DNA evidence used to make composite sketch in 2001 Orlando cold case homicide (of White woman by black man) ORLANDO, Fla. - Thanks to new technology, the Orlando Police Department has used DNA evidence collected in 2001 to make a composite sketch of a man they believe to be a murderer. On Oct. 21, 2001, Christine Franke was a 25-year-old University of Central Florida student working to complete a degree in education. After a working a shift as a bartender and waitress at Cigarz Bar at Universal CityWalk, she drove home. She was found the next day, dead in her Audubon Park apartment. OPD detectives have been working on the 15-year-old cold case since then, but have not been able to identify a suspect or make an arrest. DNA evidence was collected at the scene of Franke’s slaying, but it has never caused a hit in the FBI’s Combined DNA Index System. Orlando police Chief John Mina announced Friday that exactly 15 years after Franke's death, a new step had been made in the case using DNA phenotyping. DNA phenotyping is the process of predicting physical appearance and ancestry from unidentified DNA evidence, Mina explained. Using DNA from the Franke homicide investigation, experts were able to predict that her killer was a dark-skinned man with brown eyes, black hair, no freckles and likely with West African ancestry, the OPD said. - (Black-on-white) |

(Black) Burnett gets prison for Winona homicide; (white) victim's mother addresses court during sentencing WINONA, Minn. — Reginald Alexander Burnett Jr. will spend a maximum of 28 years in prison for his involvement in the murder of Adam Tylor Fort, who was fatally shot inside his Winona apartment nearly one year ago to the day. Burnett pleaded guilty in July to one charge of aiding and abetting second-degree murder and two charges of aiding and abetting second-degree assault. The 19-year-old was convicted and sentenced Thursday in Winona County District Court. Burnett and Julie Anne Maxwell, his attorney, told the court he played a regrettable but unwitting role in the murder, a botched drug deal that led to the indictment of seven young people by a Winona County grand jury. Maxwell said her client would never have gone along with Lonnie Lavonte Keymone Hudson on the afternoon of Oct. 18, 2015, had he known it would result in murder. Burnett and Hudson were driven from La Crosse to Winona that day by Kayla Mae Clay, Burnett’s girlfriend. The men were hoping to buy some weed. In Winona, they picked up Richard Gordon Deppe and then headed for Fort’s apartment on Gilmore Avenue. A woman let them inside. Hudson demanded Fort “give them the stuff,” pulling out a pistol. Burnett testified that he stood by while Hudson pistol-whipped Deppe and shot Fort in the torso. Fort, 31, died at the scene. Hudson confessed to police that he committed the murder. Hudson, whose sentencing is Nov. 17, is expected to receive 30 years in prison as part of his own plea deal. Clay, 19, pleaded guilty to a single count of aiding an offender as an accomplice after the fact. She was sentenced to five years of probation. Deppe, 24, pleaded guilty to a single count of aiding an offender as an accomplice after the fact. He was sentenced to 20 years of probation. - (Black-on-white) |

New details in Boza murder case - (Black boyfriend murdered his white girlfriend) CONCORD- New information says cell phone records and blood in a vehicle led police to charge Jacquise Candrell Moore with the murder of Cynthia Marie Boza. Moore, 24, was arrested and charged with Boza’s murder on Jan. 28. He is being held without bond in the Cabarrus County Jail on charges of murder and a fugitive warrant. Boza, 45, was reported missing by her family on Dec. 6 2015 to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. She was last seen on Dec. 3, 2015 driving away from her home in the 400 block of Jones Street in Charlotte in a gold 2003 Ford Taurus. Court documents say her family became suspicious when she had missed important dates, including one family member’s birthday. Her body was found in the woods near 1101 Poole Place, off Central Drive in Concord, on Jan. 14 and the Medical Examiner’s office identified the body and confirmed her death was a homicide. They have not released the cause of death or how long she had been dead. Moore was arrested by the Forsyth Sheriff’s Department on Forum Parkway in Rural Hall. According to new court documents, he was arrested on an outstanding warrant for felony assault by strangulation which was taken out on him by his child’s mother in Alabama. Officers said Moore was driving a gold Ford Taurus at the time of his arrest. Court documents say that Moore and Boza were in a dating relationship but he told officers he had not seen her since late November when she was supposed to come and meet him in Winston-Salem. He told officers she never arrived and he hadn’t heard from her since then. Detectives applied BlueStar Forensic, a reagent used to reveal blood stains that have been washed out, to Boza’s vehicle to search for blood and it reacted to areas on the passenger door, passenger floor board and trunk, the documents said. Detectives also received information from AT&T Wireless for Boza’s phone number and plotted the phone in the area of her address on Dec. 3 and then at the Poole Place address later that day. - (Black-on-white) |

