Man charged in case of (White) woman found shot to death in
running car  INDIANAPOLIS
— Police on Wednesday arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with
the January 2019 shooting death of an Indianapolis woman.According to a report from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, homicide detectives working with the Marion County Prosecutor's Office obtained an arrest warrant and arrested Samuel Newson, 19, for his alleged involvement in the Jan. 9, 2019 shooting death of Svitlana Novotney, 19. Novotney was found dead in a running vehicle. According to police, officers were called to the 7400 block of Merganser Drive on Jan. 9, 2019 on report of a person shot. When officers arrived, they found Novotney in a vehicle suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Somali woman in a park on Mother’s Day, Sunday, March 22nd, a
coroner was told during a court hearing.Emily Jones, the victim, was riding her scooter in the Queen’s Park, Heaton while on an outing with her father when she was senselessly and viciously attacked by a 30-year-old Somali woman, English regional newspaper Bolton News reports. Despite emergency services’ best attempts to save Emily’s life, she passed away about an hour later after she was rushed to the hospital. Following the horrific attack, the Somali murderer – who was not previously known to Emily or to parents – was arrested at the scene of the crime on suspicion of murder. The 30-year-old woman is now being held at a high-security detention center under the Mental Health Act. Shockingly, the nationality of Somali attacker was never mentioned by the UK’s mainstream press in what appears to have been an attempt to bury the story.

say DNA from a used condom helped them bring charges against a
Springfield man who allegedly sexually abused a
runaway girl three years ago.Christopher Johnson, 34, was charged Tuesday with first-degree statutory rape for acts that allegedly occurred in May 2017. Tuesday's charge against Johnson comes almost a year after the other defendant in this case, Robert McCaw, was convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison for his role. McCaw was accused in 2017 of harboring two runaway girls at a home in Springfield's Fassnight neighborhood, giving them meth and planning to have them participate in commercial sex acts. According to court documents filed this week, Springfield police recovered a used condom at McCaw's home as part of their investigation in 2017. Police say DNA recovered from the outside of the condom matched one of the victims, and evidence from the inside of the condom was entered into the Combined DNA Index System — a DNA database used by law enforcement. Springfield police were notified that Johnson was a possible match for the DNA from inside the condom. |

man accused of molesting a
4-year-old girl while staying in her family’s
Texarkana, Ark., home last year has been charged with two counts of
rape in Miller County.Charles S. Anderson, 61, allegedly lived briefly in an apartment on Community Street where the girl lived in August 2019, according to a probable cause affidavit. The allegations were brought to the attention of law enforcement March 4 after the girl’s mother took her to a local hospital to be examined. Hospital staff notified Texarkana, Ark., police and arrangements were made for the girl to undergo a forensic interview. The girl reported that “Uncle Speedy,” the name she uses to refer to Anderson, had touched her inappropriately on multiple dates. Anderson was arrested for rape March 7 by the Texarkana, Arkansas, Police Department. Miller County prosecutors have filed two counts of rape involving a child under 14 against Anderson. Because of the alleged victim’s age, Anderson faces 25 to 40 years or life in prison on each count. |

Campbell, who prosecutors said has a “serious” record of violent offenses, is being charged as a habitual criminal. If convicted, the charges could land Campbell in prison for life. |

N.C. (WBTV) - A man charged in the murder of beloved NoDa restaurant
co-owner Scott Brooks is now facing charges in two additional
killings.Terry Connor Jr., 33, is charged for his role in the murders of Asa Shannon and Siojvon Joseph, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police announced Friday. Connor has been charged with first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree kidnapping, armed robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy and first-degree burglary. Connor was in custody at the Mecklenburg County Jail for Brooks’ killing when the warrants were served. Warrants released state that Brooks was robbed of $100 when he shot and killed while opening his family business. A second person is being sought in the case, police say, and a $21,000 reward is still being offered for information that leads to the arrest of that person. |

A Wichita man has been charged with murder in connection with the domestic violence shooting deaths of his girlfriend and daughter last week, police said. Officer Paul Cruz said in a news release that Daniel Oswaldo Lopez was charged in Sedgwick County District Court with capital murder, criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and aggravated assault. No charging document or arrest warrant for the murder case were publicly available through the court system Sunday afternoon. However, court documents from a separate case allege Lopez killed his family two days before their bodies were found. Lopez, who is not in custody, is wanted in connection with the shooting deaths of his girlfriend MicKayla Sorell, 24, and their (mixed-race) daughter Natalya Sorell, 8. Police were called March 30 to check the welfare of the woman after she did not show up to work. Officers found their bodies in a home in the 4500 block of South Walnut. |

