Sociopathic black brute who attacked strangers & White female police officer with hammer is unapologetic The raging brute who used a black claw hammer to attack four strangers — including a young female cop — in Manhattan in 2015 couldn’t muster even an apology to his victims as he was sentenced to 22 years in prison Wednesday. Justice Michael Obus asked defendant David Baril, 32, whether he had anything to say. “Nah,” he answered in Manhattan Supreme Court. Baril previously copped to attempted aggravated assault on a police officer and three counts of second-degree assault as part of a plea. Assistant District Attorney Courtney Groves described Baril’s “brief but substantial reign of terror” that began May 11, 2015. The hammer-wielding hobo admitted that he first struck a 20-year-old man in the back of the head near West 35th Street and Sixth Avenue. Baril then made his way south to Union Square Park, where he randomly whacked in the head a 28-year-old woman seated on a bench and bashed a 33-year-old woman near West 17th Street. Two days later, eagle-eyed Police Officer Lauren O’Rourke recognized him in Hell’s Kitchen from NYPD “wanted” photos and approached him, Groves said. The psycho lost it and chased her into a busy intersection, battering her with the hammer. His rampage came to an end when O’Rourke’s partner, Geraldo Casaigne, shot Baril four times. - (Black-on-white) |

Island pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault on a law-enforcement officer and gun offenses in the shooting of Officer Dorman, who was shot seven times during a response in Delaware County for drug activity. Dorman, then 25, was shot in the face, leg and groin in Folcroft as he approached people suspected of smoking marijuana behind an apartment building. Island fled after the shooting, prompting a three-hour manhunt. The 34-year-old was later arrested at the same apartment complex. After the sentencing hearing Thursday, Dorman said, "I think he should have been put away for a lot longer." "I'm very fortunate I'm able to speak, to see Dante get the sentence he did," Dorman said, "Police officers are a target in this country and world today, and I think stricter sentences are needed for crimes against law enforcement." Dorman has recovered after multiple surgeries and returned to police duty. Island served about nine years in federal prison on a gun conviction before his release in 2013. His sentence in the shooting of officer Dorman includes about a year of the time he has already served. - (Black-on-white) |

The two were sitting in the alley next to McCain’s home. “I’m sympathetic to their situation, but that behavior out in public is uncalled for,” McCain said. Her dining room and her teenage son’s bedroom window overlook that alley. McCain said both she and her son saw the act. To make matters worse, McCain told Action News Jax she feels like officers downplayed the situation when she called them. “I figure, OK, I got footage, and it’s done in front of a minor, he’s going to get arrested,” she said. “No, that didn’t happen.” McCain said the officer instead told the couple to leave but didn’t make any arrests. She said the officer also did not want to see the video when she offered to show it to him. “I was very upset,” said McCain. She said she emailed the video to JSO. McCain believes if the man had been charged, he might have stayed away. Instead, she said, he came back, and she’s worried for her family’s safety. |

(Black) Man arrested for raping teen girl after DNA evidence links him to child, police say BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - A 48-year-old man was arrested Thursday on a sexual battery charge after DNA evidence linked him to the child of the 17-year-old victim, police said. George Simms Jr. was taken into custody by U.S. marshals Thursday morning in Delray Beach, Boynton Beach police spokeswoman Stephanie Slater said. He faces one count of sexual battery. According to a Boynton Beach police report, the teenage girl told police that she was raped by Simms in February 2016. She told police that she was at a party in Boynton Beach, had a glass of liquor and felt a bit "tipsy" when she left with a friend to go to a store. After the friend left, Simms started kissing the girl, she told police. She told him "no" as he proceeded to take off their pants and rape her, the report said. In April 2016, the girl learned that she was pregnant. When police questioned Simms about the alleged incident in May 2016, he denied having any sexual relationship with the teen and agreed to provide a sample of his DNA, the report said. After the teen gave birth in October 2016, police obtained consent to collect DNA from the newborn baby. The DNA evidence was sent to a laboratory for testing, and the results came back last month. |