When police showed up at the Lakes of Madera Apartments on West Baker, they peered in a window and caught a glimpse of Shal's lifeless body. Police forced their way through a locked door to discover the mother of one, brutally murdered. "She's the only woman I've ever loved, period," Englerth said, tearing up at a packed press conference on Tuesday. For more than five months, Baytown officers have knocked on doors and canvassed the area searching for witnesses. The sketch shows a man who was seen around the apartment on the day of the crime, but police emphasized that he is not considered a suspect at this time. - (Black-on-white) |

Police return car to 77-year-old (White) woman carjacked at library (by two cowardly criminal black females) RAYTOWN, Mo. -- There is some good news for a 77-year-old Raytown woman who was carjacked Monday as she was leaving the Mid-Continent Public Library. "You never know if anyone has a gun, or whatever," Doris Sellards said describing the attack. "I grabbed ahold of her arm and when I did that she whacked me really good." It was a rough day for Sellards, but Tuesday brought better news as her car was found and returned to her at 31st and Hardesty. A few items are still from inside the car are still missing, but the car itself is in good shape. "I thank whoever did this, to make the car return to me. Thank you so much for all of you, for all your work," Sellards said. While she has her car back, the search for the thieves continues. Sellards stopped at the library to make some photocopies. The retired musician with the Kansas City Symphony noticed two young women hanging around but didn't think anything of it, until one of them, a black woman with distinctive dyed strawberry blonde hair, ran up behind her and ripped her keys out of her hand as she was returning to her car. "I was nearly to my car. I go, 'come on. Give me my keys back,' you know, not even realizing, because she was laughing. Sellards said the woman tossed the keys to her accomplice. When she tried to stop the pair, one of them punched her. "I was the target. They spotted me and they waited for me, and they went inside and waited for me," she said. Sellards says she screamed as the two women, in their late teens or early 20s, got away. And to show you how life has changed, in the old days somebody would have come to help." - (Black-on-white) |
(White) Syracuse woman beaten, killed; police arrest 47-year-old (black) 'acquaintance' SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A 47-year-old Syracuse woman died this weekend after she was badly beaten at her home, Syracuse Police Chief Frank Fowler announced at a news conference Monday night. Kimberly M. Rhoades, of 134 Eureka St., was attacked in her home around 1 a.m. Friday, Fowler said. Neighbors called 911 at 1:05 a.m. after hearing a woman scream, Fowler said. When police arrived, Rhoades was bleeding from her head and complained of pain to her ribs and abdomen area, police said. An ambulance took her to a hospital in Syracuse, where she later lost consciousness. Rhoades was pronounced dead Saturday. Syracuse police on Monday arrested Kevin D. Johnson, 47, of 611 Ash St., Syracuse, in connection with Rhoades' death. Rhoades and Johnson knew each other, Fowler said. Johnson was not at Rhoades' home when police arrived early Friday, however "there are witnesses to the crime," the chief said. Family members said they don't think this was the first time Johnson assaulted Rhoades, a divorced mother of three whose married name was Kimberly Samson. She was assaulted about three weeks ago, but never reported it to police. They are looking into whether the victim's prostitution arrest last year could be somehow connected to her death. - (Black-on-white) |
