"You never know if anyone has a gun, or whatever," Doris Sellards said describing the attack. "I grabbed ahold of her arm and when I did that she whacked me really good." It was a rough day for Sellards, but Tuesday brought better news as her car was found and returned to her at 31st and Hardesty. A few items are still from inside the car are still missing, but the car itself is in good shape. "I thank whoever did this, to make the car return to me. Thank you so much for all of you, for all your work," Sellards said. While she has her car back, the search for the thieves continues. Sellards stopped at the library to make some photocopies. The retired musician with the Kansas City Symphony noticed two young women hanging around but didn't think anything of it, until one of them, a black woman with distinctive dyed strawberry blonde hair, ran up behind her and ripped her keys out of her hand as she was returning to her car. "I was nearly to my car. I go, 'come on. Give me my keys back,' you know, not even realizing, because she was laughing. Sellards said the woman tossed the keys to her accomplice. When she tried to stop the pair, one of them punched her. "I was the target. They spotted me and they waited for me, and they went inside and waited for me," she said. Sellards says she screamed as the two women, in their late teens or early 20s, got away. And to show you how life has changed, in the old days somebody would have come to help." - (Black-on-white) |

Evil black kills (White) Woman in ‘totally random’ shooting on Interstate 15 in Las Vegas - then tries to rape CVS employee A man shooting a gun from a car on southbound Interstate 15 struck two people in another car Saturday, injuring a man and killing a woman, Las Vegas police said. Police believe a man in his late 20s or 30s shot a gun from his vehicle, striking the driver and front-seat passenger of a second car. Late Saturday, police identified 29-year-old Kenneth McDonald as a suspect in the shooting. After the woman and man were shot, their car crashed into a barricade on I-15, just south of the Spring Mountain Road overpass. The 48-year-old woman who was shot was rushed to University Medical Center with three gunshot wounds, Metro Lt. Dan McGrath said. She was pronounced dead just before 11 a.m., he said. About 20 minutes after they learned of the shooting, police were called by employees of a CVS at Windmill Lane and Las Vegas Boulevard South who reported a man had entered the store armed with two handguns. One employee, whom McGrath called a “very good witness,” told police the shooting suspect pulled his pants down and tried to sexually assault her. She pushed him away, and CVS employees moved to the back of the store, where police were evacuating the building. McDonald entered the enclosed entryway to the CVS, where “there was a bit of a standoff,” McDonald wouldn’t listen to officers’ commands, the lieutenant said. The police dog bit McDonald on the lower leg and thigh, and he was promptly arrested. McGrath said he continued to disobey officers as he was herded into the back of an ambulance. - (Black-on-white) |

21 dogs seized from apparent fight training facility BROOKSVILLE - A report of an injured dog led Hernando County deputies to an apparent breeding and training facility for dog fighting. The Hernando County Sheriff's Office said animal enforcement officers went to a home on Leonard Street about an injured dog, where they found a badly injured pup in a cage under the house. The person deputies said lived in the house said he was taking care of the dog for a friend and had been feeding it, but animal control officers didn't find any evidence of food or water. A vet later determined the dog was used as a bait dog during dog fights and had likely been fought within the past few days. The dog had oozing wounds and exposed muscle, bone and tendons, as well as puncture wounds and infection. They went back to the home where the injured dog was found and arrested 61-year-old James Harris for animal cruelty for not providing care for the injured dog under his house. Three days later, a search warrant was served at the second residence. Deputies arrested 53-year-old Darryl Smith and charged him with felony animal cruelty and felony bait animals. |
