adult male went back inside the home, Mora jumped into the driver’s seat and fled in the vehicle with the two victims still in the backseat. The man tried to intervene and was struck by Mora with the vehicle. Family members were able to contact the two victims and heard screaming before the phone was disconnected, DPS said. |

The suspect then walked into the middle of traffic and continued to yell at the officers that they would need to hurt him to stop him. Police said the suspect then advanced toward the officers with the handsaw. The officers used less-lethal munition against the suspect, and he threw down the handsaw. Police said they continued talking to him to deescalate the situation, however, “several (anti-police trouble-makers) interrupted their conversation with him by screaming and taunting the officers, only increasing his level of agitation again,” according to the Portland Police Bureau. Eventually, police said “calm conversation and active listening” led to the suspect being safely taken into custody. Shane Vordelmicha Green, 58, was arrested on charges including second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, attempted assault, strangulation, menacing, harassment, disorderly conduct, reckless endangering and disorderly conduct. - (Black-on-White) |

Harvey man booked with father's
murder fired 'until he emptied the
weapon,' authorities say A Harvey man challenged to a fight by his father during an argument pulled out a gun and fired until he emptied the weapon. Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office investigators recovered five spent shell casings from the Chadwood Drive home of Robert Green IV, 50, who was pronounced dead in the July 17 shooting. Green's son, Robert Green V, 22, who is facing a second-degree murder charge, appeared before Jefferson Parish Criminal Commissioner Paul Schneider via videoconference Wednesday for a bail hearing. The elder and younger Green began quarreling over a food order in the car on the way home from the restaurant, Jefferson Parish Assistant District Attorney Kellie Rish told the court. The argument continued after the arrived home. There was a history of domestic strife between the pair, according to authorities. Green IV told his son that they were going to fight and the younger Green "better kill him with his gun," Rish said, noting that the father was aware his son was armed. The elder Green took a fighting stance, and Green V shot his father. |

73-Year-Old
Woman Says She Was Attacked By
Crazy Black Female In Front Of
Port Authority Personnel, But No
One Helped NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — A 73-year-old woman was attacked near the Port Authority in Manhattan, and she said even with witnesses, no one stepped in to help. But on Tuesday night, police said they may have a lead on that suspect, CBS2’s Ali Bauman reported. “I mean, there’s a lot of people there. You wouldn’t think one would be attacked,” victim Judy Schwartz said. Schwartz is recovering after suffering bruises to her eye and arm, and a fractured finger. At around 2 p.m. on July 4 she was walking on Eighth Avenue near the Port Authority when she noticed a strange woman following close. “I walked forward three steps; she walked forward three steps and stopped. I walked backward three steps; she walked backward three steps and stopped,” Schwartz said. Police released surveillance photos of the woman who Schwartz said then lunged at her. “She started hitting me with one hand and with the other hand she was going around trying to unclasp my fanny pack, saying, ‘I want that. I want that,'” Schwartz said. The victim said the woman rummaged through her fanny pack, throwing her rubber gloves to the side, and then tossed the whole bag when she didn’t find anything valuable. Schwartz said this happened while authorities stood idly by. “She took it as three Port Authority personnel came across the street, because I was screaming my head off. And she was not apprehended. She walked away,” Schwartz said. Fast forward three weeks to Tuesday morning. Police arrested a woman around the corner who they saw wielding a hammer and banging it against a light pole on the street. That woman is now being questioned in connection to Schwartz’s attack. |

