UPDATE: (black home invader) shot & killed attempting to break into home ID'd LOUISVILLE, KY – A woman shot and killed a man who was attempting to break into her home, according to her son. Louisville Metro police officers were called to the 3800 block of Northumberland Drive in the Worthington Hills neighborhood on a report of a shooting around 3:20 p.m. Friday. The homeowner’s son, Bruce Haddix, said he was at the gym when he got a call from his mom saying people were trying to break into their house. He said he raced home, but by that time he said his mom shot one of the men trying to break in. Haddix said his mother bought a gun last year for protection, and he's glad she did. "They was shaking the doors (for) 30 minutes. They were posted up outside the house, waiting 30 minutes on top of that. So they were here for over an hour probably," Haddix said. "Then they finally broke the window out of the back door (and) tried to come in. My mom stepped out of the hallway with her gun, got one shot off, and she got somebody." Louisville Metro Police Department spokeswoman Alicia Smiley confirmed the men made it inside the home when the shot was fired. Smiley said the Commonwealth Attorney determined no charges will be filed against the homeowner. The surviving suspect, Aaron McDuffie, 23, was charged with murder and burglary. The man killed was 23-year-old Eric Gathwright. He died of a gun-shot wound, according to Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Bob Jones. - (Black-on-white) |

Northampton County Sheriff David Doughty Jr. confirmed the victim is 42-year-old Shelli Crockett. 58-year-old Winston Burton is charged with first degree murder. The victim’s sister said Shelli worked at the hospital and was on her way to work when she was killed. She said the suspect was her sister’s ex-boyfriend. Mindi Crockett said, “I guess he thought that if he can’t have her, no one can.” “She was stabbed multiple times and (the cuts were) so deep,” Mindi Crockett said. “They were trying to keep her living, but they couldn’t.” Sheriff Doughty said Crockett was standing outside of her car when an altercation occurred that resulted in her death. She had been stabbed multiple times. A short time later, authorities learned Crockett had died from her injuries. According to hospital spokesman Peter Glagola, the lockdown went into effect at 8:30 a.m. People could only enter the hospital at two locations: the main lobby entrance and the outpatient entrance. The lockdown was lifted around 1 p.m. The hospital is located in Nassawadox, in Northampton County. Burton is being held at Eastern Shore Regional Jail. His bond was denied. - (Black-on-white) |

david ramseur • 12 minutes ago * The attacker took Islam seriously. He did not bastardize the religion, but followed its clear directives. Thank God that more Muslims do not take their faith as seriously as they are called to. Although, hundreds of millions around the world do. Islam is the problem. Islam itself is extreme/radical, the qualifier is redundant. Islam is dominant over all of society. Islam is socio-politically totalitarian. Islam does not mask itself. Islam is open about its goals and supremacism, you just have to read the texts and understand the traditions. Whenever attacks like this happen, I automatically assume that a Muslim was the perpetrator now. The only reasons why people refuse to acknowledge the inherent evil of Islam are political correctness and fear. |

After sneaking back into the US — and more run-ins with the law — he was booted again in 2015. “ICE removed Greenland twice by air,” confirmed an ICE spokeswoman. But the |

Deputy US marshal, fugitive killed in Georgia shootout LUDOWICI, Ga. – The hunt for a fugitive accused of shooting at police in South Carolina turned deadly when law officers tracked the suspect to southeast Georgia, where an attempt to arrest him erupted in gunfire. The brief shootout at a mobile home in rural Long County killed a deputy U.S. marshal as well as the man his team was trying to apprehend. The U.S. Marshals Service said Patrick Carothers, deputy commander of the agency's Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, died after being shot twice as the officers entered the mobile home. "Pat is a hero," David Harlow, deputy director of the Marshals Service, said in a statement Friday offering condolences to Carothers' wife and five children. Carothers had served 26 years with the agency. The slain suspect was identified as Dontrell Montese Carter, 25. He had been wanted in Sumter County, South Carolina, since Sept. 18 on charges of attempted murder of police officers, domestic violence and illegally discharging a weapon. The agency said Carothers and his team had tracked Carter to a mobile home just outside Ludowici, about 55 miles southwest of Savannah. Carothers was shot as they were entering the home. Law officers returned fire and shot Carter multiple times, the Marshals Service said. Both men were taken to area hospitals, where they were pronounced dead. - (Black-on-white) |

