overstaying visa for nearly 20 yearsFederal
immigration authorities in Boston last week arrested a Zimbabwean
national who had allegedly overstayed his visa by 20 years and is charged
with felony rape, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement
(ICE) announced Monday. Alois Mutare, 42, was arrested by ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) as part of a wider crackdown on illegal aliens, illegal reentrants and other immigration violators in the New England area. Mutare, a Zimbabwean citizen, legally entered the U.S. in 1999, but violated the terms of his admission and overstayed his visa by near 20 years, according to a press release from ICE. Boston police arrested Mutare in December 2019 on felony rape charges. Mutare was indicted on those charges earlier this month, ICE said. ICE agents arrested Mutare after he was released from a local criminal court on March 4. Police believe the two were inside a Hyundai Sonata and were stopped at the intersection when unknown suspect(s) in a separate vehicle shot at them, then fled the scene. |

Thursday night during a domestic
dispute inside of a Maple Grove home told authorities
that she shot him because “he hit me.”Stephanie Louise Clark, 29, has been arrested and now stands charged with second-degree murder. On Thursday night police were called to the 6200 block of Magda Drive just after 6 p.m. on a report of a person who was unconscious. They arrived to find one man dead. The victim was identified to WCCO by family members as "Don Juan". He was said to have been in a two-year (we must assume a fornicating sexual) relationship with Clark. Investigators said he had been shot in the head, and there were additional bullet holes in his back. The criminal complaint against Clark says she went to a neighbor’s house following the shooting and said, “He’s dead.” The complaint said she had her son with her 5-year-old son when she went to her neighbor’s house. There was also a half-eaten sandwich on a kid’s plate at the scene of the crime. Investigators have determined that the boy was inside the house when Juan was shot. Clark told authorities she had been hurt in the back as a result of Juan assaulting her, and investigation did reveal bruises on the left side of her back. The complaint goes on to say Clark claimed Juan confronted her about her conversation with a man inside of a store earlier that day, and eventually started punching her. She told police she left to pick up her son and, when she came back, the argument continued. She said she grabbed a revolver and shot him in the chest, she believed seven or eight times. 
She said she then shot him in the head because she “wanted him to stop talking.” |