Pack of BLACK men jump out of car
to chase, beat 51-year-old Jewish
man on Kings Highway The NYPD’S Hate Crimes Unit is investigating after a Jewish man says he was punched in the face last week in Midwood. Police tell News 12 the man says he was crossing the street at the intersection of Kings Highway and East 26th Street when a group of people yelled out the window of their car “you f-ing Jew.” Police say the men are then seen in the surveillance video, released by the NYPD, jumping out of the car and chasing him down. Investigators say they punched the 51-year-old man in the head and body causing a cut to his forehead and a hairline fracture to his finger. It happened around 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 11 right in front of 2525 Kings Highway, which is New York Community Hospital. Police say the victim walked into the hospital, and was treated and released. The Anti-Defamation League says this attack took place during the sabbath, which makes it even more upsetting. They also say last Thursday, a Jewish man wearing a yarmulke told police he was attacked by someone with a bat or stick while walking down the street. The ADL is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for each of the attacks in addition to the NYPD Crime Stoppers reward. |

house Disgraced ex-Cardinal Theodore McCarrick allegedly ran a sex ring out of his New Jersey beach house — where one victim claims he was molested by him and three other priests, according to a new lawsuit. The victim — “Doe 14” — says the alleged HOMO abuse began when he was 14 during overnight stays at McCarrick’s Sea Girt home in 1982. “In the night, with the assistance of others, McCarrick would creep into this kid’s bed and engage in criminal sexual assault of him, whispering, ‘It is OK,'” Jeff Anderson, the attorney for the now-53-year-old victim, said at a virtual press conference Wednesday. Other priests allegedly served as part of a “crew” of procurers of young boys for then-Bishop McCarrick, who “assigned sleeping arrangements, choosing his victims from the boys, seminarians and clerics present at the beach house,” the suit says. |

Suspect in custody in what police
are calling a ‘thrill killing’;
(White) victim identified LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Las Vegas Metro Police Department updated the public on an investigation into what they are calling a “thrill killing.” It was a violent crime that happened last week near Decatur Boulevard and Sahara Avenue. According to Metro Lt. Ray Spencer, the investigation revealed two events that appear to have been perpetrated by the same suspect happened 400 yards apart. Through the course of the investigation, homicide detectives identified 21-year-old Noah Green as the suspect in these crimes. “We believe we have taken a very dangerous person off of the streets, and we believe that he would have committed the crime of murder again had it not been for the action of this agency. Spencer said an early morning jogger discovered a man’s body on a sidewalk July 13 in central Las Vegas, near Pennwood Avenue near Decatur Boulevard. The coroner’s office has identified the victim as 48-year-old Brent Lloyd. His death was ruled a homicide, caused by a gunshot wound of the head. In addition, Green was also suspected of committing another shooting two days later in the same general area as the homicide. In that case, a 66-year-old man was out walking his dog when he was approached by Green, who allegedly shot him in the chest at very close range. That victim is currently in critical condition. During the course of the investigation, homicide detectives discovered surveillance video that captured the murder and violent crime. After reviewing the footage, they believe both attacks were completely unprovoked. When officers eventually took Green into custody, they recovered a gun in a paper bag in the Green’s right pocket. At this time, the agencies did not have enough to charge Green in either case. After obtaining a search warrant, the digital forensics team discovered video on Green’s phone of both the homeless person being murdered unprovoked and the unprovoked shooting of the man walking his dog. Spencer called the videos “absolutely disturbing.” - (Black-on-White) |

Closes Chinese Consulate in
Houston Amid Surge in Chinese
Espionage Cases Washington directed the closure of the consulate “to protect American intellectual property and Americans’ private information,” State Department spokesperson Morgan Ortagus said on Wednesday. Ortagus did not cite a specific incident that prompted the move, but she raised accusations that China violated U.S. sovereignty. The closure was announced after a sweeping indictment was unsealed in federal court in Washington state outlining years of Chinese state-directed hacking and theft of intellectual property affecting victims across the United States and in other countries. “The United States will not tolerate the PRC’s violations of our sovereignty and intimidation of our people, just as we have not tolerated the PRC’s unfair trade practices, theft of American jobs, and other egregious behavior. President Trump insists on fairness and reciprocity in U.S.-China relations,” Ortagus said, referring to the People’s Republic of China. |

