East Chicago police said in a statement that the suspects did not just steal beer, but also ignored orders and, in trying to get away, nearly injured an officer. The girl has been identified as 13-year-old Julianna Chambers of Whiting, Ind. She was on her way home from the doctor with her 57-year-old grandmother in a Chevy Equinox when it was T-boned by a Dodge Durango being chased by East Chicago police into Hammond at about 5 p.m., police said. Hammond police joined the chase after the cars crossed into their jurisdiction. State police said the Dodge ran a red light and hit the driver's side of the Equinox in the intersection of Gostlin and Columbia Avenue. In the cell phone video, the vehicles are left crumpled and several yards from the point of impact. The driver tries to make a run for it, but doesn't get far. State police said the driver of the Equinox, 57-year-old Theresa Paramo of Whiting, Ind., was taken to North Lake Methodist Hospital in critical condition and then airlifted to Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn. Her granddaughter was taken to Saint Margaret's Hospital in Hammond, where she died. On Thursday, East Chicago police revealed the chase began when suspects Donnell Howard, of Highland, and Jessica Pichon, of East Chicago, tried to run from police after Pichon was caught stealing a case of beer from a store. - (Black-on-white) |

(Black) Man guilty of murder (of white 'friend'?) in 2013 Waukegan motel stabbing After more than two days of deliberations, a Lake County jury found Kevin Curtis guilty Wednesday of first-degree murder for the 2013 stabbing of a 19-year-old former Lake Villa resident in a Waukegan motel room. Curtis, 29, charged with three counts of first-degree murder, was convicted of one count of first-degree murder with the knowledge that his actions could cause great bodily harm. He now faces a mandatory sentencing range of 20 to 60 years in prison, and Judge George Strickland ordered Curtis held without bail until his sentencing. A sentencing date has not yet been scheduled. The sentencing range would not have changed if he had been found guilty of the other two counts. Prosecutors argued during the trial that Curtis purposefully stabbed 19-year-old Jacob Blum, a co-worker, in a Waukegan motel on the evening of July 16, 2013. Curtis, who took the stand during his trial last week, said the stabbing was accidental, occurring after Blum "plowed" into him on a motel bed while Curtis was using the knife to clean his fingernails. He testified the two had wrestled and engaged in horseplay previously. |

(Black) Suspect in abduction, throat-slashing (of white woman) admits to conspiracy to commit murder WILKES-BARRE — A city man Wednesday admitted to conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in the brutal 2014 assault and attempted homicide of a woman who prosecutors allege was kidnapped, beaten, and left for dead after one of her captors took a knife to her throat. Nygee Jamal Taylor, 27, pleaded guilty to the charge at a hearing before Luzerne County Judge David W. Lupas, who immediately sentenced him to 9½ to 19 years in state prison. Nearly a dozen related offenses were withdrawn in exchange for Taylor’s plea, which the judge accepted despite Taylor’s initial reluctance to admit to the facts of the case as read by prosecutors. Asked after the hearing why he appeared hesitant, a shackled Taylor said, “Because I ain’t do it.” Taylor and co-defendants Jerone Andre Moore, 33, and Chloe Amelia Isaacs, 23, both of Wilkes-Barre, were charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, aggravated assault, kidnapping and related charges on allegations they conspired to kill Dayna Williams in October 2014. - (Black-on-white) |