office manager of a Gainesville law firm was stabbed by an employee
with a fishing knife Friday morning over an accounting
mistake, police allege.Linda Renae Williams, 39, was charged with attempted murder, according to a Gainesville Police Department arrest report. The incident occurred at 7:20 a.m. at Scruggs, Carmichael & Wershow at 1 SE First Ave. Police reported Williams was upset about an accounting mistake that happened Thursday but had no additional details about it. Williams reportedly arrived for work early Friday, waited for her supervisor, opened the door for her, asked to talk, led her to a secluded office and closed the door, the report said. “They spoke for several minutes until (the victim) tried to leave. (Williams) then stabbed (the victim) in the left side of her neck with a fishing knife,” the officer wrote. ”(The victim) fell to the floor screaming for help and tried to kick (Williams) away as she continued to try to stab (the victim).” Other employees intervened, and Williams walked out of the office, dropping the knife and her keys on the sidewalk, police said. An employee pushed away the knife and keys and stayed with Williams until police arrived, the report said. She was taken into custody minutes later. The manager was taken to the emergency room at UF Health Shands Hospital. The knife, which belonged to Williams’ husband, had a skinny blade about 5 inches long. Williams brought it to work Friday morning, the report said. One neck wound was 1- to 1 1/2-inches long. Other defensive wounds were on her hand “She was transported to the hospital. Knoxville man has been taken into custody in connection with a
triple homicide that left three women dead at two different
locations over the weekend.Desmon Paul Rhea, 24, was arrested for revocation of probation Sunday at a Burbury Lane residence, near the scene where two of the three victims were discovered, according to a Knoxville Police Department news release. Charges are pending against Rhea, who is being held without bond, police said. The case will be handed over to the Knox County District Attorney's office. KPD identified the victims at a news conference Monday as Juliana White (also known as Juliana Fraley), 29; White's mother, Mildred Blackwell, 55; and Barbara Rogers, 57, Blackwell’s roommate. “We typically don’t do this a ton, but based on the circumstances of this one — having three deceased in a homicide — we felt it important to get it out and let the community and all of you hear from us," KPD spokesman Scott Erland said. Authorities found White at 4:38 a.m. Sunday, dead in the roadway. She had multiple gunshot wounds to her torso. Soon after, Blackwell and Rogers were found dead from gunshot wounds. “We grieve alongside you and want to say that the grief and dismay was channeled into a concerted effort to identify and apprehend the perpetrator of this unspeakable act,” Erland said. “We only hope that our work brings justice and clarity and ultimately leads to some semblance of closure for those left behind." Rhea was arrested for violation of probation, stemming from a Knox County aggravated assault case in 2018. The victim in that case was the mother of his child. AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -- A suspect has been arrested in a brutal stabbing
that left a Phoenix man dead.Vamba Mamadee Donzo is accused of stabbing Christopher Charles Mihaylo 80 times at the victim's apartment. The police report states that the victim and suspect both lived at the same apartment complex. On Aug. 22, family members of the victim called police to do a welfare check on Mihaylo after he didn't show up to pick up his kids. The family members say they had been unable to reach him all day. When police arrived at the apartment near Seventh Avenue and Bell Road, they found the victim "naked on the floor in a pool of blood" in the master bedroom, according to the police report. Police say the victim had "multiple stab wounds and other signs of trauma on his person." The police report says that the victim "suffered greatly" and calls the stabbing "a brutal and extremely violent homicide." Mihaylo's family said he own a transportation company and was a gentle soul. "God was good enough to me as his father to be very involved in his life over the last 60 days," his father said. "He was a great son and I loved him. I’m going to miss him.” Police say bloody footprints were found in multiple rooms of the apartment, and a blood-stained shirt was found hanging from a light fixture in the dining room. The master bedroom, where the victim was found, appeared to have been ransacked. Police say they recovered DNA evidence from the apartment, as well as a bloody knife and a used condom. "The evidence would indicate that the suspect may have had sexual intercourse with the victim," stated the police report.  Mihaylo's
vehicle, a 2019 Chevy Suburban, was also missing from the parking
lot. Using the OnStar system, officers were able to locate the
Suburban in Peoria. Inside the vehicle, they found a number of items
linking it to Donzo, including Donzo's social security card and
a handgun.Police were able to track down Donzo in Tucson, where he was taken into custody. But police say he did not go easily. According to Sgt. Tommy Thompson with the Phoenix Police Department, as Donzo was being taken into custody, he began kicking the window of the vehicle in which he was being transported. The door was opened so that officers could secure him better. At that time, police say Dozno was able to get out the vehicle and fight with the officers. While doing so, police say Donzo bit several officers. Thursday with the homicides of two Northwest High School graduates,
according to a statement from Virginia State Police (VSP).Mohamed Aly, 18, is a student at T.C. Aly was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. The two victims, Ayanna Munne Maertens Griffin, 19, and Ntombo Joel Bianda, 21, suffered gunshot wounds, said VSP. Aly is being held in a Halifax County, Va. jail. On Feb. 8 at 2:51 a.m., VSP responded to a single-vehicle crash in Halifax County near the North Carolina border, according to a statement from police. The bodies of Maertens Griffin and Bianda were found near Bianda’s car, which had run off the road and into a median. Police said they were investigating the deaths as homicides and not as the result of a car accident, but did not state the victims’ causes of death until yesterday. Maertens Griffin and Bianda lived in Alexandria and were dating for about one year. They met as students at Northwest High School in Germantown.

