Remains found in a Third Ward manhole have been identified as those
of 37-year-old Brittany
Burfield who has been missing since last year.Alex Haggerty, the (black) man who is charged with murder in connection with Burfield's disappearance, led authorities to the missing woman's remains Friday, according to community activist Quanell X. Houston police said Burfield's remains were found in a manhole in the 3100 block of Hadley Street. Quanell X said he had a conversation with Haggerty, 38, on Friday morning. During that conversation, Quanell X said Haggerty admitted to killing Burfield and putting her body in a manhole in the Third Ward. On Wednesday, Houston police confirmed the remains were those of Burfield. Burfield's clothes were found with her body. Authorities said Haggerty told multiple family members and friends that he drugged, stabbed and shot Burfield. Investigators said Burfield was trying to help Haggerty get his life back on track. She gave him and his girlfriend a place to stay for a little while. Haggerty used Burfield's phone to call his parole officer after she was reported missing, investigators said. Haggerty denied the claims. At the time he was charged with murder, Haggerty was on parole after serving 15 years in prison for a robbery charge. He was released in 2017. - (Black-on-white) |

Authorities say they took DNA evidence from the fetus after the girl had an abortion and it proved Singleton was the father. The 14th Circuit Solicitor's Office said in a news release that Singleton came into a room while she was watching cartoons in a home in Estill in April 2016, turned off the lights and raped her. Prosecutors said jurors deliberated less than an hour Wednesday before finding Singleton guilty. Circuit Judge Carmen Mullen then handed down the life sentence without parole. |

Man arrested at Southfield motel for allegedly trying to sex

Mich. — Police found a
14-year-old girl who ran away from home inside
a Southfield motel and arrested a 31-year-old man they say was
trying to convince her to work as a prostitute.Orodell Walker Jr. is accused of trafficking the girl out of the EZ Rest Motel in Southfield. He was arrested last month and charged with production of child pornography and possession of child pornography. Police rescued the girl after she told someone on Facebook Messenger that she was being held against her will. According to a criminal complaint, the girl told police she left her Ypsilanti home on June 27 and ended up in a bar, where she met Walker’s brother, who then took her to a Detroit motel. Walker’s brother, known as Brandon in the criminal complaint, allegedly sold the her to Walker. Police said Walker took the girl to the Southfield motel, where they had intercourse and he took nude videos and photos of the girl committing sex acts. |

(WCCO) – A 32-year-old man is accused of punching an off-duty St.
Paul police officer in the face and biting another officer on the
arm after being confronted for trying to shoplift from a gas station
over the weekend. Julius Haddison-Fondanui Tasha, of Minneapolis, is charged with two felony counts of assaulting a peace officer, court documents filed in Ramsey County show. If convicted, he faces up to three years in prison for each count. According to a criminal complaint, Tasha attempted to steal several items early Saturday morning from the Speedway on Seventh Street East in St. Paul. An off-duty police officer working there approached Tasha, who returned some of the items but not the food that he’d heated up. When the officer told him to put down the food, he punched her three to four times in the face, a gas station employee told investigators. The off-duty officer chased Tasha out of the gas station, where the two wrestled on the ground before Tasha broke free and ran off. The off-duty officer called for help. Responding officers found Tasha a few blocks away, waving his arms and sweating profusely. After trying to hide under a tree, he swung a punch at one officer’s head, but the officer dodged the blow. During the arrest, in which Tasha struggled against officers, he bit one officer on the forearm. |

fatally stabbed two people in an attack Tuesday morning. Mario
Markworth, 22, has been charged with two counts each of
second-degree murder and armed criminal action.Officers were called to a parking lot in the 5700 block of Winner Road at 6 a.m. Tuesday to assist with an ambulance call when two deceased victims were found. The victims were later identified as 56-year-old Michael F. McLin & 52-year-old Kevin E. Waters. Prosecutors said Markworth was being held on a bond of $250,000. |

