 A gunman was shot dead in Philadelphia after he ambushed and shot two cops and four civilians, killing one of the bystanders, in a 'targeted attack on police'. Nicholas Glenn, 25, has been identified as the lone gunman, according to Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross. One 25-year-old woman was killed in the attack and two officers were hospitalized. Three civilians were also wounded, including one who remains in critical condition. A note believed to be written Glenn that allegedly contained rambling anti-police rhetoric and named a specific parole officer as a target was recovered near the scene. Ross said Glenn first ambushed Sgt Sylvia Young, 46, late Friday night just a few blocks from the University of Pennsylvania campus. She was shot up to eight times directly into her vest, according to sources. Glenn ran two blocks before he fired multiple shots into a random white vehicle. The 25-year-old woman inside was killed after she was shot seven times in the torso. |

    A drunk driver who suffered terrible burns in a fiery crash which killed three his three passengers, has turned himself. Terrell 'Russ' Barclay's shocking mugshot shows the 28-year-old wearing bandages and a neck brace, with horrific burn scars covering his face. Burns were also visible on his arms and neck as he shuffled into court, with the help of a walker, to appear before District Judge Patricia Broscius on Wednesday on charges of causing death while driving under the influence. Barclay had been more than double the legal alcohol limit when he lost control of his car which smashed into a row of parked vehicles before bursting into flames, in the early hours of May 6 in Lehigh Valley, New York. Police found a bag of marijuana on Barclay and a stolen gun was recovered from near the car. Barclay was also found to have traces of marijuana's active ingredient THC in his blood and an alcohol-blood level of 0.19 - more than double the legal limit. He had been driving without a license at the time of the crash after it was suspended following a separate DUI. Authorities traced the .40-caliber Taurus Millennium to an April 20 theft in Plainfield Township. All four passengers and driver appeared to know each other and Mosher, a mother-of-four who worked at the Dunkin' Donuts, was friends with Barclay on Facebook. Andrew Adams, 25, of Suisun City, Calif., faces a robbery charge after was arrested Thursday morning. A sixth suspect was arrested and faces a murder charge in connection to a deadly shooting of a man in South Lake Tahoe. Dion Jermaine Vaccaro, 26, a former Solano County, Calif., resident, was arrested on May 20 by law enforcement officers in Oklahoma City, Okla. He was booked into the El Dorado County jail, South Lake Tahoe Police said.

A fourth suspect was arrested Wednesday in connection with January shooting death of a man in South Lake Tahoe, according to a news release from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department. Investigators arrested Tevarez Lopez, 33, a resident of Georgetown, Calif., on Wednesday afternoon. At the time of the arrest, Lopez was already in the custody of the El Dorado County jail in Placerville on unrelated criminal charges. Tavarez has been charged with murder in this case, and remains in custody, according to the release.

- 2 California men arrested in South Lake Tahoe parking lot murder - February 29, 2016
 South Lake Tahoe police arrested two California men, who they believe were linked to a recent murder at a motel parking lot. Tristan Batten, 18, and Harvest Davidson, 20, face one count of murder and were booked on no bail warrants, police said in a news release. On Jan. 30, Dennis Wright Jr., 40, was shot and killed by two men, who tried to rob him and his girlfriend during a drug deal at the parking lot of the Beverly Lodge, 3480 Lake Tahoe Blvd, and police said. Wright and his girlfriend, Kendra Ghiorso, drove to South Lake Tahoe to sell 100 pounds of marijuana to buyers. Two men then arrived and tried robbing the couple at gunpoint for cash they received in the sale. The robbers struggled with the couple on the parking lot, police said. One or both men then fired several gunshots and fled in a vehicle. Wright was taken to Barton Memorial Hospital where he later died of his injuries. - (Black-on-white)

 Two more people have come forward to accuse a Marrero pastor of molesting them when they were young girls, raising to five the number of people accusing him of sexual crimes as part of a growing investigation, Orleans Parish court documents said. The documents said police have also been contacted by two additional possible victims, though their allegations are not detailed in the record. Sherman Smith was arrested in November on aggravated rape and sexual battery charges after three people came forward. He was booked on further charges Wednesday (Sept. 13), court records showed, including indecent behavior with a juvenile, sexual battery, and molestation of a juvenile or person with a disability. |

NEW ORLEANS - New Orleans police arrested an Algiers man, who is also a pastor at Second Highway Baptist Church in Marrero, for aggravated rape of a child under 13. Reverend Dr. Sherman Smith, 56, was booked into Orleans Parish Prison. He faces charges of aggravated rape, sexual battery, molestation of a juvenile or person with a mental or physical disability, and two counts of incident behavior with a juvenile.