man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing two men, killing one of
them, after they opened a subway gate for him in the Bronx.The fatal assault happened around 4:30 a.m. Saturday at the Morrison Ave.-Soundview Station. A police spokesperson said that they found two men with stab wounds to the torso near the mezzanine area of the southbound 6 line. One of those men, 25-year-old Rudolph Dunning, was transported to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The other, whose name has not been released, was taken to NYC Health & Hospitals/Jacobi in stable condition. Investigators believe Ramziddin Trowell, 42, had asked the two men to open the subway gate for him; afterwards, they got into some sort of argument that culminated in the stabbing. Trowell has now been arrested and charged with murder, attempted murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon. |

prison.Circuit Judge David L. Vincent III sentenced Kavion L. Thomas, 30, to consecutive life terms (calculated at 30 years each) in the rape and death of 61-year-old Patti Ann Harvill. Harvill’s bruised and bloodied body was found by her sister on April 25, 2012, in a hallway of Harvill’s home. Her purse had been dumped out on the floor but no valuables taken. Authorities said a basement window appeared to have been shattered from the inside but was not evidence of a break-in. A jury earlier found Thomas guilty of second-degree murder and rape but acquitted him of sodomy. Thomas had lived in Harvill’s neighborhood at the time of her death. “Why did this monster choose her?” Victoria McNamee said in court. “Every time I close my eyes, I see my sister’s lifeless body.” Thomas moved to Kentucky in 2012. men are facing a variety of charges following an armed home invasion
in Cass County this week. The Cass County Sheriff’s Department says
it was called just before midnight on Tuesday about the robbery in
the 63,000 block of Day Lake Road in Calvin Township. Arriving
deputies were told a 24-year-old woman had been home alone when
three or four men broke in and demanded money. The men forced their
way into a back bedroom where a dog had been shut up, and they
shot the dog, killing it. The suspects then left in a silver
Toyota Prius with an undisclosed amount of cash. Not long after,
police got a call about some men getting out of a silver Prius and
into a red Toyota Camry in a secluded area along Brownsville Road
about four miles away. The Camry was later found parked in
Cassopolis, and that’s where the two suspects were arrested. They’re
a 19-year-old Columbus, Ohio man, and a 21-year-old Elkhart, Indiana
man. They’re now charged with home invasion, armed robbery, killing
or torturing an animal, larceny from a building, assault with a
dangerous weapon, and felony firearm. The investigation into the
armed robbery continues, and police ask anyone with information to
contact them. The two suspects have been arraigned with bond set at

7-Eleven Friday night to remember a beloved clerk and young father
who was killed last week. Waqar “Vic” Tarveer, 28, was killed while working the job he recently took in order to take care of his little girl. “He had a good soul,” Maomar said. “He had a good heart. He just wants to talk to customers, he didn’t care if he finished his job or not.” But last Friday, one of those customers found Tarveer fighting for his final moments of live inside of the convenience store. He had been fatally shot, and his killers got away. Using an abundance of surveillance video and getting some help from the public, three people have been arrested and charged in Tarveer’s death. Detectives said 30-year-old John Lamont Bush shot and killed Tarveer, bringing the night’s robbery spree to a tragic end. He was arrested Tuesday in Los Angeles. Roderick Lamar Grandison, 47, was taken into custody in Compton. Police said he was the passenger in the getaway car and also committed at least one of the other two armed robberies. The final suspect, 33-year-old Marleiya Barnes, was taken into custody in Los Angeles. Police believe she was the driver of the vehicle, and helped the men get away in all three crimes. |

Del. (CBS) — Wilmington police announced the arrest of 51-year-old Orrin
Daniels on Friday afternoon in connection to a police-involved
shooting. Daniels was shot after police say he allegedly tried to
hit officers with his car. The incident began when officers
responded to a domestic dispute just after 6 p.m. Officers
say Daniels was trying to leave the scene when he rammed his
vehicle into a police car and struck a second vehicle. Two
officers opened fire when the Daniels allegedly sped the car up
onto a sidewalk where police officers were standing. Police
say he kept driving, but was found and arrested a short time later.
He was taken to the hospital for his gunshot wounds and is listed in
stable condition. Daniels is facing three counts of attempted murder