Texas — A little dog had a big role in the arrest of a robbery
suspect in Lufkin on Wednesday, according to police. The 3-year-old
Yorkie/Schnauzer mix named Cooper led officers right to
where Christopher Huitt, 36, was hiding.Wednesday morning, police say they received a call about a robbery that happened behind an H-E-B store. The victim told police she was pushed to the ground by two men who took $60 from her before running away. When officers got to the scene, they started searching the area and noticed Cooper nearby. The pup was near a wooded area, wagging his tail and attempting to enter the thick brush. “We could tell from the dog’s behavior that someone was in there,” one officer said. “Without that dog’s help, we never would have found the suspect.” Huitt was arrested soon after and was identified as one of the robbers by the victim. Officers are now looking for the other suspect involved. Before being taken to jail, Huitt told officers Cooper is his neighbor’s dog and followed him when he left their neighborhood on foot earlier that morning. "Cooper was returned to his owner who got the quite a kick out of his escapades." the department said. Police said this is the second time in less than a week that Huitt has been arrested for robbery. On Friday, he allegedly stole a purse from a woman near First Baptist Church and fled on foot. Officers found him and took him into custody. That victim’s money was recovered and returned to her. During his Friday arrest, he was also found in possession of a laptop and a digital camera reported stolen earlier that morning from Denum Moving Company. |

robbery spree along Eubank. He was caught on camera trying to shoot
a business owner. The gun malfunctioned, but that didn’t stop him.It all started at an autobody shop on Eubank near I-40. That’s where the robber got his hands on a gun. Word quickly spread that a man was trying to rob businesses on Eubank. Their surveillance captured pictures of the suspect who got into a scuffle with one of the owners, somehow getting his gun. They say he then tried firing multiple times, but the gun wouldn’t fire. When he made his way to the Wing Stop shopping center, Cordova says he kept customers away from the suspect robbing the insurance business. “He was on foot actually, and the only reason why he stopped is because he turned to point the gun at me and tripped over the gravel, dropped his gun and I was able to kick it,” he said. |

Lewis' parents maintain that officers acted “unnecessarily and unjustly" when they shot their son back in April. Lewis allegedly attacked the two officers, who ineffectively tazed him, causing them to fire their handgun. “Edmond also admits that Isaiah Mark Lewis was naked and unarmed when he was shot and that verbal commands were given to Isaiah Mark Lewis prior to the shooting,” Clark wrote. Autopsy reports determined Lewis sustained four gunshot wounds to his face, thighs and groin. Toxicology tests detected a common antihistamine called diphenhydramine and THC, the active ingredient of marijuana, in his system. |

On the Wednesday before the stabbing, Guajardo was arrested for and charged with assault of a family member after police said Caitlynne Guajardo told them he hit her in the face. Police said they initially showed up at the Guajardos apartment after Caitlynne Guajardo called them around 6:30 a.m. after finding the family's pet cat dead in a kennel. The cat was in a bag of liquid, police said. Caitlynne Guajardo told police that Alex Guajardo admitted to killing the cat. He was released from jail a day later after posting bond, according to authorities. |

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The man charged with starting a fire in a
Walmart parking lot in Fridley that killed a 6-year-old girl and
critically injured another has appeared in court. We also heard more
from the mother of the victims at a press conference Thursday
morning.Roberto Hipolito, 70, is charged with second-degree manslaughter and two counts of negligently causing a fire. Investigators believe Hipolito had a cook stove that set his van on fire Tuesday morning. It then spread to another vehicle with two young sisters inside. The mother, Essie McKenzie, now watching her 9-year-old daughter fight for her life at Hennepin Healthcare. Her 6-year-old daughter, Ty’rah, already passed away as a result of the injuries from the fire. “She fought a good fight, she really did,” McKenzie said. “I just really miss her. I really do.” According to the criminal complaint, Hipolito told police he and his wife had parked in the lot and slept overnight in their van. Surveillance video showed Hipolito placing his stove on the pavement by the rear of the van and cooking something. The criminal complaint said he didn’t allow time for the stove to cool before he put it back in the van and moved the van closer to the store before going in. Within minutes his van caught fire, as did the vehicles on either side. McKenzie’s daughters Ty’rah and Taraji were asleep in one of those vehicles, while McKenzie had gone into the store to get something. At the hospital, McKenzie talked about how her 9-year-old daughter is still fighting for her life with serious smoke inhalation injuries, as well as burn injuries. “It’s a long road ahead for Taraji, because she doesn’t know too much about what’s going on, until she wakes up and sees her reality now,” McKenzie said. |