(Black) man crys in court - he is awarded free room & board for life for cold-blooded 2013 murder of White marijuana dealer Timothy Markel Gaston turned around in Lake County Common Pleas Court and asked the family and friends of murder victim Matthew “Matty” Hammond for forgiveness. However, Gaston, a 29-year-old Tennessee man, maintained he was not the person who shot the 23-year-old Painesville Township victim in the chin during a July 26, 2013, home invasion. “My intentions were wrong,” Gaston said as he began to cry. “But I did not pull that trigger.” Gaston was sentenced July 24 to life in prison with parole eligibility in 47 years after Judge Vincent A. Culotta refused to grant his motion for a new trial. Prosecutors said Gaston was one of two men who burst into the victim’s trailer shortly before 4 a.m. to rob Hammond, a marijuana dealer. The victim was held down, beaten and then shot in front of his live-in girlfriend. - (Black-on-white) |

(Black) Motorist on the run after hitting, killing Haines City bicyclist, officials say Polk County authorities are searching for a man they say fatally hit a bicyclist Monday morning in Haines City before fleeing. Darrell Lavel Coleman, Jr., 26, killed Charles Hudson, Jr., 66, as the older man cycled on the shoulder of Kokomo Road, according to Polk County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Carrie Horstman. Coleman later ditched his vehicle near Detour Road, she said. Officials said they think Coleman is in or near Lake Hamilton, where he he is thought to have last lived on North Church Street, Horstman said. He is likely dressed in jeans and a black T-shirt, she said. The Lake Hamilton Police Department picked Coleman up June 30 on drug-possession charges. He was released the next day after posting bail. Hudson was a resident of Solivita, a Poinciana retirement community, and volunteered with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Citizen’s Assisted Patrol. In April, the Sheriff’s Office honored him for devoting 345 hours to the program in 2016. "Charles was a beloved member of the Solivita CAP group and a devoted volunteer at our agency. … Tragically, he was killed while out doing something he loved — bicycling,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said. “We hope to have the person responsible for his death in jail before the day's end. We won't stop until we find him." - (Black-on-white) |
Witness tied suspects to (White) Masury man’s murder, another Youngstown shooting YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Youngstown police said a witness helped tie two men from Columbus to the killing a Masury man near the Four Seasons Flea Market last November. Daniel Kitchen and his half-brother, David Madumelu, are facing several charges related to the death of 34-year-old Joshua Beasley. Police said they also shot two women on Youngstown’s south side the next day in an attempt to cover up Beasley’s murder. Beth Kowalski, Beasley’s sister, said her family is still coming to terms with her brother’s death eight months ago. “Josh was the kind of person that would give you anything that you wanted, that you asked for, that last dollar in his wallet,” she said. That’s why Beasley’s death was all the more shocking. Police said a witness pointed to Madumelu as the shooter, saying that he and Kitchen killed Beasley after they robbed him. The witness was arrested in Columbus — along with Madumelu and Kitchen — on charges related to a string of robberies there. She recounted the circumstances surrounding that day, on November 6, when Beasley was killed. - (Black-on-white) |

'Bizarre': Black Woman, 65, Steals Taxi, Picks Up Unaware Mother & 10-Month-Old: Philadelphia Police A woman with a limp who asked to be taken to a Philadelphia casino turned from taxi passenger to cabbie overnight in what investigators call "a bizarre story." "It's a pretty unusual job to steal a cab and then start picking up passengers like you’re a cab driver," Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said. Three of Shorter’s pals — Brandon Walker, 20, Justin Williams, 17, and 19-year-old Julisses Ginel — had already been arrested and charged with first-degree criminal sexual act, robbery and first-degree sexual abuse. The four suspects lived in a homeless shelter in Jamaica, just blocks away from where authorities say they pulled a gun on the 50-year-old victim as she was walking from the Celestial Church of Christ in Jamaica at 11 p.m. — then forced her to undress and perform oral sex on them. |

Dijanelle Etta Fowler, 25, has been charged with second degree murder, concealing death and second degree cruelty to children. Instead of calling 911, police say their investigation shows Fowler called someone to jump her car. |