I didn’t do that to her.” Defense attorneys said Talley, a Navy veteran, suffered from brain damage and the effects of drug addiction. He was drunk and high at the time of the attack, they said. At his trial earlier this year, Talley’s attorneys argued that sex between him and Kazoon was consensual. Prosecutors said Kazoon probably was dragged down a hallway of the apartment as she died bleeding, her fingernails scratching the carpet. Pictures from crime scene investigators showed blood-spattered walls, a blood-covered countertop and bloody handprints on the floor. Kazoon suffered from multiple injuries, including a fractured jaw, a brain bleed, lacerations in her mouth and contusions in her throat. The judge ordered Talley to serve 30 years to life in prison. “Your complete inability to accept any responsibility for what was done to that woman is a scary thing,” Herndon said. “It’s a scary thing.” Kazoon’s husband died in early 2016 after a battle with
cancer, and she later walked away from the east Las Vegas home she
had shared with him near Nellis Boulevard and Desert Inn Road,
family members told the Las Vegas Review-Journal at the time of

and Medical Center, where she died from injuries caused by

arrest report released Wednesday.At first, police responded to the Strip hotel about a possible victim of a violent attack, but 28-year-old housekeeper Aviaon Lee became a suspect within hours of the initial call on the morning of Feb. 5. As police and Clark County firefighters responded to the fire, which shut down parts of the Excalibur and led to evacuations, police said they noticed the crime scene looked planned, as if whatever occurred in the room was carried out by one person, the Metropolitan Police Department report indicates. The day after the fire, Las Vegas police were at Lee’s apartment serving a search warrant. A detective found a workers’ compensation form with Lee’s name on it, police said. After the man refused the order, Byrd and the man fought. During the struggle, the man was shot. The man ran into the woods after being shot. He is still in the hospital. Officials said Byrd drove the woman to a motel in Orangeburg where she was sexually assaulted. Byrd told the woman to leave the room and go to a nearby fast food restaurant. |