transit cop suffered while tussling with an accused turnstile jumper
— as the cop-socker was hit with assault charges and an accomplice
was also charged. The image depicts a nasty, roughly 4-inch gash on the back of the unidentified officer’s head, which had to be closed with multiple stitches. The melee kicked off when Deshawn Daniels, 35, allegedly hopped the turnstile at the East 105th Street station in Canarsie around 12:15 p.m. Tuesday and tussled with officers who tried to stop him, according to cops. Tiffany Jordan, 31, also entered the fray, cops said. At one point, one of the transit cops fell and slammed the back of his head on the ground, the NYPD said. It was not immediately clear what led to the fall. Daniels was charged with two counts of assault on police, resisting arrest, fare evasion and obstruction of governmental administration, according to the NYPD. thrown off.The carjackers, ages 19 and 17, walked through an unlocked back door of the home of James Dillon, 59, in Belleville, where they snatched a set of car keys, according to News 12 New Jersey. Dillon and his wife sprang into action to keep the teens from taking off in their silver Lincoln SUV on Tuesday morning. But when that didn’t work, Dillon threw caution to the wind and hopped onto the hood, holding on for dear life for about two miles before finally falling off. His daughter Angela said he was hospitalized with broken ribs, a broken collarbone and bleeding in his brain. The stolen vehicle eventually crashed on South 11th Street in Newark and the two suspects were arrested after a short foot chase by cops, according to the news outlet. COUNTY — A father and daughter from St. Thomas have been accused of
sexually assaulting two teen-aged girls in an incident at a
Chambersburg motel last month, according to a criminal complaint
affidavit filed by police.Alonzo Brainard Craig, 45, and Aloni Ragene Craig, 18, both of the 8100 block of Lincoln Way West, have been charged with rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, incest, and possession of a controlled substance in the incident, which occurred on July 14. The victims were a 17-year-old girl and her friend, the complaint states. The first victim spoke to police at the Chambersburg Hospital at about 10:44 p.m., police say. She was there to receive treatment for an alleged sexual assault, according to the complaint. Police say the victim reported the assault occurred at a Motel 6 on the 1000 block of Wayne Avenue earlier that day.  According
to police, the victim reported that she and her friend went to the
hotel to meet a man they knew as “Coon” or “Bud,” who was
later identified as Alonzo Craig. The victim told police that Alonzo
and Aloni Craig provided them with MDMA, marijuana, and alcohol
while at the motel.The victim reported that the Craigs pushed her on the bed, removed her clothes, and sexually assaulted her and the other victim. The victim said Alonzo Craig performed oral sex on the other girl and later had forcible sexual intercourse with her. The second victim collaborated the other victim’s story in a separate interview with police, according to the complaint. She also said the Craigs used a sexual device on her, and that Aloni Craig performed oral sex on Alonzo Craig before he had forcible intercourse with the second victim, the complaint states. Alonzo and Aloni Craig were taken into custody on Wednesday. Both admitted that they were father and daughter, and that they provided drugs to the victims, police say. |

says the man followed her, then raped her.The victim was hospitalized after the attack and listed in stable condition over the weekend. Now police are hoping surveillance video from a convenience store around the corner will lead them to the suspect. They are asking anyone who has seen the man to contact them. |

claiming she was HIV-positive and intentionally infecting others is
now being investigated by police.Americus police Major Herman Lamar told news outlets they received several tips Friday on the video. The woman is identified as Brandi Yakeima Lasiter. The roughly 1-minute video shows Lasiter rattling off a list of men she allegedly infected, along with their wives and girlfriends. She bragged about getting revenge on the men, saying she always gets the last laugh. Lamar says one of the men named in the video came forward and filed a communication harassment complaint. The investigation is ongoing and Lamar says police need to first prove Lasiter has HIV. It is a felony in Georgia to knowingly transmit HIV. |

Cumberland County Sheriff's Office has arrested man and his mother
on charges related to child molestation.Arrest warrants show that Hassan Bronson Sr., 36, of the 4100 block of Nashville Drive in Fayetteville, and Paula Bronson, 53, of the 100 block of Snowhill Road, have been arrested on charges of sex acts involving minors. According to court documents, the children involved range in age from 9 to 15. The investigation began in 2017 with a criminal report alleging that Hassan Bronson Sr. was sexually assaulting minor children in the home of his mother. The investigation was closed at that time because there was not sufficient evidence to prove a crime occurred. Court documents show that the mother of the minor children confronted Paula Bronson regarding the allegation and was told, "the allegations were not true because she would not allow that type of behavior in her home." During a Department of Social Services court hearing in 2017 regarding the right to her grandchildren, Paula Bronson was told at the time that her son Hassan was unfit to be around children, documents state. One of the victims in a May 30, 2019, interview told investigators that the sexual assaults took place on more occasions than could be counted, according to documents. The victim also stated that when the grandmother was made aware of the abuse, the victim was told that "Hassan was sick and could not help it," documents state. According to court documents all five children have been placed in foster care. |