in Memorial Day road rage shooting
admitted to firing gun, say
authorities BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - The man who authorities say killed Brandon Box on Memorial Day during an alleged road rage shooting admitted to police that he fired the fatal shots, said state officials on Monday. Janvique Entrael Franklin Jr., 24, was arrested in Hammond, La. on Friday, said officials with the Department of Public Safety and MBI during a press conference in Biloxi on Monday. “This information came to us that Mr. Franklin had been investigated on a domestic charge, a domestic violence charge, out of Hammond, La. At the time of that call, a firearm was noticed in his residence. Based upon the information that Agent (Jason) Gazzo was able to ascertain, we were able to determine that was the vehicle being driven at the time of the shooting. Based upon putting those things together, it was determined that it was a rental car and we were able to link it to the individual,” said Tindell. Mr. Franklin was taken into custody. It was during this time that he actually confessed to owning the firearm and he also confessed to being the shooter in the vehicle.” Brandon Box died on May 25, 2020, while driving on I-10 in Jackson County. Authorities say his death was the result of a road rage shooting. The 2019 Dodge Ram belonging to Box was shot several times, killing the 30-year-old Gulfport man. According to authorities, a firecracker was thrown from the suspect’s car and landed in the bed of the truck at the foot of the Pascagoula bridge near the rest area. The two vehicles then reportedly engaged in aggressive driving for nearly 20 miles before the road rage culminated with Brandon Box being shot near mile marker 51. Franklin is now charged with charged with homicide in the heat of passion, which according to Mississippi law is “the killing of a human being, without malice, in the heat of passion, but in a cruel or unusual manner, or by the use of a dangerous weapon, without authority of law, and not in necessary self-defense.” - (Black-on-White) |

Busy Dallas Highway After Crash DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Dallas County Sheriff’s deputies are seeking the public’s help after a driver was assaulted along a busy Dallas Highway when he was involved in a vehicle accident with an unidentified driver. A passerby caught the confrontation on video. The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, when a black and white Ford Crown Victoria stuck a maroon truck from behind that was traveling westbound on I-20 at I-35 in Dallas County. The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office said the driver of the Ford did not stop after the accident and continued about a ¼ mile down the road before the vehicle broke down due to the damage from the accident. The driver of the truck had followed them and stopped ahead of the Ford after the Ford became disabled. The driver of the truck got out and approached the driver of the Ford to exchange insurance information. As he was doing this, two young men got out of the Ford with two children and got into a gray van that had pulled up behind them. The driver of the truck was still trying to get information when a young (black) man attacked him, knocked him to the ground and struck him several times with his fists. |

Quadruple
shooting at Coney Island leaves 3
men dead including 2 brothers DETROIT (WXYZ) — "I just spoke to him a couple hours before this happened," said Tracey Jones about her 24-year-old son who was killed inside the A-Eagles Coney Island late Sunday night. Her son, Carnell Watts, was with his 20-year-old stepbrother, Cortney Willis, who was also killed. The two brothers worked together doing carpentry, Tracey said. The electricity was out in their neighborhood and Carnell, Cortney, and their cousin decided to go to the carryout restaurant at the corner of Dexter and Joy Roads to get something to eat around 11 pm. Detroit Police said a 25-year-old parolee was also inside the restaurant and pulled out a gun and opened fire, fatally shooting Carnell and Cortney. Their cousin, Branden Mosley, 28, was also shot but survived. At last check, he was in critical condition. A 34-year-old man was also killed. Detroit Police Chief James Craig said surveillance video shows the shooter had a brief conversation with one of the victims, but Craig said the man did not appear to be agitated. Some of that surveillance video is also circulating on social media and it shows the shooter wearing a red shirt and standing next to his female companion at the counter as she is placing an order. He then pulls out a handgun from his pocket or waistband and lunges at one of the men and fires at point-blank range. The shooter continues to fire at two other men who are standing nearby and a fourth man who rushes out the front door. The woman who was with the shooter can also be seen exiting the restaurant and, while behind her, the shooter takes aim at the man who rushed out right before her. Less than seven hours later, Detroit Police had the suspect in custody. He parked the old white pickup truck he'd been driving on Connecticut Street near Brush and, on foot, went to Tennyson Street where Detroit Police arrested him. The 25-year-old suspect is currently on parole for robberies out of Wayne and Oakland counties. About an hour and fifteen minutes after he allegedly killed the three men and wounded a fourth, the suspect tagged two of his relatives in a post on Facebook. He wrote, "I love y’all." |

