people have been arrested in the slaying of a Denham Springs man who
was found shot inside a car on Saturday. Ronald Irvin, 51, was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on first-degree murder and armed robbery. Felisha Smith, 38, was booked on principal to first-degree murder and armed robbery. Police found Charles Arnold, 29, of 11370 Dubois Lane, Denham Springs, suffering from a gunshot wound inside a car in the 2100 block of North Sherwood Forest on Saturday afternoon. mother in Johnston County armed robbery, 1 at large  JOHNSTON
COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- Deputies arrested two men Thursday believed
to be involved in the shooting of a man who died while protecting
his mother at a gas station.A week after the incident, officials said Bobby Mclean Jr. turned himself in at the Johnston County Sheriff's Office. Mclean was charged with murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony conspiracy and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Mclean is being held in the Johnston County Jail under no bond. One of the suspects, Manuel Patterson, was in jail on a robbery charge when he was charged with murder and robbery at the Scotchman. Investigators are now searching for John Pettiway III The shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. on November 14, at a Scotchman gas station near the intersection of NC Highway 210 and Interstate 40. Robbers shot and killed 23-year-old Joseph Bowling, who reportedly stepped in front of a gun aimed at his mother, who worked at the store. While bleeding, Bowling chased the robbers out of the store and then collapsed. Bowling's stepfather said Bowling's mother held him when he took his last breath. - (Black-on-white) |

happened late last month as the teens were walking to the El in

The victims suffered a broken nose and a concussion. “It’s so hard for me to process because I just don’t understand,” victim Abigail Croge said. “There was not a reason.” Two 16-year-old girls were attacked on their way home from school and it was all caught on camera. former Uber driver has been convicted of raping a female passenger
at a motel in North Hollywood, the Los Angeles County District
Attorney’s Office announced Thursday.After two days of deliberations, jurors found 49-year-old Alaric Spence of guilty of one count of rape of an intoxicated woman. Spence was working as an Uber driver June 23, 2017, when he picked up the 24-year-old woman in downtown L.A. He proceeded to drive her to a motel on Lankershim Boulevard where he raped her. After the victim woke up in the motel room and did not recognize her surroundings, she immediately called the Los Angeles Police. |

been charged with capital murder.A bloody knife found when a stolen car was pulled over south of Waco could help authorities solve a grisly mystery in Plano where a man and woman in their 70s were found dead in their apartment. If not for that traffic stop, McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara said, the two women who were arrested “may be long gone.” Cynthia Alixandra Wingate, 29, and Carmen Abigail Moreno, 23, face charges of capital murder in the deaths of 71-year-old Theresa Ann Coomes and 72-year-old Jimmy Michael Farris. The victims were found late Sunday in the 2300 block of Pebble Vale Drive in Plano, more than 130 miles from the traffic stop that led to their discovery. The knife was one of a pair of blades found, along with the victims’ debit and credit cards, when McLennan County deputies stopped a woman in a stolen Dodge sedan — and the driver of a Toyota Corolla registered to one of the victims stopped of her own accord. Wingate and Moreno originally had been charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, among other counts. The charges were upgraded to murder Wednesday. |

(CBS SF) — Two armed gang members were among the five people killed
during a mass shooting that may have erupted during an altercation
between rival gangs inside an Orinda rental home on Halloween night,
authorities announced Friday.Contra Costa Sheriff David Livingston said both Ramon Hill Jr. and Javin County were armed when they were fatally shot in a hail of gunfire. Hill was associated with San Francisco’s Paige Street Gang while County was associated with the Marin City Jungle Gang. “We still are identifying specific motives, but I can tell you that there were rival gangs involved in the altercation inside the home,” Livingston said. “We are told by witnesses that there was also an attempt to steal property from one person to another which may have precipitated the initial round of shootings. We haven’t nailed down the exact motive yet.” Livingston said when he went into home the night of the shooting, the scene was horrific. “I went into the scene personally,” he told reporters at the Friday afternoon news conference. “In my 32 years of law enforcement, I have never seen a homicide scene like this ever. It was a bloodbath inside the home.” He said spent shell casings were littered across the home. |