offender to death after incident  MEMPHIS,
Tenn. - A stabbing ended with a deadly officer-involved shooting in
Downtown Memphis.The corner of 4th and Exchange was flooded by deputies and officers after the call went out around 10 a.m. Monday. According to a release from the Shelby County Sheriff's Office, a deputy was initially called to the scene for a woman who reported a sexual assault. While talking with that woman, officials said she spotted the man she was reporting. At that point, TBI officials said that the suspect led the deputy on a brief foot chase. During that chase, investigators said the suspect pulled a knife and stabbed the deputy in the arm. The officer then opened fire on the man, who officials identified as James Lee Kirkwood, 49. A witness said he heard six gunshots. Emergency responders performed CPR on Kirkwood at the scene before he was rushed to the hospital. However, police said he was pronounced dead at the hospital. Kirkwood is/was also a registered sex offender in the state of Tennessee. According to court documents, he has criminal charges related to similar incidents dating back to 2012. SCSO said that the officer is in non-critical condition. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is leading the investigation, and more details surrounding the deadly incident are expected to come. |

Butler was found guilty earlier this month on three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Christopher Zamudio, 45, Nicole Boston, 28, and Jerome Coronado, 39. Police found their bodies near a light rail station near Broadway and I-25 in Denver last August. Investigators said Boston and Coronado would often purchase drugs from Butler, who went by the name of “Khaos,” at Civic Center Park in Denver. When they accrued a debt to Butler, he went to their camp and shot and killed the pair and Zamudio, investigators said. In an interview with the Denver Post, Butler said that while the GPS ankle monitor he wore as a condition of his parole put him in the area of the killings that night, he was there to buy drugs from a supplier and never saw any of the victims. 18-year-old charged in connection with fatal Crossroads shooting
  KANSAS
CITY, MO (KCTV) -- One person has been charged murder in connection
with Friday night's shooting in the Crossroads that killed one
25-year-old woman. At about 10:04 p.m., off-duty officers were
notified there was a fight in progress in the area of 18th and
Walnut.When they arrived, they saw several people congregated in the parking lot between Main and Walnut on the north side of the street. They heard several gunshots and then saw several people running from the scene. After the gunfire cleared, they found Erin E. Langhofer from Overland Park suffering from a gunshot wound. Langhofer was taken to the hospital, where she died at 10:50 p.m. Just after the shooting, officers ran and followed three males who were running from the scene. One of them, who was ordered to stop running, dropped a gun before lying on the ground. He identified himself as Deon'te S. Copkney. On Saturday at 3 p.m., Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker said he had been charged in connection with the shooting. Copkney, an 18-year-old from Kansas City, has been charged with second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon, and armed criminal action. The authorities said the 9mm gun that he dropped was confirmed to have fired the 9mm shell casings that were found near the scene of the shooting. Copkney told police he was the only one who fired shots after he and others had been in a physical altercation near the food trucks. According to the probable cause statement, he told police that he was running and he turned backward and "emptied his clip." Two unoccupied vehicles in a parking lot were hit hit by gunfire, also. This shooting happened during the monthly "First Fridays" event, which generally brings thousands of people to the Crossroads District. According to Lincoln Police, Craig’s murder and the shooting and killing of Martae Green, who was dropped off at Bryan West hospital shortly after Craig was shot, are connected. morning because they were at capacity
following a series of shootings, a hospital official said.The hospital went "on bypass" in the early morning, said Roberta Rakove, Senior VP for External Affairs. Hospitals use the term "on bypass" when they stop accepting ambulance runs and those ambulances are diverted to other trauma centers. Mount Sinai Hospital is one of five trauma centers in Chicago, according to Rakove. Chicago Police Public Information Officer Anthony Guglielmi told CNN Sunday that officers responded to several multi-victim shooting incidents on the west side of Chicago stemming from (black) gang conflict. Police Chief Eddie Johnson addressed the press on Sunday and gave a rundown of the violent acts. He noted three separate shootings, which resulted in 10 injuries, one of which was fatal. have charged a man in connection to a Roseville crash that left one
person dead, but are asking for the public's help in finding him.A criminal complaint states Daniel Alexander Jennings faces one count of failure to stop after a fatal traffic collision. According to the complaint, officers were called around 2 a.m. on July 22 on a report of two people fighting in a parking lot near a Raddison Hotel. When police arrived, they found the body of a man who suffered fatal injuries. The complaint said it appeared the man had been dragged. That man has been identified as 23-year-old Michael James Strong. A woman at the scene said Strong was her boyfriend and that they had an argument. The complaint says as they parted ways, the man had made suicidal comments. A semi driver who witnessed the event said he was traveling north on Cleveland Avenue and was turning into a parking lot when he saw a man lying in the road. The semi driver said he then saw a vehicle traveling south on Cleveland Avenue at a high rate of speed. The semi driver told officers he blew his horn at the vehicle to get the driver's attention, however, the vehicle continued to travel at a high rate of speed, striking the man in the road. Officers were able to locate the suspect vehicle at a Motel 6 in Roseville. The complaint says officers spoke to a man, who admitted to being a passenger in the vehicle and identified the driver as Jennings. Police later received a call from Jennings, who admitted he was driving the vehicle when he struck Strong, according to the complaint. Jennings said he stopped and attempted to speak to the police. The complaint said Jennings agreed to come to the police station and give a statement but never appeared. Wednesday afternoon, Strong's family pleaded for the driver to turn himself in. "He ran over my brother and left without speaking to proper authorities," said Justice Strong, Michael's sister. "I wouldn't want that to anybody else. I buried my brother and that's a very hard feeling." a deadly 2017 hit-and-run near Overton Square.Jail records show Joanna Goodfellow, 34, is facing charges for aggravated assault, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident involving a death, tampering with and/or fabricating evidence and driving without a valid license. Investigators believe Goodfellow was behind the wheel of the car that killed Christopher Phillips near Overton Square in February 2017. Police say Phillips was crossing the street at Madison and Morrison when a Ford Mustang hit him and kept driving. Investigators conducted searches of Goodfellow’s father’s car dealership, It’s All Good Auto Sales, early in the investigation in search of the car or other evidence. A civil suit filed in 2018 claimed Goodfellow worked with accomplices to hide the vehicle, destroy evidence and mislead investigators. Son of Albany mayor beaten, robbed while delivering pizza (to
two negro criminals)
 ALBANY
—   The
19-year-old son of Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan was beaten
and robbed by two men as he delivered pizzas in a quiet
residential neighborhood off New Scotland Avenue late Wednesday
night.A police spokesman declined to identify the mayor's son, Jacob Sheehan, contending the department "does not identify crime victims." But he confirmed the details of the robbery and said no arrests have been made. Officer Steven Smith said the incident took place about 11 p.m. on Glenwood Street, while the mayor's son was delivering two pizzas to a residence near Fairview Avenue. "Two black males in their 20s, both wearing dark-colored clothing, jumped out of bushes and began to punch and kick the pizza delivery driver," Smith said. "They stole two pizzas and his money. The driver had some injuries to his face as a result of being punched, and refused medical attention." Delivery and taxi drivers are often targeted in robberies in Albany and other communities by suspects who lure them to an area by calling and posing as a customer. - (Black-on-white) |