Teen shoots mother, little sister and his baby after suffering

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (WOAI) – UPDATE - A 19-year-old man shot his
mother, his little sister and his baby boy after suffering a mental
breakdown overnight, according to police.He has been identified as Lance Tello. Police responded to the 9500 block of Five Forks on the West side of San Antonio at around 2:00 a.m. Saturday morning for reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a 49-year-old woman, a 14-year-old girl and a one-month-old baby with gunshot wounds. They were all rushed to University Hospital for treatment. San Antonio Police Chief William McManus told us there were a total of nine people inside the house when the 19-year-old had some sort of mental breakdown. According to police, Tello first shot the baby, then shot his mother and sister when they ran into the room, then he ran from the home. The baby's mother was also inside the home, but was not injured. Police were able to locate him several blocks away and took him into custody. |

Nearly 11 Years, BLACK Shooter Arrested for
RACIALLY-MOTIVATED murder of (White) man - SHOT IN BACK   ARAPAHOE
COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) – After almost 11 years of investigation,
Arapahoe County authorities have arrested Terrell Jones, the
26-year-old man who they believe shot and killed Andrew
Graham while trying to rob him in November 2009. Court records
show an arrest warrant was issued Tuesday and murder charges were
filed against Jones who authorities always believed was the
triggerman in the Graham killing, but investigators never had
enough evidence or proof to obtain an arrest warrant until this
week. Jones is being charged with one count of first degree murder after deliberation, and one count of felony murder according to court records. He has repeatedly denied to investigators that he killed Andrew Graham. “It doesn’t bring my son back, but at least he’s being held accountable,” said Cyndi Gelston-Graham, Andrew Graham’s mother. “My husband said he thought nothing would ever happen but I never gave up the faith.” Graham, 23, was shot and killed in November 2009 as he returned to his home in Centennial from a nearby RTD light rail station. Graham was shot in the back and investigators suspected he was the target of a racially-motivated robbery. Investigators soon zeroed in on five suspected gang members who they believed were connected to Graham’s death: Terrell Jones, Allen Ford, Kendall Austin, Joseph Martin and Clarissa Lockhart. (follow

Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) -- A man accused in the stabbing
of two women has now been charged with murder after
one of the women died. Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck Jr.
said Duane Edward Taylor Jr. of Moraine stabbed two women in a car Dec. 28, 2018, on Crew Circle in Miami Township. Heck said Taylor was in the backseat of the vehicle when he attacked the women. The women were able to identify Taylor as the assailant, Heck said. Ronda Neal, 53, of Dayton died Oct. 22, 2019. Today, April 1, 2020, Montgomery County Coroner Kent Harshbarger said she died of post-traumatic tracheal stenosis due to complications of multiple stab wounds. Taylor was indicted in January 2019 on felonious assault and retaliation charges. Today, a grand jury indicted Taylor on one count of murder. Taylor remains in the Montgomery County Jail. of Dr. Beth Potter and her
husband, Robin Carre.Late Friday night, police arrested Ali'jah J. Larrue, 18, and booked him into the Dane County Jail. Police said Larrue has been charged with two counts of Party to a Crime for First Degree Intentional Homicide. On Friday, police announced they had arrested Khari Sanford, 18. He is charged with two counts of Party to a Crime for First Degree Intentional Homicide. Police say Sanford and Larrue shot the couple. "While this remains a very active police investigation, UWPD investigators believe the two primary suspects in this murder investigation are in custody," UWPD spokesperson Marc Lovicott in a press release. "As we’ve previously stated, we believe this senseless and tragic act was targeted towards the couple and was not random." On Tuesday, a jogger found Potter and Carre near the entrance to the UW Arboretum, according to UW Police. Woman jailed after social media argument escalates into
real-life shooting: Alamance Co. Sheriff's Office  GRAHAM,
N.C. — A heated argument on social media escalated into real-life
violence when a Graham woman fired a handgun into a house and fled,
according to the Alamance County Sheriff's Office.Deputies arrested Tajah Bailey, 20, on two felony charges stemming from the shooting. The investigation began just before midnight on April 2, when someone called 911 to report that multiple rounds had been fired into their home. No injuries were reported. Deputies responded to the "shots fired" call at the home in Haw River, N.C. where the suspect had fled. "Investigators discovered the shooting occurred over an altercation between a mutual friend of the victim and the shooter. The altercation escalated over social media to the point of violence," according to a press release from the Alamance County Sheriff's Office. Tajah Renee Bailey was arrested just three hours after the shooting at her home, following examination of evidence and interviews with witnesses. Bailey used a small black handgun with a red laser to fire shots into the victim's home, arrest warrants said. |

