SEATTLE STINKS OF URINE AND EXCREMENT * Black Councilmember against power-washing because it reminds him of 60's South Two King County Superior Court judges are asking for help cleaning up the courthouse at Third Avenue and James Street after they say two jurors and half a dozen employees have been assaulted. The judges, Laura Inveen and Jim Rogers, acknowledged Tuesday that there are difficult underlying circumstances contributing to the unsanitary and potentially frightening atmosphere around the courthouse. They — along with King County Sheriff John Urquhart — also recognized that there are two elements at play: crime and the fear of crime, with the latter being just as likely to keep people away as the former. The nearby blocks host most of the city’s homeless-shelter beds and many of its social-service outlets, which draw those who need help and the people who prey on them. That’s nothing new, Rogers said. Councilmember Larry Gossett said he didn’t like the idea of power-washing the sidewalks because it brought back images of the use of hoses against civil-rights activists |

Police: Fatal shooting of black man in Birmingham might have been retaliation for sexual assault of minor Police believe a homicide this afternoon in southwest Birmingham occurred in retaliation for an alleged sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl. The victim of the shooting was a black male in his late forties, said Birmingham Police Department spokesman Lt. Sean Edwards. The victim was living with a woman who had a 13-year-old daughter. Edwards said the shooting appeared to occur after she told family members she had been sexually assaulted by her mother's boyfriend. Police are investigating the sexual assault allegations and they have not been confirmed, Edwards said. "It's a very unfortunate thing because you always hope that family members will not take justice into their own hands," he said. Edwards said family members and friends might have been involved in the murder. So far, no one has been taken into custody, he said. The victim was found at 1128 15th Place SW. An alley behind several houses has been roped off with crime scene tape. Officers responded at 3:14 p.m. to a call that someone had been shot, he said. The victim died on the scene. The investigation is ongoing. So far, it appears the shooters chased the victim on foot and he fled for a short period of time before falling due to his injuries. |

(Black) Councilman Ruben Wills misspent $21K of tax money meant for charity: auditor Queens Councilman Ruben Wills misspent nearly two-thirds of the tax money awarded to him for a nonprofit, a state investigator testified Wednesday at Wills’ corruption trial. Joe Morrissey, an auditor for the state’s inspector general, said his probe of bank statements and receipts showed that Wills blew some $21,000 on personal expenses from $33,000 allocated to his New York 4-Life nonprofit from the state Office of Children Family Services. Money from the charity would go toward helping single parents, cleaning streets and fighting childhood obesity, Wills said when he set up the organization. Morrissey concluded that “$21,000 spent [by Wills] was not related to the contract.” |

1-year-old daughter sexually assaulted by children at babysitter's home NORFOLK, Va. -- Police are investigating a mother's claim that two children sexually assaulted her 1-year-old daughter while the girl was in the care of a babysitter. Lichella Harris told officers the incident happened July 5 while her friend and her friend's sister were watching her daughter. 13News Now spoke to Harris. "From what I was told, it was told that the little boy and his friend took off her Pamper, fondled her, and tried to insert themselves inside her," stated Harris. The mother said she filed the complaint with Norfolk police a few days after the babysitter's sister called her and told her what happened. Police confirmed they're investigating and said Harris' baby received medical attention, although detectives said the girl was not hurt. Police told 13News Now at the time the alleged incident took place, the children had been left alone. "If you were actually keeping an eye on my child, none of this would've transpired in the first place," said Harris. Crystal Mann and Sarafina Mann were charged with Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, although how those charges related to the allegations was not clear. In order to protect the integrity of the ongoing criminal investigation, police said they could not release additional information about the case. Because of the ages of the juvenile suspects involved, the completed case file will be turned over to the Norfolk Commonwealth's Attorney's Office for review. |

DNA on beer can leads to second murder charge for inmate nearly two decades later A can of beer left at the scene of a strangulation nearly two decades ago at a Far South Side motel led authorities to an inmate serving a 60-year sentence for another woman's slaying. Henry Sandifer, 59, appeared before Judge Maria Kuriakos Ciesil, who denied bail during a hearing at the Leighton Criminal Court Building on Wednesday afternoon. Sandifer was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Angela Renee Kirkling, who was 33 when she arrived at the Royal Motel, 45 W. 103rd St., on Jan. 17, 2000, with a male companion, according to prosecutors and records. A desk clerk checked Kirkling in about 9:20 a.m. with the understanding that she would be checking out about eight hours later, at 5:20 p.m. But when it got to be 6 p.m. and she hadn’t left, a staffer entered her room and found Kirkling lying on the floor wearing only socks, prosecutors said. |

Suspect ID'd in theft of copper wire at Entergy substation, causing power outages - Civilization does not work with black parasites stealing wire Rickey Telsede, 32, is accused of stealing copper wire from an Entergy substation, triggering wide-spread power outages on June 29, New Orleans police said Monday (July 10). Entergy was notified that there was a trespasser inside the substation in the 1800 block of Julia Street about 4:30 a.m. An employee noticed a hole had been cut in a chain-link fence and discovered three to five feet of wire missing from 21 breaker boxes, 20 tower legs and three transformers, police said. (Black) Newlyweds from Georgia accused of kidnapping, raping woman * Couple also entered 2 Miami businesses completely nude MIAMI - A 27-year-old woman was kidnapped and raped Sunday after she left a Publix in Hialeah. After the ordeal, the woman managed to escape and make sure her newlywed attackers ended up in jail. The woman was in her vehicle, backing out of the parking lot of the supermarket at 155 E. Second Ave. and was about to put her car into drive when Rashada Hurley (the negress), 32, came up to her window, Miami-Dade police said. The woman rolled down her window and was struck on the head by Hurley, causing her to lose consciousness, police said. When she regained consciousness, Timothy Lowe (the negro), 37, was driving the vehicle, police said, and the woman was on her side getting choked by Hurley, who also punched her in the nose and mouth. The woman attempted to fight back, but both Lowe and Hurley held her down. Lowe drove the car to a Motel 6 at 7330 NW 36th St., where Hurley booked a room using the woman's credit card. Police said it was in the motel room where Lowe and Hurley raped the woman. The woman told police that they forced her to have intercourse and perform oral sex on Hurley, according to a police report. Once Hurley and Lowe were distracted, the woman was able to escape. Authorities said that Lowe and Hurley are also accused of going inside two Miami businesses on Monday while they were completely nude. |
