Family of an investment executive who was strangled to death in a 5-star Manhattan hotel have agreed on a settlement of $1.5million. The victim, Andree Bejjani, 44, was asleep in her 10th floor room at Jumeirah Essex House September 19, 2009 when prying housekeeping manager, Derrick Praileau, entered her private space with an electronic key and executed what police described as a 'sex attack gone awry.' Praileau held a 10-inch bread knife to Bejjani's throat and strangled the accomplished businesswoman to death after she refused his advances and pulled her nightgown above her head, according to a New York Daily News report. The family agreed on the settlement in the suit against the hotel's operator at the time and security firm, who were accused in the case. Authorities confirmed that Bejjani, a Lebanese-born real estate investment advisor, did not appear to be raped that September morning, while an autopsy report confirmed she died by strangulation. She was discovered with a jump rope tied around her neck and a basic bread knife stuck out the back of her neck. - (Black-on-white) |

BLACK beast convicted of 1978 kidnapping, rape and murder of (White) mother-of-three after DNA evidence linked him to the crime nearly 40 years later | ||
Nearly 40 years after a mother-of-three was abducted from a gas station, raped and shot, a man has been convicted of her murder thanks to DNA evidence. Neal Antoine Matthews, 60, was found guilty of first degree murder of Leslie Long, who went missing while she was working the night shift at a Chevron gas station in Palmdale, California, on December 3, 1978. On Thursday, after two hours of deliberation, jurors found him to be guilty of murdering during a rape, murder during a kidnapping and murder during a robbery, the DA's office told KTLA. Matthews' accomplice in the murder, 61-year-old Terry Moses, pleaded guilty to the crimes in January 2016. This was the second panel to hear the case against Matthews - the first jury was deadlocked in favor of guilt, according to the DA's office. The 20-year-old mother was reported missing when a confused customer found the gas station empty and called the police.
When police arrived at the gas station they found a safe was open on the floor with coins scattered on the ground around it. Long's purse was still in the office, and her car was still parked in the back. Three days later authorities found Long's body off of a highway in Acton, California. An autopsy revealed that the young mother had been shot multiple times and sexually assaulted, police explained. Police believe the two men took money from a floor safe at the gas station before kidnapping Long at gunpoint, raping and killing her. Long was working long shifts at the gas station to help pay for a new bedroom in her home where she lived with her husband and three children, according to the Los Angeles Times. DNA evidence linked both Matthews and Moses to the crimes in 2015, and they were charged with Long's kidnap, rape and murder. |

Sommer Gatto,18, suffered blunt force trauma to her head and torso Tuesday night. "A young couple, seemingly in love one minute," described Sommer's father, Todd Gatto. "Everything was going fine. Apparently some type of drug activity, we don't know what, and at that point, within minutes, Marquis lost his mind." When deputies arrived on the scene they found Sommer lying in a pool of blood and Marquis' clothes in the street. They had to shock him with a Taser twice to subdue him. I called my older sister because I wanted her to say her goodbyes and I knew at that point there was nothing we could do," said Cameryn Gatto, Sommer's sister. Harris County Sheriff's Office investigators believe Williams was high on "kush," a synthetic drug, when he ran down the street, took off his clothes and attacked Sommer. What Car(s) does Canada's Klimate Barbie Drive? - “Climate Barbie” Catherine McKenna goes on luxury car buying spree Canada’s Minister of Environment Catherine McKenna is often caught on camera striking one of her typical Climate Change Barbie poses. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s token female cabinet minister who, when she’s not mounting a bike in high heels, is typically caught on camera attending fancy international summits where she and her like-minded climate cultists plot ways to drain our pocketbooks through, say, a country-wide carbon tax on literally everything. To be sure, Climate Barbie’s eco-friendly image is a national priority. That’s why she absolutely had to spend over $17,000 taxpayer dollars to hire fancy French photographers to take candid shots: Photos on bikes, photos at climate conferences-- that’s the sort of look every Climate Change Barbie wannabe should aspire to. But, what about photos of our Environment Minister in, say, a gas guzzling Porsche? Or, a Mercedes Benz? - (Canada) |

