(Black) Mechanicsville woman again faces first-degree murder charge in Walmart shooting of a (White) woman A Mechanicsville woman is once again facing a first-degree murder charge in a fatal shooting at an Ashland Walmart parking lot this year. A Hanover County grand jury on June 20 indicted Brittany Lashea Wiggins on a murder charge in connection with the killing of Ashley Fricke, 25, of Caroline County. A Nov. 13 jury trial has been set. In May, General District Court Judge Hugh S. Campbell dismissed the original murder charge against Wiggins, finding there wasn’t probable cause to support it. After that ruling, prosecutors decided to seek a first-degree murder indictment directly from a grand jury, said R.E. “Trip” Chalkley III, the Hanover commonwealth’s attorney. Wiggins, 25, also faces three other charges — maliciously shooting at a vehicle, using a firearm while committing a felony and firing from a vehicle during the Feb. 18 incident. - (Black-on-white) |

Interracial Duo (Hispanic female and black man) convicted of Eagle Township murder charged in (White) Lansing man's death LANSING - 62-year-old Eagle Township resident Jeffrey Kebler was brutally murdered inside his home. Police say that case — which ultimately saw four people sentenced to lengthy prison terms for murder and other charges. That October, Alexis Pena testified in court that she, her fiance Dominique Harris and two other men walked through an unlocked door into Kebler’s home and choked him with a rope saw before stabbing him in the neck. The group, she said, spent hours rummaging through the home and eventually stole TVs, tools, jewelry and other items. Her testimony was made as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors. Pena pinned much of the blame on Mitchell Ballinger and Manuel Martinez, the other two men facing charges, and in return got the lightest prison sentence: 20-60 years. Ballinger, Martinez and Harris — Pena’s fiance — all eventually reached plea deals of their own, and were each sentenced in April 2016 to at least 30 years in prison. George Simms Jr. was taken into custody by U.S. marshals Thursday morning in Delray Beach, Boynton Beach police spokeswoman Stephanie Slater said. He faces one count of sexual battery. According to a Boynton Beach police report, the teenage girl told police that she was raped by Simms in February 2016. (Black) Motorist on the run after hitting, killing Haines City bicyclist, officials say Polk County authorities are searching for a man they say fatally hit a bicyclist Monday morning in Haines City before fleeing. Darrell Lavel Coleman, Jr., 26, killed Charles Hudson, Jr., 66, as the older man cycled on the shoulder of Kokomo Road, according to Polk County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Carrie Horstman. Coleman later ditched his vehicle near Detour Road, she said. Witness tied suspects to (White) Masury man’s murder, another Youngstown shooting YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Youngstown police said a witness helped tie two men from Columbus to the killing a Masury man near the Four Seasons Flea Market last November. Daniel Kitchen and his half-brother, David Madumelu, are facing several charges related to the death of 34-year-old Joshua Beasley. Police said they also shot two women on Youngstown’s south side the next day in an attempt to cover up Beasley’s murder. Beth Kowalski, Beasley’s sister, said her family is still coming to terms with her brother’s death eight months ago. “Josh was the kind of person that would give you anything that you wanted, that you asked for, that last dollar in his wallet,” she said. That’s why Beasley’s death was all the more shocking. Police said a witness pointed to Madumelu as the shooter, saying that he and Kitchen killed Beasley after they robbed him. The witness was arrested in Columbus — along with Madumelu and Kitchen — on charges related to a string of robberies there. She recounted the circumstances surrounding that day, on November 6, when Beasley was killed. - (Black-on-white) |

LESBIAN Minneapolis Police Chief Janeé Harteau resigns after shooting of White woman by affirmative action Somali muslim cop Minneapolis Police Chief Janeé Harteau resigned Friday amid criticism of her response to a string of high-profile police shootings. Harteau's resignation came at the request of Mayor Betsy Hodges, who has publicly clashed with the police chief. Hodges said in a statement Friday that she lost confidence in Harteau. She continued, "For us to continue to transform policing -- and community trust in policing -- we need new leadership at [Minneapolis Police Department]." (BLACK ex-boyfriend) Virginia man convicted of murder after hospital stabbing (of his white ex-girlfriend) NORTHAMPTON COUNTY, Va. - Officials say that a Virginia man was found guilty on Wednesday of murdering a woman in November of 2016 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Northampton County. According to the Northampton County State's Attorney, Winston Burton was convicted of first degree murder in the killing of 42-year-old Shellie Crockett of Keller. Burton stabbed Crockett 46 times. Its unclear when Burton will be sentenced. A pre-sentence investigation has been ordered in the case; however, because Burton has two previous convictions for malicious wounding, a mandatory sentence is life in prison. Officials say that during the two day trial, a jury heard two eyewitness accounts, they heard from a medical examiner and that there were 98 exhibits. Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital was put on lock down status around 7:30 a.m. on November 27 after the Northampton County Sheriff's Office received a report of a stabbing victim. When deputies arrived, Burton already fled. They learned that Crockett was treated by hospital staff for being stabbed multiple times but she later succumbed to her injuries. The hospital was placed on lockdown for five hours. - (Black-on-white) |

(Black) Fort Wayne man's sentencing ends in brief chaos Allen County Superior Court bailiffs scrambled to control brief chaos Friday morning after a sentencing hearing left the defendant wailing, "Eighty years, 80 years!," the victim yelling at him and the defendant's mother being led away in handcuffs. The scene, which lasted only a minute or two, took place immediately after Judge Fran Gull sentenced Frank D. Drake, 26, to 40 years each on charges of two counts of rape and one count of burglary, with the rape charges served concurrently for a total of 80 years in prison. Drake, who had just spent several minutes asking for leniency and apologizing for actions he said he doesn't remember, broke down in the jury box where he and other defendants were sitting. He began crying and shouting, "Eighty years, 80 years!" The victim, who was sitting with her parents in the audience, started yelling, "You almost killed me!" as court staff tried quickly to escort her out of the courtroom. Drake's mother, who earlier in the hearing also pleaded for leniency for her son, also became upset. As her son was being led out of the courtroom, she ignored a bailiff's orders to stay back and approached the railing between the court staff and audience to try to get close to her son. She reportedly was arrested for disorderly conduct, handcuffed and let out of the courtroom to the Allen County Jail. The case stems from an alleged November attack on the mother of a woman Drake had dated for several years, court records and sentencing hearing testimony said. "There is a monster inside him," her father told the court. |