(FOX 13) - A Davenport couple has been arrested following the death
of a 2-year-old boy, deputies say, in a case that Sheriff Grady Judd
said was one of the worst cases of child abuse he's seen in a while.
"This baby, this beautiful child, was tortured," Judd said. "And
they sat there and watched this baby die." The Polk County Sheriff’s
Office said they arrested 26-year-olds Shannon Short and her
boyfriend, Christian Thompson. Short is the mother of the young victim, Harley Don Hiatt Jr., who would have turned 3 in October. Both lived in the 100 block of Memorial Park Avenue. Sheriff Judd said Thompson beat the boy repeatedly, leading to his death, while Short was aware of the abuse and sometimes encouraged it. |

YANKEE HILL, Calif. - The Butte Sheriff's Office announced they arrested two men after finding over one thousand marijuana plants being grown in east Butte County on April 2. Officials served a search warrant at a Rich Gulch Road property in Yankee Hill and say they detained two men who they found sleeping inside a "makeshift cabin". Deputies say they learned the two men had been tending to the 1,354 marijuana plants being grown inside eight greenhouses. During the search and eradication, deputies say they also found evidence hinting the property had previously been used for marijuana cultivation. Deputies eradicated all of the plants and arrested 24-year-old Juan Cortez and 33-year-old Nelzon "Cyclops" Ramirez, both from Honduras, for illegal cultivation of marijuana and possession of marijuana for sale. About 30 minutes later, a car was reported in a ditch off of Kershaw-Camden Highway. Deputies said it was the victim’s car. Fisher, Truesdale and Stacks were together Saturday night into Sunday morning, officials said. Homicide investigation in Lancaster County. Deputies say a man was found dead on a gravel road off Potter Rd near Kirk air base. He’d been shot. Later his car was found in a ditch on Kershaw Camden Hwy near AJ high school. They were traveling in a 2001 Saturn sedan owned by Stacks’ father. At about sunrise, Fisher drove with Stacks and Truesdale as passengers onto Kirk Air Base Road. Fisher stopped the car and the three got out. Fisher fired a handgun killing Stacks, whose body was left on the side of the road. Authorities said Fisher drove the Saturn toward Kershaw until it had mechanical problems and that’s when he drove the car into a ditch off the southbound lane of Kershaw-Camden Highway, north of Landmark Pentecostal Holiness Church. Truesdale removed the car key, investigators said Friday in a news release. After that, Fisher and Truesdale fled on foot before they caught a ride back to Lancaster that afternoon. Authorities found Fisher at his home Sunday afternoon and he was taken into custody. On Tuesday, investigators caught up with Truesdale at his home. MD - On March 30, 2020, at 2 a.m., officers responded to the 2000
block of St. Thomas Drive in Waldorf after a man called and reported
his 13-month-old daughter was
having trouble breathing.When officers and paramedics arrived, the child was unresponsive. She was transported to the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center for treatment. Detectives responded to the hospital to conduct an investigation. As detectives began gathering information, the girl’s father, Robert Earl McKay, III, 29, of Waldorf, assaulted one of the investigators. He was arrested, charged with assault and taken to the detention center. The child was subsequently transported to Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. and admitted in critical condition. Upon examination and other medical testing, detectives learned the toddler sustained trauma consistent with child abuse. Detectives are obtaining additional charges for McKay to include attempted murder, child abuse, first-degree assault, and second-degree assault. In addition, while serving a search warrant at McKay’s residence, detectives found a regulated firearm which he is prohibited from possessing due to a previous felony conviction. The child’s mother was at work when the 911 call came in. Further, no other children reside at the residence. |

her 5-year-old daughter has been sentenced to life in prison.Krystle Concepcion Villanueva, 27, of Kyle, was found guilty Thursday of capital murder in the 2017 slaying of Giovanna Hernandez. She also was convicted of aggravated assault and sentenced to an additional 20 years for stabbing her father-in-law during the incident. Villanueva, who had pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, will not be eligible for parole. On Jan. 5, 2017, authorities responded to Villanueva’s home after her father-in-law reported that he had been stabbed from behind. Villanueva, who was inside the house with the child, later called 911 and admitted to killing the girl after the child had “asked for cereal.” SWAT officers discovered the girl, who had been decapitated and stabbed, dead inside the home. They also found Villanueva, who was naked. |

