Arrests made in (black-on-White) Prattville murder PRATTVILLE – A 14-year-old and 15-year-old have been charged with murder in a Sunday homicide that occurred in Prattville and an adult suspect is at large, said Police Chief Mark Thompson. The suspect is Santwone Cornelius Jones, 24, of 1203 Bragg St., in Montgomery, the chief said. All three suspects are from Montgomery, Thompson said. The teenagers are in custody in Montgomery and the district attorney’s office will begin court proceedings to have them declared as adults in the case, Thompson said. John Michael Taylor, 56, was found at 1 a.m. Sunday in the middle of the 1900 block of Cobbs Ford Road suffering from a gunshot wound, the chief said. Before succumbing to his wound, he told officers that he had been robbed by three men. Police believe Taylor was targeted after he left a service station, also in the 1900 block of Cobbs Ford Road. Robbery is the apparent motive in the killing, said C.J. Robinson, chief assistant district attorney. Video footage from the business shows Taylor in the store at the same time as the trio of suspects. Taylor was allegedly forced into a red or maroon vehicle, robbed and then shot, authorities say. He was able to walk to Cobbs Ford Road where he collapsed and a passing motorist called police, Thompson said. The three suspects and Taylor did not know one another, he said Thompson would not release the names of the teenagers due to their juvenile status. - (Black-on-white) |

Black jail imam says discrimination, not razors in his bag, got him fired A former New York jail chaplain who was axed in 2010 after security officers at the Manhattan Detention Complex downtown found razor blades and scissors in his bag is now suing the city and the Department of Correction for at least $2 million, saying he was unfairly ousted because he is Muslim and black. In the Manhattan Supreme Court suit filed Tuesday, Imam Zulqarnain Abdu-Shahid claims he thought he had surrendered the items as he left security at the jail, known as The Tombs, and was then “surprised” to find the contraband “had been placed” back in his satchel when he stopped by the locker room. Abdu-Shahid — formerly named Paul Pitts — has done time himself, serving 14 years in prison for murder after he and three others held up a Harlem supermarket in 1976 and left a customer dead. He was also arrested on rape charges in the 1960s, but those charges were dismissed. |
Chinese woman gets new boyfriend with tattooed neck and they and a black friend murder her (mulatto) husband Keith Green HILLSBOROUGH -- Rumors and mystery always swirled around the French chateau-style mansion on West Santa Inez Avenue in this wealthy enclave. Crews of nannies, housekeepers and landscapers came and went. Once a week, professionals detailed the fleet of exotic cars in the driveway -- a white Rolls-Royce, a black Land Rover, a high-performance Mercedes and a Ferrari. Neighbors rarely saw the young mother, Tiffany Li, from a wealthy Chinese family, or her ex-boyfriend, the children's father, culinary student Keith Green, and they often wondered what was going on behind the impressive double doors. Early Saturday morning, however, a SWAT team rammed through the wrought-iron security gate to find out. "Come out with your hands up!" neighbors heard through a police bullhorn. Before dawn, Li, 30, and her new boyfriend, Kaveh Bayat, 29, were arrested at the home. A third suspect, Olivier Adella, 40, was arrested at his Burlingame home the night before. All were charged with murdering Green, 27, who was found dead May 11, decomposing in a wooded area near Healdsburg. He vanished two weeks earlier, authorities said, the night he was supposed to meet Li at the Pancake House in Millbrae. The couple had two daughters, ages 2 and 4, together. Green told his friends he had been falsely accused of domestic violence and that he had been threatened by Li and Bayat. Green's body was found near a homeless encampment. |