(ALEXANDRIA, Va.) — A former CIA case agent was sentenced Friday to
19 years in prison for an espionage conspiracy with China.Fifty-five-year-old Jerry Chun Shing Lee was sentenced in federal court in Alexandria after his guilty plea earlier this year. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit espionage, but prosecutors and defense lawyers disagreed about the extent of the crime. Prosecutors say Chinese intelligence officers gave Lee more than $840,000 and that Lee likely gave them all the information he had from a 13-year career as a CIA case officer. They sought a prison term of more than 20 years. The sentence was significantly longer than the 10-years sought by defense attorneys. |

Fla. – Robert Hayes was indicted in serial killings that
began in Daytona Beach, Florida, nearly 14 years ago.State Attorney R.J. Larizza said Thursday that Hayes will be tried in a death penalty case in the killings of Laquetta Gunther, Julie Green and Iwana Patton who were all shot to death and left in the middle of Daytona Beach in late 2005 and early 2006. Hayes, 37, of West Palm Beach, is suspected in the killing of a woman in South Florida. He remains jailed there. Larizza said a survivor of a Hayes attack came forward and is talking to police. Hayes was a criminal justice student and a cheerleader at Bethune-Cookman University when three women were slain in Daytona Beach. DNA found on the South Florida victim, Rachel Bey, 32, killed three years ago, matched DNA recovered on two of the Daytona Beach victims, police said. Hayes was indicted by a grand jury in Palm Beach County on Oct. 3 on charges of first-degree murder and sexual battery with great force, according to court records. Hayes pleaded not guilty. Hayes’ DNA was found on Gunther, 45, a prostitute shot in the head in Daytona Beach. Her body was discovered on Christmas Eve 2005 in a kneeling position between two buildings, investigators said. DNA from Hayes was also found on Green, 34, another Daytona Beach prostitute who was found dead in a ditch near a construction site Jan. 14, 2006. She was also shot in the head, according to police. Police said Green, a mother of four, had left her home to use a pay phone and never returned. On Feb. 24, 2006, Patton’s body was discovered in a desolate area. Patton, 35, worked as a nurse’s aide. There are no charges in the case of Stacey Gage, 30, whose decomposed body was found on Jan. 2, 2008, but investigators said her death was similar to the deaths of Gunther, Green and Patton. - (Black-on-white) |

have fled to the Dominican Republic.Alfredo Esmerli Peguero-Gomez, whose car was found at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey, is being sought in the death of Janet Avalo-Alvarez, with whom he co-owned a bar with in Waterbury, Conn. The 26-year-old's body was found earlier this week in nearby Wolcott. She was last seen at that establishment on Nov. 12. "The family is going through a lot of pain and they don’t deserve [the] pain they are going through," Grisella Guerrero, who identified herself as a family friend, said in an interview with WFSB. Police have called the death “suspicious” and told WFSB they believe Avalo-Alvarez died from neck compression. She was found strangled to death a few feet from the road. Waterbury Police Chief Fernando Spagnolo says Peguero-Gomez has family in the Dominican Republic, but it’s unclear if he flew there. |

Kan. (KAKE) - A 58-year-old convicted child rapist has been charged
with kidnapping and raping a 15-year-old
girl who was walking to her Wichita home earlier this week. Anthony Seymour was charged Thursday with aggravated kidnapping, rape, aggravated criminal sodomy, aggravated robbery and criminal possession of a weapon. He remains held on $250,000 bond. Police allege the girl was walking near 2nd Street North and Grove on Monday when Seymour held a knife to her, forced the teen into his black 2005 Lexus and sexually assaulted her. When officers responded to an abduction report at around 6:20 p.m., Seymour's car was leaving the area. The teen got out and ran toward officers. Police say Seymour fled the area but was later located and arrested. Seymour's next court appearance was scheduled for December 5. He will be represented by a public defender. Kansas offender records show Seymour is on parole for a 2004 conviction of rape of a 14-year-old girl. He was last released from prison in May of 2018. |