A woman was raped in the bathroom of a downtown Minneapolis strip
club by a man she had just met briefly that night, according to
authorities.Jose Francisco Aplicano-Ramos, 25, of Chaska, was charged Monday in Hennepin County District Court with third-degree criminal sexual conduct in connection with the encounter shortly after 2 a.m. on Feb. 2 at the Spearmint Rhino Gentlemen’s Club in the 700 block of Hennepin Avenue S. A nationwide warrant has been issued for Aplicano-Ramos’ arrest, with an initial bail set of $100,000. Police met with the woman down the block from the club. She was crying and “appeared very upset,” and her clothes were disheveled. She said that a man she had just met, later identified by police as Aplicano-Ramos, sexually assaulted her in the bathroom. |

from undercover agents.A Georgia man accused of plotting to attack the White House and other landmarks pleaded guilty Wednesday, according to federal prosecutors and court documents. Hasher Jallal Taheb, 23, had been the subject of an undercover investigation that lasted for more than a year and was arrested in January 2019 as he arrived to pick up what he expected to be semi-automatic rifles, explosives and an anti-tank weapon, authorities said. He pleaded guilty to attempting to destroy, by fire or an explosive, a building owned by or leased to the United States, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Georgia said in a statement. Taheb was arrested after he met with undercover agents at a Buford, Georgia, parking lot where the deal for the weapons was supposed to occur, according to a criminal complaint. The rifles, the explosives and the anti-armor weapon, an AT-4, were all inert. As part of a plea agreement, prosecutors agreed to recommend a sentence of 15 years, according to court documents. Sentencing is scheduled for June 23. Taheb wanted to attack the White House and the Statue of Liberty, but later broadened the targets to include the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial and a synagogue, prosecutors said. Investigators believe Taheb was working on his own, an FBI official said at the time of his arrest. The investigation began after a community member sent in a tip in March 2018 that Taheb had become "radicalized" and made plans to travel abroad, according to the complaint. When he was unable to travel abroad because of passport issues, he allegedly began planning an attack in the U.S. |

a woman early Monday morning.Jerald Devon Dennis, 32, has been charged with murder in the death of 23-year-old Emily Ashton Ivey, of Cerro Gordo. According to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a person with a gunshot wound at a residence on Dessie Road. Upon arriving at the scene, they found Ivey deceased from a gunshot wound. Deputies located Dennis hiding in a wooded area near the residence and reportedly found a stolen firearm near the area he was located. Dennis then was taken to the hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound. “Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division executed a search warrant at the Dessie Road residence,” the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post. “Evidence pertaining to the investigation was collected during the search. Dennis was treated and released from the hospital. He was then transported to Columbus County Sheriff’s Office where he was interviewed. with multiple stab wounds after neighbors notified police they were

Police said McClenney and Walton were involved in an “off-and-on” relationship for a long period of time. in federal court in Billings.The two cases, each involving multiple defendants, list a total of 18 female victims allegedly forced or coerced into commercial sex work, although it was not immediately clear whether the two cases shared victims. In one case, William Maurice Newkirk, Djavon Lamont King and Mario Juan Drake are accused of trafficking seven female victims in the Billings area. Newkirk is accused of trafficking one victim between Montana and Wyoming. Three of the alleged victims in the case were younger than 18. Newkirk, 39, and King, 29, have both pleaded not guilty, while Drake has not yet entered a plea.   In

officer ran over him.Birmingham police have arrested Keyton Nicole Sparks. She is 32 and charged with murder in the June 19 death of 40-year-old Jerand Deon Jackson. The bizarre chain of events began about 4 a.m. that Wednesday on Third Avenue North between 10th and 11 Streets. Birmingham police say Jackson was the driver of a Chevrolet Camaro that struck a motorcyclist. After the initial crash, a second car drove up and the people inside that car pulled Jackson out of his vehicle, assaulted him, and left him in the roadway. One of the suspects – now identified as Sparks - jumped in the Camaro and drove off, followed by the second car. Shortly after the suspects fled the scene and left the Camaro driver laying in the roadway, an off-duty Birmingham police officer in his private vehicle was driving down Third Avenue and, without seeing the man in the road, ran over the Camaro driver. Jackson was pronounced dead on the scene. It doesn’t appear that Sparks and Jackson knew each other. |