Police Officer In Shock That Woman Convicted Of Murdering His Brother Could Go Free LOS ANGELES — A police officer is stunned and in disbelief after learning that the woman who was convicted of murdering his bother could get out of prison. “Breaks my heart for the whole law enforcement profession,” says LAPD Captain Brian Pratt. For Pratt, crime and punishment is deeply personal. His own brother — also an LAPD officer, was gunned down in the line of duty in 1988. Pratt was undercover with another officer when he was shot and killed during a gang-related drive-by. The driver of the car, Raylene Brooks, is being considered for parole. “She could have told her boyfriend ‘No I’m not going to do this.’ But she tactically drove the vehicle the wrong way down the street so she could put her vehicle as close as possible to my brother’s police vehicle,” Pratt says. Pratt’s big brother Daniel was 30 when he was murdered. At his memorial Captain Pratt talked about how much Daniel loved his family. - (Black-on-white) |

(Black) Man convicted of kidnap-rape-murder of (White female) Youngstown State U student loses appeal COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio Supreme Court has upheld the conviction of a man originally sentenced to death for murdering a Youngstown State University student. Although the death sentence in the case was dismissed earlier, the court on Thursday voted 6-to-1 to affirm the conviction of 58-year-old Bennie Adams who was found guilty of murdering Gina Tenney in 2008. The 19-year-old victim had been robbed, raped and her body tossed in the river in 1985. Adams argued that he had ineffective legal counsel that failed to challenge items such as evidence being presented by a substitute witness instead of the coroner who originally performed the autopsy on Tenney. He also argued that the evidence against him was insufficient to convict him of aggravated murder in the course of committing a rape or kidnapping. The Court disagreed, ruling that there is sufficient evidence to prove otherwise. Although the Supreme Court's most recent ruling upholds Adams' conviction, a ruling from the high court last year has already vacated the death sentence in the case. Because the case was sent back to the lower court, the U.S. Constitution's double jeopardy clause prohibits someone from being tried or punished twice for the same crime. When Adams is re sentenced in Mahoning County on June 6, the maximum penalty he faces is life in prison. - (Black-on-white) |

(Black) Arrested in December mystery killing (of White man) Now that a Dublin area man is in jail for killing a Macon man in December, the victim’s family still wants to know why. Torrance Deon Rouse, a 20-year-old from Montrose, was arrested at about 10:30 a.m. Friday by the U.S. Marshals of the Southeastern Regional Fugitive Task Force and charged in last year’s slaying of 43-year-old Deleon Wiley Hudson. “Oh my God, this is so wonderful,” Hudson’s widow Jeanie exclaimed when she learned of Rouse’s arrest. Since Dec. 22, Hudson’s wife and in-laws have been puzzled as to why anyone would shoot the artistic loner who was due at work that day at the Family Dollar. Bibb County Sheriff David Davis said they believe the killing was a failed robbery attempt on a desolate dirt road plagued by illegal dumping. The arrest comes six months after Hudson’s body was discovered with a gunshot wound to his head inside his in-laws’ Xterra, which was parked on Lakeshore Drive. Someone had tried to set the SUV on fire, but the rag sticking out of the gas tank had burned out. - (Black-on-white) |

Trial opens for (black) Bexar deputy who killed (an unarmed White man) man after car crash A motorist shot to death in 2013 by an off-duty Bexar County sheriff’s deputy had been heatedly arguing with his wife via text-messaging shortly before the fatal encounter, a defense attorney told a jury Tuesday as the former deputy’s murder trial started. Anthony Lamont Thomas, now 41, was wearing a uniform but was off duty and in his personal vehicle when he and Mathew Jackson, 29, were involved in a minor car crash on Aug. 31, 2013. Jackson had gotten off work at a restaurant and bar and then went to a friend’s house, where he had drinks. After that, he was driving down the highway when his car “bumped side mirrors” with Thomas’ vehicle, and both men pulled over. Thomas, a 16-year Sheriff’s Office veteran, shot and killed Jackson. Thomas told investigators he had felt threatened because Jackson ran toward him with something in his hand that looked shiny, and that he heard a gunshot. Special prosecutor Miguel Najera said in his opening argument that the evidence “does not correspond at all” to Thomas’ story, that Jackson was unarmed and “there was no justification” for the killing. - (Black-on-white) |