Sex Offender Charged In Murder Of US Army Vet Found Wrapped In
Trunk Of Abandoned Car
 ANAHEIM
(CBSLA) — A convicted sex offender was charged Wednesday in the
killing of a man whose body was found wrapped in a tarp inside the
trunk of an abandoned Lexus in Anaheim. According to police, another
kidnapping victim was also found inside the suspect’s home when
they arrested him.Antonio Silva Lopez, 27, was charged with murder, along with a felony count of kidnapping for ransom-extortion or to commit robbery or a sex crime, according to court records. Lopez is accused of killing 34-year-old Adrian Darren Bonar of Escondido whose body was found on Oct. 4 inside the trunk of the abandoned vehicle after a tow truck driver was sent to retrieve it. The tow truck driver believed the car — a 2007 Lexus — was suspicious and alerted California Highway Patrol, who then alerted the Anaheim Police Department. Friends said Bonar served in the Army and was deployed to Iraq. According to police, he was known to frequent motels in Los Angeles and North San Diego Counties. Bonar’s father said he had no comment on the investigation, but that he wants everyone to know that his family has established Adrian Bonar Foundation with the goal of helping those suffering from PTSD and drug addiction. Police said that when they arrested Lopez on Monday, he was allegedly holding another man for ransom, prompting the kidnapping charge against him. Police said drugs and weapons were also found inside the home. According to court records, Lopez pleaded guilty in October 2014 to statutory rape of a 12-year-old female relative in Santa Ana and was sentenced to a year in jail. |

series of new graffiti markings were discovered on school
grounds, authorities said Thursday.The announcement came hours after Syracuse Chancellor Ken Syverud agreed to the demands of students protesting the university's handling of a two-week run of almost daily racist, anti-Semitic incidents that have prompted tension on the campus 250 miles north of New York City. Kym McGowan, 18, was arrested on charges of fourth-degree criminal mischief and marking graffiti, both misdemeanors, police said. She was released on an appearance ticket. City police said McGowan was connected to four incidents of graffiti in and around a garage and the school's library. That graffiti, however, appeared to be supporting the anti-racism protests on the campus. It was not immediately clear whether the arrest was related to any of the prior incidents. Earlier Thursday, Syverud relented after a campus forum Wednesday night devolved into an angry walkout when Syverud balked at signing off on the 19 demands. Van Vaultz, 64, is charged with the June 9, 1986, asphyxiation killing of 22-year-old Mary Duggan in the San Fernando Valley and the July 16, 1981, strangulation of Selena Keough, a 20-year-old mother who was killed in San Bernardino County and dumped under bushes in Montclair. — South End homeless man Robert Simmons, 51, has been
arrested in the home invasion and murder of 93-year-old
Isabella Mehner in her Cove Road home in late
September. Simmons was charged with murder, felony murder and home
invasion. He is being held on a $2,000,000 bond.On Sept. 25, at about 8 p.m., police responded to 565 Cove Road for a deceased elderly female who appeared to have fallen down a staircase. Through further investigation and with the assistance of the Office of Chief Medical Examiner it was determined that the injuries sustained by Mehner were not consistent with a fall down the stairs and her death was classified as a homicide. Police also noted that there some personal items of Mehner’s that went missing from the home located on the corner of Cove Road and Willowbrook Avenue. Police say they found video of Simmons in the area on the day Mehner was killed and used DNA analysis to match a spot of blood found on his pants to Mehner. BART ride on Tuesday afternoon turned deadly for a passenger who was
brutally stabbed on the moving train as he stopped a thief from
stealing another passenger’s shoes, police and sources said.The Good Samaritan was killed with his own knife, which was taken from him during a struggle with the assailant, who had boarded the train shoeless and tried to take the shoes off of a passenger who had been sleeping, police and sources said. BART police described the fatal attack on the Warm Springs-bound train as a fight between two men, but BART spokesman Chris Filippi later revealed that the confrontation was sparked by the attempted theft. A source close to the investigation told The Chronicle that three people were involved in the incident and the man who intervened was killed. Several sources described the attack, which was recorded on the train’s surveillance video, as especially brutal and bloody, and it was witnessed by several passengers. The incident occurred just before 1 p.m. as the train pulled into South Hayward Station, police said. The suspect fled and was apprehended about a block from the station after he allegedly tried to steal a car at a dealership and grappled with an employee on a busy street. Police did not identify the suspect, but public records show that Jermaine Brim, 39, of San Francisco, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder and carjacking in Hayward at 2:30 p.m. and booked into Alameda County jail at 10:08 p.m. |

