(Black) Suspect in April murders of (White) Metairie father, son faces more trouble after accusations of masturbating in jail
A New Orleans teen charged in the April murders of a father and son in their Metairie home was rebooked late last week on an accusation that he was masturbating in his Jefferson Parish jail cell while looking at a guard. The parish Sheriff’s Office on Friday booked Dexter Allen, 17, on one count of obscenity, which is punishable by between six months and three years in prison as well as with a fine of between $1,500 and $2,500. Allen is in jail awaiting trial on two counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of 56-year-old David Pence and 25-year-old Nicholas Pence, who were fatally shot just before midnight April 22 in the living room of their Whitney Heights neighborhood home during a break-in. On Friday, the Sheriff’s Office said in a report, Allen was gazing at a guard while stroking his penis until he complied with an order to stop. The exposure of one’s genitals in jail in a manner “that is patently offensive” qualifies as obscenity under Louisiana law. Allen and a co-defendant, 18-year-old Haraquon Degruy, were in court on the double murder case Monday, but the hearing was reset for Nov. 17. Both defendants have pleaded not guilty in the case. - (Black-on-white) |

Black live-in boyfriend shot his white 'girlfriend' and she is now paralized so she is suing 911 for slow response
New records obtained by the attorney for a Dallas domestic violence victim detail what they claim to be failed response to repeated 911 calls before a shooting that left her paralyzed. Police did not reach Roxanna Mayo until after the Jan. 19, 2015, attack by her former boyfriend. "I expected them to be there," Mayo said. "I wouldn't be paralyzed if they had shown up the first time or the second time or even the third time." Mayo said she ran a successful salon before the shooting but is unable to support her four children now as she receives care in a nursing home. A 911 recording of one call from the daughter was made at 4:40 p.m., 26 minutes before a neighbor called to report the 5:06 p.m. shooting. "My step dad is hitting my mom, and we're in the middle of the street. He threw a beer at my mom's face," the girl said. The girl told the 911 operator that the man had a gun and she had seen him with it that day. She described the location near Thurgood Marshall Elementary School. "OK, we've got the call in. We'll get officers down there for you," the operator said. When police arrived afterward, Mayo said officers poked her as she lay paralyzed on the floor. "They were just kind of mocking me and laughing at me, and they said, 'Calm down, you just have one bullet wound,'" Mayo said. She said the bullet went through her lung and lodged in her spinal cord where it cannot safely be removed. - (Black-on-white) |

- Paralyzed Woman Suing City Of Dallas, Says Police Ignored 911 Calls
A North Dallas woman who said she was shot by her ex-boyfriend and paralyzed is now suing the City Of Dallas. Roxanna Mayo claims the incident could have been prevented had 911 operators acted faster. During the MLK holiday, Mayo said she got into a heated argument with her ex-boyfriend Quadriq Sharper. Mayo said the situation escalated and Sharper pulled out a gun and shot her. “I looked around and all I saw was blood. It just felt like my legs were in the air floating,” said Mayo. The bullet hit her arm, but then traveled into her spine, leaving her paralyzed from the chest down. The slug remains lodged in her back. “I can’t work. I can’t take care of my family. There’s just no excuse. It’s just not right.”
- Paralyzed woman claims Dallas 911 operators ignored her calls for help
According to the suit, Mayo had been dating her ex-boyfriend, Quadriq Anthony Sharper, for six months at the time of the shooting. They had been living together at the apartment for about two months.

The last of 5 black criminals convicted in deadly home invasion robbery plot - that left White man dead
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The last of five co-defendants responsible for a robbery that turned in a homicide was convicted Friday. After a five-day trial, 24-year-old Melvin King was convicted of First Degree Felony Murder, Especially Aggravated Kidnapping, Attempted Especially Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Burglary, Employing a Firearm During the Commission of a Dangerous Felony, Reckless Aggravated Assault, and Aggravated Animal Cruelty. The Knox County District Attorney's Office says King forced his way into a home on Valley View Drive in June 2014. The occupants were held at gunpoint while the King and his accomplices searched for cash and drugs. During the home invasion, investigators say King shot and killed John Huddleston. Sydney Smith was also shot, but survived. Prosecutors said King was overheard in the jail intake center bragging about how he planned the robbery and shot the victims. "A young man’s life was cut short because five individuals planned a robbery to steal a thousand dollars and a pound of marijuana," says DA Charme Allen. "If you have so little regard for human life, you deserve to be locked up for as long as possible." - (Black-on-white) |