She had last made contact with her family by telephone the previous Wednesday, March 18. He is facing nearly twenty charges, including drug trafficking, possession of multiple narcotics, discharging a firearm at an occupied dwelling, and possession of a firearm by a felon. stabbed a Polk County Sheriff’s Office
K-9 multiple times in the head and cut a sheriff’s deputy with a
kitchen knife while hiding in a closet following a failed
burglary attempt.According to deputies, Carl McHargh Jr, 31, broke into a home in Lakeland on March 28 around 8:30 p.m by smashing the glass on the front door of a home on Grand Pines Boulevard using a tire lug wrench. Once deputies arrived on scene Deputy Sheriff Scott Cronin and his K-9 partner Vise learned Mchargh Jr. was hiding inside the master bedroom closet refusing to come out. As deputies attempted to get McHargh Jr. to surrender K-9 Vise was sent into the closet to detain him. Once K-9 Vise was inside the closet, McHargh Jr. began to stab the K-9 with a kitchen knife he had grabbed from the victims’ kitchen. Deputy Cronin was able to rip the knife out of McHargh Jr’s hand but was cut in the struggle. After McHargh Jr. was taken into custody he suffered what deputies called a significant medical event suspected to be an excitied delirium from a cocaine-induced state. McHargh Jr. was transported to a local hospital, where he tested positive for cocaine and was intubated. He remains in the ICU in critical condition. K-9 Vise was taken to Parkway Veterinary Emergency Clinic where he underwent surgery for nine stab wounds and an arterial bleed. year has died.Josef Neumann, 72, was injured in a machete attack in Monsey, New York, during a Hanukkah celebration, his daughter Nicky Kohen told CNN Sunday night. He died of his injuries Sunday, Kohen said. Neumann was one of five people assaulted in the attack on December 28 and was the most severely injured, his daughter said. Phoenix police arrested 49-year-old David Garcia Arteaga on Thursday at his home near 16th Street and Thomas Road. On the night of December 31, 2019, Phoenix officers responded to the intersection of 32nd and Washington streets to investigate reports of a two-car collision, according to Phoenix police spokeswoman Mercedes Fortune. Police say the airport shuttle was traveling northbound on 32nd Street when it was struck by Arteaga's truck traveling east on Washington. Witnesses and surveillance video reportedly showed that Arteaga ran the red light at the intersection. The truck's data recorder reportedly showed that the vehicle was going about 60 miles per hour at impact. The driver of the bus, a 39-year-old man, and one passenger, a 74-year-old man, suffered minor injuries. Another passenger, 75-year-old Kathleen Watson, was pronounced dead at a hospital. Watson's family said she was coming back from a 10-day trip to Hawaii when the airport shuttle was hit head-on. incoherent racist and homophobic threats, the feds said Tuesday.
Brooklyn resident Allambergen Kudaybergenov worked at
the restaurant, which wasn’t named in court papers, for roughly two
months in the summer of 2019.He emailed threats through the business’ website while employed there and after he stopped showing up to work, according to the complaint. “Happy new year,” he allegedly wrote to a restaurant employee on Dec. 26. “Soon I kill homosexual dog.” He threatened to “put fire” in all of the restaurant’s locations in Brooklyn and Manhattan. “The era of whites (jews) and negros (sic) are long gone,” he allegedly wrote on Feb. 16. responding to a domestic violence call Sunday night, the
Phoenix Police Department said. The officers were dispatched to a
north Phoenix home after a call about a "dispute between
roommates," police said. The officers entered the home and
spoke with a man who did not cooperate, Sgt. Mercedes Fortune
said. At some point the man opened fire, shooting all three

suspect is behind bars in the blunt force trauma death of a man in
Birmingham last month.Rory Antinio Brownlee, 53, is charged with reckless manslaughter in slaying of 46-year-old Bryan Edward Hooper. Reckless manslaughter is a felony. On Saturday, Feb. 29, North Precinct officers were dispatched to a fight call at Second Avenue North and 13th Street. Officers arrived on the scene to find Hooper unresponsive on the ground. Hooper was taken to UAB Hospital’s Trauma Center where he remained until his death almost a week later. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office said he died from blunt force trauma. According to court records, Brownlee “recklessly caused the death of Hooper by hitting him in the head.” Authorities have not announced any additional details in Hooper’s death. Brownlee, also charged with drug possession, is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on bonds totaling $185,000. He has a court date set for April 20. - (Black-on-White) |