Steal Massive TV From Walmart Florida cops are seeking to identify the woman who Sunday afternoon tried to push a shopping cart containing the massive TV out of a store in Mulberry, a town 40 miles east of Tampa. According to police, the suspect, accompanied by a female cohort, placed assorted electronics items into her cart before adding the 65” Philips TV, which sat precariously in the cart. When the woman bypassed the checkout lines and headed for the door, Walmart security stopped her and asked to see a receipt for the items in her cart. The woman could not produce evidence that she had paid for the merchandise. At this point, the woman’s accomplice took the smaller items from the cart and placed them in her car. The duo then fled in the vehicle, leaving the $450 TV behind. |

Gun-toting Chicago carjacking
suspects range in age from 10 to
17 years old A group of gun-toting kids is behind a string of Chicago carjackings, with suspects ranging from 10 to 17 years old, according to local police. A PACK of four to six African American males allegedly approached more than a dozen victims between June 23 and July 18, demanding their vehicles and property, the Chicago Police Department said. On two occasions, the suspects allegedly fired gunshots, but no injuries were reported. The group approached her as she was pulling into her garage on July 14, the outlet reported. She said she saw a group of children approaching, one around 11 years old -- and at least two of them were carrying handguns. They aimed the guns at her head, ordered her out of the car, and stole it along with her purse, which she said had about $300 in cash inside. The thieves used Blanchard’s stolen BMW the next day to carjack a 21-year-old woman in a hospital parking lot, Fox 32 reported. |

WASHINGTON — In the latest attempt to "name and shame" China’s government-sponsored cyber theft, the Justice Department announced an indictment Tuesday charging two Chinese nationals — both in China — with hacking governments, dissidents, human rights activists and private companies, including those engaged in COVID-19 vaccine research. The indictment says the hackers operated both for their own profit and also for the main Chinese intelligence service, the Ministry of State Security. It says they were assisted by an unnamed Chinese intelligence officer known to the grand jury. Officials said these were the first federal charges related to alleged theft of coronavirus research. |

Hearing for two blacks charged
with the murder of a White couple
and other murders Two men already in custody on murder charges in last summer's Cobra bar shootings have been indicted in connection with two other shootings, including one that resulted in the death of a Madison man. Horace Williamson, 27, and Demontrey Logsdon, 20, were previously indicted on first degree murder and especially aggravated robbery charges in connection with the Aug. 17 shooting outside Cobra Bar. Investigators said they shot and killed two of the robbery victims: Bartley Teal, 33, and Jaime Sarrantonio, 30. Now, Williamson and Logsdon have each been indicted on additional charges of first-degree murder and aggravated robbery in connection with the death of Kendall Rice. Rice, 31, was walking from his home on Crestview Drive around 5 a.m. on Aug. 14 to catch a bus on North Gallatin Road when a dark-colored sedan drove up behind him in the 100 block of Alta Loma Road, police said. A witness told police two men, who appeared to be in their 30s, shot Rice and fled in the sedan. The men were armed with a rifle. - (Black-on-White) |

deputies seek two (black) suspects
after Davenport murder DAVENPORT, Fla. - Deputies in Polk County say they’re looking for two “armed and dangerous” suspects after a drug-related murder in Davenport on Wednesday. According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, it was just after 1:30 p.m. when Deonta Bugg was shot while trying to sell marijuana to two people he met on Snapchat. When deputies responded to the parking lot of the Days Inn motel along U.S. Highway 27, they found Bugg, 22, with a gunshot wound to the chest. Bugg was taken to the Heart of Florida Hospital, where he later died. A witness told police that the suspects were driving a white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that headed south towards Haines City; another witness was able to grab a partial tag number off the truck. Detectives say they tracked down the truck in Lake Hamilton. They believe Cory Bowland Jr. borrowed the truck Wednesday and picked up Sedrick Myers; the pair then drove to the Days Inn where Myers allegedly shot Bugg. Myers, 20, and Bowland, 18, are both wanted on charges of first-degree murder, armed robbery, and tampering with evidence. The sheriff’s office warned that both should be considered armed and dangerous. |