Vietnam veteran in Norristown has been arrested. Norristown police
announced the arrest of 31-year-old Nemias Perez Severiano
on Wednesday in connection to the death of 69-year-old Samuel
Jackson.Severiano is charged with accidents involving death as well as counts relating to allegations that he did not even have a license. Court records show that prior to fatally striking Jackson, Serviano was at a local bar for five hours. Serviano’s arrest papers allege, “While at the bar [Severiano] indicated he consumed seven to eight (MEXICAN) Modelo beers. He informed the detectives that when he left the bar, he was ‘a little drunk.’ The fatal hit-and-run happened just before 6:30 p.m. Sunday at West Oak and Astor Streets, when Jackson had just gotten out of his car in front of his home. criminally exposed HIV to others. An affidavit obtained by WTVC says
on Friday, police responded to a disorder at Sylvan Drive around
7:15 a.m.When police got there, they met the suspect, Chester Bennett and his girlfriend. According to the report, Bennett's girlfriend told police he had left the night before after getting into an argument with the woman. Bennett came back that morning, but the woman would not let him inside. His girlfriend told police she found out on Wednesday that Bennett had HIV. She told police that Bennett did not tell her this, and they had been intimate on 38 separate occasions since Aug. 16. According to the report, his girlfriend found this out after viewing findings from his previous court case. The affidavit says Bennett confirmed to police he had previously pleaded guilty to criminal exposure to HIV with a different victim. Stolen firearm: Bennett's girlfriend then told police he had a firearm in a safe at home. Police say they took the weapon out of the house, which they say was stolen. authorities said. Carl Hellinger, 36, died at the scene in what does not appear to be a random shooting, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said. A man who had recently been fired, 25-year-old Camilo Santiago-Santiago, was arrested later Friday morning. He faces charges of murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm. It wasn’t clear if Santiago had an attorney yet. There were about 20 employees inside the business, 28220 SW Boberg Road, at the time of the shooting – around 8:30 a.m. – but no one else was injured. Santiago, fled the scene and drove into Woodburn, where his car was spotted by a Marion County deputy. The deputy began chasing Santiago’s red car, as did Clackamas County deputies and Wilsonville police. It ended on a dead-end street at Woodland Avenue at Senecal Creek Drive, officials said. That’s when Santiago barricaded himself inside his car. For about 40 minutes during the standoff, Santiago yelled at officers to shoot him, officials said. But around 9:30 a.m. he got out of the car with his hands up and was immediately taken into custody. "He started heading toward the car and he went over to the car, so I hit him and pushed him trying to get him away from the car," said Broad. "I kind of heard the scuffle and then I turned around and I saw that they were fighting and the next thing I see is John going down," Joanne Broad said. Joanne, John's wife, says Beck then jumped into the car while she was still inside. Bystanders shouted for her to take the keys out of the ignition. "He tried to start the car and then John came back to the car to try to get him out of the car," said Joanne. "I got out of the other side of well, he started hitting on me and then I got out of the car." Broad and Beck began brawling a third time before the young man eventually gave up. "When he got out of the car he sort of stood there for a while, sort of dazed, not knowing where to go," Joanne said. "And then he very slowly started walking out of the gas station and then he started running." He could not run fast or far enough. Court documents say that Reese and Young were in the area of 38th and Baltimore when they approached the victim and another man sitting on their front porch and demanded money. According to a criminal complaint, Jordan shot the pitbull-Labrador mix with a shotgun last Friday amidst an argument with his girlfriend over finances in a home in Orion Township. The woman told investigators that the two were in a physical struggle over his debit card when the dog came over and started nipping at them. After the dog nipped Jordan on the ankle, the 31-year-old fetched a shotgun and found the dog under the kitchen table, cowering. Berhow, an experienced gunman, had first killed two classmates — 14-year-old Dominic Blackwell and 15-year-old Gracie Anne Muehlberger — and injured three others before firing his last bullet into his head and dropping his empty gun, police said. All six shootings happened in under a minute, authorities said. Authorities recovered several firearms from the suspect’s home, as well as six firearms that were registered to the shooter’s late father, identified as Mark Berhow. |