(WTVG) - Toledo Police say the deadly attack of a woman at a Toledo
gas station is random. The violence happened around 10 p.m.
Saturday at the BP at the corner of Douglas and Monroe streets.
Bystanders are credited with holding the suspect, Thomas Smith,
until police arrived.Investigators say Danialle Swan was getting gas with her fiance. She was approached by the suspect as she was returning to the car from the convenience store. Moments later, Smith attacked stabbing the woman repeatedly. That’s when witnesses jumped in. In a video obtained by 13abc, bystanders can be seen taking down the alleged stabbing suspect, right after the crime. A witness is heard asking the suspect, “You stab that girl?” Police are giving kudos to the bystanders who put their lives on the line for justice. “It’s not something that we would encourage, however, we are eternally grateful to this witness who tackled the suspect and waited for police to arrive. It's unknown if he would've been captured had he not done that,” says Lt. Kellie Lenhardt. Detectives believe this attack was random. “This random attack is very rare. Usually victims and suspects know each other, whether it be from an ongoing feud or a past relationship,” says Lenhardt. Swan, 28, died at a local hospital and leaves behind three children. As for the suspect, Smith is charged with murder. In fact, it's not the only violent crime he's facing. Smith was arrested for assault on February 21 for punching and kicking someone. He appeared in court and was released on an OR bond just five days before allegedly attacking again. Today, he faced a judge for the murder charge. The business was likely targeted because it deals with cash, police said. An arrest was made in the case early Wednesday morning, but police did not provide any names. “We have some very good news,” police said, announcing an arrest in the case. Conner, who police say has a criminal history, was taken into custody in Countryside Drive early Wednesday. Conner faces charges of murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, first-degree kidnapping and possession of a firearm by felon. “We are still looking for a second suspect," police said. Conner was released from prison in September after being charged in a home invasion and shooting. “We are finally getting some peace of mind!! night in Savage has died, the Savage Police Department said in a
news release. The teen, who has yet to be identified, was found
lying in a Target parking lot Friday evening. Officers were called to the 14000 block of State Highway 13 around 7:30 p.m. on a report of someone lying in the northwest corner of the parking lot. When officers arrived, they saw the teen bleeding from the head. He was semi-conscious and breathing. He was rushed to Hennepin County Medical Center, and he died from his injuries on Saturday, police said. On Tuesday, three arrests were made in connection with the shooting. Taran Cortez Miller, 44, of Prior Lake has been arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder; Tanya Marie Esthell Miller, 43, of Prior Lake, was arrested on suspicion of aiding an offender and second-degree murder; and an unnamed 16-year-old from Prior Lake was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder. attacking an employee. “We were just shocked because over a
sandwich? I don’t know why she had to end up doing that,”
Analiza Alandy, the wife of Philly Cheese Steaks owner Luis Addison
Alandy, said.The incident happened at a restaurant along the 1600 block of East Hammer Lane. Stockton police say the woman walked into the eatery a little after 7:30 p.m. Monday and started arguing with an employee over the quality of a sandwich she had bought. “Our policy is if you have a complaint like if we made a mistake, either way, we will gladly replace it. But, we need the sandwich back to replace the whole sandwich,” Alandy said. Luis Addison Alandy told CBS13 that the customer stated that the sandwiches she ordered weren’t fresh and demanded a full refund. “The two sandwiches are already eaten in half of each and the fries already half of each,” Alandy said. “When we said no after a while [of] going back and forth they just lashed out,” Robert Hernandez, an employee, said. At some point during the argument, the woman allegedly picked up a glass tip jar and threw it at the employee. She is also accused of hitting the employee with a wooden broom. “That’s our first time. It really scared us,” Alandy said. “I froze like a deer in the headlights,” Hernandez said. The woman eventually left, but officers later arrested her at her home. “Overall I just didn’t want anyone to get hurt,” Hernandez said. Police have identified the woman as 44-year-old Monique Collins. Collins is now facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon. |

crash on Thursday night.According to an affidavit, Hesler Munguia was driving a 2013 GMC Sierra on Covington Pike when he hit 2017 Honda Accord. Investigators say Munguia disregarded the red light at the intersection of Covington Pike and I-40, causing him to crash into the other vehicle as it was turning. Police say two people were occupying the Honda Accord at the time of the crash. Jordan Durham was driving and was critically injured. Scott Pugh was in the front passenger seat and was fatally injured. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Munguia exited his vehicle and fled the scene on foot, according to witnesses. One witness chased after Munguia, caught him and detained him until police arrived. Once officers made the scene, they detected the odor of alcohol on Mungia and his eyes were bloodshot. He also did not have a valid driver’s license or car insurance. Munguia admitted to drinking a large quantity of alcohol prior to the crash. His charges include vehicular homicide, driving under the influence, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, vehicular assault, and disregarding a traffic signal. |

CBP officers apprehended Sanchez Arenales, 19, of New York City, at 5 p.m. Saturday as he attempted to flee the United States. Sanchez Arenales is a suspect in the February 12 shooting death of social worker Purcell Gowie in East Harlem, N.Y. |

'prank'
A dog poop prank among friends nearly turned deadly after a driver,
enraged by damage to his car, struck an innocent group of
pedestrians in California. Police in Burlingame said they responded
to Howard Avenue and Clarendon Road around 5:20 p.m. Saturday after
an SUV reportedly crashed into
four teenagers on the sidewalk. Two of the teens were seriously
hurt, and two others suffered moderate injuries. The
driver, 18-year-old Omeed Adibi,
of San Mateo, was arrested.Lt. Laura Terada told the newspaper that Adibi, targeted the teenagers after allegedly believing they had tampered with his car. She said he wanted to get back at them. However, the investigation later showed that it was a group of his own friends who had placed dog poop in his car as a prank on him, KPIX reported. |