(Black) Man resentenced in home invasion and gang-rape attack on (White) students: 'Details would turn stomach' GRAND RAPIDS — A Grand Rapids man convicted in a brutal home invasion and assault of college students in which a young woman was raped returned to a Kent County courtroom for resentencing this week, but it did not change the outcome. Rederick Louis Melton received the same sentence he got three years ago; a minimum of 43 years in prison for the June, 2012 attack on college students.Several young men were pistol-whipped; a woman was beaten and raped. “I’ve been on the bench almost 30 years now. Outside of murder cases, this and one other case are the worst I’ve seen,’’ Kent County Circuit Court Judge George S. Buth said. Melton is one of five people charged in the home invasion, armed robbery and sexual assault. He was resentenced based on the Michigan Supreme Court’s July 2015 decision that sentencing guidelines mandating prison terms are unconstitutional. Judges should use them only in an advisory capacity, justices said. The victims held a party in their home near Grand Valley State University’s Grand Rapids campus. After the party ended, they heard a knock at the door in the predawn hours. Two men came inside, saying they had lost a wallet. Three others came in through a back door. Several men staying at the home were beaten and robbed. “I was figuring to die,’’ one of the victims testified at a 2012 court hearing. The assailants took turns sexually assaulting an 18-year-old woman living in the house. Police arrested five people, including a 14-year-old. The adults are all serving lengthy prison terms. The rape “went way beyond what you’d normally see with a sexual assault,’’ Buth said - (Black-on-white) |

Published on Jun 9, 2012 GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Three men were arraigned for their alleged roles in a brutal break-in and rape at a southwest side Grand Rapids house early Monday. Dorian Jones, Rederick Melton and Brandon Towns, were each officially charged with three counts of first-degree criminal sexual assault, four counts of armed robbery and one count of home invasion. Towns also faces an additional charge for being a fourth time habitual offender. Jones - who has prior record in Illinois - and Melton are each 20 years old, while Towns is 25. They were all ordered held without bond by Judge Jeanine Laville . James Edward Hodges, 19, of Grand Rapids surrendered himself at the Grand Rapids Police Department late Friday afternoon. He faces similar charges as the other three suspects. Hodges will be arraigned on June 11. A fourth person is a 14-year-old who will be processed through the juvenile system. During a press conference on Thursday, Grand Rapids police called them a "dangerous crew" and were looking to connect them to other crimes, including church break-ins. The five suspects allegedly broke into a home on Veto Street, near the Grand Valley State University Pew Campus, hitting victims over the head with a weapon, tying them up, and then repeatedly raping a woman. They could each face up to life in prison if convicted. Court records show four of the five suspects started participating in crime as juveniles, some as young as 14-years-old. |
(White) woman accused of the brutal murder of a (black) homeless man gets a new hearing A woman accused of killing a homeless man, cutting off his private parts and leaving his body in a dumpster will get a new hearing. It's a 15 year old case that shocked people in 2001. Now, the Nevada Supreme Court has ordered an evidentiary hearing on several claims raised by Kirstin Lobato. The court is giving Lobato the opportunity to once again prove her innocence because of new alibis and evidence. Lobato maintains her innocent and so does her friend. "I cannot believe after all this time they still believe she's guilty," said Michelle Revelle, a friend of Lobato. Prosecutors say the July 8th, 2001 incident stemmed from a drug deal. 44-year-old Duran Bailey was stabbed to death, his teeth knocked out, skull cracked, and genitals cut off. During the trial, prosecutors relied heavily on a statement Lobato gave police. She said that a man tried to sexually assault her and she fought back. That attack allegedly happened in late May. Bailey was murdered almost two months later. Lobato claims she was 170 miles away in Panaca the day Duran bailey was found dead. - (Black-on-white) |