RAPIDS, Minn. (WCCO) — A man has been charged with murder in
connection to a woman who was found dead in her Sauk Rapids home
Saturday with four children
present.David Lee Williams, Jr. was charged with two counts of second-degree murder in the death of 30-year-old Crystal Bundy, who was found unresponsive and with multiple injuries early Saturday morning in her home. According to the complaint, police arrived to the home on the 1200 block of 1st Avenue North in Sauk Rapids just before 3 a.m. There, they found Williams, Jr. in bed next to Bundy, who was unconscious with visible bruises across her body and two black eyes, which appeared to be swollen shut. Upon further investigation, police found dried blood on the wall outside the bedroom and a dent in the drywall. An initial autopsy found Bundy endured traumatic injuries, including bleeding over the brain and bruising around her neck, indicative of strangulation. Her death was ruled a homicide by blunt force injuries and strangulation. The complaint states one of the children, a 7-year-old, told authorities that Williams called the children’s grandparents to pick them up because Bundy was experiencing “medical issues.” The complaint says the children’s grandparents told Williams they would not come to the home until he notified law enforcement. - (Black-on-white) |

Pensacola man has been sentenced to prison for having sex without
notifying his partners that he was HIV positive.Rasheem Ikey Bodiford, 27, was sentenced Friday to 10 years in state prison, followed by five years of probation, for three felony counts of having sex with another person without notifying that person that he had HIV, according to a news release by State Attorney Bill Eddins. A penalty procedure hearing was held April 10 to determine whether Bodiford should be considered a danger to the public. Eddins noted it was the first time a penalty procedure hearing to determine the danger level of such offenses had ever been held in Escambia County and one of the first of its kind in Florida. |