Attorney:
Brownsburg armed passerby may have
prevented mass shooting by berserk
black killer 36-year-old Seth Robertson was killed in the shooting. BROWNSBURG, Ind. — The attorney for a man who intervened during an active shooting in Brownsburg says his client may have saved multiple lives. “My concern if my client wasn’t there to intervene and heroically save one life, there could have been multiple other people killed. This could have easily been a mass shooting,” said Guy Relford. Relford’s client, who wishes to remain anonymous, was driving around the intersection of 56th Street and North Grant Street when he heard gunshots and a bullet flew into his car. That is when he intervened as the suspect had a weapon aimed at an unarmed man. “The victim is screaming, 'Help me! Help me! Please don’t shoot, please don’t shoot!' and my client from his car made the first shot that struck the suspect,” said Relford. The passerby fired three more times, killing the suspect, 22-year-old Joshua Hayes. Brownsburg Police said Hayes appeared to have a psychotic episode when he got out of his car and started firing at two men working in a nearby cemetery. 36-year-old Seth Robertson was killed in the shooting. Hayes reportedly drove to the scene, approached Robertson and the other victim and began shooting. The victims began running, separating in an attempt to seek safety from the gunfire. Hayes pursued Robertson, catching him at 56th and Grant and shooting him. Robertson died at the scene. Hayes then began chasing the second victim on foot, police said, through a residential neighborhood and back onto 56th Street. He was firing his weapon at the second victim during the chase, according to a police report detailing the incident. Hayes caught up with the other man in the westbound lane of 56th Street and was still firing as a physical altercation ensued. The passerby, who is licensed to legally carry a firearm, intervened and shot Hayes as the suspect was pointing his gun at victim two's head. Hayes died at the scene, police said. - (Black-on-White) |

TRAITORS released Guatemalan
assault suspect despite ICE
immigration detainer Since 2017, Julio Andres Gonzalez-Palacios has received multiple convictions for crimes including theft, assault, failure to appear, and trespassing. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement says an illegal immigrant for whom it had issued a detainer allegedly attacked a woman shortly after he was released from custody in another assault. Julio Andres Gonzalez-Palacios, a 23-year-old Guatemalan national, was arrested July 9 in Denver for assault and burglary. On July 10, the Denver IN-Justice Center released Gonzalez-Palacio back into the community, ignoring an immigration detainer issued by ICE, the agency alleges. That same day, according to police, Gonzalez-Palacios allegedly assaulted a woman on the High Line Canal Trail in Aurora – about 16 miles west of Denver. The woman, whose identity was not released, was seriously injured and remains in the hospital, KCNC-TV reported. Gonzalez-Palacios is now back in the custody of the Arapahoe County Jail facing a charge of assault with a deadly weapon. The Denver Justice Center could not be reached for comment. “This was a completely preventable crime,” said John Fabbricatore, field office director, ERO Denver. “Gonzalez-Palacios could have been safely transferred to ICE custody and he may have been removed from the country, but due to Colorado’s misguided sanctuary law, law enforcement agencies are no longer able to work with us to keep repeat offenders off the streets.” |