of a woman in the Riverchase Galleria’s North parking deck.Hoover police late Friday afternoon announced the arrest of Aiko Nahsima Deonte Mills. He is charged with first-degree robbery. The holdup happened shortly before 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 13, on the third level of the deck. Joy Geer, a 21-year-old Jefferson State Community College baking and pastry major, was in between appointments so decided to kill some time at the mall. She had just finished reading a text message on her phone and was gathering her belongings together to go inside when she heard, and felt, her driver’s side window glass breaking. “There was a man screaming but I really just saw a gun in my window,’’ she said. The assailant, described by Hoover police as an unknown black male, had busted her window with his gun and was yelling demands at Geer. She handed him her cell phone and he was screaming for her to give him the code. She told him there wasn’t one. “He was getting frustrated,’’ she said. He then asked for more. “I kept telling him I didn’t have anything, but he said, ‘I don’t care. Give me everything you’ve got.’’’ Once the suspect got her wallet, he fled to a waiting vehicle and left the scene. “The glass had cut me across the face and arms. There was piece lodged in my cheek,’’ Geer said. “I know I sat in my car for a second in shock.” “I kept looking around hoping somewhere was there,’’ she said, but she was alone. COUNTY, Ala (WBMA) — A couple were caught having sex in a car
directly outside a police station in Brookside on Friday afternoon,
according to authorities.Brookside police said James Sanders and Paula Garner were caught in the act by a security camera. Brookside police responded and stopped them. Officers said they also smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car. A Brookside K9 was called to the scene and crystal methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, marijuana, and a firearm were found inside the vehicle. Garner was scheduled for court ordered community service to begin earlier that same day, police said. Sanders was her ride. Both were arrested for numerous charges including Possession of Controlled Substance, Drug Paraphernalia, and Indecent Exposure. Sanders was also charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Sanders had additional misdemeanor warrants outstanding from outside agencies. They were walked into the Brookside Jail by arresting officers and their vehicle was impounded. |

Melo sexually assaulted a young girl at multiple locations in Reading, including the suspect's vehicle and a park, between February 1997 and November 2009, according to detectives with the Berks County district attorney's office. The girl was approximately seven or eight years old when the alleged abuse began, detectives said. David Franklin Jr., the so-called Grim Sleeper serial
killer who preyed on Los Angeles women for more than two
decades, died Saturday while on death row at San Quentin prison,
officials said.“Franklin was found unresponsive in his single cell on March 28 at about 7:20 p.m. Medical assistance was rendered and an ambulance was summoned. Franklin was pronounced deceased at 7:43 p.m. His cause of death is pending the results of an autopsy; however, there were no signs of trauma,” prison officials said in a statement. Franklin, 67, was convicted in 2016 of killing nine women and a teenage girl from 1985 to 2007. During the penalty phase of his trial, prosecutors connected him to several additional slayings. Detectives believe he may have killed at least 25 women. The killer, one of California’s most prolific, targeted victims who were generally young, vulnerable and, at times, ignored. He targeted women who were drug addicts or prostitutes and often dumped their naked bodies alongside roads or in the trash. Many of the women were initially listed as Jane Does. The deaths drew little, if any, media attention. 45 years in prison. On September 10, 2016, Kenyatta Cosby,
16 at the time, approached a woman in Hapeville and asked her
for a ride to a nearby store. Officials said when they arrived at
the store, Cosby refused to get out of her car and forced her to
drive to a home along Forrest Hills Drive. Once they arrive, Cosby
forced the victim out of the vehicle, dragged her to the backyard of
the home, punched her in the face and bit her multiple
times. Authorities said Cosby then raped the woman. Neighbors heard cries and called 911. Responding officers caught Cosby in the act and the rape was recorded on body cam video. Cosby was arrested at the scene. This week, he entered a non-negotiated guilty plea and was convicted of rape, kidnapping, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and sexual battery. He was sentenced to 45 years in prison plus life on probation. Authorities said Cosby is also accused of sodomizing a fellow inmate in May 2019 at the Fulton County Jail while awaiting trial. |