(White) Man in town for bachelor party beaten, robbed in French Quarter NEW ORLEANS - "The last thing he remembers is two guys chasing him. Caught up to him. Beat him and then hit him upside the head with a baseball bat," said Jason Guin, the victim's brother. Jumped, robbed and brutally attacked is how Kevin Guin's family describes what happened to him. Guin, 33 years old from Virginia, was in New Orleans for a bachelor party when he claims two men attacked him and hit him with a baseball bat. Guin's older brother, Jason Guin tells Eyewitness News they were at the Cats Meow late Thursday night. Some time around 11 p.m., Guin says his brother left and headed towards their hotel, but took a wrong turn. Jason Guin tried reaching Kevin several times, but his phone kept going to voice mail. Police say an officer was flagged down by a witness in the 500 block of Dumaine Street. When officers arrived on the scene, they saw Kevin Guin suffering from a head injury. The witness told officers he saw a black man leaning over Kevin Guin, going through his pockets while he was on the ground before fleeing. Guin says the next morning he received a call from a detective, telling him that his brother Kevin was in the ICU. Guin had to have emergency surgery following the attack and had 31 staples placed in his head. "They took him out of ICU yesterday afternoon. Moved him down to a regular room. Just did physical therapy today. Still doesn't have movement in his right arm. He can't control his right arm. I mean nothing. No movement. Can't move his fingers," Jason Guin said. Right now the family is hoping that by speaking out, a witness will come forward or those responsible will turn themselves in. NOPD is investigating the matter as an attempted armed robbery. "There's a lot of anger. Just ‘cause somebody comes out of a bar, by himself and, goes down the wrong street. And us not knowing where we are, I guess he got spun around. He went down the wrong street and ended up in the hospital. All of his money stolen. Cell phone. All that stuff. Frustration," Guin said. The family is now working on finding a way to send Guin back to his home in Virginia. A friend of the family has also set up a GoFundMe account for Kevin. The account can be found here. - (Black-on-white) |

BLACK Man freed from death row in Delaware prison arrested in Honolulu - Blames racist cops Two other men were arrested the night Jordan Smith, the man charged with murder in Saturday's Waikiki shooting, was taken into custody. They were held on unrelated charges but it turns out one of them has a fascinating history. Isaiah McCoy is not a suspect in the Waikiki shooting case, but did spend over six and a half years in a Delaware prison after being convicted of a murder during a drug deal in 2010. Nine months ago he walked out a free man. “During that trial the prosecutor repeatedly engaged in misconduct and despite that, the jury still found him guilty.” Explained Hawaii criminal defense attorney Victor Bakke. That misconduct prompted the superior court in Delaware to give McCoy a new trial. While McCoy is not a suspect in Saturday's murder, he was at the apartment building where Jordan Smith was arrested Sunday. After checking his name, police found he had outstanding traffic violations and arrested him for contempt of court. |

White female gas station worker suspended after shooting mestizo robbery suspect 'I cocked it and I shot' - Clerk speaks out after shooting attempted robber ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Circle K clerk who shot an accused armed robber, says she was suspended for two weeks. The shooting happened Monday inside the store on Eubank and Candelaria. Target 7 reporter Megan Cruz spoke with the clerk Tuesday afternoon. Jennifer Wertz said she’s upset. She claims robberies happen all the time and yet workers are told they can't defend themselves. Wertz said she had her gun with her Monday because she was supposed to work until 10 p.m. She said she feels uncomfortable walking to her car at night. Wertz put her gun in her pocket after she heard that another nearby convenience store was just robbed. She said she was not behind the counter when a man barged in with a gun. “We are not to chase or provoke. We are just supposed to stand there and give them what they want and they leave,” she said. “So why didn't you do that yesterday?” Cruz asked. “I'm sick and tired of being a sitting duck,” Wertz said. “He pointed the gun at my face, I grabbed my gun from my pocket, I cocked it and I shot.” Police released the suspect’s name Tuesday afternoon. They said 23-year-old Ferron Mendez was shot in the torso, but is expected to survive. The APD said it will charge him once he's released from the hospital. |

ILLEGAL ALIEN Man faces deportation after sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl in Trenton TRENTON >> A man in the country unlawfully was arrested early Tuesday morning after he was found in bed with a 6-year-old girl. Edgar Mendoza, a 32-year-old citizen of Guatemala, jumped out the second-floor window of a Bayard Street home after the child’s father found him in bed with his daughter. Police apprehended Mendoza a short time later. The family does not know Mendoza, who now faces deportation. “The people in the residence do not know him,” Lt. Stephen Varn said when asked if Mendoza was a stranger to the victim’s family. “We believe he entered through the same window he jumped out of.” Officials say the victim’s father entered the young girl’s room around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday and found Mendoza in bed with his child. After Mendoza jumped out of the window, the father called police and provided a description of the alleged pedophile. Detectives from the Street Crimes Unit later found Mendoza, and the child’s parent positively identified him as the man who was in bed with his kid. “Further investigation found the child had been sexually assaulted by Mendoza,” Varn said. A spokesperson with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said the agency issued a detainer against Mendoza. |