(White) Daytona veteran beaten up (by three filthy, subhuman, scum demonic blacks) for trying to save turtle's life DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Three young men were arrested Tuesday after police said they beat up a Navy veteran who asked them to stop torturing a turtle, according to Daytona Beach police. A woman was walking her toddler around a pond at Wedgewood Apartments and told police she saw three men torturing a turtle. She went home and told her husband, Gary Blough, they were “smashing up a turtle.” Blough went outside and said he saw a group of three men repeatedly abusing the animal. "The one had it over his head and he was smashing it down on the sidewalk," Blough said. "I asked them to please leave it alone, just let it go to the lake." One of the men, later identified at Johnnie Beveritt, 18, picked up the turtle and threw it down on the sidewalk; the two other men, Ryan Ponder, 23 and a 16-year-old boy, kicked the turtle toward the apartment building away from the pond, the witness told police. Blough told police that the turtle was trying to crawl away but was seriously injured and unable to walk. He told his wife to call the police after the suspects did not stop attacking the animal. After that, two of the suspects struck Blough with their hands, fists and feet. "They started hitting the back of my head and started punching me. I was able to fend off a little bit but I mean three of them, got the better of me," he said. Blough told them he did not want to fight, one of the attackers said “I don’t give a f—and I don’t care if I go to jail.”. The suspects continued to beat Blough until neighbors came out and the suspects ran away. A Daytona Beach police officer captured all three suspects and the victim’s wife positively identified them as the attackers, according to the report. Blough told police he is a disabled veteran who was seriously injured in the Persian Gulf War. First responders said the victim suffered injuries during the attack including broken skull and facial bones, internal bleeding and a concussion. Police did not know how the injuries would affect him long term. Blough's wife set up a GoFundMe account to raise money for his extensive medical expenses. She said Blough will need surgery on his eye after the beating. Blough said he hopes the men are punished for what they did and would intervene again, without a doubt. "Yeah, I'd do it again and take the beating again if it meant saving that turtle," he said. Police found the turtle, dead, floating in the pond in a puddle of blood. “The animal likely suffered greatly during the time it was being battered by the three defendants,” the officer wrote in the arrest report. - (Black-on-white) |

Fatal Stanton Street shooting of black (estranged ex-lover) ruled justified WILKES-BARRE — Authorities will not file charges in the fatal shooting of a 34-year-old man on Stanton Street last June. The parents of Robert Hood vowed to continue fighting after authorities ruled the fatal shooting of their son a justifiable homicide. Hood died after a shooting at 320 Stanton St. in Wilkes-Barre on June 24. The coroner ruled his death a homicide a few days later. Thomas Romanowski, 67, owned the home at 320 Stanton St. and lived there with Jacqueline Newton, 32, who has a child with Romanowski’s son and was Hood’s estranged ex-lover at the time of the shooting. According to the district attorney’s office, a man at 320 Stanton St. shot Hood after Hood attacked and cut him “with a shiny object.” The man drew a firearm and fired several times, striking Hood. Hood then fled into the yard and “succumbed to his injuries.” The release states Salavantis has ruled “the use of force by the male justified.” The release does not specifically identify Romanowski, but describes previous incidents between Hood, Romanowski and Newton as an “extensive history resulting” in the shooting death of Hood. Court documents indicate Hood previously harassed Romanowski and Newton for a period of 18 months — police alleged Hood broke into the Stanton Street home and assaulted them in December 2014. In November 2015, Hood beat Newton unconscious by slamming her head off the pavement then tried to drag her away, according to arrest papers and the district attorney’s office. Romanowski shot and wounded Hood then, police said. Romanowski was not charged in that incident, but Hood was charged with assault, disorderly conduct and harassment. The fatal shooting occurred days after Hood posted bail on those charges, the district attorney’s office said. According to the release, investigators found Hood had been contacting Newton and “threatening to kill her, the male with whom she was living and himself” before the night of the fatal shooting. Authorities said Hood broke into 320 Stanton St. through a rear window that night and made similar threats when Newton returned to the home. Hood attacked Romanowski, leading Romanowski to draw his gun and fire several times, ultimately killing Hood. - (Black-on-white) |

(Black) Man who wounded (White) Williamsport cabbie in $26 robbery draws sentence of 36 to 72 years WILLIAMSPORT - A man who shot a Williamsport taxi driver and robbed him of $26 has been sentenced to 36 to 72 years in prison. Lycoming County Judge Nancy L. Butts on Tuesday, when she sentenced Dante Jamile Washington, 27, compared the lengthy sentence to the life change the crime has had on the victim. Eugene Phillips was critically wounded when shot in the arm about 6 a.m. March 15, 2014. The bullet went into his torso, causing damage to the liver, spleen, stomach and lungs. Phillips, who testified the shooting left him devastated, said: "I would have given him anything he wanted including the cab. He didn't have to shoot me." He was working two jobs at the time to make ends meet, he said. Part of Washington's sentence was restitution of $1,568 primarily to cover Phillips's lost wages. He no longer drives a taxi. The weapon Washington used has not been recovered, causing Butts to comment: "That's a scary thought." Washington was on parole from a 2009 drug conviction when the shooting occurred. - (Black-on-white) |