Family,

18-year-old killed in collision
with (black) suspect fleeing
police GLENOLDEN, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- Family and friends of an 18-year-old woman killed in a crash in Delaware County came to together for a vigil Friday night at the site that is now marked with flowers. The group of mourners wore purple - Angel MacIntyre's favorite color - as they remembered the teenager who had just graduated from Sun Valley High School. "With COVID-19, not having a prom, not having a graduation, so if we have to honor her this way, then that is what we have to do," family friend Jeannette Volpe said. Less than 48 hours earlier, cop cars, flashing lights and yellow tape covered the same intersection in Glenolden. Police said the fatal crash was triggered by a routine traffic stop. Collingdale police said the incident began around 1 a.m. Thursday when an officer pulled over the driver of a Ford Escape for a traffic violation. The officer said when he exited his car to approach the vehicle, the driver, later identified as 26-year-old Anthony Jones of Chester, drove away. Police said Jones then turned into a McDonald's located on MacDade Boulevard in Darby and pulled over. But once again, when the officer exited the patrol car, he sped away, ramming a police vehicle in the process. Jones' SUV then collided with a car with teenagers Matt Munafo and Angel MacIntyre inside at the intersection of MacDade Boulevard and Oak Lane in Glenolden. Police said Jones ran away from the scene, leaving his three children, ages 3, 5 and 7, behind along with two injured females and illegally owned guns. Jones was subsequently apprehended and arrested. He admitted to being on drugs, police said. The impact of the crash was so intense, MacIntyre died at the scene. Munafo was taken tot he hospital and remains critically injured. Family and friends said MacIntyre's sister was in the car behind and watched her sister pass. "No excuses. It's not fair he took a life," said family friend Noreen Kilgore. "Her life was cut short because of some reckless behavior and it's not fair. She just graduated," said family friend Ashley Whalen. MacIntyre was set to start at Keystone College in the fall. Now, a makeshift memorial represents a grim reminder of the plans once on the horizon. "We drive by here every single day. So every day you drive by, it's just going to be a reminder; it's not fair," Whalen said. - (Black-on-White) |

Shortly after 4 a.m. on Wednesday morning, police were responded to a 911 call at 16 St. Matthews Ave. When officers arrived at the home, they found a teenage girl suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to Hamilton General Hospital in life-threatening condition and died around 9:30 a.m., said Det. Sgt. Steve Bereziuk of the major crime unit. Larmond did not live in the home where she was shot but knew at least one person who did. The suspect was located near the scene by officers and was arrested at 2:35 a.m. on Thursday, according to a media release. Devante Skye-Davis, 21, who appeared at John Sopinka Courthouse by video Thursday, has been charged with manslaughter. “At this time, the evidence supports an element of carelessness and recklessness by the accused,” stated the release. “There is currently no evidence to suggest the victim was the intended target.” In the Criminal Code, manslaughter is a homicide committed without the intent to cause death. investigators believed there were as many as five people inside the main area of the home when the gun went off. Police were initially looking for two males in their early 20s that were said to have fled out the back door of the home. Police have not confirmed any relationship between Larmond and Skye-Davis but Vickers said the pair had “dated.” She could not confirm for how long and if they were still in a relationship at the time of the shooting. On Wednesday, a pool of blood could be seen on the sidewalk, with a trail of blood leading up the front stairs and further into the home. - (Black-on-White) - (Canada) |

evidence leads to arrest of
(black) Fort Worth man in murder
of (white) Cleburne woman Fort Worth, Texas A 31-year-old Fort Worth man wanted in a 2018 murder of a 24-year-old Cleburne woman was booked into jail early Monday, according to jail records. Police did not comment on a motive for the November 2018 shooting death. Daricko Brewer, 31, faces a charge of murder, according to Fort Worth jail records. He was in the Tarrant County Jail Monday afternoon in lieu of $250,000 bond. Brewer is accused of fatally shooting 24-year-old Katie Jean McHowell, a mother of two, while the two were in a car on Nov. 2, 2018. Fort Worth police responded to a report of a minor traffic accident on Nov. 2, 2018, in the 5100 block of Brentwood Stair Road. The body of a woman later identified as Katie J. McHowell was discovered in the car, dead of an apparent gunshot wound. A gun was in the car with her, police said. Officials with the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office ruled that McHowell died from a gunshot wound to the neck and her death was a homicide. Forensic testing led detectives to believe Brewer was in the car. Police did not release any information on the forensic testing. - (Black-on-White) |
