Bus driver allegedly does nothing while black teens attack white schoolgirls Four white 15-year-old Catholic schoolgirl friends laughing and chatting on their usual bus ride home were targeted in an unprovoked, racial attack that left them bloody and bruised, the teens told The Post Wednesday. “Oh, white girl got money!” a young black man sitting with a friend commented as the girls travelled on the BX8 bus around 3 p.m. Tuesday after dismissal from St. Catharine’s Academy in the Pelham Gardens section of The Bronx. Before they knew it, the boys called up some female friends, who boarded a few stops away — and the girls said the group punched and kicked them while grabbing clumps of their hair. In an exclusive interview with The Post, two of the girls said the trouble began as soon as they boarded the bus to Throggs Neck — with the male riders leering at the 10th-graders and snapping their pictures. One of the victims, who only wants to be identified by the initials LT because the attackers are still at large, said they were in their school uniforms when the young men tried chatting with them and then threatened to “piss on them.” “Oh, you go to St. Catharine’s? What, do you have money? Go drink your coffee, white girl, and go shopping,” one of them said. The girls nervously tried to laugh it off, and the thugs said they were calling friends at the upcoming Westchester Square stop for re-enforcements. Before they knew it, six to eight young black girls got on the bus and all hell broke loose. “All I remember is seeing the bus doors open and these girls have me by the ankles,” LT said. “One of the guys had me by my hair and punched me in the jaw.” - (Black-on-white) |

Murder charges re-filed against (black) Springfield man in connection with 2011 shooting death (of white woman he knew) Charges have been re-filed against a Springfield man in connection with the shooting death of a woman at a north Springfield hotel in 2011. Terry D. Morrison, 53, was charged Wednesday with first-degree murder and armed criminal action, the Greene County Prosecuting Attorney's office said in a news release. Morrison was originally charged in September 2011 in connection with the death of Pristina Tyner earlier that month. However, the charges were dismissed that December. In the Wednesday release, prosecutors attributed the move to the fact that a key witness gave "ambiguous testimony" in a preliminary hearing. Prosecutors said Wednesday the re-filing of charges was made possible "by the continued investigative efforts of the Springfield Police Department." A female witness, Christine Casper, said she had been staying in a room with Tyner and that they were expecting someone to visit them in the room, according to the statement. Casper said a black male knocked on the door and entered when Tyner opened the door. Casper said the male pulled out a handgun and pointed it at Tyner. Morrison confirmed he knew Tyner. - (Black-on-white) |
Judge Says Plea Bargain in Murder Case Was ‘Too Lenient’ — (Black man killed his ex-girlfriend, her new boyfriend Presiding Circuit Judge Gael Wood said he rejected a plea agreement in a 2014 murder case because he felt the deal was “too lenient.” Judge Wood told The Missourian Monday that he made that decision after reviewing the sentencing assessment report (SAR) for Dennis W. Brooks, Pacific. Brooks, 65, pleaded guilty in August under an agreement that he would serve 25-year concurrent prison sentences for second-degree murder charges in the deaths of Malinda A. Rash, 43, Pacific, and Carl Redmon, 50. Brooks confessed to police that he killed Redmon and Rash with a 12-gauge shotgun. Brooks, who authorities said was in an on-again, off-again relationship with Rash, left Rash’s apartment following an argument and returned a short time later with the loaded shotgun, according to reports. Police later recovered the gun. Brooks told police that after Rash ordered him to leave her apartment, he became increasingly angry over the argument. Brooks said he grabbed his 12-gauge shotgun and began to walk from his home back to Rash’s apartment. During the walk he loaded three rounds of ammunition into the shotgun, according to police. After arriving back at the apartment, Brooks allegedly forced his way inside, then fired two shots, killing both Redmon and Rash. - (Black-on-white) |

(Black) Marcas McGowan to spend life in prison without parole for kidnapping, death of (White) 5-year-old Cady Harris KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- An Atchison man who pleaded guilty to kidnapping and killing a 5-year-old girl in July of 2014 will spend the rest of life in prison. Leavenworth County Attorney Todd Thompson revealed on Tuesday that Marcas McGowan was sentenced in federal court on Tuesday, following a guilty plea he entered in May. On July 18, 2014, McGowan led police on a chase through Atchison into Missouri, and then back to Leavenworth. Police said that he was firing at them during the chase, and they found 5-year-old kidnapping victim Cady Harris dead from a gunshot wound in his car. Forensic evidence revealed that Cady died from being shot at close range in the back of the head, and investigators said shell casings consistent with a "Jennings Nine" were found in the front seat of his car, and McGowan was the only person who shot a 9-millimeter handgun during the crime spree. Leavenworth officers who chased McGowan were cleared of wrongdoing about a month after the deadly shooting. A domestic dispute between McGowan and Cady's mom, Christina Harris, preceded the chase and shooting. During an argument, McGowan threatened Harris with a gun, and when she called 911, McGowan took Cady and drove away as police arrived to their home. McGowan then led the officers on a chase, reaching speeds of nearly 100 miles per hour before he crashed through a barricade and was shot when he refused to obey officers' commands. - (Black-on-white) |

Chattanooga school bus crash: Speeding driver swerved off road, affidavit says A school bus packed with children slammed into a tree, flipped over and split apart. Shell-shocked students cried as rescuers worked for hours to pull them from the wreckage. Frantic parents screamed, "That's my baby." This was the horrifying scene Monday afternoon on a street in Chattanooga, Tennessee. And on Tuesday morning, the city was still reeling. At least five children were killed in the crash, school officials said, and six others are hospitalized in an intensive care unit. "Five is a cursed number in our city right now. We are ... dealing with an unimaginable loss," Mayor Andy Berke said. "The most unnatural thing in the world is for a parent to mourn the loss of a child." Authorities arrested the bus driver, 24-year-old Johnthony Walker, charging him with vehicular homicide. But investigators are still working to pinpoint what caused the crash. |

Arrest made after Spring couple wakes to find intruder staring SPRING, Texas -- Montgomery County deputies have arrested a suspect in a creepy crime in Spring over the weekend. Lonnie Antonio Jones, 33, is the suspect who broke into a bedroom window early Sunday. 3 (blacks) charged in murder of (White) Brookfield man BROOKFIELD, Ill. -- After an almost year-long investigation, three people have been charged in the murder of Michael Smith, a security guard killed the day he was expected to testify in a criminal case. Smith was shot in front of his home in January. His wife was inside and heard the shots. Police said the gunman, 25-year-old Jermaine Douglas, followed Smith to Brookfield after Smith appeared in court intending to testify against Douglas' friend in another case. "The victim Michael Smith parked in front of his Brookfield residence before exiting his car, Douglas pulled up and fired multiple shots at Michael Smith at point-blank range," said Chief James Episcopo of the Brookfield Police Department. Smith was working security at Shrine Nightclub in Chicago's South Loop several months earlier when he called police to arrest Comfort Robinson. Robinson was charged with several felonies. Police said they believe that was Robinson's motive to kill Smith. Brookfield police arrested and charged Robinson, Douglas, and 29-year-old Dejuyon Johnson. All three are charged with first degree murder. "Michael Smith was a good man, a model citizen, a hardworking family man, who was killed in the prime of his life for doing his job," said Episcopo. - (Black-on-white) |
